Quite historic. JK, its only a little historic. Old shops and converted houses Nice Peanuts sculptures and a shady park with benches for slightly sketch people. Pretty good spot to meet up, especially youve taken the train. Visitors center has pamphlets and photos thatll take three minutes to appreciate.Beware the hipness of The Goat, if youre not too cool for coffee. But you stopped going before it was sooo two weeks ago.

Love the atmosphere the shops the restaurants.... Though since the shelter is close by and youre not familiar with the area there are transients around. But its not as bad as other cities... Just a heads up for those that may be shocked.

I love Railroad Square. Its an odd mix of touristy yet mostly historical for the locals. If youre looking for a small town feel on a staycation or visiting from abroad and want to experience the soul of Santa Rosa, this is the place to soak it in.

The historic district is a lovely place to take a walk. Grab a coffee at Flying Goat Coffee and if you are hungry stop in at Chevys for delicious Mexican food. Be sure to stop at the visitors center across the street. They have friendly people there who will tell you all about the Valley. We picked up some 2 for 1 wine tastings and other coupons while there. There is also a delicious Italian restaurant, an antique mall and other stores along 4th st. Be sure to check out the Historic hotel around the corner and eat breakfast at the Omelette

We visit Railroad Square several times a year for lunch, brunch or dinner at the several good restaurants and to browse the shops for vintage goods, home decor, or outdoor and running gear. Some of the old architecture is interesting and its just a fun place to wander on a pleasant day. Frist of all it is a very trendy area. Second There are only shops and restaurants no apartments, condos, deupexs and houses. Third there are Peanut characters all over the place. Last this is my favorite part of Santa Rosa.

This is one of my favorite parts of Santa Rosa. There is so much there, so much diversity and community. This was the transportation hub of all of Sonoma County and it will hopefully be more important again once the SMART Trains start actually carrying people. It was were much of the commerce took place for the entire County. While it is not the hub it once was, it is still culturally and economically important. It has fine energy and perfect examples of great local business, like the West End Farmers Market, Toad in the Whole Pub, The Arlene Francis Center and Bike Monkey and not so great. It is a hub of small businesses taking part in keeping things happy and healthy while making a living and with the perhaps necessary accents of big goofy Corp Business that is the antithesis of what make this place special!

Railroad Square is definitely beautiful and has that old small town feel to it. If you take a closer look around youll notice the big redwood trees, old can on the rooftop, various Peanuts cartoon statues and more! During the summer they have many events there ranging from classic car shows to the Wednesday night market.

It was OK, not really all that much to see and do. Our visit may have been different had we not had our dog with us on such a hot day. Just a few streets to walk. Parking fairly convenient (meters). Saw quite a large homeless grouping of people which made us uncomfortable enough to alter our route back to the car as it looked like something illegal was taking place.
