Fantastic hike up to Tangerine Falls. There is only a trickle of water at the 100 ft cliff face that is the main falls and the final stop on this hike today November 24th, 2020 but there are still crystal clear pools and tiny cascades of water as you scramble over boulders throughout this picturesque and challenging hike.Take the left trail just across the single lane Bridge, about a half mile in cross the creek then look for a brown pressure treated 4x4 post marking a small trail that leads past a couple of boulders, stop and try the boulder problems if youre a rock climber, otherwise continue down the narrow trail and head up the creek. Youll need some decent scrambling skills to continue about a mile up the creek to the falls. Tread lightly and respect the ecosystem, pack out your trash and keep this beautiful hike open for others.
The Cold Spring Trailhead leads you on paths to some spectacular views. The trailhead lies at the end of a very twisty road that can be hard to navigate, and parking is limited to the side of the road. This particular trail leads you up along one of the mountain ridges that overlooks the Santa Barbara region. The first half-mile of trail is of easy difficulty and well shaded from the sun. After 1 mile you will have great views of the city below and the surrounding foothills. If you continue upwards you will encounter more strenuous hiking conditions in direct sunlight. Be sure to bring lots of water! For skilled hikers and determined sightseers, the top of Montecito Peak is a great destination. This hike is an 8 mile round-trip trek, up very steep and difficult terrain. But for those who succeed, the views are incredible! #hike #mountain #santabarbara #montecito
Nice hike a bit steap when coming down but the view is worth it when you get to the top.
Los Padres Teail Crew and volunteers are repairing this trail. Tricky parking currently. County has installed rockfall protection cable mesh. Next up is Broadway reconstruction on east side of creek. Then, a new bridge. In a few years, it will be at full capacity to allow for trail access. Patience required.
Epic trail. Has changed since the montecito mudslides, but is fully hikeable and looks 100% rideable! Great trail with outstanding views and some decent vertical gain. Moderate to strenuous hike depending on your chosen hike length.
Very nice and not easy hike. Especially the west fork to tangerine falls.
I hiked this with my dog the other day. Yes, it does say the trail is closed, however we pushed on. The trail is actually very well maintained, which makes me wonder why its still technically closed. This hike is fairly easy and moderately trafficked. There are many parts of the trail that are covered, so even on a sunny day you should be alright. Its not my favorite hike, by any means, but definitely a fun one to check off the list and take your pup.
Beautiful hike and trail, it had just opened when we went (late may 18) so was a little washed away. The road leading to the trail head was also shut, so you have to park half a Mile or so from the start, but only a short walk. Stream was beautiful, we hiked for an hour or so, got quite narrow after that so we headed back, but was a lovely vista
One of the more accessible hikes in Montecito. The trail offers a great view after very little hiking but you got the option to keep hiking farther up and in for more panoramic views. It can get difficult if you stick with it the whole way but very worth it. The mudslides blew out the bridge so the best way to get there now is via Olive Mill to E Mountain Dr. The trail says its closed but its been well used recently with an easy trail path to follow. Give it a go and youll be mindblown by the destruction that the mudslides caused.
Trail Closed! I went there on the 30th July and there was a sign at the start of the trail bead saying it’s closed for extensive work to the trail. No mention on google it’s closed so make sure you don’t go!
Amazng off leash trail
Wonderful hike
Tough hike to the top, but worth the effort. The lower part was actually CROWDED with people, come out to see actually WATER in the creek, thanks to our recent rains. Parking was ok when we got there, Sunday at 8:30, but overloaded by mid-afternoon - but this was a special day to see the canyon.
High traffic trail
Parking is usually available here. Great hikes to Montecito Peak or the tangerine falls
Alas, the Cold Spring trail was devastated by the Thomas Fire mudslides on 1/9/18. It is destroyed and closed.
