Great breakfast and lunch spot! The food is consistantly good, and the service is great! Awesome coffee to, definitely one of my favorite little hidden local spots in town!
We have been coming here for well over a year now. First we came for the jazz and music options, then we found the incredible menu and food, and now we also come to see the owner Didi and her amazing staff. They make it feel like family and friends coming together to share food, wine, and music.I am gluten free by choice and often struggle with choices, but Didi has many delicious options on the menu, and if you want a dish to be made gluten free, just ask. She usually has a few amazing suggestions. This is and will remain one of our favorite go-to places. Thanks Didi and crew,Jason and Liz
I recently had dinner here with a friend. It was not an impressive event. Three different people waited on us and none of them seemed to know what they were doing. We ordered soup and salad, which should have been very simple to prepare, but we waited over half an hour for our food.
Great find after we discovered there was a 2 hr wait were we had planned to eat. Good food & service! Sat in dining area & enjoyed jazz saxophone music drifting in from bar. Nice small plate appetizer selection for light eaters.
Tuesday night is Jazz night. Best musicians in Sarasota are there every Tuesday night from 7PM-10pm. Live music every night but Tuesdays are best though. Dont forget to bring some cash to tip these professional musicians as they play for the generosity of patrons only.
So here’s the deal. If you want to hear really good live music in an intimate space and enjoy a bottle of wine, then this place is for you!! If your looking to have dinner then do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. The food is mediocre at best and the service (although friendly) is pretty bad.
I would not give this place any stars at all. I have been there two times. The first time was for dinner and I asked the waitress about the butter garlic shrimp dinner and she said it was a big portion. I got the garlic butter shrimp dinner and the price was $17.95. I got five very small shrimp with a tiny scoop of rice and four or five small cooked carrots. The shrimp was not good at all. It came with a small salad almost the size that equaled two quarters coins. It was a joke I couldn’t believe it. I was still very hungry when I left and I had to stop by a drive-through on my way home.I thought I would try it a second time for lunch. I ordered a Caesar salad with chicken. A Caesar salad is usually served with real grated Parmesan cheese. The Waitress gave me Parmesan cheese that comes out of a can. The chicken had a very vinegar taste to it and I thought it was just going to be plain grilled chicken like it said on the menu. I have never left a bad review at any restaurant. This is the first time. Do not waste your time or your money at this restaurant. There are so many other restaurants downtown that are so much better. I hope this helps your decision.
Im from the north and on vacation in Sarasota I stopped at Burns Court Bistro. This place was Awesome! The food was fresh and delicious .I was surprised for the amount of food I received and enjoyed every bite of it .They had a great variety of drinks from coffees to teas to wines. The atmosphere was perfect .The staff was friendly and helpful. I will definitely be looking forward to going back and letting my friends know about this little gem .
It was surprisingly good. Not fancy or ornate but food was good and prompt and fairly priced. Nice owner and they have live music a few nights per week.
Under new management with a smart and charming brother sister team. Knowledgeable bartender. Super friendly atmosphere. Great jazz 7 days a week. Mostly evenings plus Sunday brunch. Delightful intimate atmosphere- - call ahead for a reservation. They need to work out the bugs on their website. Right now it’s hard to find out about the music.
Wonderful first visit. Polite staff, cute and homey setting. Food tastes like mama cooked it. I will be back. Coffee was strong and smooth. Excellent experience. I’m looking forward to an evening in the wine bar.
Intimate area for some music, wine and bites. The food is great, but the jazz music is even better. Make sure you go for the music (they charge a cover), if you arent into what is playing then head to a more spacious spot. The service is great and the bartender always has a wine suggestion for you to sample. Its the kind of place where you can become a regular.
Had a real good wine selection, the food looked incredible. The Jazz Open Mic night was off the chain. Great place
Sandwich was just okay. The Reuben had no 1000 island dressing. Waitress said they had homemade chips - they were out of a bag. One other couple in the restaurant for a late lunch, we became invisible to the waitress.
This place was great! The food was fresh and delicious, they had a great variety of drinks and their live music was fantastic! The atmosphere was perfect and the staff was super friendly and helpful. Definitely look forward to going back.
Great service in a comfortable setting. Always a great experience. An easy choice even if its just for an amazing dessert and an espresso with your date.
Excellent entertainment on Saturday night 7:30-9:30p with Brenda. Good wine and priced right. Excellent service!
Went for breakfast and enjoyed it in the sidewalk seating. Quiche Lorraine was really good and the server was helpful and friendly. Ill be going again very soon!
The soup was delicious and everything was fresh! The owner was a sweetheart too, very hardworking!
If you want a good Ruben sandwich and soup or what ever... it was made to perfection... Im always the when Tommy Goodman is playing his awesome jazz music...
