This course is absolutely beautiful. They have really fixed this course up beautifully. The older gentleman behind the counter was so sweet even gave us some free range balls and a hot-dog! We will definitely be back !!

Much Improved and still getting better! I played Bacon park on 10/31 for the first time since May 2018. The course is in much better shape. The fairways are green with a nice amount of fluff but still firm enough to get good roll-out. The classic Donald Ross design is fun - offers a challenge for skilled players, but is also friendly for beginners. This course is also perfect for walking! It is obvious the maintenance staff are working hard getting the course in better condition. Its nice to see the progress! A few of the greens have areas that are under repair, several greens were recently punched, but at least you can tell they are headed in the right direction. Overall, its an enjoyable course with nice scenery and lots birds!

I was in town for Memorial Day and decided to come hit a few balls at the range. The guys at the course made me feel at home. Plenty of laughs and the course seems to be in good shape. Very reasonable rates.

Great restoration of a Donald Ross course. Pushed up greens remain, with interesting rolls and squared off corners. Good mix of holes. Needs more maintenance and the lack of cart paths means muddy ruts and tracks where they should not go. Greens a bit slow but over all a fun day.

The course was in decent shape. Its short and very forgiving, the fairways are a solid 7/10, theres little in the way of trees or water to worry about, but about a third of the greens were diseased and therefore bumpy/inconsistent. If you play here, keep in mind the next holes tee box is often just next to the green. If this was all, Id give this course a 3 out of 5.However, the carts are controlled by a faulty GPS system that turns your cart off if youre in a location deemed unpermitted. Our party knows golf etiquette (dont drive on/right next to greens or tee boxes, etc.) but there were about 7 or 8 times in the 18 holes we played where the cart decided our barely-off-the-fairway path was deemed unpermitted and shut down, completely preventing us from driving forward. Im not talking about being close to a green or anything, I mean literally in the rough 5-10 yards off the middle of the fairway. Some holes dont even have cart paths, so we drove the most logical path towards the next holes tee box (again FAR away from the greens and without going past the cart signs), but it still shut off and deemed our location unpermitted. You also cant take your cart out to your car to put your clubs in it, as the parking lot is also a no-go. The utterly frustrating carts make this a solid 1. Luckily, we discovered that we could put the cart in reverse when it was locked, so we reversed until we randomly found a spot that allowed the cart to function again. Unless they fix this ridiculous issue, I would not recommend this course to anybody, especially for $40.

Best time ive had golfing in years, they made great improvements all around and some of the best staff Ive had the pleasure of being around that made me feel at home

Great course design and while its condition is not perfect, its come a very long way from what it was not too long ago. With it being one of the best golf values in the Low Country, improvements continuing, and ownership actively involved in management, tee times will become more sought after as things only continue to get better and better.

The course looks very good compared to when I played it last, probably ten years ago. Most of the greens are not in good shape, but the last 4-5 were in very good shape. Overall, I had a great time and would definitely play Bacon Park golf course again.

Really enjoy working here, good people and a better golf course

70$ for 2 people? Not worth it, the greens were the worst I have ever encountered. Johnson grass growing up made putting impossible. Mowing everywhere else was subpar. The course has a lot of potential but it is no where near the shape it needs to be. Would much rather pay a little bit more to play a 10x better course. DO NOT PLAY

Well designed course that has obviously made capital investments to make it one of the finest courses and facilities in the area. Ive only been golfing for about 6 months. I started out hitting range balls after work on Thursday nights when they light the driving range. The 9 hole course was great while I was still learning the basics and didnt want to worry about holding anyone up. I took a couple of lessons with Gordon which made a HUGE difference in my swing and would recommend to anyone who is learning this game. Very affordable, especially if you take advantage of their specials and twilight rates. Staff is friendly and course is looking better every time I play.

Im not a golfer but went along with some friends. The staff was so helpful and knowledgeable. Made sure I had everything I needed to have a great first golfing experience. The course is beautiful, especially the Live Oaks with the hanging Spanish Moss. Super cool that its restored to the original layout from 100 years ago. Love the history.

