You have to go at least once! Its very nice and kept up. The monument is a nice piece of history. There are walking trails that are awesome. Its pet friendly and you can bring your dog on a leash. It is $10 per adult and your receipt is good for 7 days, so hang onto it and you can come back.

This is one of my favorite National Monuments in the country. Great military history here and the fort itself is truly remarkable and very unique with a moat surrounding it. The hiking trail to view the Cockspur Lighthouse is really nice too. They are pretty strict about kicking you out of the area at 5pm when it closes so be sure to allow yourself enough time to see everything.

Very educational. The photo is of a 130 year old fig tree that produces figs still to this day. Very beautiful and big. This fort took on a lot of damages in its time and still stands today to tell its story. I think the schools should teach more about our trials of what our country stood for to get us this far and to keep our Freedom in our Country and not look at others take it away.

This place is so cool! I was bummed the inside was closed but totally get it with the pandemic. Looks like they were capitalizing on the down time with some construction improvements! As you go around the fort count how many cannon balls you can find still lodged in the walls-we found 14! We loved the engineering behind the moat and hiking out to the lighthouse was pretty! It was neat to watch a cargo ship travel up the river- they’re so huge!

This was a great visit and our favorite fort that weve visited to date. The employee inside gave us a pamphlet and provided us with the important points of the fort/battle. Some of the exterior walls show where the fort was hit - theres still a cannonball sitting in one of the holes. Theres also a moat, drawbridge, old cannons, etc. If youre interested, you can also watch a 15 minute video and/or go on a guided tour. Id highly recommend visiting. The national park pass will get you in for free, if you have one.

A very cool piece of American history. The staff was knowledgeable, able to answer questions about whats not self-explanatory. One small complaint is about the path to the nearby lighthouse. Its not all that nearby and the path isnt as clearly indicated as you would think. Part of the problem is that the lighthouse isnt at all visible from many vantage points near the fort. So its hard to know whether youre going the right direction. We ultimately gave up on getting to the lighthouse but did meet someone along the way that made it there and back and said it was not all that great. Your results may vary

Fort Pulaski is hauntingly beautiful. Its easy to get to. Be sure to watch the movie in the visitors center to hear some interesting history. This fort is part of the Underground Railroad. It gets extra cool points for the moat around it. The Union Army first successfully tested rifled cannons when attacking Ft. Pulaski and the success is evident when walking around the outside of the fort.

The fort is currently closed due to Covid but the grounds were still open. Easy walking distance to all of the available things to see so this is a good stop with kids. Extremely hot and muggy in the summer so maybe take a visit during the cooler months. The cannon impacts on the east side of the fort are pretty cool. Will be back once things open back up to see the interior of the fort.

Nice place to visit with kids. I enjoyed exploring the fort and learning some american history. The rangers were also knowledgeable and ready to answer questions. I would recommend this place. If you have kids the Jr Ranger program is a great way to get them to interact with the location. When they complete the packet they even get a Jr Ranger badge. Its a great free program the park service offers. I also loved walking out to see the small lighthouse. It was great to see all the fiddler crabs.

We visited Fort Pulaski National Monument with our dog. It is very dog friendly for a national park - he is allowed everywhere except the gift shop, including the trails and fort. And he even got a treat from the entrance station. The fort is really cool and theres a lot to see. My favorite part was the maze of tunnels just before entering the main part of the fort. We also hiked the lighthouse trail out to see Cockspur Island Lighthouse. Overall, a great place to visit and must-see if visiting Savannah.

This is an amazing stop for anyone interested in history and nature.Bring bug spray and apply liberally as the mosquitoes are more hungry then my dog at dinnertime.Famous for being a test site of union rifled cannon fire. It lead the way in making forts like these useless. Also used as a p.o.w. camp. It has a moat!! Any fort that has a moat is a fantastic fort in my book. We didnt do the live tour. We meandered around on our own to discover the greatness of this fort. The best part was being up by the cannons and seeing a bald eagle soaring over! How amazing is that?! And the lady that was in the gift shop was super nice even though we didnt buy anything. I liked my experience at this fort way better than the one at St Augustine.

I FINALLY made it out here today, so glad I did, January 13th, 75 degrees F. Awesome weather for me to spend nearly 4 hours walking around the grounds and out to the Historic Lighthouse. I love the all history about the fort ! Just moved here from Philly 6 weeks ago so I learned about it before going there, not knowing anything about it, on the Savannah government TV channel, and now I live here. I was fortunate today, the mosquitoes apparently werent bad like I hear they can be when its hot. Wear long sleeves, bug spray, I prefer patchouli oil mixed with eucalyptus oil, keep moving and go out to the lighthouse, its less buggy out by the water . I was also lucky enough to be all alone today. Its so peaceful here !! Quiet, breezy, birds... Watch whilst you walk for the little sand crabs running around, I thought to be big spiders at first...lol Ill be back to fort as much as possible, I have a National Parks Pass . Buy some souvenirs!!! Slap a sticker on your truck or car . It takes a lot a love and labor to keep this awesome piece of History alive !! Enjoy it !!

The last of the brick forts. Very medieval looking on the outside. They thought the fort was safe with a river keeping enemy cannon shot away, but new technology, rifled cannon shells, gave union soldiers superior accuracy and they opened a hole in the fort on the 1st day of combat. Thus ends the age of forts.
