Fun atmosphere and great on food truck night! The scorpion bowls are the ones to try. A must for Great American Music Hall lovers.
Ive seem amazing shows here with my family. A lot of fantastic productions.
We all came together on this night to honor, remember, and say goodbye to an amazing man. Freddie Herrera AKA Keystone Freddie. The venue was beautiful the staff was kind and attentive. I was in awe of the amazing details and the ornate carvings. Everything was beautiful fit for the King and Queen Sandi and Freddie are and will always be. We were are there where the music was that where I will always look for you
So much history, love this place. Its been around since the early 1900s and has hosted countless gigs of legendary musicians, burlesque dancing, jazz music, folk and rock and etc. The gig sounded great, the venue staff were all so friendly. We were harassed by the local crackheads outside the venue too, everything we expected, simply beautiful.
Since 2010 the wife and I have attended the Hipsmas (The Mother Hips) Holiday show at Great American Music Hall. Its a beautiful historic building and a great music venue. Great sound, great lighting and a nice full bar to keep your whistle wet. Go see a show there. Youll definitely enjoy it. We will for sure be back!
What a gorgeous venue! Absolutely beautiful decoration and detailing. Everyone on the staff is so much friendlier than at other music venues Ive been to. The space wasnt too crowded, although my feet were sticking to the floor where I was standing. I felt very secure at this venue as well.
Still one of the best Venues Bigger N Smaller Bands love to play. Its big Enough to pack the House, But the Stage N how everything is set up, It still allows a much more intimate performance, Punk Bands playing...(I.E. microphones in face of crowd, audience singing along)pit swirling Behind..
Visited on a Thursday night with my wife to see Rhett Miller. Tickets were purchased in advance - tickets on phone - so getting through the line was a breeze. The facade of the building does not do the interior justice...this space is beautiful. Given the location, deep in the strip club section of the SF Tenderloin neighborhood, I have not made it to this venue recently but am happy to see that it is attracting large crowds of people out on a Thursday night. The line at the bar was a breeze and space is still great to catch live music.
Quite small and intimate. There’s the AMC parking garage less and half a mile away and if you get your parking ticket validated @ the venue then it’s 50% off to park. The wait staff is very attentive and there’s plenty of seating on the first floor even though I didn’t buy any food or drink at the venue. Bathrooms upstairs are kept clean and the architecture is impressive. Will definitely be coming back.
This is the best venue in the country! A beautiful, intimate setting to see your favorite bands to give and receive energy. Pigeons Playing Pingpong brought the house down! We love you Pigeons!
A more intimate setting than say The Warfield/Fillmore West. Overall cool venue to see a show & to play a show...
Good sound, intimate concert hall. Staff were all pretty chill as well. Wish there were more bathrooms. But if thats the only drawback its pretty good place
Beautiful venue and excellent sound system. The shows here are pretty intimate in that you are never far from the performers. If you are stage side you are within touching distance of the artists. Great vibe.
Decent venue but far from the best. The placement of the bar upstairs is strange and inefficient as people can barely walk around the line. Downstairs is better but gets to crowded during a show. Decent place overall but if I had to pick there are plenty of other places I would choose before that specific venue.
Great place to see a show!! Excellent staff as well!!
One of my favorite venues in the city. Nice vibe. Easy and sounds good.
Came here for Destiny Rogers & Ruel.... 1st time here... Great venue... Great history (guess it used to be a brothel? Lol) sound was good, good bartenders!
This is my favorite music venue hands down! The floor level boasts open area to dance and get up close and the second level, opera style, is the best view with area to have a private moment. Get this, besides full bars on both floors, you can order great food! I mean this has everything and if I could choose I would want all my favorite bands to play there! You’ve got to try it!
Great old San Francisco venue. Wild to think how long this place has been here and how many great shows it’s seen. The associated photos are from a (Sandy) Alex G show.
Cool classic venue in the tenderloin. Limited seating around the edges and in the balcony.
If you are looking for a fun slash chill slash energizing night this is the spot! Lots of awesome acts come here and the music hall is one of the most beautiful Ive ever seen. They also serve food! If you purchase the dinner you can watch the show from above which is always fun. Its even better to be part of the crowd on the ground and get super close to the action.
Not the best sound system but not the worst either. The staff is always been friendly and they have a decent beer selection
Wonderful old music hall with good sound and gorgeous decor. Cant believe it took me 24 years to go there.
Just seen Half•Alive and Sure Sure here and it was incredible. Sometimes concerts can sound drowned out and you cant even hear the band, but this place was amazing. This place is beautiful and clean and the staff was top notch.
Saw my first show here and I loved it. It was an acoustic tour of a band that does not usually play acoustic concerts so there were a lot of unknowns going into it. Everything worked out great, the venue is beautiful, a little smaller than the Regency, but perfect for an acoustic show.
This place looks A LOT bigger from the outside!
