The view was absolutely breathe taking, even though there wasnt too much to view. But there was a rose garden and like a dry desert garden on the other side to the left with cactus and all. I just didnt go towards that side. But sitting on the benches available and enjoying the breeze along with the beautiful roses was a great experience. Very calm and peaceful. I would understand why a gentleman was sitting by the waterfall meditating.

In all my life, as a landscape architect, have I never seen such a rose garden as this! I would have to say it may rival the Rosegarden a Elizabeth Park in West Hartford.I like this this one a little better, due to the Spanish colonial inspired layout of the plaza and size of the garden beds. I really love the grown-in pergola, where the climbing plants have just absolutely flourished and created a natural jungle-like cave canopy. One should definitely come down here and take pictures for your quinciñera, baby gender reveals, graduation photos, or a cute date with a lover.

When all the roses are in bloom. BEAUTIFUL. I tease my mom about the beautiful flowers. When we are driving anyplace and she sees flowers and they could be dead on the side of the road. She always i mean always says, look at the beautiful flowers Ill usually mock her for a second shell say stop it stupid (this phrase came from my friend Adriana. She used to say it all the time. Then we will laugh and if I see some before her Ill look to her and in a high pitched voice Ill say; look at the beautiful flowers. Then Ill get a smack on the arm. This place is great to see in spring.

Just cross the pedestrian bridge just west of the Natural History Museum in Balboa Park for a beautiful collection of roses, pictured here in late September. Beside the rose garden, there is a desert garden—such a wonderful extra little stroll that is right beside Balboa Park.

We stumbled upon this place while just wondering the park. I really enjoyed the variety of roses and unique cacti that I dont see back home on the east coast. I thought the layout was nice, easy to see a variety of roses and cacti without excessive walking. I think this is worth checking out if you have time or arent ready to leave the park after all the museums have closed.

A must see. Beautiful rose gardens and walking trails along Park Ave, across the street from the science and natural history museum. The fragrance of the various roses fill the air. There are benches and seating areas to rest, read, and/or just relax. The museums are just across the street making the gardens a wonderful way to start ones day in the heart of San Diego.

The rose garden is beautifully designed and they have so many colorful amazing varieties of roses. The garden is a living memoir to the women of World War I who went to work while the men fought overseas (I.e., the Rosie the Riveter rose garden). The garden itself is overlooking scenic views of San Diegos distant brown mountains and is pleasant even in December. Its a medium-sized garden and leads straight into the nice cactus life of the rest of Balboa Park. Definitely worth the visit :)

Enjoy the peace and quiet here at the rose garden overlooking the canyon down below. The park is impossible to get a picture without a ton of people in the background but if you know where to look and think outside the box youll find little the perfect location to take some family, wedding or engagement photos. The roses arent always blooming as you can see in the photo Ive added but it is still really beautiful and the cactus garden is near by which is goregous all year around.

This is just across the bridge from Balboa Park where the Science and History museum is with the massive fountain.Theres plenty of parking in Balboa to get over hereQuite a few pokestops and gyms in this area. Perfect for raids and such. Also the area is really pretty, clean and very well kept. Youll often see people over here doing professional photoshoots because its really pretty and occasionally when there are a few clouds out, it makes it look like something straight out of a fairy tail.

We often take the kids here on our way out of Balboa Park. I am by no means a botanical expert but the kids love the long circular structures to run in and its back far enough from road that you dont have to be on top of them. Great spot to picnic lunch halfway through a long day if your tired of the statue garden.
