Perfect place for a getaway, with the family or a couples getaway. The room facing the lake was very nice and the view was beautiful. There are restaurants within walking distance and dining is available dockside. Lake House Resort has different activities for the family. Definitely recommend and will return.
This would be a best kept secret that is a must visit for breakfast or lunch. Highly recommend dinner at the location also. It not a bad location for a round of golf or some practice sessions on your game.
Awesome hotel and the pool area rocks. But, the beds are literally only six feel long from head to foot. Im six feet tall and my feet dangled off the bed a bit, that being said, the bed are quite comfy and the rooms are modern and cool. Also check out the marina and go for a kayak, stand up paddle or water bike ride! Definitely coming back for another visit!
Its a beautiful place. Bar at the poolside with a lake view. The view is everything really. Customer service was good with the exception of the bartender by the pool. My husband and I we 2nd in line behind a group of 5 and it took 30 min until we got to order then it took another 15 min for him to take our order, make our drink and ring us up. The line behind us was ridiculous and no one else was sent out to help this incredibly slow bartender. My husband and I had a room looking out to the pool where there were 10 grown adults in the jacuzzi sharing shots from the bottle during our COVID pandemic. Thats was hardly the issue, these people were yelling from the time we got there until 8p which was when we decided to leave because we wanted a good nights rest. To me, even though the parents were okay getting plastered while the kids played off to the side if this is something you like then its a great place to party poolside with kids. My husband and I went to enjoy a nice romantic, quite stay and it didnt provide that so we left. I would definitely NEVER bring my kids due to the drinking, drunkenness and profanity that you could hear being yelled from your room. So I would say this is Not a family friendly place.
This place was a great getaway during the stress of a Pandemic. Took the family here for a few days and cruised to the dam in a pontoon rental provided by Lake San Marcos Marina. Hit the lake on the weekdays and you’ll find it to be less crowded. Dog friendly was a plus. Took my guard dog Thor and he had a blast too. I have already recommended to other family members and I would definitely return. The pool areas are nice, with a fire pit and warm towels available if a wind should bring a chill. Fast food places nearby within a mile or so make it easy to accommodate picky eaters. There were some ants and moths around, as if we were next to a big lake, not enough to spoil my time though.
Loved this spot. The morning coffee is probably one of the best I have had. A great getaway with friends. The pool, hot tub and marina are a great asset, with nighttime s’mores, golf driving range (BYO clubs). It was a very relaxing time. Sadly we didn’t find any smooth bike trails, and weren’t able to rent clubs at the driving range. Next time we will prepare accordingly!
We stayed at this extraordinary resort. The pictures speaks for itself. There are so many little touches with this resort such as s’more at fireplace, 2 pools, lake view room, etc. you can come here on many different occasions. At a personal level, we had the pleasure of talking to Brook and enjoyed our conversation. Her exceptional service and positive attitude toward each person she came in contact with great to see. Thanks Brook for making our stay more enjoyable. Will be back at this resort soon.
Such a stunning location, wow! However, I will say this place is more of a retreat. You come here to relax, enjoy the food and nature. If you are looking to party, please do not come here. There is so many beautiful families that stayed here and their children loved the pool and jacuzzi. I work In Spain (remotely) and I would get up before everyone to get my workout! Breauna (I hope I spelled that right), Nick and several front desk staff were so helpful, kind, and respectful. Since I have family in the area, it has become the ultimate stay-cation for me!Thank you for your hospitality! This 23-yr-old college student will be returning!
Great place to stay and relax! My wife took me here for my birthday we had a great time. I was able to golf on the beautiful golf course and relax. we will definitely be back, if youre thinking about staying here book it, you cant go wrong and if youre looking for a great place to eat while you stay here just check out Mama Kats restaurant near by!
