Teatro Tapia

A charming theater,originally built in 1824, it is the largest of its type in Puerto Rico. It can seat over 640 and has been restored to its original brilliance.It is named after Alejandro Tapia y Rivera who was a 19th century Puerto Rican poet.It reputedly has great acoustics in a horse shoe arrangement of seating.The architecture is Neo Classical. This building used to be the cultural center of San Juan.

Was visiting friends in the plaza in front of the theater. Very nice art exhibition and pleasant time! Enjoy!!!

This is the oldest permanent theatre in Puerto Rico. It is beautiful and stunning. The main floor seats are comfortable the balcony seats not so much. Great view from anywhere. You will be looking a couple of times at the elegant chandelier.

Beautiful theater!!!! No food or drink allowed so eat something before you go in.

Love it!! The concert of The big band of Humberto Ramirez was great! Giovanni Hidalgo played the congas excellent!! After the concert, dinning at Old San Juan was lovely.

It is one of the few historic beautiful places left in Puerto Rico. I went to see Los Hispanos concert. We enjoyed 2 full hours of good quality music. Comfortable. Parking available within walking distance of the teather. Reasonable prices at the parking and the show itself. Secure atmosphere. Friendly staff.

A wonderful Teatro filled with History. I was there for the Puerto Rican premiere of Raul Julia- The World is A Stage. Fantastic film about the Man and the Actor.

Such a beautiful place! Carpeted floors and dark wood everywhere. On the hallways, exhibitions of props, costumes, prints of important plays.

Teatro Tapia is one of the oldest theaters in Puerto Rico and the Americas. Its an historical building located in Old San Juan, Puerto Rico. Since 1839, and still in operation, its an important stage for musical shows, theater plays, concerts and more. A must see.

Attended the Elizabeth Warren talk. She is phenomenal. The theater is beautiful.