Nice little venue. Get here early for good seats
Beautiful venue with great sound. Not cheap, but where in San Francisco is? Love the intimacy. And theres food!
I got to see Set It Off, my favorite band, live and it was a dream come true!!
Saw Joshua Radin, Ben Kweller, William Fitzsimmons and Jamie Drake here on Monday, Feb 24. Sit down show and an intimate unplugged vibe. Gorgeous interior decor and fine handcrafted detail... Seen a few other shows here as well, including post-rock outfit Caspian. A couple of acoustic resonance issues, but a really great venue overall.
Nice venue Sven & M..awesome to see. Bathrooms were inadequate and upstairs was unavailable despite they were sold as balcony.. Very weird. food was alright at best. Carb central. Steak was good.
Wonderful staff, interesting architectural design.
Nice venue; 2 levels and some seating, but the majority is the main floor. Very pretty inside. Earplugs are typically available at the front desk on your way inside, and there is a coat/bag check as well as a bar upstairs.
Theres just something really special about this old, intimate space for concerts. The ornate walls are dripping with character, and the views and vantage points are great, whether youre on the floor or in the balcony upstairs. Standing in this grand old room, one can totally understand how the vibe inspired the brilliance of the Grateful Deads One From the Vault.
Decent venue around the area. Clean and was well-maintained. Not that really crowded too. The visit was totally worth it.
A beautiful venue that showcases handcrafted, intricate wood work on the ceiling. The sound system is also incredible. Ive been to this venue under very different circumstances, including a wedding and no matter what it is, your ears will love it. Staff is nice and usually wanting to help you, it also depends on the type of event.
What a great place to see a show in SF. some shows have a dinner option on the balcony, the food is good and not ridiculously over priced.
It was great! Is one best places to see bands perform; great sound and a beautiful Victorian era ornate building. My and I had tickets that included dinner before the show, and the food great to boot!
Stunning! The whole Hall is breathe taking. The lights, architecture, and the acoustics. Easy to get drinks. Any spot is a good spot. The stage is easy to see from any angel. Staff is friendly and helpful.
Awesome place. Sat upstairs and had a sundae while I watched Don Broco kill it on stage. Definitely like the intimacy of the place. Staff was great
Great sized venue, everywhere is a good spot while still being an intimate show. Great sound, and super pretty inside!
This is a beautiful, intimate venue. Food and drink options are great (though pricey), theres room to sit or stand, and the show I went to was a blast.
We saw Keifer Sutherland perform, who was great, but good bands that Ive heard of are few and far between these days. It is walking distance from home, and if they had more Comedians (like they used to, like Richard Lewis, who we saw), and brought back great bands like The Tubes (who I saw there more than once), then Id go more often. Also, the neighborhood is very sketchy these days, and waiting outside to go in may be troubling. Its time for them to beef up security, and for our police to drive around more. Bring back good bands!
One of my favorite venues in SF!
Went to see a show with my sister, a band she liked. The sound and atmosphere was good. Staff sucked, bartender upstairs was rude/diva. Waiter was just talking to all the girls as if he was working there to serve just the girls. Once we went down stairs you felt a better energy. Nice place to have an intimate venue.
Loved the venue. Dinner was a fair price for the city. Food wasnt exceptional but it did the trick and we got this wicked-cool view of Sacramento based 10 piece funk band Ideateam.-full disclosure the stud on the bass is my baby bro
Great sound system and service. Decent drinks and food. All made for a great night.
Easily one of the best old school venues left in the city. Bern here many times for a variety of shows. Never disappoints
Great spot tucked in the TL. Seen a couple shows here and never had a bad time.
Gorgeous venue with an amazingly interesting history. And of course meatloaf presents BAT was an added treat!
The venue is packed with so much rich history, of course it deserves a five star. But this 5 star is for the sound crew, I forgot my buds and still had a pleasant listening experience for all of Jay Som. It was cathedral-like noise, just right.
Great performance and music of JB Presents. Singers and dancers put on an excellent show. It was hard to get table service, but was eventually able to order food and beverage. Limited menu of sandwiches with fries including some vegetarian options. Food quality was acceptable but you are really there for the show.
Nice venue to see live music. Nice dance floor. The food is mediocre.
Ive been coming here for 47 years, as long as Ive lived in San Francisco. We even briefly considered having our wedding here but it was more than we could afford. Ive seen some great shows here, from Ry Cooder to Princess, Maya Rudolphs Prince cover band. Small venues are so much better for live music than a stadium, and GAMH delivers.
A beautiful venue that really vibrates with its musical history
The GAMH is such a neat theatre. I loved the historic interior and the balcony view, only complaint is there was no standing allowed in the balcony.
