Decent range. It appears to cater to non-gun owners, so if you dont regularly shoot, you might want to check this place out. I was the only one here with my own firearm. The range officer was very active, making his rounds and continually reminding everyone of the range rules. Obviously they dont want any accidents.

Best gun club in town. Most professional training you can get in San Diego. These guys care about you being a responsible and well trained gun owner.

With all the hectic stuff going on and many customers to handle Peter went over and above what I asked for. I was looking for a 1911 4.5 in 45 and I was willing to get the floor model but Peter asked if he could dabble check the back and get back to me because I deserve the best, I then told him thats fine he can call me back tomorrow but that was not good enough for Peter. He got back to me in 30 minutes almost down to the second and unfortunately there were none in the back but im so happy he let me know. I have spoken to at least 3 other gun shops and none got back to ke at all. To have someone so dedicated to the customer and still so bigness oriented is amazing. I only hope they are treating him as he deserves. And I hope everyone there is even half as amazing as Peter. Thanks again your the best.

First time gun owner and being in California there is A LOT to know and do. I went to other gun shops and left feeling stupid sometimes due to the tone other gun shops speak to you when you are not sure about all the laws and fire arm regulations (again being in California they go out of there way to make it difficult.) That however is NOT the case at discount gun mart. All my questions were answered in a friendly, conversational tone. It is orderly and the staff are very knowledgeable. There are also cool monthly specials and training. Overall a great first time gun buying experience from discount, would recommend anyone looking for a firearm to stop here!

Worst customer service there is. No communication and have no knowledge of people having appointments and sitting inside talking just chatting with their employees, WHILE PEOPLE ARE WAITING OUTSIDE AND NO ONE COMING OUT SO ASK ANY QUESTIONS.

I dont often post bad reviews - just look at my history - but I gotta let people know about these guys.I bought a firearm with 15 round mags from an online dealer and did an FFL transfer to Discount Gun Mart as they were closest to me - total mistake. Since 15 round mags arent legal in CA, the dealer I bought from said that DGM could just add blocks to make them 10 round and legal for transfer - he said thats a common practice. I also confirmed this with another dealer in the SD area.So after my gun shipped, I got a call from DGM saying my gun arrived and to come in to fill out the paperwork, background check, etc... When I came in they said they couldnt give me the 15 round mags as it was their policy to not transfer them. I asked them about adding blocks and they said it would be $40 for each mag. $80 total. SMH. The guy I talked to (I wont mention his name) said it would be cheaper to purchase 10 round mags which they carried for $35. $35!! Another gun store I talked to after said they carried these for $10 each. So I asked - What are you guys going to do with the 15 round mags?They proceeded to tell me that their policy is to hold on to them and theyll most likely resell them later. Yeah, thats exactly what they said. I was dumbfounded. So I then asked, can you just trade me 10 round mags? They said no, it wasnt their policy to do so.I ended up going to Gunfighter Tactical and they confirmed that its common to add blocks and they do so for around $10 total.Moral of the story: Dont work with these guys. If I could give a lower rating than 1/5, I would.

So I go to the website to figure out if I need an appointment It’s says nothing only they are using check in with cell phone and the will text you when you turn ( understand it’s a new Norm). I try to cal always sends me to mailbox that is full. I listen to hours it says nothing about appointments. Drive out here and wait in line to finally be told I can wait in line e to make an appointment that first available is almost a month from now. I get it, COVID changed a lot of things but you should either answer your phone or update your website so I don’t leave my house unnecessarily when I should ha e been able to just make an appointment on phone

Great experience all around at DGM this past week. Wait times are long right now due to social distancing, but the crew here has been amazing at working through it all.The woman handling the wait list, I think her name is Jessica, was very friendly and helpful while still maintaining the authority necessary to manage such a crowd (especially when attitudes creep up among those customers who either dont listen well or cant empathize with this unique situation we are all in).Ray and Richard assisted me at the counter during my visits. Both were extremely helpful and happy to answer any questions and make recommendations when needed. This place is making a very loyal customer out of me.Looking forward to doing more business with them.

Went to pick up some ammo, pistol and shotgun. Huge line out front with signs saying they were only letting five customers in at a time. Terrible parking situation. If they’re dealing with a higher volume of customers, they need to work out a better system for getting people in and out, especially those who know exactly what they need versus the people that are just there to window shop and play around.Really disappointing considering I’d been there once before and had a fairly good experience.

They were very helpful, despite a crowd and a long wait time, the staff stayed after hours to make sure everyone who was there got helped. Josh was very helpful and very knowledgeable. I would recommend this place to anyone!

