What a beautiful spot. The architecture and history cannot be argued with. The gardens were immaculate and well tended. The interior of the mission exuded a feel that had me contemplating the sheer history.Seeing a cork tree was spectacular too.

As a mission it has to rank low. The mission is pretty much gone. It has been integrated into the University. Its nice to see the church itself survive but it does not have anything that make it like the other missions. Still Nice.

This is still an operating church used for the university. The self guided tour was full of great historical facts. The rose garden adjacent to the mission building was very beautiful. There are a couple of old olive trees to the west of the building that were around since it was first built.

As many other Missions in California, the upgrades were too much but made with the best intentions to preserve and present to the public an accurate version of what they used to be. It would be excellent if they offer tourist guides as there is in many others. The acoustics on the church is very nice, we heard a lady playing the piano as we entered and the sound was very nice.

The very First CA Mission was built in 1777. ( Due to various fires- Mission Santa Clara ( the Mission) had to be rebuilt three times)!Santa Clara is one of the very first missions to be named after female Saint. Bravo. While, three fires have devastated the property in all these decades...this very Spectacular Space. is guaranteed to take your breath away.As of late, there was a spectacular renovation done.Look Up! Stunning.I bet, thousands of students have entered these holy walls and prayed for better grades, help on a test, or getting a date. For generations, SCU students have attended Sunday Night Mass at the Mission.

How fascinating to have one of Father Junípero Serra missions integrated into an historical California university. What remains of the mission itself is minimal, but there are remnants and a good number of notable plants and artefacts.A beautiful site to see, if only for a lovely walk around the campus, and an intake of California history in another sense.

Beautiful campus and the church has a well attended noon Mass. Lovely church and its quiet enough for a visitor who wishes to pray undisturbed. The church provides a nice little brochure for a self guided tour of the interior and immediate exterior surroundings. Its now part of the Santa Clara University grounds, and parking is by permit only and spaces are limited. Worth the visit. The campus bookstore could have better postcards with clearer photo quality. I would have liked close up pictures of the St. Clare statues over the altar and front entry.

This is the second priest I have found in my entire life (the first a Greek Orthodox lawyer!!!) who genuinely moves me with his sermons! The place is wonderful, and, if youre going to park there, go to one of the nearby garages: they have shuttles that will bring you to the church if you dont want to walk. Its a very sweet place full of children and happy, welcoming people.

You stop at the kiosk on the way in and tell them you want to go to the mission. Theyll give you a two hour visitor parking pass and direct you where to park. Youll be facing the entrance of the Mission as you pass the kiosk. You can almost always enter the mission from the door to the right of the main door, even if there is a service or wedding going on. Near that entrance is a display of the history of the mission - quite interesting. The acoustics are quite good. Dont hesitate to sit quietly in the back no matter what is going on. The paintings, alter and just the atmosphere are all lovely. Ive visited many of the 21 missions and this is one of the most beautifully restored. Be sure to go to the area to the left of the mission to see one of the oldest standing walls.

We attended a Catholic wedding here. The place is impressively beautiful! The surrounding is clean and well manicured. The -1 -we had a hard time finding the church. It was at the middle of nowhere, that you need to park in a vicinity 100mts away from it. It took us almost 30minutes driving around the area to dead ends. No complaints. Seeing beauty of the church made us forget the bad experience.

Lucky the kid who gets the famed and historical Santa Clara Mission for their CA Fifth Grade Mission Project.Enter this lovely church with reverence and take in the history. The Mission - went through an extensive 2019 restoration - and, it is spectacular.Historically, the Mission actually burned down three times.Socially, generations of SCU students have attended Sunday Mass at the Mission. It has alway been a tradition.

Pretty much all of the 4th graders in California do a social studies project about the California missions. My son is no exception. So, while were were on vacation, we also stopped in as many missions as we could. Since we were in the Bay Area, we decided to stop at the mission in Santa Clara. This mission is very well restored and maintained. Im guessing this is because the mission is incorporated into a college campus. The grounds are very nice. The standout feature is the church. Exceptional architecture, artwork and ambiance. They have a self guided tour and a couple brochures. Try to visit in warmer months so you can enjoy the rose garden.

Simply spectacular mission church. Take the time to make a visit and appreciate the most interesting historical significance...fascinating history about the number of times the mission burned down...The Mission has been a respite for students for a century ....whether one prays before or after an exam...or attend Sunday night mass. Lucky the couple who are wed at the beautiful Mission.

This is a beautiful and well-maintained California mission church on the serene Santa Clara University campus. It has a very active parish and the masses are traditional with great music - especially the student mass Sunday night that pulls from the talent of the student body. Really amazing and beautiful church right on campus at Santa Clara University! It has a really wonderful mission looking church! The sermons were great here when I attended and the community of students were very lively. The Jesuit priests here are very interactive and engaging. A good deal of students get married here and I can understand why they do.Other tips about this place: no bathrooms inside the church youll have to got the building labeled Oconnor to the right of the church. Also, take a peak at the mission gardens right next to the church, very beautiful.
