We just came early in the morning to look around. It wasnt really open yet. But there is a really nice little garden there with all kinds of women in aviators commemorated. Explaining quite a bit of history. That was nice. And, we could look through the fence and see some of the interesting aircraft they have there. There is a Garden there to Ms Hume I think who helped support and found the museum. The garden is not very well kept.
While ist is small, so you dont need to plan for many hours, but if you are interested in the history of flight and in particular the military aspect of that it has quite number of very nice exhibits in 2 hangars and an open air area. Including some unique pieces and information. Would not have expected such a treasure trove.
The veteran who guided me through the museum was patient, knowledgeable, and extremely nice. The museum has a great collection of artifacts, models, and tributes to aviations pioneers, including women. Its an absolutely lovely little gem in Santa Maria. Kids will love the airplanes and adults will love the history. Cannot recommend highly enough.
The museum has a great collection of artifacts and Its an absolutely lovely little gem.
Great little museum! The staff took the time to teach my children and patiently answered questions. They were kind and had an interesting collection. Very informative!
My children & I recently got a tour of the Museum. We learned so much about the history of aviation. It was amazing to see all the models of aircrafts. The thousands of models range from a couple inches to actual flown aircrafts. I highly recommend visiting the museum.
Always love learning about history. Spent 23 years in the Air Force. This museum has a lot of Air Force items.
Very quaint little museum to host a flight history theme. Its intriguing how the Bigelow hangar was a set from Disneys The Rocketeer, which was filmed on the southern part of the air field itself. Much to see and learn about the history of flight, with a pleasant collection of aircraft, including a replica of the Wright Brothers Flyer.
LOVED this small city air museum! Introduced my grandsons to the world of flight. We will return to Santa Maria in October for the air show!
Friendly, knowledgeable volunteers! Wonderful displays. Missing Beryl Markham. Would I bring visitors here? You bet!
Great place to learn about the local history.
One of the best air craft in the Navy. F-4 fly off the USS kitty hawk. CV-63 1981
Loved this museum, toured with a docent Ron Johnson. Amazing!
Great little museum worth stopping in to see. A lot of unique items.
Good little museum. Friendly staff. Recommend a visit.
They do a great job since the are all volunteers. Its hard to keep a place open operating like that. But doing so, keeps the entrance fee low. Great job!
Great little aviation museum and still growing. Well worth the time to check it out!
Awesome place to take the family
Showed up at 10am which was the oiginal time posted a month ago for opening. Found out they opened at 12 and waited. Nobody showed up. Drove 200 miles to see that place. Waisted our time and disapointed 2 kids and their father. How hard would it be to post a sign saying nobody is going to come in? Thanks a lot! What a waist of a trip.
Im not sure what the other reviewers saw? The docents were very rude and their proudest accomplishment was that Disney once shot a 2 star movie there. Even the airport management dislikes the way this museum is run.
Small, but very interesting place. The two docents were both from the industry and had some great stories to share.
Great place to spend some time and admire some aviation history and hear interesting stories from the staff.
Great, well experienced docents, amazing displays. Its well worth the time and money!
This museum is amazing would come back!!
Small place, but packed with planes, models and other artifacts. Docents are friendly and extremely knowledgeable.
So cool!!!
Good museum
Nice place
Very sad its obvious they have no funding to care for the materials they have and their volunteers dont know how to maintain a museum.
Amazing displays, and knowledge guides!
It sucks
Very nice
Both times I went it was closed at 3Pm when it says it closes at 4pm