Only giving 3 stars because the food was good but it was the worst service I have ever experienced. The back area we were seated in was hot, we waited a long time to get drinks, had to get up and get our own straws and napkins because when we asked it took over 15 minutes and they still never came and the service in general was extremely slow. Good for lunch if you dont mind the slow service.
Found a Groupon for Burns Court Bistro, so decided to try it for lunch. Great little place. We had one of their salads and the Rubin sandwich...both were very good. Looks like they have wine and live music at night, so going to try then one night as well. Give it a try, and the coupon was just like 50% off
Owners are super cool plus food is delicious! Great spot for us on vacation!
Best Reuben that I have had in Sarasota and possibly ever! My wife also really enjoyed the ham wrap. Service was excellent, probably going back for brunch tomorrow! That good!
Attended a jazz brunch with the Tommy Goodman trio playing. We could not believe that we had the privilege of hearing such great musicians in a small and intimate surrounding. Service was friendly and efficient, and meals were decent and moderately priced. A very small gratuity of $3.50 per person was added for the entertainers.- a tiny amount considering the talent involved.
Amazing service. They make you feel as family. Love their wine selección. Wednesday Jazz sessions not to be missed.
Breakfast service slow. Waitress took dishes away while still working on fruitThen hovered on top while I was paying with cashLike pushing us to get outOnly one other table at 9 amNot busy on Thursday morningHad beer there last night. Much better service
Great food, live music, happy staff. Love the place
A few blocks away from the bustle of Main Street, and about 30% the cost. Simple, tasty breakfast at a very reasonable price. Friendly staff, and really good cookies.
Great local art house cinema. Ive seen plenty of independent flicks here that later became highly critically acclaimed films showing in the big chain theaters after a distributor picked up the rights. Old school independent film house in the first order.
Great place to revisit! Under new management with new hours 8-9; its also open 7 days a week! Fresh bake goods, homemade soup, and a very friendly owner and staff.
The appetizer we had was only marginal and my Mimosa was made with prosecco instead of champagne.
Great entertainment! Small and intimate. Great wine selection. Lots of fun.
Love it here! Food is good, live jazz, good wine...what more do you want?
Good food with live music
Great jazz. Polite staff. Good food
Been going to this cafe for years and liked it very much, but now that it is under new management this place is incredible! The food has gone from good to fantastic. My wife says the quiche is terrific as the crust is tender, flaky, and thin enough to compliment, not overwhelm, the wonderful filling....something that many restaurants have not mastered. For myself, I cannot resist ordering the chicken pesto wrap. The chicken is of good quality, the pesto is phenomenal, and they go to the trouble to lightly toast the wrap which prevents that annoying soggy experience I have had with other restaurant wraps. I might add you dont get a wrap with loads of tortilla and nothing else like most places give you, instead you get the right proportion of tortilla and loads of chicken and other goodies in the superb pesto sauce..... As far as the homemade desserts go.....let me just say that if you dont order one, you will have missed a great opportunity for experiencing a bit of heaven! Bon appetit!!
I paid a lot of money for a snack. I suppose I shouldve gone to IHOP or Dennys if I wanted to have a filling breakfast. The tres leches was absolutely delicious however.
Just had a great lunch. Cool ambiance, like a little club in bar area. Jazz tonight and they are booked. Next week will go. Need reservations for all music nights. Dinner menu looks really good.
Nice people; good food
Great stop for bike ride
Jazz jam Tuesday night with James Varnardo is not to be missed. Til 10pm
Food is so fresh ! Under new management. I like how they have many healthy but also delicious options. Eat here a few times a week. My favorite!
Tuesday night Jazz music and open Mike is so much fun. Good food and service
Nice cappuccino, nice gluten free cookies!!!
Always good food, service and music.
Great food, great atmosphere and wonderful service. A must go if you are in the area. Oh. Great music too!
Welcoming atmosphere, Friendly staff, good food,
The food is good and fresh and the owners and staff are always pleasant. I highly recommend this place. I will defenetly be eating at Burns Court Bistro often!
Burns Court Cafe is a fantastic spot to stop for a sandwich or a salad. Staff are friendly, ambiance is good -- the place is a little cozy, but it works -- and the food is high-quality. Great little place for a leisurely meal in a nice part of Sarasota.
Great coffee spot! Super friendly
Good food, live jazz, decent prices, laid back atmosphere.
Great music food, Great wine and beer
Great food, lovely atmosphere and very friendly staff! Great location as well!
Coffee was excellent as was the service and omelet!
