This is an absolutely fantastic way to kill a few hours if you are in any way interested in the history of New York and the wars the U.S. has been involved in.Incredibly well-curated, there’s just a wealth of artifacts and information that goes beyond the broad strokes that a lot of us know. Also, it’s free! There is a suggested donation, however, and that’s what helps keep this museum running so well.
This is a great place. The exhibits are varied. There is no charge to get in. An excellent way to spend a rainy day.
We have been here a few times and my son loves going to see whats new.
Stacked with information. Will definitely go again to soak it all in.
Fascinating look at New Yorks military involvement through the years. Includes everyday items, weaponry and uniforms, and bios and artwork plus detailed timelines and background info.
Very nice excibution.Highly recommended to visit with kids.Free entrance.
A fabulously organized and meticulously detailed museum, covering major American wars since the Revolution. The museum focuses on the role of New York in particular and soldiers, people and products from NY in these wars. Amazing to see the historical changes from 1700s to Vietnam. No charge, but donations appreciated. They also had a neat scavenger hunt for kids. A cant miss stop
Great museum. Needs more info on Vietnam and had nothing on the gulf war. History is still happening.
Great museum, its free, great exhibits and staff are very knowledgable.
Very interesting little museum located in an armory, which is the perfect setting. The museum charts New Yorks involvement in every major American war, as well as state militia (later national guard) activities in between. For a relatively small space, there are many interesting and well described military artifacts, very thoughtfully organized. The museum is operated by volunteers who seem happy to guide visitors and answer questions, and admission is free. The gift shop is also worth a look, as its sort of a thrift store of military books and collectibles that you wont find at a typical museum gift shop. When I was there, there was a collection of unassembled, new in the box model airplanes and ships from 30~40 years ago, and a great assortment of books.
Love this place it is great inside free to get in..
Loved this place! And the fellas who worked there were sweet, and very helpful and patient with our 6 and 10 yr olds. The kid scavenger hunt thing was VERY helpful to keep the kids entertained and quiet
Well-maintainted and organized exhibits. Very informative. FREE.
Excellent museum. Would highly recommend going to for an outing, there is a wide variety of exhibits from various conflicts our nation has participated in. It is well put together and the staff are very friendly and informative.
Excellent small museum of the New York Militia & New York Army National Guard. They have a well stocked, used military bookstore too. Lots of historical displays and it is located inside an original late 1800s armory! Place is also a research center which would be of interest to historical folks.

Great place to learn and refresh the history of our area and of the country. Great displays and information with people who are glad to help
My kids and I go to the museum every year on our way to an annual get away weekend. Weve been there about 5-6 years now and LOVE it! The veterans who help run it are wonderful, helpful and so knowledgeable about every single exhibit. My kids are teenagers now and STILL look forward to the annual visit.