Terrible experience today. I went to check on a shutgun that I want to purchase but I want to make sure that is the correct shutgun before going online and making a big purchase. I know they have one at the store but different camouflage so I need to go online and have beretta send the one that I want to DGM. Well, I got there, no line at all and a guy came outside and told me that I need to go online and make an appt. Wow...I.even explained to him that I just need to check the shutgun to make sure it fits right. Also, my husband saw a Benelli for around $5k there few months ago and he was ready to make the purchase today. Well, after the guy told us that we cant even go inside, ans to go online to make the reservation that by the way is 10 days long, we went to BassPro online and made the purchase and they will have the guns ready for us at their store. I will no go back to DGM to buy guns and I have purchased over $20k from them before. I rather drive all the way to BassPro! Bye DGM, you wont have my business anymore and I will be canceling my membership with you guys and go to P2K.I saw only 2 customers inside and few employees doing nothing inside@!

Called the Santee store to enroll for the 4 hour intro class for my wife and I, was told to talk to Kyle at the San Diego location and that i should go in early to register for the class prior to the class date.Came in on Thursday before work and Christa took care of getting us registered. At the time it was slow and she also helped me find a rifle to suit my needs and helped me find a handgun that fit me.Kyle was very thorough with his intro class. Helped with the uneasiness of firearms that my wife and i had. We also got some time on the range and i was able to shoot the pistol i had bought on Thursday. While in the range we worked on basic body mechanics and i found that i have a lot to work on for proper technique.I had called around to other shops asking questions about classes and the steps to pur hase, and i have to say that everybody that i have encountered at Discount Gun Mart has been extremely helpful and has made purchasing a firearm very easy.I have bought another firearm at another San Diego store, and the process was not nearly as easy or simplified.I would highly recommend DGM to anybody who is new to firearms and take Kyles classes. Also stop in during nonbusy times if you have questions.A few tips i will give are; make sure to pull a number at the back counter, read the info on their website, dont be afraid to ask questions, take some classes to become educated, stop in when they are slower if you want more time to browse and write down questions you may have, it can become overwhelming.I want to give a big thank you to DGM for all the time and info.Also, the range is very well ran and clean. I felt very safe in their range. I look forward to picking up my rifle and running some rounds through it.

Good overall range, targets are cheap not sure about ammo or gun rentals. Easy online reservation however if you are not a member they charge $5 a person on top of everything else. An hour of shooting ran us $28 plus $10 reservation fee.

The name “Discount Gun Mart” is borderline deceptive as you are almost guaranteed to pay more than any other retailer here. Specifically, I found that magazines were marked up significantly higher than any online retailer, even with shipping accounted for. Make sure to price check before making a purchase here. The range is fine, pretty typical for indoor ranges. I’ve had good experiences with several employees, but I’ve had enough experiences with disrespectful, condescending staff members to overshadow the positive interactions. Between the attitudes I’ve encountered and the pricing, I’ve decided this is not a place I will do business with and especially not a range I will bring my friends to Or recommend any longer.

Very helpful staff, they really know their stuff and care about their customers. Friendly, and laid back. Not crowded and good prices Ill only come here to shoot as well as all my gun purchases. Went back and bought my first gun from here and loved my visit all over again. Bought a few guns from them since. Credit card charges will recur after requesting to cancel.I purchased a membership for a few months from Discount Gun Mart. In April 2018, I requested to cancel the membership in-person at their store. The associate behind the counter nearest the front door gave me a business card and wrote memberservices@discountg… and said to send a request to that email address. On May 2, 2018, I submitted an email to request cancellation. The email was not returned, and I was unable to determine whether the request was received or acknowledged. I received a credit card charge for $44.00 on Jun 11, 2018. I called the store and asked why my credit card was charged. The associate could not help me at the time, and gave me the same email address as before.At this point, the charge is in dispute and will take 60 days to resolve. In the meantime, Discount Gun Mart may charge my credit card at least 2 more times unless I order my card issuer to initiate charge-backs for the automatic payments. If the charge stands, I will close the credit card account. This outcome will negatively affect my credit rating.I request a charge-back of $44.00 to my credit card. I request Discount Gun Mart stop auto-payments on the credit card. I also request the business delete all billing information on file. All 3 of these requests must be met for the desired outcome to be satisfactory.This information has been posted to the Better Business Bureau of San Diego. There is 1 similar complaint against this business for the same issue.

