After you get into to the park off the main road be prepared for some slightly rough driving. The roadway isnt paved and is a little more than a dirt path. If your car is low to the ground you might scrape the bottom. The main parking area, at the end of the road is really well maintained. Lots of portable bathrooms are nice.Climbing to the top of the rock is certainly doable but coming down is a little tricky. If you take your time and have some decent shoes youll be okay. If you wear flip flops and youre drunk youll likely die when you fall over the edge. Finally, I went on a weekend morning and there were a lot of people there. Id say hundreds of people had the same idea I had and thats fine. Just dont expect it to be you and Kirk and the Gorn.

Great towards the end of a crisp spring Sunday when the light is low along with the number of people.

At Vasquez Rocks on May 11, 2019, I took a photo of a film set covered in plastic sheets, not knowing what it was. Now I know it was for the 2020 series Star Trek: Picard. I think it was used for a scene in episode two when Picard goes to visit his former first officer, a woman who lives at Vasquez Rocks.Park employees had said it might be a car commercial or something like that. Maybe they didn’t know, or they needed to keep it a secret.

Love Star Trek? You will love this spot. Great photo opportunity. Much closer for Angelinos to come here than to Tellar Prim, Nimbus III etcLive Long and Prosper

Just like the tv series - waiting for Captain Kirk to appear! Disappointed with the information station though - not a person in sight all the time we were there. The dvd show was well done and gave an insight into how the area was formed - especially geared to entertain children.

A lot of sulphur and saltpeter and charcoal laying around. Nice area but the Gorn can get a little testy.

Really neat rock formations here, I highly recommend it. Just beware that if you run across any hissing giant green lizard people, DO NOT attempt to make first contact. Theyre super strong and they are known to throw boulders at humans.

You have most likely seen these rock formations in movies or TV. The park has ample parking and would make an incredible day excursion with picnic, for a family visiting Los Angeles. Its about 46 miles north of downtown Los Angeles. The park does close at night, so it likely is not a camping spot. There are plenty of camping spots in northern Los Angeles county, so this could well be part of a plan to see parts of the country outdoors action.

There were no Gorn here, so I was alittle upset. I have wanted to fight Gorn most of my life . I have trained and trained to hunt Gorn and after walking over most of this region I am happy to report my shirt was not torn off and all Gorn have left this planet. Many people do approach this area carrying various forms of handheld equipment. Do not be alarmed by them. Make sure if you see people hunting around trees and rocks to stop yourself from staring at them them belong to a very special species of human the geo- cac-h-er. They only require pens and put themselves thru extremes of heat and cold to find their special places. :-)
