Very nice Indoor Pistol range. Plenty of parking. Reasonable fee, and decent prices on target ammo. Brought my own Pistol, but have iron there to rent. Have targets and ear protection too, if needed.

Friendly and helpful staff. Very accessible for beginners. Prices are very competitive and a lot of parking spaces! Definitely recommend to everybody

When walking into a gun shop I don’t expect great customer service, what I do expect is honesty. Being given an answer which was a lie and then watching an employee backtrack and unveil a lack of knowledge when asked further and a complete disinterest in my business was disappointing. If you are military I’d advise taking your business somewhere else.

Purchased a firearm here and it was a lovely experience. Everyone was helpful and I really appreciated how an employee named Rachel made sure to properly clean and sanitize and uphold necessary precautions. As I am currently undergoing infusions for cancer care, I really appreciated her showing that concern. Thank you Range Master!!

This is a great place to purchase a firearm. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and not pushy. If they are busy with another customer they may or may not acknowledge you because they are paying attention to the customer they are dealing with ( I like that type of one on one service)

The selection of handguns was very minimal and they were significantly more expensive compared to other stores. We had to be put on a waiting list to get inside yet other gun stores dont have similar practices. There were signs up stating we were required to wear face masks yet the guy behind the counter did not wear one.

Very professional staff and excellant range

I went to Range Master to take the Firearm Safety Certification test this last Saturday afternoon. The place was busy and they were a little short-staffed. But they took care of me, and I never felt like I was being ignored. The staff was extremely helpful and very willing to go above and beyond to answer any questions I had. And its by far the best gun store Ive ever been in. There are a number of gun stores in my area, but I will be driving the 30 miles to Range Master for my next gun/gear purchase very soon.

I read through some of the negative reviews on here and it seems like the common thread is that if you act like an idiot, youll get treated like an idiot. I have been coming here off and on for over a decade and have always had a good experience. The staff is always eager to help and show you guns, and talk about guns and gun laws. The range is always clean and organized and is a fair price. There is usually a good selection of used guns for sale as well as a large selection of new pistols. We are lucky to have something like this in SLO county.

Im very far to the political left, and didnt hide it by wearing my Democratic Socialists of America shirt to this place. But, my buddy and I are both interested in improving our knowledge of firearms - he grew up on property farther out in the county and shot plenty of guns as a kid, so for his birthday, I decided to treat him to a day at the range....and we had a great time! Rented an AR-15 and a 9mm handgun with ammo to match, were provided eye/ear protection, and had a wide selection of targets to choose from. The folks behind the counter were very down-to-earth and friendly, just local folks with a wide knowledge of firearms. If we had questions, they answered them, and otherwise left us alone to utilize the excellent indoor range out back. Met another young guy who recently purchased his first firearm, and it was very easy to chat, try out each others weapons, and have a good time complimenting our shots.Since this is just down the street from me, Ill be very happy to return. Great shop and excellent range. John, the owner is extremely knowledgeable and helpful no matter what the issue or question. If you are looking for a class of any type, Ken Zachary is the man. His method of teaching is the best I have ever had. He teaches far more tactical shooting as opposed to standing at the bench and punching holes in paper. I would highly recommend anyone who wants to really learn to move and shoot, seek out Ken (thanks Ken for a great class).Support our local Gun Shop/Range, Shoot, Buy and Train.

Always a good experience!

This place is good. We came in to shoot my 1911 and my father wanted to try out a few pistols before purchasing. Although my dad is experienced with rifles, hes never owned a handgun. One of the employees (the taller, burlier dude) sensed my dad could use some help. He explained how to use the gun in a very non-condescending, friendly and informative way. We both appreciated his help. The prices on handguns were priced fair as well, although we did not purchase one.

Its always nice to look at what they have.

Came here on a rainy holiday to let my Belgian girlfriend have a chance to a shoot a pistol while in America. The staff and rangemaster were very helpful in recommending an easy starter pistol for us. The rangemaster took us to our lane inside the range, and showed how to safely operate the gun and explained the etiquette and rules of the indoor range. He answered all of our questions and watched and advised us as needed. After we both cycled through a couple 5 round magazines, and demonstrated proper technique, he allowed us to work in our lane unsupervised. Id recommend any beginner or person interested in trying out a firearm to come here. Very professional. You will have pass a multiple choice test to demonstrate basic firearm knowledge.

We had a couple of hours to kill before a wedding and stopped by for some quick shooting. The staff was professional, friendly, and very easy going. They really made us feel comfortable, and offered instruction when needed, without making us feel beneath them for not knowing everything. We had a really fun time and I would recommend this place to anybody looking for a good shooting experience. Very reasonably priced too!

Walked in (no appointment needed) to take my FSC for the first time. Guys at the front desk were very helpful and handled everything quickly and efficiently. All my questions on prospective handgun purchases were answered and I was given a brochure for weapon-specific training that they do. Overall a great experience. I will be coming back soon to test out handguns and take the course.

Fine place, and great indoor range. Two things though. First, I dont go there a lot to shoot, and havent been in months because they close so early. Second, ammo prices are really high, but to be fair, Central Coast ammo prices are high everywhere. When I relatives in SoCal, I just stock up there instead.