We have been visiting the Lake House Hotel for 4 years now. When we first start started we were blown away at how amazing it was. Clean, wonderful beds, great service. The pool was beautiful, the room service delicious. Now it seems it has been deteriorating, to rooms at no longer as clean, the pool area is getting thrashed, the nice loungers have been removed, some of the shades don’t work. They no longer offer the room service that we loved. It seems that it is now full of drunks getting away for party weekend, obnoxious and dirty, leaving a mess behind. Not the 4 star boutique hotel we loved, now just another thrashed resort.Very disappointed
2nd time here and its truly a mini escape from the world. Lakefront experience in heart of the city. Two pools plus fire pits and water activities are for the win
The place was great. Views were awesome. Only downside was the room AC we stayed in wasnt strong as it should be. It was quite uncomfortable sleeping with that temp. I like my room cold. The air was blowing weak. Other than that, the place was great.
My son and wife and myself had a awsome time here!! The staff was incredible! Mike at the front desk was GREAT! And the girls as well! House keeping supervisor was great and very helpful. We stayed in cottage 6103 then moved to 6105 and loved it! We also enjoyed the wings at the lower decoy restaurant (super yummy!). Mike at the boat rentals was also very helpful and pleasant. Cant wait to return!
Great weekend get away, stay close but feel like your out of town. Nice lake, boat rental and dock side restaurant.
Enjoyed our stay here, would definitely stay again. Water sports on site is a fun way to start the day!
Great ambience. Good place to soak some peace and quiet slathered in tranquility
Great Lakeside view and was very quiet with exception random kids getting dropped off
Small in the room like one star motel. Not clean on the room. Rating one star
Cool property. Great pool area.
I love this place, however this trip I decided not to stay. I drove up and it was so busy and I did not see people wearing a mask even the cleaning staff was not wearing a mask therefore I left I did not feel safe.
Love this wonderful lakeside resort, golfing, hiking, night out and much more vocational activities.Second time here and looking forward more to come.
Was really beauriful, would absolutly reccomend gettinf lunch/dinner at the marina, great food, without being too excessively priced, amd right on the lake.
Excellent place to go for vacation. The ambiance and people are very friendly. Staff is great, and helpful. They have some amenities to keep you busy while on the lake. Highly recommended!!!
My company had a group of 9 people come in for a stay, dinner, meeting and other meals. We found the rooms to be excellent. Dinner and the serving staff were totally top notch, great menu choices, excellent meals and swift, quiet and unobtrusive service. The meeting room was set up great..all the presentation capabilities were flawless, coffee and lunch were perfectly offered and brought to us. Total home run! Really love the culture among the staff..very friendly and helpful and competent. Ive been all over the country to meetings. This place is the best!

Had a wonderful weekend and was very impressed by the rooms, staff, grounds and the atmosphere was phenomenal. I dont do many reviews but this place was so impressive that I felt obligated to rave about it. The bar tenders, marina staff, restaurant staff, house keeping staff and front desk are all great. I will definitely be back soon and will recommend to friends and family. Thanks again for the great weekend.
Even though we had a late check-in and missed being able to check out the pool, the lake, and all the other amenities and activities this place has to offer, The Lakehouse was a very comfortable place for a nights stay. Clean, warm, and comfortable. Also loved the smore kit we were given upon check-in. Outdoor fire pits were already out, but they let us roast our marshmallows inside the lobby next to the fireplace. Thanks for a yummy dessert and good nights sleep, Lakehouse!
I dont remember his name but was the only guy working Friday night on 7/24/2020 Asian lookinng guy. Needs to get fired. Was very rude didnt help at all. He was in a bad mood and very short when explained about the hotel.Completely ruined my weekend if Im writing this on Saturday night. Everything else is great except for him. It takes a lot for me to write a review good or bad . He just definitely pushed my buttons
Front Desk Concierge are VERY unfriendly.I have called twice to get details on a 2 bedroom cottage and both times the men had very poor customer service. Since I didn’t have a good experience with the first call, I decided to wait a week and call again for a better experience which just unfortunately wasn’t the case.I asked very basic questions and wanted to know what precautions they were taking for Covid which the reply was very vague and uninformative. They missed out on $1500+.Their customer service definitely does not reflect the image they are trying to portray. Bad management I’m assuming.