A fabulous intimate venue with the ghosts of all the former artists who have lent their spirit to allow a memorable experience while being in the hands of a comforting staff. We were here for Leonoid and Friends, a group from the Ukraine that offers an incredible performance of songs from the Chicago songbook with all professional nuances of the band itself. In fact, Chicago even recruited a Peter Cetera sound alike for Leonoid and Friends.Dinner came with the show and was handled in admirable fashion, as well as the drinks from the bar. We loved this place and I cant wait to see another show here. It is just so beautiful inside and is filled with so much history. The amenities are not lacking either, completely up to date.
Cool spot food was pretty good aside from my husband finding paper in his vegetables. Oliver tree was awesome. Architecture of building is amazing. Seats upstairs and dinner were so awesome. Would recommend.
Great club to see shows . Beautiful Victorian style interior with lodge type balconies upstairs. Open floor on main floor. Expect to stand during shows as seating is super limited and only upstairs.
Lovely accommodating staff. Lots of laundromats around if youre on tour and need a clothes wash. No shower. Good access to stage.
One of the best venues in California. I saw Sleep play three New Years Dates and it was an amazing experience. The staff is intelligent and helpful. The acoustics are good. The food is amazing. The venue itself is beautiful. There are many great places to watch the bands (upstairs and to the sides and ga). Again, the staff is wonderful.
Very nice place our punk rock show was very good
Great venue for intimate music performances!
Great venue to see up and coming talent. Lots of seating. Full menu. Great beer selection on tap.
Up there with the Fillmore, this place is one of my favorite venues. Theres old red velvet and gaudily ornate plaster trim, with a waist high stage and a small standing room dance floor, which gives a majestic yet intimate vibe to a place where you can feel the weight of rock and roll history, in all its leather panted and battered guitar string snapping glory. Impressively good food, with downstairs and upstairs bars, beers on tap, and tables both on and under the side balconies. You can wander up and look down over the spectacle, or sidle your way down out into the middle of it, and possibly even trade a fistbump with your favorite artist. I love the GAMH. And street parking within a few blocks is even pretty decent on weeknights.
Had an amazing night here with my date. The live music made the experience so much more entertaining.
Great intimate venue with good temperature, sound, and view of the stage from most of the room.
Trust me go to chutney for a better food and you only pay half of what you are paying in this .
Great venue, parking across the street
Cool venue to come see a show. Sat in the balcony and had the perfect view for the night.
Best venue I’ve been to—very intimate, not a bad seat in the place. Also good drinks for reasonable prices.
Beautiful venue. Great acoustics. Wonderful sound. No complaints.
Very nice place, very intimate
Really beautiful venue. Intimate setting to watch a band
One of the best venues on the West Coast for live music!
509 folks. Great stage. Sound !
Cozy feel!! Music sounded amazing inside!! Drinks are reasonably priced.
Went to see lion babe here with a friend! when my friend was overheated and dehydrated from being in the crowd, the staff was easygoing, kind, and accommodating; they brought her outdoors and provided her with a seat and cold water immediately. lovely and intimate venue, great crowd, and amazing staff!
Went to watch a concert and got a dinner reservation. It was an awesome experience and even came with great food choices. The atmosphere was unbelievable, everyone was very excited and into it. Definitely one of the best enclosed places where concerts are held.
I was a paperboy in the area at 16, back to the old neighborhood after many decades. The venue is great, but too many street people around at night.
Probably my favorite live music venue in SF. Its a beautiful physical space, the sound is solid without blowing your ear drums, and its the perfect size so theres no bad angles or bad places to stand. Also, the bar is in the back which is convenient for refills. Just beware: if they close off upstairs to GA, the bathroom line downstairs can get crazy.
I thought it was a really nice venue. Drink were good and the staff was pretty cool. Overall very good experience.
Absolutely amazing venue and experience! Got to see Whitey Morgan up and close
Really like this venue for small concerts. Its nice and intimate. Though seating is limited, there are no bad seats. You can also enjoy cocktails, craft beer and dinner. All-in-all, I had a good experience and look forward to returning.
Beautiful historic venue, but please hire some more help. If you try to eat during an event, its like pulling teeth getting someone to serve you. Same for the drink service. Dont they realize they could sell more with better service?
Great music venue that’s not super intimate, but nearly as overwhelming as some of the other music spots in the city. This is typically the venue artists transition to before heading to the Bill Graham’s or Warfields, so the lineups are always strong. Also, for the architecture fans, the interior designs are pretty dope.
Venue is great. Service is not good. They are herding cats and they know it but no eye contact, very short, having their own side conversations, giving the bare minimum. Im sure theyd step up if needed but Ive gotten better service in pretty any random bar. Lack of coat check a concert: unforgivable. What sort of Mickey Mouse production is this?
One of San Franciscos more historic music venues first time I attended a concert here I had the pleasure of catching Will Downing definitely one of San Franciscos more historic music venues stop by and check it out enjoy the history and the acoustics
Its a very cool older building.
