I love this shop! You can get some great finds here. I left with a couple of pair of earrings and a camera! I was surprised to see that they have vintage cameras. The clerk told me that they have a camera guy that comes about once a month with new cameras. I now know where to go to add cameras to my collection :)
Unique collection of beautifully crafted machines. Check out the Moto MMXX exhibition!
What better to commemorate my 100th review than to review this awesomeness. What a way to see CA! it was like seeing DTLA in a whole different way. I mean the buildings alone are super cool but to fill them with local art just made it so much more interesting.
This is a somewhat small art museum. The items they have on display are somewhat quirky in a good way. Your are challenged to stretch a little (not too much) to see/feel the artistic content. We enjoyed our visit. They have a particularly good museum store with quality items you wont see in most other places. The jewelry was particularly well done.
I can understand this museum may be a let down for out of town tourists due to its small exhibition, but it is really informative. Could use a bit more interactive design to engage visitors.
Decent museum with some interesting pieces. Its definitely a bit small for the price ($8), and the merch out front is violently over-priced. Its not a bad stop if youre bored, though.
Great museum, lived how cozy small and to the point it was. I saw the machines exhibit and it was very cool. They have a tinker lab which was cool, game of chess with nuts and bolts and othefmaterials. Only thing is there was a employee just watching us the whole time to see if we were touching the case, which was a bit awkward, but I really reccomend it
Small but interesting museum with a well curated main exhibit(was told they change about every 4 months). No permanent collection. Certainly worth a visit!
Its a great place to look at inspiring art. I really enjoy my time here every-time.
Cute little museum. Love dogpatch
The Tattoo exhibition was awesome even for a tattoo virgin like myself. Had I wanted to change that there was an in house tattoo artist there at the end of the exhibit. The Butterfly Enclosure was fantastic as well.I came damn close to getting a butterfly tattoo, but we ran out of time.
Excellent service. Debra rocks!
Tiny museum for the price, skip it. The exhibit right now on homelessness is interesting though.
Small museum but very high quality of fine art level handiwork. Admission is cheap ($8) and worth the cost. Third Thursday nights are craft night with projects to complete
So small and poorly curated. Not really much of a museum. I think the gift shop is bigger than the museum.
Some of the most unique and labor-intensive crafts Ive seen.
Linda Gass exhibit is wonderful
Cool exhibits, but a bit small
Great art in s wonderful space. A jewel in SF.
Loved the exhibition, though the place was smaller than we expected.
I was amazed by the exhibits. Its a small place but very worth visiting.
Interesting exhibits but small with a good gift shop .
Dead Nuts is a nice little exhibition.
Small but high quality work. Friendly staff
I love this little museum in Dogpatch. You can take the T line of the Muni Metro to close to their front door. They have a nice gift shop and this year they hosted Style 18, a wonderful wearable art event with around 40 vendors selling jewelry and wearable art. But also check out their current are exhibits!
A small, well curated art space that is always inspirational and surprising. I love every visit that I make here.
Tiny museum with a couple of beautifully curated exhibits.
Its a very unique place to visit. Lots of arts and crafts, videos throughout the museum explaining how wool are use in soo many ways. Arts and crafts hand on workshops. The employees were all nice and friendly. They welcome you in and smile. Thats what makes it a nice environment. No one following you around, you can sit, relax, watch the videos, and read the printouts of everything they have in there. I really enjoyed that MUSEUM.
Really cool little museum. Very little. The exhibit was really well done and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The only reason this isnt five stars is that it is SO tiny. By no means a waste of time. Visit when you have a free hour between other activities.
Under construction for now, but theyre still advertising their free museum days for whatever reason. You literally can only view the lobby and gift shop. Shammy.
Very cool space! Interesting exhibits and fun events.
Awesome .. highly recommend!
Small museum with interesting exhibits which rotate often and an eclectic gift store. The bathrooms are exquisite by SF standards.
Small, but nice experience. plenty of street parking. wouldnt bring kids. free first Tuesdays
This is a really cool museum. The exhibits were really fun and cool to look at. The staff was super welcoming and friendly. We also loved the way everything was set up and the overall feel to the museum itself. If you are in the area be sure to swing in and check it out.
The gift shop is great. The museum is less so. When we went, there was just a small exhibition on pavilions. Not extremely engrossing. Luckily we went on a free day- it would have been annoying to spend 8 bucks on the adult entrance ticket.