Great stay, spacious rooms and always clean, great wet room too! I love to spend the time in Decoy restaurant and bar, upstairs very nice and downstairs more causal but still great!Beautiful lake view too, used also the swim facilities too and loved the salt water pool!Decoy bartenders were on it! Amazing team Matt and Jon what a legends!
Checked in on May 27, e very think looked good, got up on Thursday to make coffee and my boyfriend stepped in a hole in the tile. It really is a good thing I didnt get my high heal caught in it, I may have been hurt pretty bad. As with anything else, when something goes wrong, you start to see everything. The lock on the door that goes to the next room, the handle is all but broken off. To say that was all would be a great mistak, but I am sure I cant post it all. Be safe and check everything out when you check in.
I want to thank this hotel for refunding our reservation. We had booked our travel prior to the COVID-19 pandemic.I appreciate their flexibility and helping us out after our planned event was canceled. It is very much appreciated.
Great place! Must get a pontoon at the marina or even a gondola ride :)
Fun place to have a few appetizers and drinks with friends or family and rent a pontoon boat to coast around the lake
In light of recent events, I called to cancel/request credit for the reservation I made. However, the person I was forwarded to on the phone did not answer and never returned my call as I left a message explaining the situation. I plan on calling again to see if they will give me credit for the reservation but an email or phone call would have been appreciated.
I dont know how people are giving this place good reviews. It was disgusting and dirty and looked like it hadnt been cleaned ever. There was no social distancing and no one was wearing masks and they told me they dont enforce it. Horrible.
Very good lunch and we split the pulled pork sandwich which came with fries and we added a bowl of smoked tomato basil soup to our lunch. It all was delicious. Our waiter was fantastic!! He had a great personality and was happy to be there and it showed. It was my birthday and we got a beautiful dessert that we split and it was beautifully said out in the plate with writing of happy birthday around the edge of the dish. We like dining here for breakfast and lunch as its not crowded. Dinner can be busy and not busy. Breakfast and luck provide great views of the lake. I wish I could remember the waiters name but he was young and blonde so I hope that management gives him a part in the back as he was on top of things and a true pleasure to have him wait on us!
The pool was cold, but told me is was heated when I called. Plus no one was following the rules on Covid-19 which they published in writing so it wasn’t unforced by there staff.
My flight was late so when I arrived the restaurants & room service were closed but the young lady at the desk, I believe her name was Jana, was EXTREMELY helpful and kind. She got me a sandwich and filled my ice bucket! The room was very nicely appointed and comfortable, too.
This place is very much a relaxed country club feel. The food was excellent, there is plenty to do with golfing, fishing, walking and relaxing too. I had a lake facing lodge, it was immaculate, spacious and very, very peaceful. Some of the best sleep I have had in months with a super comfortable bed too.
A great place to stay! Very comfortable beds too and love the pools!
Very nice, staff friendlysocial distance and they wore masks. Most patrons didnt.
We had a great time at this resort. It was a great home base for our day trips. We loved the room. It was clean and provided a great view of the lake. Very comfy bed, couch and chairs. Amenities were plentiful. We happened to arrive the same as the farmers market next door so that was also a pleasure. It is in a small community but it feels private. However since it is in town you can pretty get whatever you need at the local shopping centers. They had bikes, kayaks, boats all available at the marina which were steps away from our room. Two pools on site all with plenty of loungers. They had a restaurant/patio bar on site with great views and good food. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would like to come again with the family.
I can see why this place has a 99% rating on Hotels Tonight. Super chill spot. Room is nice and the bed is very comfortable. Upgraded to the water front room which was well worth it.Really enjoyed the small details and design features here from the hipster Field Guide to the fish decoration hanging above the bed. The shower stall is also very spacious and comfortable.Location is pretty convenient as well. A quick search shows a good array of restaurants around. Really glad I stumbled on to this resort only 30 minutes from San Diego.
Great service, atmosphere and food. Nice get away.
Super cool! Nice waterfront location, would suggest to anyone. Pedestrian traffic is heavy through the area.
Nice and well-maintained lakeside hotel with good amenities. Beautiful area
What an incredible stay! Pay the extra bucks for the lake view! It is so relaxing. You can feed the ducks, rent a boat or paddle board. Great bar and restaurant.