They have fabulous deals on tactical gear and that gives you confidence when leaving the central coast there is the understaffed feeling and atmosphere, but thats not the issue.I havent checked out their range but its said to be good and some what regulated which is great & staff is there at hand to answer questions!

Mr. Aaron wasnt very professionall. He had told me I wouldnt be able to bring in a bottle of water into the range nor was i able to record any videos or take any pictures of myself. The range is perfect, but The Rang master has to do a better job on applying rules on paper. I did not see anywhere were it said I couldnt record or bring In any kind of beverage in the gun range. Im very disappointed with there service. Just to make it clear no I didnt get kicked out I stayed the whole hour and payd. Idk where you got your information at but I think you better off figuring what really happen befor making yourself look dumb. I have the recipe for the day.

I went in today in the afternoon to get my FSC and to check out some guns. A lady helped me along with another guy. I didnt catch there names. Very knowledgeable and friendly. Discrimination isnt always straight up. But the guy behind the counter at range master showed it today. I became a Police Officer because my parents worked hard so I had opportunities they didnt have at my age. I brought them in today so they can shoot for the first time. I let him know they were not going to fully understand the test because they had never seen that kind of verbiage and because they cant read English that well. He didnt care and told them they wouldnt be able to shoot. I asked if I could explain each question to them he denied that. They have forever lost my business and I will be letting my fellow officers know of this experience.

Granted I am a first time buyer, but they can and should show some patience and treat me friendly.Well, they decided not to.Luckily the guy at four seasons just down the street decided to treat me with respect, so four seasons got the $1000 purchase instead of these guys.There might be some friendly staff in range master, but I wasnt lucky enough.

Years ago when Range Master was in the first location, this place seemed a lot more friendly. I had not been in there since 2002 when I purchased two handguns there and frequented the range. I recently visited the new location to purchase ammo, and behind the counter was the biggest a$$ hole in the world. After being treated like crap for two minutes I walked out without buying anything and promised myself I would never go back. Business must be so good that they can afford to treat customers like that. They wont see a dime of mine though.

Customer service I give them a one. I called the day before asking what was needed to use the range the following day. They did not tell me that the range was going to be closed that day. A buddy of mine took time off came from out of town just to be told something I should have been told the day before. No sorry nothing the two guys just stood there as always nothing but attitude, like we did not either. I am sure when you have your range maintenance you know when that is going to happen. Ever time I go in I see less and less stuff maybe it will close and we can get a gun store that is better and has less attitude.

Customer service could not have been better. I swear, I hogged Johns attention for at least 45 minutes regarding 1911s, and he never once showed a hint of impatience. Even more impressive, after the paperwork started for the transfer of one model...I changed my mind and asked for another one. John didnt even blink. Great selection, great environment, great staff and competitive pricing (not the cheapest, but hey, you pay a premium for service and location). What more could you ask for?

CCW renewal class instructor TOTAL idiot. Where did they find this Guy? Rude, Napoleon syndrome, thinks he is running a boot camp and not a customer service driven business. We have choices on where we go and I sure as hell would never go there for ANYTHING again. Nor would I recommend it to any of my family or friends. As a Local SLO resident they will not get a penny from me. I completely understand the other bad reviews on here.

Been shooting most of my life. Dad was a marine and taught me well. So with that said, this was not a very comfortable experience. No help at all. The ridiculous target holder took me several minutes to figure out. I then was told after about 60 rounds later I had it wrong and needed to move it down a whole 6in ... Thanks for showing me in the beginning how the homemade thing worked... The guys that work there have this subtle rude attitude that I thought was interesting in itself... For the cost of $20 for 1 hr of shooting I think a complete walk through and some basics of the range would be nice. I probably wont be back for some time. Rather drive the extra 10min to the outdoor range for $10..

I havent yet purchased a pistol from them but i have been there numerous times and they have been VERY friendly and informative. I was helped by a guy names Vic or Vincent?? Anyway he was very nice and allowed me to test the pistol i am interested. They have my business for sure.

I had an excellent time going in and using the indoor shooting range at Range Master. They had, frankly unexpected customer service from the front door to the back counter. While poking around looking at the products they have inside(a very very nice facility) the women that was busy stitching together uniforms even took the time to ask how I was doing. Just about every time ive been in a gun shop, the first visit is typically followed with way cooler than you attitude until I go out of my way to prove worthy of a conversation via gun knowledge. I am happy to report that thats not the case at Range Master. Great place, great facility and even nicer people. Honestly.

SIf I could give ZERO STARS, I would in a heart beat. This is by far the most unprofessional establishment Ive ever set foot in. First off, they dont accept trade ins, second they are so unwelcoming and un-knowledgable to where you feel completely alienated and unwanted. Their prices are way too high and dont have anything budget minded. Im a National Guardsmen and when I went to pick up my firearm the overweight poorly facial haired clerk said in quote, I dont feel safe selling you this firearm. So they didnt sell me the guy I had already purchased, and theres a 20% re-stocking fee, I lose the money for the registration and they didnt even refund me my money!! they said Id have to wait a few days for a check!! Most ridiculous encounter Ive endured here in SLO. DO NOT SUPPORT THIS BUSINESS!!!
