Great employees, very friendly, knowledgeable, and informative, and tons of resources for members to use in pursuit of their art. Good variety of clays sold here (~$30, includes firing fee... all cone 10) and glazes available for use (including raku glazes). They have a beautiful wall showing all the glaze overlap combinations that is very well organized and executed. Coffee/tea area with a fridge for members to use as they please. Restroom available as well. Lots of wheels for throwing and table space for hand building. They have waxes and other products like shellac available to members. Raku firing is available on request. Lockers are also available with a fee. Membership is a very reasonable price for everything they provide.

We had our team outing at clay by the bay.. Connor is an amazing artist and he taught us the basics of shaping clay on the wheel.. overall it was a fun experience.. it was so much fun, that I look forward to taking my husband here for a date!

Great instructors, so patient and friendly. They really want you to learn the right way, and its so much fun getting dirty!! Yay! Parking can get a bit scarce but other than that, its a great studio, and its so down to earth. You can make a day of it and even go to SOFA ( which is across the street) to get food or even visit an art gallery.

My experience here was my first time doing pottery. We made a bowl and a mug. The staff was very friendly and helpful in teaching us how to make the bowl. They gave us a straightforward series of steps to follow. We all say together so we could also help each other out. I think everyone was able to make a nice bowl. We also got to make a mug afterwards which was a nice add on.

Great team building event. Fun, not too hard, a good learning experience, and even if you do happen to mess up the clay (none of us did, but its possible) then the instructors will save the day.

Great studio. Dan the owner is a great guy. Classes are informative and well priced. If you are looking for an unforgettable first date they offer a 222 which is 2 people, 2 projects, 2 hours. The facility is well kept with great community. Higher fire participates in first Fridays of downtown San Jose. There are many firing options available, oxidation, reduction, raku, the occasional soda fire and connection to a wood fire kiln.

The place runs classes and team building sessions. The instructor at our team building event showed every step of the process and taught us how to do a bowl and a mug. Very supportive and hospitable staff: plate with cookies, a bowl of apples and bottles of water were expecting us, also name tags, aprons and two setups for each participant. The clay of my project got tired and the wall disattached from the base - the instructor quickly came to replace it and brought it up to the state it was before the accident, advising me not to touch it anymore and to choose a glaze. However, this was not my project, but someone elses cookie cutter shaped clay, something to take home, yes, but not personalized. The place offers items for sale and the projects take 3 weeks to bake.

Our team took a pottery class as a team offsite, and we had a great experience. The teacher Thomas was knowledgeable and patient, and I was very pleased with the end results, so much so that I plan to go back to take their 6 week long class.

Excellent environment for creating ceramics of all kinds. A membership is fairly vital for sustained work, but they offer classes in 6 week chunks so you can get your fix without the long term commitment.Bisque and Reduction firings weekly, oxidation monthly.
