This is a must visit spot in Santa Fe. I really enjoyed this place. It is basically FREE but there is a box asking for donations. It is small and puts things into perspective, being what we are accustomed to living with. Take your time to admire the home. Very simple but practical. Remember its the oldest house in America. It is probably the size of a one car garage just split into two rooms. The gentleman in the gift shop was very helpful and extremely knowledgable. Dont forget to visit the oldest church in America right next door.
Please do yourself a favor and definitely go check this house out! Its was such a little gem of a place that will instantly humble you as well as surprise you! The 2 tiny rooms have everything you need to know about how, when, what happened during the building process of that era and contains all the knick knacks that go with the house!Theres a cute souvenirs store up front that has quite a collection of gifts you can purchase!
Proclaimed the Oldest House in the US (though I think there are some First People whom would make a good argument against that, and perhaps even some folks from parts of Florida) - but hey, who am I to judge. A couple of rooms remain as a museum, with some artifacts. Nice gift store. Oh, and parking (a plus in Santa Fe)...
Imagine how people lived in Santa fe 300 years ago. You can visit a small room furnished to help imagine what that was like in this “Oldest house in Santa fe.” The room is free to visit and there are even a few free parking spots outside this house. The 400 year old “Oldest Church in the United States” across the narrow street cost only a dollar or two. Well worth it!
Wonderful history in old Sante Fe. Simply amazing that it still exists. Very close to multiple other historic and religious sites, not to mention adjacent to the out door dining area of a great pizza place!
Historically important so worth a 10 minute visit. Very small and attached to a nice art/craft store. Fortunately admission is free and its easily added to a visit to the extremely venerable San Miguel Church which is only a few steps away.
Great administrator but besides the amazing museum itself & what it has to offer, he allowed my vehicle to stay parked there while I walked into the Plaza during a brief vacation stay- oh, the grief this saved me. Its the little things, as they say, that make all the difference. Thanks so much
Very fascinating. Im surprised this underrated historical site does not get more notoriety. I just happened to walk by it going from Downtown to the Kakawa House. Definitely stop in and be generous with the donation, hopefully this place will be preserved for years to come. Right across from San Miguel Mission/Church.
It’s an extraordinary place. Doesn’t take long to visit, even if you read the informative signs. It is worth going out of your way to see it.
Its my only two rooms to view but there is a great gift shop and I bought handmade dolls for my daughter made by a Navajo woman.
I felt that I traveled to the past when I was walking inside. There were some old tools that they used back then, and a coffin with a skeleton inside of it. Of corse the head was missing, but that is the beauty of it, because of the legend behind it.
My neice was so intrigued to step foot in here! Memories last a lifetime!
Cool place
It looks like a big building but theres really only two rooms to see so its quite a quick (but free) visit. Didnt visit the gift shop but it looked quite extensive. The house is right by the oldest church which is also a good visit.
Worth finding this hidden gem. Several parking spaces next to the gift shop. Take the time to read the photographs. If you visit in April you could bump into the headless ghost. Thumbs up.
Some interesting artifacts but I found the Same Miguel Chapel much more interesting.
Interesting place to see when visiting Santa Fe.
Quaint little place that claims to be the oldest house -- and it was very interesting to see and experience. It is easy walking from the Plaza, and there is a pizza shop just next door, if you get hungry. Watch your head as you enter the place. This old home is has very short doors! Check it out and enjoy.
Small but very interesting
Worth the visit! Old house with nice artifacts located in a gift shop. The woman running the shop was very friendly and knowledgeable about the surrounding area.
Really special experience. Urge you to share the experience with your friends as we did. The staff was so knowledgeable and friendly.
I enjoyed the Oldest House Museum. The house and exhibits were interesting. The gift shop personnel were also interesting and provided a lot of information about the house and Santa Fe, in general.
Interesting quick visit of a Pre-16th century residential dwelling. Theres a gift shop next to it. Free parking.
Super cool place to see. Amazing history. Cute little gift shop with surprisingly decent prices.
Its interesting because its old, but its not much to see really. There are two rooms, full of mostly tacky decorations and some very old stuff that might or might not be original to the house. The rest of it is gift shop. I enjoyed most seeing the outside - a simple but beautiful structure.Just across East de Vargas Street is the oldest church in the continental US, the San Miguel Mission.