The Burns Court Cafe doesn’t even desire one star. We had high hopes for this quaint looking little café. We had a party of five and made reservations to celebrate my husband‘s birthday there mainly because they had a Brazilian Latin duo playing and my husband loves Latin music. All I can say is that the birthday dinner was A disaster due to their atrocious waitress who didn’t know the menu or proper customer service. She was probably one of the worst service I’ve ever had and completely inappropriate with her comments to our table and even complained to the owner about us in front of us because we simply asked for our food to come out on time and asked for cheese on our pasta. The manager didn’t seem to care either. All of our food came out sporadically some got her appetizers while so I’m got our entrées during our appetizers and my dinner didn’t come out until everybody was almost done with their dinners at the end of the evening. Then I asked for a piece of cake that I would pay for which I did at 7:50 a slice and the girl brings a candle and said they had no lighter to light the candle and never brought a fork so we had to eat it with a knife. Portions are extremely small and my sea bass which I paid $22 for just came out as one small fillet with some tomato sauce on the top and that was it no rice no bread no vegetables no potatoes no nothing! Not even a piece of parsley. Save your money and your time and go somewhere else and Sarasota. This place is a huge thumbs down!
Under new mgt... super nice owners with revamped wine menu, new tea, and great espresso. And 2/$1 home baked cookies- what?! Home to come back for live music.
Love this place, nice and cozy. Ill fully recommended. Staff is very friendly and food is good.
Amazing food, well priced, with an amazing location and vibe! I see myself making this a regular spot
I went there for the first time, to see Brenda Watty. Of the Marvelettes. She was so popular that the place was jammed( and I just found out that shes a regular!). I was with friends for dinner, everyone seem to be happy with their choice I had a delicious salad and a couple of glasses of Chardonnay I plan to go back often. Somehow or whether they squeaked out a miniscule dance floor and the place was absolutely rocking, even people outside the street were dancing with their arms in the air and Brenda Watty went out with their microphone to sing with them. A woman, Joann just wandered in off the street with a ecstatic expression on her face by herself and we all dance together, as if wed all known each other forever. There were moments when I close my eyes, dancing I thought we were in the room with Tina Turner!. I had one of the best evenings Ive ever had in Sarasota.
Great food, very good service, and reasonable priced menu. Must try in downtown Sarasota.
My first time here very packed but food was ok and for only having one waiter it hasnt been to bad of service. We came for the music Saturday night
Ok one of the best places to eat I’ve ever visited! We had the special for lunch—great Rubin and caprese salad; great wine. The wait was slightly long because our party was so long and the owner Treated us to dessert on the House.definitely a “not to miss” cafe.
This is a beautiful little restaurant that serves high quality and delicious food. The Burns Court area is just so beautiful to walk around and see and then to enjoy a nice lunch at the cafe brings it all together. We cant wait to get back there again.
Fabulous experience along with a lovely caprese sandwich on a delicious baguette
Rude & disorganized staff, long wait times both to order and receive food. Was here once before and had an ok experience, but I wont be back after today. Upped to 3 stars because salad was good.
Quick friendly and healthy food.
Food delicious. Quiche that melts in your mouth. Staff reserved and quiet.
Never thought Id say this but, loved the quiche! Great atmosphere and good service. This is also one of the cleanest kitchens Ive seen in my years in the business. Will be bringing my wife back here next week!
Im in town maybe 5 times a year and this is a must savor spot.Ambiance makes me miss France, and really their commitment to quality puts the other French-enthusiast local places to shame. Quiche definitely a must. The wine bar very sweet but shhhh... the owner while totally charming, isnt even French.
Better than Starbucks! The service is first class!
The best cafe I have been to since Paris! Superb selection and quality, great atmosphere and the nicest people I have met. It is one of my favorite places to grab a bite or dine, period. Great job!Chris K
Really good food quaint atmosphere
Great food, great atmosphere, amazing Jazz music. This place is First Rate material. Great bruschetta, salads, sandwiches, and wine. The staff was courteous and attentive. If you want old world European charm then you have to come to Burns Court Cafe.
A bit more expensive than my usual hang outs, but it was worth every penny. Great food, great atmosphere, amazing Jazz music. This place is First Date material. If you absolutely must make a favorable impression on some one and youd like to NOT blow your budget in the process, then get thee to Burns Court Cafe.
Great atmosphere..great food and live band
Food is tasty, and they have live music sometimes. Its a pleasant experience.
Cosey and extra friendly staff
Always a wonderful time at this sweet cafe! Great food, wine & live music! Renesito playing cuban music is a must see on Tuesday night!
Best food and java in S town....owner is a solid citizen and always take excellent care of patrons..... music scene is superb!
Great little cafe for lunch. I go there a few times a month.
Good entertainment mostly from October to April and good wine, but I didnt like the food
Had an iced caramel macchiato and it was awesome. The apple tart was delicious. So glad we stopped here
This place is amazing, the only things holding it back for 5 starts... is the day-time service! Bad service can destroy a restaurant, this is a great example
This use to be my favorite place for quiche Lorraine but not anymore. Prices are higher and my quiche was less what a disappointment!! Suffering from heartburn never again.
Excellent food and service.
Good food. Friendly staff.
Great food and music tonight!
Cozy cafe with night entertainment. Ambiance is great. Feels like Paris.