Really fantastic gift shop. However, given the $8 price tag, I expected a lot more content in the exhibits. I am a slow museum-goer (i.e., I take my time with exhibits and like to read the materials), but it took me only about 15 min to see the entire museum. The exhibits were interesting just very bare bones, so I left wanting more. If it were free, or more like $3, I would’ve been ok with it.
We came here for a special event and they were serving beer and wine- it was a lot of fun! The instructor was nice and knowledgeable. The gift shop had a lot of cute stuff including handmade post cards, trinkets, and jewelry.
I wished the museum had more stuff to show, considering how pricey and extensive the gift shop is. The exhibits were really nice though and the industrial neighborhood had a couple hipster cafes nearby that were nice to work in. Really nice staff in the museum, nice entrance and benches to sit and rest in front of the museum, when it is nice outside
If you love Craft, Design, Art & Museum then come and welcome The Museum of Craft and Design to the Dogpatch District! Im super excited they are here. Its a great place. They also have monthly events besides the exhibits. Its a great place to keep up with different artists and designers. The space is fantastic, too!
It was an exhibition of really fancy coffins that all held actual human remain in them.
Its not a museum: its a gallery. Eight bucks is too much. Three or four would be more appropriate.
I was expecting something bigger there are more to see in the gift shop than in the exhibition :(
Well I wouldnt call it a museum. Its mostly a design shop with a bit of space in the rear to exhibit. The ticket to this place is expensive since you finish seeing the museum in 5 mins. So avoid buying the tickets just visit the design shop.
Well, this was very inspiring actusact, I never seen something like this before. Thank you, guys fir nice collection in the museum.
Great museum!
Great exhibits. And there best gift shop.
The group of designs from Holland were amazing and endlessly fascinating. Well set up and easy to approach. More of this kind of show would be a very welcome addition to the list.
A must visit if you are interested in design. Their gift shop is full of interesting jewelry, books, and toys.
Nice but tiny
Unique small museum with a charming gift shop. It’s worth a visit.
Super small ... for the price of admission I thought there would be a bit more to it. I enjoyed what we saw, there just wasnt much. Lovely gift store.
Really neat and fun :) worth checking out, I do hope there will be more things soon :)
Have dropped in a few times when in the hood, and have purchased a couple of gifts. Its a pleasant place to browse. Contains a moderate mishmash of household and personal items, designed by small house designers, which I believe are mostly local to the bay area. Prices vary - some items are priced equal or better than their mass market equivalent and some are at designer prices. In particular I would recommend their collection of full size shopping bags that collapse into their own tiny zipped pouch, compare well in price to similiar products on Etsy, Amazon, MOMA, etc, and most importantly had unique TASTEFUL patterns and colors.I wouldnt call it a museum - more like if the MOMA store gave 30-50% of its space over to installations and displays. Though they also have various craft/arts events and programs.
Tiny museum, wasnt really interested in the veterans art exhibit. Price is great. Merch store is tiny. Worth checking out but dont get too excited.
Ingenious designs inspired me & gave me brain storms of ideas
Great little museum, has very interesting exhibits, often times at the forefront of technological applications in art, showing modern art not often seen elsewhere.
Friendly staff, cool store, really interesting exhibit about war veterans art and crafts, and the first Tuesday of the month it is free!
Small, but excellent exhibits, even for me, who has no experience in craft or design
The wool/felt exhibit was amazingly informative. This is what a museum should be.
Small but worth the visit, great chair exhibition
This small, pleasant museum recently re-located to the rapidly-growing Dogpatch neighborhood. The location is excellent, handy to chocolate, ice cream, cheese, and the Illinois Street bike lane. Coming from the Mission? Take the 22 Fillmore. Coming on CalTrain? Get off at the 22nd Street station.I was here last week for an extremely well-catered event. This place is big enough to accommodate your event and cozy enought everyone will feel at home
Very interesting museum of design and craft.
Inspiring and always changing.
A nice small museum worth visiting
Well curated and exciting
Nice facility friendly staff
Must see
Go here
Overpriced for the size of the exhibit and content
Great reception.
Not much to see, way smaller than i thought
Bad place
Good place to bring kids.
Insanely small.
Unfriendly staff with small but well done main exhibit
Very nice
Ok
