The Wittliff Collection at the Texas State Library is a must to see. Available to see include the Lonesome Dove Collection of movie artifacts, original set drawings creation the movie, history of area where the story took place. Interesting.Includes Texas History Music Collection. Willie Nelson, Jerry Jeff Walker, and more.Southwestern and Mexican Photography. Keith Carter was featured Exhibit. Awesome view of the human spirit through photography.

Great collection of photos and film memorabilia. Only issue i had was that on alot of the photos in the through her lens exhibit had very little or no description beyond the photographer and the date photo was taken.

Seeing the lonesome dove exhibit was literally a dream come true for me. It was well worth the drive… Put together well and the staff was very friendly. I will definitely go back.

The Wittliff is an amazing treasure trove of history from Texas and the Southwest! They have a permanent Lonesome Dove collection as well as writing, photography and music exhibitions! They even have some cool Willie Nelson and Jerry Jeff Walker items!

Fantastic collection. Lonesome Dove exhibit is wonderful. Small collection allows an intimate view of props, costumes, photos and memorabilia. The photos and Texas music make a wonderful cool setting. Find a parking space and walk on in. And check out the Lego table on the ground floor.

Floors look Great. The old Saltillo tile. And all the pictures hanging. Brings back memories.

Good, free entertainment for those days where theres nothing else to do. Good for projects that require visual aids or are based on art.

Nice place, very informative. Love the various showcases from Texas music artists and authors. Only downside, no parking anywhere because its on campus top level of the library. Still worth your while for a unique day trip.

Absolutely worth visiting. Best little art gallery with amazing pieces of southwest history too.

Up on the 7th floor of the Alkek Library, this is a great spot to reflect and view works on display from their research archives, as well as the occasional loan. They have some pretty incredible stuff. Its nice and quiet up there.