I’ve bought a lot of stuff from them. They’re very knowledgeable but very expensive. There’s not much of a discount in a taser pulse for $469 after taxes vs $275 on Amazon with less or no taxes at all. The staff is respectful. Good location. Easy parking. Clean store. Lots of quantity with lots in stock. Shop around a bit, but Discount GM will have what you want. They can easily order anything.

I had a great experience my first time in. I bought a shotgun at another store and brought it here to shoot. The place was crowded, but there was half a dozen staff and I found that they were very accommodating and knowledgeable.The first staff person I talked to was nice enough to take me into the range and show me how to load and shoot my gun safely. After I was done I decided to buy a cleaning kit and the next staff member who sold it to me was nice enough to show me how to take my rifle apart and completely clean it. In fact he did much of it for me right there on the spot.I took a look at the guns and I found them to have a large selection and the pricing was less expensive than other places I have looked. In fact the rifle I had was over $100 cheaper here than at the place where I bought it. I also have been looking at safes and was able to purchase a 20 gun safe for $100 cheaper than other places I had found it at online.The location is convenient to the beach areas for which I live. The hours are great, since they are open to 9 or 10 every day. So I must say the customer service and knowledge of the staff was great and met my needs. I plan on going back regularly.

After the California wait period I returned and Tim took care of me. He was also great. I have been coming here for years. Great location. Plenty of parking. Always an open lane on the range. The longest I have ever waited to go shoot is 2 minutes. The staff are always smiling and very friendly. Very clean facility and very nice target selection. I have only used the range so far but am always impressed with the excellent customer service I receive here. I recommend you go here to shoot. I have rented guns there too. Very cool.

Ive purchased 2 firearms now (on separate dates) from the sales associate Richard, a glock 19 and a CZ 527. I was completely new to the whole process of buying firearms and Richard walked me through everything, from taking the Firearms Safety Certificate Test to choosing the right case for my rifle. He was super friendly and patient. An absolute pleasure doing business with this establishment.Ive purchased a membership and will be coming back here to shoot often! Friendly staff, great facility, and nice selection of firearms make this the best place to purchase or shoot firearms.

I visited there 30 minutes before closing to ask some specific questions regarding two hand guns for a trip to Alaska. Unbeknownst to me til today, California no longer allows the borrowing of handguns as of 01/01/17, so I have to buy one now. Gun control at its finest, no borrowing, only purchasing. JD was incredibly helpful, patient, and has an opinion, which is nice when you are looking for the benefit of someones experience. We discussed the purpose of the firearm, long term use and care, ammunition, etc. I will return in the morning to test the two rentals they have, make a purchase, and wait 10 days. The employees felt responsible, kind, open, and their customer service was great. Good place, highly recommend.

Best prices Ive found for firearms. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. You do have to take a number to get help and it does take a while for someone to get to you but its expected as they really take the time to answer all your questions when being helped

Ive purchased several guns from them before. They have great monthly sales on firearms, ammo, and other gun needs. Today I did my first PPT. There were several new faces behind the counter, yet I received the same courteous attention as in past experiences. Needless to say the transaction went smoothly and quickly. Pleasantly surprised on how effortless they made this transfer happen. Many thanks to DGM and to the two wonderful ladies behind the counter today.

Use this shooting range for more than a year now. Friendly staff. They have good selection of ammo, targets and firearms. Bought some of my firearms here. Safe place to shoot paper targets. Courteous, friendly and helpful staff is always a big plus.

This is the best store in San Diego by far. They are often busy and it can take some time to get with someone one on one, but its obviously because they are the best that they have so much business. I wont go anywhere else for special orders or Private Party Transfer. Experienced gun buyers already know that 90 percent of inconveniences at the gun store are the other customers, this place is no exception. That being said, while waiting to be seen I have seen them take care of 100% inexperienced customers with zero down talking or disrespect. That is rare in itself in gun stores I have frequented in the past. If you are just adding to your collection or if you are looking to purchase your first firearm, they have the tools to point you in the right direction. Highly recommend, and I wish they had more locations since I am moving soon.

This place is amazing very friendly, fast and efficient. They get you in and are very knowledgeable about their products and what you need to get started. They offer amazing memberships as well. My fiancé and I love this place to go and relax while the kids are at school! Definitely a very relaxing time and big stress reliever!

Going to update my review as i did go back to give DGM another chance. happy to say things seem to be better. it wasnt a very busy day but i was promptly waited on and i couldnt help but notice some new faces behind the counter.was going to bump up from 1 to 3 stars, but threw in an extra one for Kyle their range instructor and an excellent teacher who will start you off with good habits.

