Skidaway island has a very beautiful park and the camp sites are large, providing plenty of elbow room. There is not a bad site anywhere in the campground. We would like to express our appreciation to our extremely helpful camp hosts; Chuck, Robin, Leland and Bambi. They kept the campgrounds neat and the bath houses and laundry facilities almost antiseptically clean. We were never concerned about having to use a dirty restroom or shower. We were without personal transportation for a week, because of a mechanical failure, and Chuck and Robin went out of their way to ensure that we were able to get to the grocery store and made it possible for us to empty our black and gray water tanks, when needed. Leland and Bambi would stop by every so often to check on us and offered their assistance if we ever needed it. Thank you to all four special people.

This was a place I was so glad I saw. Beautiful greenery, serene scenery, and a natural beauty to behold. Parking is $5, but well worth the trip if you don’t want to just drive around. This is a great spot to relax, enjoy a picnic, take the family, walk on the trails, and admire the beauty of hundreds of different types of trees. Highly recommend!

We loved Skidaway. The sites are very large and well spaced. Its clean and very shaded with large oaks. The bathhouse had 2 showers, 1 of those being for the handicapped. There are 2 nice washer/dryers in each laundry area which is in the same building as the bathhouse. Some sites did offer sewer. The dump station was easy in/out.Skidaway is 17 minutes from downtown Savannah and within 6-7 minutes from Kroger. We look forward to returning.

It cost $5 to park in this park. The older lady working in the booth at the entrance is so nice and helpful. Upon entering the park, there is a stop sign and the parking lot is in the left, the Sandpiper Trail is to the right of the building ahead, and turn right to access the rest of the parking areas. I took a right turn and parked in the first lot on my left where there is a picnic area. I back tracked and headed down the Sandpiper Trail and also hiked the Avian Loop Trail. Both trails are very clean and have a beautiful view of the marshland. The Avian Loop Trail offers a beautiful view of the Skidaway Narrows. There is where I saw little tiny crabs on the sand quickly walking away to hide when they heard/saw me. So cute! I love that this park is dog friendly. I really enjoyed hiking these 2 trails. I wish it wasnt that hot, or I would hike the other trails.

Outstanding Park. We stayed at this Park to visit Savannah. Our stay was for 3 nights but next year we will book for 10 days so that we have more time to visit the historic sites. The camp sites in this Park are large and well spaced out. The bathrooms were immaculate. The staff was outstanding and were willing to help you out. Verizon service was strong. The hookups had good power, strong water pressure and a solid sewer hookup.

Trails were well kept and scenery was beautiful. Could use a few extra signs on the paths but if you have a map its easy to follow. Campground was great. Roads are a little narrow around 90 degree turns, so watch out for the trees. Spots do not have pads and seems like people just drive up and park anywhere vs a designated spot, except the pull through spots which have gravel. Camping areas #2 and #4 are mostly smaller spots or have large trees that can make it difficult to get into. Camping #3 and #1 have a number of nice large spots. Most of the spots are well separated unless you are backing up to another spot on another road. For example the inside roads of camping #2 and #1. If you want some privacy, stay on the outside loops. Side to side privacy is generally well spaced. Facilities are average. Just about all the spots have beautiful moss covered trees providing shade. Unfortunately there were a number of dead branches hanging around and I wouldnt want to be under them during a storm. I saw at least one 4 branch on the ground within 15 of a camper while I was there. Our spot, 71, had a 3-4 story pine right next to where we parked that appeared to have been struck by lightening some time ago and has been dead for a long time. When you park just look above to see what is hanging over. I had to move after I setup as there was a branch above I wasnt too sure about.

The trails are nice. The campground, meh. Showed up on a weekend when it appears a Grand Design brand RV group was getting together. Who had the brightest lights and could leave them on all night long to blind anyone enjoying the ambience was apparently the thing to do.When you pull in dont drive straight up to the little shack thinking the attendant can check your reservation and let you in. Turn right just before the shack into the narrow parking lot so that you can go inside the office to get registered. Big rigs, pray there are no cars in your way and you can get into the lot. Cars, pray no big rig is parked in the crazy narrow lot so that you can get in/out. OK, if youre like me theyll wave you over to get registered just beyond the shack.Plenty of OATV channels, and about 3 bars of Verizon 4G.

