John is one of the personal trainers and does an amazing job. Very friendly and welcoming.
They have month of granularity, regardless if you want to put membership on hold or cancel. And is VERY cryptic how they communicate. I cancelled on Feb/14 and I was told depending upon payment date, upto 30 days will be charged. My payment date was 3rd of every month. And got charged for one more half month in Mar/3.Be careful, they DONT count upto payment date. They count FROM payment date to 30 days.Another for hold - visited them on Feb/5 to out membership on hold. Guess what - since I was 2 days into trap I have to wait for March/3 to out on hold. Decided to cancelrather adhering to such non-practical policies a week after (Feb/14).Ended up paying them 1.5 months of membership without using a day!I doubt if I am returning back here again.. this was 2nd and last chance. Why 2 stars? Well facility is nicer. But losing 3 stars because they are very impractical.
I love being a member of the Y. Recently they invested in a circuit of electronic weight lifting machines which renewed my interest in going to the gym.
I recommend the Southwest YMCA without reservation. It is clean, has numerous programs for all ages, a cardio room, a weight room, a pool, and friendly staff. It has one unusual feature. Instead of one big building, the Y includes many buildings joined by a covered walkway, similar to an outdoor mall. Try it. Youll love it.
Nice people. Lovely facilities. Lots of different training options and the folks who teach courses are really nice. When was the last time your training class put up happy birthday banners for an instructor? That happens here. If youre a serious trainer, a kid or an 80 year old grandmother, this could be the place for you.
There is great variety of camps to choose from. Before and after care is great! The kids love the crafts and activities with the leaders.
Y offers wonderful experience. I spend some time there, first thing in the morning. I get rejuvenated and feel refreshed whole day.
Great place to get fit and strong. No bodybuilders hanging around showing off.
I love this YMCA! The classes are awesome and the instructors are great. (especially Rachel, Autumn and Penny) The child care is great and I can tell that they really like what they do. They take wonderful care of my son so that I can get a good work out in.
The dance class Glitz is great!
The pool is run by amateurs. Slow people are constantly swimming in the faster lanes, the lifeguards don’t regulate the pool and people, they just sit there.Hire people who can manage swimmers.
Good place to stay active, only downside is that membership fee is pretty expensive
Great fitness instructions, really good equipment, and very nice members!
Great staff. All equipment is well maintained and clean. Its a little weird working out in an old school but other than that its great.
Great people, equipment, and facilities!
The Southwest YMCA is truly based around the community. Charlene, Tanya and the entire team make sure that everyone is welcome. So the staff deserves five stars including the lifeguards, personal trainers and those colleagues behind the scene. If there is one improvement suggestion, it is the cleanliness of the locker rooms. This is not a reflection of the staff but rather the unmannered few who could not be bothered to discard used towels or other items in the right bin. I am not sure what can be done in this area.
Aware of one month notice if you would like to cancel your membership.
The staff at this location is amazing. Every single one welcomes me by name! 100% recommend.
This is a great ymca. The pool is a little small. Only six people can lap swim at a time and there’s a small area for classes. If you don’t show up early good luck swimming. The staff are very nice and helpful. I gave this place three stars because the parking is so ridiculous! Unless you go at a time where people are at work or school good luck finding a parking spot. There has been numerous times I’ve gone, but went back home because there’s no parking. I’m just going to get a membership at planet fitness and use the ymca if I want to go swimming or for classes. Kinda weird they can’t guarantee parking, but want to charge almost $100 a month for a membership
Friendly staff with well trained trainers that are available if you need assistance. Equipment is kept up to date and is well maintenance. Pool hours and activities are abundant and available for all members working a daily job or retired. The YMCA is a wonderful way to keep fit or just release a little tension after a day at work.
Friendly knowledge staff and a comprehensive assortment of programs.
So far my first impression is a good one. Front desk manager was super friendly, facilities were clean and not crowded. Free towels to use, lots of classes offered and included in membership. Very kid friendly as well.
I have been exercising at the Y since 10 years. Prior to that I got yearly memberships at 24 hour, but never was a regular, felt out of place, when I went there.I started at Northwest and moved this side. Went to Laurys Bollywood and several Yoga classes.I never miss Robertos Zumba and BollyX and any Bollywood dance. the Y makes my gloomy days brighter and joyful. Thanks a lot.My dog Simba enjoyed the swim at the Y.
The group classes are amazing!
I love going to this place with my family and to go swimming at. I also love using the weight room and cardio room. This is an awesome place for children, adults, and elders. If you havent visited the gym and you need a trainer they have a great variety of trainers for many things who are all very nice. They also have a large variety of Weight machines and cardio exercises to do/use. It is a very comfortable place to be in, only it may be a little crowded. The pool is also a great temperature to go swimming and do lass and also has very good lifeguards and is fun to go with your family. I come here every day to get fit and have fun. They also have a wide variety of sports and activities that you can do in groups or by yourself they have amazing staff that all care about you.
Group excercise classes are pretty good and effective
Friendly staff, much cleaner than Cupertinos y, didnt see much crowd on weekend. I can see a lot of group classes I can enroll into. Gym and cardio center has all the required equipments. I believe it would be a great place to take my family with and create wonderful memories for life.
I spent a year in Great Lakes for school and I volunteered in the Honor Guard on base performing at numerous parades and ceremonies. This week I have had multiple arguments with the staff and director at Saratogas YMCA over their lack of flag and flag pole decorum. When their flag pole wasnt at half mast all week as regulations dictates I addressed this with the Director who gave little to no concern about the issue but enjoyed giving me grief about how difficult a flag pole is to manage. When I explained that a simple app can notify you the flag position for the day and high school students can handle this across the country she blew me off so I went outside and cut the zipties that arent regs and lowered the flag to half mast to honor those murdered in the Texas massacre. It took a full minute of my time to correct this. Now Veterans day I swinged by and as my handy app dictated position of colors it would or SHOULD have been raised to full. Instead the flag pole was bear with no colors flying at all. In my opinion it looked like a giant middle finger directed at me and my fellow Veterans. I went inside to address this and since the Director wasnt there I tried talking to the next in command. What I got was a WASP receptionist who tried giving me excuses about not being a federal building so who cares if the flag pole is bare. I dont mind educating people about something they are ignorant about but if you have been educated and decide to stay wrong yo wont be respected moving forward until change happens. I Suspended my YMCA membership at Saratogas location due to the staff and managements unprofessionalism until this is corrected. I hope this outrages you as it did me.
Nice place to work out, staff seems friendly, and *far* cheaper than most other health clubs in the area.
Decent price but can be crowded. Excellent for kids.
Been member for over 15 years, had nothing bu good friendly service!!
Very personal and much variety!!!