Make no mistake, Discount Gun Mart can be very busy and you can easily get overlooked at the service counter. If you want/need more personal attention go during off hours and certainly not on Saturdays during the day. And be assertive in asking for help. With that said, prices can be very good to excellent depending on sale prices. Better yet if you know the current market price on a firearm and know how to negotiate - they can be reasonable. So if you go there as an informed shopper and during off hours, youll find the best prices and service in town.

I called and asked if they had a gun special in stock and they said yes then when I drive there from imperial Beach they tell me they have the gun but only 2 out of the 5 magazines because they ran out... I literally called them 40 mins before showing up there. I asked when they sold out and he said 2 days ago so obviously this shop doesnt car about waisting peoples time and fuel cost. I will not be back ever and for everyone reading this just go the extra mile to gun fighter tactical at least they actually check if they have it in stock instead of rushing me off the phone. Great costumer service! Staff are very knowledgeable and take their time with each costumer. I bought my LWRC here and I am am very pleased that it was suggested to as an option to mid level and AR. I just wished they had afforded me 10% military discount with my $2,300 purchase as most gun shops would do to those who served and still serving. All in all this store is worth recommending!

Im a first time gun owner and I went in to buy a smith & Wesson m&p shield. I called first to see if they had it in stock and to compare prices from other stores. They had it in stock and on sale. $50+ bucks cheaper then the other stores. When I got there I noticed it was a little slow. The staff was friendly and greated me. I was helped within two minutes and the young man that helped me was very nice and knowledgeable about the fire arm I wanted. He helped me through the paperwork and explained everything that I was signing. The process went quicker then expected. While waiting for some input to be put in the computer, I started to look at the ammo. Another sells rep came by and explained all the deals that they had on ammo. He also showed me gun cleaners and answered some questions I had. Then I finished signing the rest of the paperwork and paid for my weapon. I enjoyed my experience and would buy another weapon from them.

I come in pretty frequently and the guys at the check in for the range are always friendly and try to move quickly. Daniel and Jose always remember me and suggest what ammo to grab that might save me some money. Additionally, the guys behind the gun counter, DJ and Ocean (I know I mispelled your name, I apologize) were extremely helpful with several recent purchases and helping me track down a few items that are getting increasingly more difficult to find due to increased sales. While I prefer to shoot outdoors, whenever I need some range time and cant get outdoors I always come to Discount. The range is excellent, and I have never had any issues with their systems, which is not true for other places Ive visited. Its a great range!

These folks are friendly and knowledgeable. Plus their facility has separate ranges for pistol and rifle so there is seldom a long wait for a pistol line. (I dont shoot rifle so I cant comment on that side.) While it isnt the newest range around, it has everything necessary, including training classes for the newcomer. I looked at several ranges in the area before deciding on this one.

I have been a member to their range for a few years. Its a little on the high end, so I always have a hard time trying to decide to renew or not. The staff is helpful once you can get one, Stocked decently on ammo and most of the popular firearms. The accessories are older, and hit or miss, but they can always order things for you. I go to Amazon or eBay, its faster. Bought several firearms here. Good dudes!

I called and ask about making and appointment with someone to learn about gun safety and learning to shoot for me and my wife, the gentleman suggested Kyle and said he would give me a call back which Kyle did the very next day. I explain to Kyle that my wife would prefer someone that spoke Spanish and told me that he would get someone if needed. We met the fallowing Saturday after talking over what we would like to learn about Kyle showed my a few hand guns to see which one would be best for her, then he took us into the class room and began to teach us, he took his time to explain everything to a point to make sure my wife understood and she felt comfortable with what was being taught answering any questions that came up, hes a very patient man that didnt rush us through the class. Then it was time for the shooting range were again he showed his patience with my wife he taught her the proper stance the next thing I knew she was hitting the target from 15 feet away with a very tight shot group it was amazing someone that never shot a gun to become that good and that soon and she felt real comfortable of she so excited that she took her gun safety class and pass that she bought her first and Im sure not her last gun. Kyle help me out with some other things as well and the cool thing was if he wasnt sure he got someone that had knowledge for that particular equipment. I just want to say thanks so much to Kyle, Rick and the rest of staff they real friendly and very helpful they do not rush you. Oh by the way we never had to get the person to help out with Spanish.