Just love love this place. Located in a quiet neighborhood. Pool, rooms and service well worth the price. Beds are comfortable! Cant wait to go back very soon to relax!
This was a very clean property and the staff was professional and courteous. We particularly appreciated Chris at the front desk. The location on the water can’t be beat and the food and drink at the restaurant were terrific. The pool and grounds were nicely kept and the fireplace and the Smore’s at check-in were a terrific touch. We were a little baffled that the pool doesn’t open until 9 AM. My wife is an early riser and she usually enjoys sitting by the pool early in the morning with a cup of coffee.Otherwise this place was terrific and we would recommend it.
Ditto to all of the previous positive reviews! This place was fantastic. It’s definitely worth the uncharge for a pool or lakeside view. The parking lot view rooms are much lower quality (I think all the negative reviews are from people who stayed in those rooms), but I would say the price they charge for them is reasonable, especially considering the additional amenities that come with staying there. $19/each for a 3 course meal from 5 - 6 pm at the restaurant, with happy hour specials, was delicious and a fantastic value! S’mores were a cute touch and they have daily free-bees like morning yoga classes and complimentary glass of wine nights.
Pluses of this place- huge spacious rooms. Simple and nice. The property is nice with 2 pools and 1 hot tub plus firepits. When you arrive they give you a smore making kit. Man made lake on property was nice and available for paddle boarding, kayaking, boating. ( extra fee in addition to resort fee ). Decoy restaurant is very modern and has nice decor. I got chicken pesto sandwich- very healthy tasting but no flavor.Cons- At 9am clubbing music came on from speakers right outside our room which was poolside. No fun to be awaken 2 days in a row on vacation.
Told we have wifi, could not in that area we were by the lake/ marina. Beds were dreamy, comfortable and hard to leave.
Nice views also very nice bathrooms but can use a bit of room remodeling. Also loved the gesture of the smores kit for my kids. The gentleman in the front desk had great costumer service.
Clean, comfortable room. Gorgeous view of the lake.
While clean, this place was not the 4 or 5 star hotel it was boasted to be. The staff was friendly enough and did not treat us rudely. They had a good service team for the night that we stayed there. The room was clean, but the shower did not drain and it was hot even though we had the air down to 65. Also there were not a ton of amenities and the ones they had all closed too early. We did not get to use the pool or lake so I cant comment on that, but the room was just a standard room. The beds were extremely soft and short, but if thats not an issue for you, then you will like the sleeping accommodations. They did provide us a toothbrush free of charge, so that was great, but that was about all we experienced. Unless the motif is shabby chic, the bathroom was old and worn out, with paint stripped on the door and the sink siding, that could be updated . In my opinion, the overall the quality of the room is not worth the price of staying there.
Great for kids they have beautiful black and white swans on the Lake and they have a gondola ride makes you feel like you are in Venice kids liked it a lot not crowded as you would thinkEverybody is very friendly they also have a very nice golf course its worth checking out its a little bit pricey but all-in-all very nice
Stopped by the pools bar and had an amazing personal concoction made by John!
This resort is truly a gem. Starting with the front desk staff, everyone working here was on top of things. The resort has two pools, two hot tubs, several fire pits, free kayaks, paddle boards and boats to rent. The list of things to do here goes on and on.Our room overlooked the pool and beyond that the lake. There are some rooms that face the parking lot and those rooms will save you some money and still giver you access to al the great activities. We were in town for a wedding and in addition to my wife and I, two of my cousins and their spouses also stayed at the Lakehouse Resort. There were several different places at the resort where we could get together and hang out. One night after dinner we sat by the firepit and made smores (the hotel gives you a complimentary kit!). The rooms were also updated, very clean and well maintained.
Amazing place to stay! Very courteous staff! Will definitely stay again!
Our favorite getaway spot!!
A resort experience where you wouldnt expect one. Nice Staff, Quiet, Clean; real complimentary breakfast and morning kayaking. Beautiful Grounds. Spacious rooms with patios and lake access...A hidden gem of a spot..
