Probably one of the best Ys that Ive been in with so many features that its difficult to list them without missing something. All 3 of my kids have taken parts in different classes, activities and camps over the years and myself and my wife are regular visitors in the gym. Some of the features are; indoor pool, kids playground, soccer field, boys and girls gymnastics classes, spinning classes, weight room, aerobic exercise room and so on. The kids room was a blessing when the boys were little and the summer camps have saved us many times, even though they could be better organized.Gotta love the Y!

Great facility for all around well-being and a fun time for a reasonable cost. The San Diego YMCA group is a fantastic option for those of you like getting more from your gym than just machines and weights. Although, I am the type that just prefers the weights, my family loves to take advantage of the swimming pool, lessons, summer camp activities, and gymnasium. I love that you can use your membership at just about any YMCA throughout the state, and best of all, the cost is extremely reasonable for what you get.

I am editing my review. The YMCA was very quick to reach out to me and waive my joining fee. I have been a member on and off my entire life due to travel circumstances. I was unsatisfied that I had to pay the joining fee and felt unwanted, but they were so kind to reach out and offer me the chance to join without the fee. Thank you Jessica!

Nice place. Nice staff. But I guess I have to do more than pay my membership. I suppose Ill have to donate a million dollars and get my name on a plaque; in order to get a hot tub that actually works more than about 50% of the time.

I havent worked out here, but I took a tour when I was visiting San Diego for work. This place was really nice and has really nice facilities from a huge weight room to a large swimming pool with lanes to a large gymnasium where you can do more cross fit type workouts. They also have a large gym for kids to practice gymnastics. It also has a soccer field across the parking lot. Moreover, the staff is really friendly, accessible, and helpful. The building looks really cool from the outside too. The only problem is that it seems kind of expensive - about $600 - $700 per year.

Whats not to love about this Y? Its always clean, the staff is usually superz friendly and helpful, and they do everything in their power to help low-income people enjoy the facilities. I wish all the classes were free, as things Im interested in cost extra, so I am taking off a star for that. But, if you just want a place to swim or workout, this place is great. I recommend it highly.

Small enough to feel like a private club and large enough to have numerous classes, programs and equipment. Fantastic yoga classes with very knowledgeable instructors. Professional, caring, and cautious, they ensure an outstanding level of care for their students. Very mindful of our varying levels of fitness, conditioning, and medical issues.

Staff is nice. Great locker room, although shower water pressure is TERRIBLE. Parking sucks and the entire gym consistently is overrun by obnoxious, unsupervised, unruly children. I wish somebody would control them. Especially in the locker room. It is a major issue.People jog laps around the gym!!??? Why?? Listem Y staff, you need to step up your game on controlling things that happen on your property. It is YOUR PROPERTY.

Tiny parking lot. Constantly packed. Tiny gym with just bare essentials. This YMCA is the closest to my house and its such a bummer its so packed and small. We pay 80 dollars a month for a family of 4 plus 70 a month for my 5 year old daughter to do gymnastics once a week... insane. Plus to make things even more complicated and stressful our 7 year old has to be at the childcare outside the building and my 5 year old has to be at the childcare inside. Gonna try a different one before I cancel my family membership. Not worth the price.

A great YMCA. Bright and spacious place for family and working out. They do have a gymnastics gym there so there are quite a lot of family there hanging out. For those wanting to work out there. There is plentiful space in their wellness center. The stretching area is a little small. It is located in the hallway near the wellness center. And lastly the pool is heated and is indoors. Parking can be filled up during peak hours. For additional parking, it is located in the National University parking lot across the way from the athletic fields. The YMCA spots are marked.

Very clean gym, but very small. People are constantly having to move out of each others way and theres such a strong focus on group classes that the space that is available isnt used effectively. Childcare area staff are hit or miss with how nice they are or if they are even staffed accordingly, which is odd for people who are supposed to love kids. Playground outside is awesome and well put together, my son loves it there. There is a pool and hurting, but no sauna. Overall, great place, but need serious improvements concerning space and staff.

