We just finished our first year of competitive soccer with our 7 year old son! Prior to this year, wed done many years between both kids of AYSO rec, but playing on the Matrix team is a whole other level which is unmatched. There was incredible camaraderie between the boys as well as the parents...we really all got to know each other so well during the (long) season. Not only has our sons love of the game grown stronger, but his soccer IQ grew immensely due to our awesome Coach (Coach Junior) and it was so fun to see the level of play grow exponentially with each passing month. The price was just right for us to enter into competitive soccer and we look forward to another awesome year with NC Matrix!
We have thoroughly enjoyed our experience with North County Matrix! The coaches really care about the kids and promote a true family environment. They also coach the beautiful game the right way playing out of the back to maintain possession, get the entire team involved to encourage players to improve their skills and get them thinking for themselves on the field to develop the complete player.
Never once in over the year that weve been with this club have I heard a coach curse at a kid at this club, in fact that couldnt be further from the truth.I have a daughter finishing up her first year here and she has been nurtured, and supported in what could best be described as a family atmosphere. They are welcoming to her younger sister coming out on the field often, and the coach (Junior) has taken a fairly new group of girls to an incredible team that is winning tournaments the right way (passing, teamwork, buildup play, etc.).By all means show up at a practice, game, or tournament and witness how this club is run for yourself. It is top notch.
My son had an extremely positive experience and the most amazing coach. He truly cared about all of the kids and went out of his way to help them improve, while always encouraging them and keeping it fun. My son cant wait to play again this year!
Their team of coaches and staff and administrators are all amazing, they train both girls and boys, pretty much all ages. All practices and games are close in San Elijo and San Marcos. Their coaches are Brazilian certified coaches and former players and i cant say enough good things about them. My daughter and two boys love this club and i would recommend them to any parents looking to sign up their children in competitive soccer throughout the year.
My brother came home from almost every practice and game crying because the coach yelled at him all the time. We thought the whole idea of being on the team was so he could develop and improve his soccer skills but the coach constantly yelled at him and put him down. My brother rarely got put into the game because he didnt get the practice he needed from the coach. That further took away from his learning experience because he ended up sitting out for the majority of all games and wasnt able to even experiment with his skills and try to learn on his own. A league for 7 year olds should not be entirely focused on winning every game but should be focused on teaching the kids how to play and helping them develop the skills necessary to be successful with soccer.
We’ve been with matrix for several years and have always enjoyed the games, the team, community and families. My son has improved year after year and had fun and made strong friendships too!
I attended every practice and game the entire season, and yes, coach junior does, in fact, scream at the kids. My son told us he would tell him on the sidelines not to tell his parents that he was screaming bad words. No adult should ask children to keep secrets from their parents, ever. Both my wife and I addressed him with our worries, and he did not try to resolve them. Rather, he proceeded to tell my wife that our son is annoying and that all the parents on the team think the same. So much for the comradarie mentioned in another review. Adults should have better things to do than talk badly about kids. Were happy to be moving on.
Our daughter is about to wrap up the first season with coach Junior, we want to express our sincere thanks and appreciation to Coach for putting in his 110% effort to bring a group of new girls together and making an incredible team out of them winning championship after championship. We all had our ups and downs at the start trying to know each other but we have learned to respect one another and together, we are all so happy we are a part of this team with Coach Junior leading the way.He has worked hard and our girls respect him so much. We can see how much the girls have grown and improved with Coach Junior. We Are looking forward to continue strengthening this incredible bonds for our girls and be a part of this wonderful Matrix family. Both our children have played for a few other clubs BUT there is no comparison to our experience at Matrix. We love all the coaches. It’s a tight knit community and we feel so welcome and loved.Coach Vela, thank you so so much for ALL that you have done this year to this club. You are truly an amazing person inside and out. Our kids love love love you.To our son’s Coach, Coach Scharin, you are an incredibly amazing coach, so well respected by many. We are so lucky to have had an opportunity to have you as coach.North County Matrux family, we love you and we are looking forward to many more years together.
Our daughter was ready to stop playing soccer two years ago when we found North County Matrix. The coaches, her teammates, and the emphasis on teamwork, sportsmanship and real soccer skills (not just kickball) made her fall back in love with the sport and truly enjoy the last two years.
Terrible experience. Coaches curse at the kids and no one does anything about it. I wish we never signed up for this club. So many better ones out there. Do your research! Its cheaper for a reason.
We just finished our first year of competitive soccer with NC Matrix and Coach Junior. Our son had only played AYSO prior but quickly learned soccer positions and fundamentals. The family atmosphere and comradeship of this team is unparalleled. The practices are close which saves a ton of car time and the price fitting to a membership for a 7 year old.We appreciate our Coach and team family. We are blessed to be a part this team and program!