Bacon Park is, and always has been what I would consider to be my home course. I have been a regular customer for at least 30 years; and to be able to watch and enjoy the transformation of this course the past few years has been a treat. The historical layout is a Donald Ross design that gives me a great round with a course that challenges every club. I am a lifelong fan! Keep up the good work. Cant wait to see whats next!

I’ve been playing here for a bit now and this course is in the worst shape I’ve ever seen it lately. Prepare to putt on concrete and not be rewarded for being in the fairway. Great staff, horrible course. Won’t be back.

Nice course, the guy in the pro shop ignored me until I bothered him but the course was lovely though a bit pricey for 9 holes...$30 on a week day.

Its rare to get the opportunity to play a Donald Ross designed course and its even rarer to play one for under $100. The redesigned course is a treat, challenging, but not overwhelmingly so with terrifically kept greens. REALLY enjoyed the course and the staff was great. Bacon Park is a course that you can bring family out and enjoy your time playing golf.. The golf pro is One of the Best in the area.. He is very knowledgeable and will improve your game in no time.. Overall a very good experience and not feeling the pressure like at high end private courses..

Great local course! Perfect place to play with a group or by yourself, I always bring family and out of town guests while theyre visiting. They have made some fantastic improvements to this challenging, but fun course! Driving range is close by for a quick warm-up before your round too!

Bacon Park Golf Course is located in the heart of beautiful Savannah, Georgia. Savannah is full of history and this golf course has played its part in the long, storied history as well. It is the City of Savannahs only municipal golf course and is an original Donald Ross layout that began in 1926. Today the course is exceptionally managed and has undergone a complete restoration. When you golf here youll enjoy making the rounds amongst some of Savannah most majestic live oak trees, dripping with the Spanish Moss that our fair city is known for. This course is for all levels of golfers and is enjoyed year round by locals and visitors alike. Savannah has turned out some fine golfers .... many who got their start right here at the ole Muny. My own father and all of my brothers have played many rounds here and they have fond memories and incredible stories that theyve enjoyed sharing over the years. You wont find a more enjoyable golfing experience anywhere else in Savannah than at Bacon Park Golf Course!

This facility needs to be shut down. 2 employees and 5 members have tested positive for Covid 19. Yet their are people playing all hours of the day.

I was in town from florida and found this course to be minimal. Little to no cart path. bunkers were in terrible shape, trash was all over the course, and constantly had people hitting balls very close to us do to the pins and next tees being so close together. bad experience for a first time golf here.

I can only relay how much pleasure my son gets out of this course. He was a true novice about golf until a few years ago. Now he has picked up some time to play more often and loves this course (he has played others.) Close to home makes it even more convenient. Mr. Welch has put his heart and soul into this beautiful course and it shows. Great compliment for the City of Savannah.

Ive played Bacon Park on and off over the years, mostly because i Live in SC. Its a great layout and more importantly its been transformed back into the course it was supposed to be. Definitely worth a play and as you do youll feel why so many call that course home.

I drive by this historical golf course while Im on the Truman Parkway. Its been so nice to see the beautiful renovation by O.C. Welch! Ive seen his generosity towards the community many times over the years, including one evening when he spent 10K on a guitar to benefit the Royce Learning Center. My mouth fell open. :-) Were very luck to have him as a benefactor for the Savannah community, especially his help saving the Bacon Park Golf Course!

The new additions are incredible. I have been playing the city amateur for five years now. The bunkers and greens are some of the best in Savannah.

I played here on October 5th 2019. Where to start... The course is a joke. Greens were in terrible shape. I shot 72 from the tips and still hated this place. Hate to bring up race, so I wont. But didnt feel comfortable or WELCOME at all. I LOVE Savannah, but will never play this place again

I grew up playing at Bacon Park - spending most of my summers there. I visited there this past week and I have to say it has never looked better. I am so glad that this important piece of Savannah’s history has been restored to the condition it deserves .

Bacon Park Golf Course is always my go to place when booking tee times in Savannah. Its very well maintained and the staff is incredibly friendly. Whenever Im asked by clients or visitors for golf recommendations this is the course at the top of the list!