This is a very nice Y with nice people all around. Many activities for famlies with an awesome gymnastics area and program. There are many classes going on for adults. I am a swimmer and visit regularly in the early mornings for 3 to 4 thousand meters. The lifeguards are tremendous and we always have fun conversing with them at the hot tub after a long swim. I highly recommend this YMCA.

Love everything about this Y except the child care (hence the 3 stars). They dont change diapers or help kids use the potty, or out their clothes back on. If you are potty training good luck at this place. Ridiculous rules. The classes are great and the equipment is nice and new and staff members except child watch are friendly and helpful

My Daughter started taking her two year old to gymventures were she found a class full of other two year old climbers and adventurers just like ours. The instructor is very good and teaches them all kinds of new things to do. It was most enjoyable to see all the other mothers running after their rambunctious two years olds just like we do. Its a great starter class for children who love to climb and jump on everything in a safe soft environment I cant wait to see a decrease in all the bruises our little always seems to be acquiring as she bounces her way through life.

My 5-year-old and I go for the pool. Why? There arent a ton of indoor pools in San Diego but this one:- Is the warmest of the SD county YMCA pools- Has the chillest lifeguardsThats not to say the guards are carefree or lazy--they arent. You can see them constantly scanning the pool and I feel safe with them there--heck. They even man the hot tub! I just appreciate guards who can recognize that its safer for a struggling kid to grab onto a lane line than to lose it over a broken rule. The locker rooms have been well-maintained and sometimes the showers could be a little warmer, but overall a great experience.

Re done locker rooms, resurfaced pool, a big gym for kids (enrolled in class). Offers martial arts and other sports for kids. Includes a kids care area for parents to drop thier kids off at while they work out. Parking is usually prety easy, and there is a big overflow lot on the east side. Staff is all fairly helpful. Swimming classes are super chaotic. Save your time (and sanity) and get the private lessons. My daughter has greatly disliked all the camps that she attended here. The camps are mostly outdoors in a dirt lot.....so what is to love?

We really like this YMCA!Childcare: We have the family membership, so we utilize the childcare every time we go. They have the best hours of all of the YMCAs in San Diego (IMO) and are only closed from 2-3. The staff are fantastic. My son had never been in any form of daycare when we started going so it was a little bit of a rough transition. The staff are absolutely fantastic; they are incredibly attentive and caring when he gets upset, and try to calm him down on their own before they come and get me. Every time theyve come to get me Ive felt it was absolutely justified, and otherwise they are always warm and happy to see him (even if he doesnt reciprocate). Its been perfect for better socializing him.Classes: The group exercise classes are varied and plentiful. I personally prefer dance-style classes, and wish there were more of them, but there are a lot of options at almost every time of day. The instructors for every class I have attended have been energetic and engaging. Exactly what you want.Individual Exercise Equipment: Fantastic facilities with lots of options here! Plentiful cardio machines of all varieties. They even have 2 of the stair treadmills that are so hard to find! Plenty of circuit equipment, if thats your thing. Both the resistance band style and the weighted style. The small gym has free weights and kettlebells and a wide variety of additional equipment more suited to the crossfit style workout. The stretching area leave a little to be desired. Its slightly cramped, but as long as everyone is using the space respectfully it works just fine.Locker Rooms: LOVE that they have free, self-set combo lockers. No need to bring your own lock and plenty of space for a large gym bag. Showers are spacious and hot with decent pressure. They even provide hairdryers and a swimsuit dryer.I havent used the pool yet, so no opinion there. I also havent yet taken advantage of the childrens classes, but hope to soon. One final note; there is a huge, beautiful playground and picnic area just outside the building. Its awesome. Picnic benches, large grass area, and a huge junglegym for kids.We really love this YMCA!