Staff is amazing. Sooo helpful. Laser show on the lake itself is pretty cool. We were there for a corporate meeting but saw families renting boats, kayaks. Would definitely recommend.
Beautiful chick hotel with a lot of neat amenities. We took advantage of the free hour rental of the kayak and explored the opposite side of the lake.
Great room overlooking the lake, good floor plan with lots of room. Patio area with auto fire pit was a nice touch. We did have an issue with the TV and it was taken care of in an efficient manner.Very friendly staff with good service throughout the stay. Will definitely stay here again in the future.
Good breakfest
Very relaxing place, great for a staycation.
Expensive but its a great place to take the family
It was good. Could be better. They need to work on the state of their carpets as well as the furniture in their pool areas. Left a lot to be desired for the price. However, their staff is very nice and helpful.
Wonderful amenities and service. The grounds are well maintained. Downsides are the memory foam mattress for me and the bathroom lighting. I would return
My father in law was traveling to San Marcos to deal with moving out of a home that is uninhabitable because of mold due to construction defects. He had to go last minute and asked that I help secure a room nearby. The Lakehouse was the closest hotel to San Elijo so we reached out to book. Not only did the staff at The Lakehouse go above and beyond but they took complete ownership of making my father in laws stay so peaceful and relaxing that it completely distracted him from the turmoil he was in town for.
One of the best vacation spots weve ever stayed at. Really, really nice and clean rooms. Service and amenities are wonderful. I only wish the pillows were firmer and that they could keep both hot tubs working.
Amazing hotel with very friendly and accommodating staff. Family-friendly hotel and service. Beautiful views of the lake from the clean rooms. Highly recommend!!!
Stayed here for 2 nights and enjoyed our stay. We were given a smores kit as well once we checked in. The beds were comfortable, but bring your own pillow if you need a firm one!
This place is beautiful, but the service was awful. It took us over an hour and half to get seated even though there was a table available. Unfortunately, they took forever to clean it off and seat us. All of the heaters were on except the one next to us and it took forever again to have them turn it on. They forgot one of our plates and it wasnt until 20 minutes later that it came. And, I ordered my steak medium rare and it was fully cooked. I likely wont come back here unless Im just having a drink at the bar, which by the way, had great service.
Wonderful place - we had a great time! Excellent food!
Positive: Lake view, sound of nature, sound of the water spraying in the pool Negative: no Spa on site for being a resort.. 1 place to eat on site.. pool closed early for being a weekend..
Were supposed to stay for just 1 night but when we saw the place we fell in love with it and so we decided to extend for another night so we can explore the place. During our stay, we had a little door problem in our room and weve just blown away on how they handle and take care of us to fix the problem. SUPERB CUSTOMER SERVICE WE EVER HAD. Were planning to come back again for our 7 years anniversary soon. Keep up the good work Lakehouse Team!
Quaint and comfortable place, very clean
We held a meeting here over the weekend. We were treated very well and had the opportunity to enjoy some of their amenities. They have a small lake, which affords water activities, such as paddle boarding, paddle boats, and boat rides. They also have a couple of golf courses nearby. They have remodeled the hotel in 2012 and its quite nice. My room was in the oldest part of the property and was nice, but the bathroom was quite cramped, otherwise it was nice.
It was a nice stay and clean the staff were friendly
Stayed here for my wedding. Great staff. Cool property
Great for a mini getaway. Comfortable beds. Our room was clean but wasnt as clean as previous stays at the resort.
Had a great time, will go again
Very cool spot with great views and incredible restaurant. Prices can’t be beat for what value you get in return!! A true North County staple.
Lots of birds beautiful scenery. Reasonable prices.
Loved the beds. Beautiful views and great service
The St. Marks course was very wet. Tough to play but staff were great. Did a play and stay and decided to play executive course. Had a great day thereStaff at hotel and executive course were also excellent. Great customer service especially Mike at executive course.rating only reflects the regulation 18 hole course due to conditions. We will come back next year when the course is dry.
I loved the doing morning Kayak on the lake each day. One hour rental was included in the resort fee. I will stay there in the future.