Our family of 5 hiked through here yesterday. It was a really nice trail! We saw deer and lots of crabs. My kids were fascinated! We loved that the observation tower was a short walk, but other trails allowed for a much longer hike. Pick up a trail map at the beginning of the trail! My kids loved the observation tower, and I loved that there was a picnic table there for my kids to stop and enjoy a snack. Some parts of the trail are quite soggy & wet...so wear proper shoes!Youll have a great time surrounded by nature!!!Parking is $5, but admission is free. :)

What can I say about this wonderful park. It is just beautiful. RV sites are large and private. Restrooms are new and very clean. A variety of sites. Website says back in on the majority, but really most are pull through sites. Great location for Savannah and Tybee Island. The website indicates sites have cable TV. Ours #85 did not. Now the reason for 4 stars, instead of 5... Campground roads are paved, but sites are dirt, no gravel whatsoever like most GA State parks. Dirt tracks into your RV after a rain. Another strange thing is the large decks are concrete walls filled in with dirt. Great place if you dont mind dirt.

We especially liked the outdoor fitness area that had some cool modified exercise equipment that was also wheelchair accessible. The walking trails are clearly marked, safe and beautiful. Review №32

Nice state park, we had a pull through site, these are nice in that they are a horseshoe style, you pull up right next to the road. The camping area was very spacious, would be great to come here with other families or a group together. There is a new bathhouse on one end and was very clean and nice compared to the one at the other end of our section. Also had 2 new washers and dryers were $1.50 a load so very reasonable compared to many RV parks and places that charge $3+, just bring quarters for the machines. There are also now some Sewer pull through spots but they did not show up in our initial search or else I would have tried to grab one of those. We will definitely try to come back here again sometime and explore more of Savannah. Lots of playgrounds around the park as well. The only issue I had was a tree right in the corner of the entrance to the road to our section that if we hadnt been cautious and quick to catch before making the turn we would have ran into it at the top of our camper. And another tree on the direct other side of the road and then a sign, coupled with an almost 90deg right turn. So we had to back up and re try the entry. That tree on the right really should come down to prevent injury to other campers making that turn. Also the roads are very curvy and bumpy since they as well will not remove trees unless absolutely necessary even if that means winding around them and them growing roots into the road. So drive really slowly and cautiously especially with big rigs or low to the ground coaches.

This place is perfect. The scenery, the wildlife, the vibe of the place is precisely my tune. The Spanish moss hanging from the old growth oaks, the scent of the salt marsh, the deer silently grazing in our campsite, the quiet swish of the pine needles in the gentle breeze... If heaven aint a lot like Dixie, I dont wanna go... ️ The campground is very well maintained, laid out, and staffed. The campground hosts near #42 and near #72 were both excellent, going above and beyond to accommodate our needs. Our site 30A circuit breaker on #72 kept tripping, so we had no AC in our camper after a day of 105°F... Even at 11pm our host was able and willing to fix the problem, and did so with a smile. The staff at the front office were as accommodating, friendly, and professional as always. We are glad Georgia has such great State Parks!! And Skidaway Island SP is our #1 all time favorite!

It is nice that the campsites are spread out and not on top of each other. In addition, most sites are under oak trees giving a lot of shade. They have also cut out most of the undergrowth to keep the mosquitos and bugs to a minimum. For tent camping they have a hard sand build up to keep you off the mud when it rains. Really helps to keep your tent dry and packing up is so much easier without mud on everything. For my fellow campers who need handicapped assistance they have that covered with the bathrooms and parking too.

We enjoyed our stay at Skidaway S. P. The park personnel was more than happy to help with any questions you might have about the area. The sites are shady, spacious, and have easy access. Some sites are much closer together than campsite pictures may show on the camp website. When you reserve a site, it is site specific. There are a limited number of full hoop-up sites. I have had conversations with campers at other state parks in Georgia that have gone:Where were you before you came here? Skidaway. How was it? Awesome. We love this park, too, but we visit Skidway every chance we get. And:How do you like this park? Oh, we love this place. We come here at least once a year. Where you headed next? Skidaway. Its our normal routine: here one week; Skidaway the next. Or, vice versa. We went today to find out why. Clean, shaded sites. Many large sites easy to pull through. Clean comfort stations. Nice large covered picnic pavilions. Modern safe playgrounds. Interesting interpretive center with host/interpretive guide. Great friendly, helpful staff.