The adobe structure dates back to the early 1600’s.This is a very small place just right beside the oldest church in America, the San Miguel Mission. It was nice to see the house in my own eyes, with its earthly smell and eerie feeling once inside. The house is now partly a museum and a gift shop. This old house is only a 10-minute walk from the plaza. Sure, it is worth a stop for a 5-minute photo op!
Great place to visit

Worth visiting and its free
Wonderful piece of Native American and Mexican History. The flutes, gorgeous, the price... fiuuuuuu!!
Tiny but with a great gift shop. One of those places you have to visit. Parking behind chapel next door.
The museum is tiny and is attached to a gift shop, but its hard to knock something this unique and free.
Interesting find! Its very small. Very confusing knowing what was part of the old house and what was fixed.
Cute place to visit. Free and able to take pictures. Based off donations.
A lot of history, a must see. Parking is tricky.
Amazing to see this place still around!
Very interesting and the little gift shop has amazing stock which is cheaper than other places.
You need to see this place while visiting Santa Fe. Very interesting.
It free to vist the person is helpful has a map of Santa fe places
A quick five minutes of your time! The house is only two rooms, with a gift shop bigger than the house! The lady there (Barbara) was very knowledgeable on what all the native goods meant and symbolized. Nice place to support!
Small, but interesting, museum, free admission.
Cute...kind of small, but understandable. Interesting to take a quick little look at the past!
Interesting... And loved the museum
I really liked this stop. Yes it is a small 2 room house with a gift shop attached. If you take the time and really want to know about the house, its history and what was found in around and under it. Take as few extra minutes and READ what the pictures and displays tell you. Feel the struggles of those living here and the people who went out of their way to save it .. over and over again.Drop a few bucks in the box and help them keep the house up an running FREE to anyone who will pass thru the doors. Please give a little or purchase some of the unique items in the shop.
Very welcoming. Great atmosphere.Definitely a must if you are in Town.
Nice stop. Nice owners. Oldest church and Capitol Complex in same area. All are worth visiting.
Very interesting house. Extremely friendly staff.
Fun visit with interesting history.
Its really old. People were either very short at the time or 7 foot timbers were scarce. Can get crowded if a tour bus arrrives.
Great tourist shop. Great display of old house
Go for the gift shop, staff is very helpful and friendly. Wished the house had a little more history available. Fun for a quick pop in and break from gallery hopping.
Good for a quick visit, the thick walls and charmingly furnished two rooms are worth your while.
Great historical place to visit!
Unfortunately, went there on Thanksgiving day when it was closed. Only could watch from outside.
Not only the oldest house but great jewelry and Native goods that are high quality unlike many places on the Plaza. Knowledgeable staff!
Glad we stopped in. The woman at the gift shop was very informed about the history of the place. Nice piece of Santa Fe history.
Simple but interesting
You have to see this place while in town
Very old but not much else. It is cool and free.
Really small, but wonderful.
Small historic adobe structure. Small gift shop.
Amazing little place.
Worth a trip when spending a day meandering through Santa Fe. A two room museum and gift shop.
Super cramped tourist gift shop. The free museum part is neat to see but is very small & can be seen in less than 5 minutes.
Small and quick, but interesting.
Anyone who knows New Mexico knows that this is far to new to be the oldest house in the US. However its nice to see and has a cool feel to it.
The older the better!
Not much to see here beyond a fairly standard gift shop and two rooms filled with a few items of historical interest. No entry fee.
Free to check out. Very small.
A must see if you are in the area.
Small, free. Interesting to visit.
Amazing place, fascinating to learn how the earliest settlers lived in Santa Fe.
Disappointed. It was not what I expected.
Quaint and charming.
Right next to oldest church
Small place with a very pleasant gift shop
Wow. The history in those walls.
Very crowded (to much stuff), a lot of kitchy souvenirs and a few unique ones, a few artifacts to see, gave 3 starts because its free to visit.
It was alright, nothing spectacular!
A must see place while visiting Santa Fe.
Cute.
Worth a stop!
Very interesting visit in Santa Fe.