Not sure what some of the negative reviews are all about. Made a recent purchase here and the staff were very helpful throughout the California process and made it quick and painless as possible. Also just recently used the rifle range and was very pleased with the facilities available

Went on a Saturday morning. Maybe 10 other people in the store when we got there. $12/shooter per lane, $10/pistol rental, and $24/box of 50 .40 rounds - I dont know enough to know if those prices are good or not.Staff was extremely helpful; not sure what the other reviews are complaining about. I was a first time shooter, so while things were slow, I asked questions re: the available rentals, general operation, and their selection for purchase. The two old guys behind the rental counter were jovial and informative, and werent condescending at all. It got extremely busy when we went back to swap guns, but they did a fantastic job of trying to manage the rush. I guess the only complaint would be that I didnt know which of 3 counters to approach when we walked in - but its a gun store. Im not grading on hospitality.Purchasing selection for handguns was pretty limited, from what I could tell - but thats the case everywhere nowadays. Plenty of long guns on the wall, though.

Always a pleasure. Ive been going for over 20 years. The staff are very attentive and respectful. I refer several times a year for firearms and ammunition training etc.

I drove all the way here from Poway, but the part they told me was in stock the day before was no longer available. However, I picked up an alternative brand of the same part for half the price (but I really wouldnt mind paying double for exactly the part what I was there for). The sales transaction was smooth and hassle-free. The sales representative even gave me a shooting range pass plus one guest with the purchase. The shop could be a little crowded on the weekend, but I would still highly recommend it!

Excellent instruction from Kyle. This is a safe, friendly and supportive atmosphere for a female working on improving skills! My husband and I willdefinitely return!

Why is it that all of the guys that work here have attitudes? Its a gun shop, they should be nice. The range is great, I liked that I could bring and shoot a variety of different types of fire arms and the equipment worked well. The prices are okay, not any real discount as the name says but they are not gouging customers near the city. I bought two guns there, and still go there to shoot but have to rethink that decision every time I have to deal with the rudeness of the people that work there.Upon speaking with the owner, he assured me that he was aware of the customer service issue and promised to take care of it. I was impressed by his attentiveness and will certainly go back to enjoy the modern and safe shooting facility.

Good place and very nice customers service. ( Oshin help me a lot for purchasing my firearm.) Jose is very helpful by providing information to me, of how much the gun and range rent. Good experience, definitely I will return and recommend to my friends .

A friend and I were visiting San Diego, from the UK, and wanting to experience the all American tradition of shooting guns we decided to visit the Discount Gun Mart & Indoor Range (San Diego). Upon visiting, we were greeted by the incredibly friendly staff, Jose and Kyle. Who spent a good amount of time explaining the dos and do not’s about guns and gun safety. Jose was particular helpful and guided us through the various types of guns and how they work. With Joses guidance we decided to rent one hand gun and one rifle, both perfect for first time shooters. Jose taught us the very basics and even taught us a few important shooting lessons to help improve our technique (which included a small demonstration). Overall, we had a lot of fun over a couple of hours, in what felt like a very professional environment. I was happy to have my first shooting experience at the Discount Gun Mart & Indoor Range and would definitively recommend them to others in a similar position.

My husband shoot at the indoor range here before and had bought stuffs from here.This time I tagged along with him to exchanged the 2 boxes of armo he bought few days ago.The staffs were friendly. No hassles even when my husband did not have physical receipt. They have their own way of keeping records of what they sold.The place is bright inside, everything are in places. They seems to have everything relate to guns or shooting.They have a TV out front that you can see whats going on @ the shooting range in the back.I know nothing about guns and such, so while waiting, I just aimlessly wandering about looking at this, touching that... none of the male staffs in there frown at me.I always thought guns store are scary and staffed with tough, steirn looking men . So I never go with my husband when he go to the guns store. If I did, I always wait in the car, except this time.I was glad I went inside.I might even tag along next time my husband want to go shoot.

Worst customer service Ive ever seen or experienced. The customer service desk is extremely rude and not helpful. The sales team was inexperienced and rushes you through the entire process. Hard to get their attention or straight answers. The accounting is terrible and takes forever. I would never spend another penny at this place. The owner is a good guy but his staff is awful. As a combat veteran I feel the shooting community deserves a lot more respect. They lost my business for life

It was my worst experience on November 27th, DISCRIMINATION&RACISM. It starts awesome from 10 am to 1 pm getting a family re qualification. I than decided to buy a Christmas gift for my daughter. beginning I got a good assistant from a young gentleman, he requested us to rent one first and try it, so he send us to the counter a cross from the entrance where an Elder gentleman (mustache all over his mouth) provide me with dome papers to fill them out. He then start scanning me up and down and suddenly he stepped back and says :YOU CANNOT GO INSIDE ALONE, YOURE FROM OUTSIDE THIS COUNTRY I said excuse me I am 60 years old, I am a us citizen and I am not alone all my family here. He said THAN OKAY YOU CAN GO THEN HE SAID YOU KNOW WHAT, I DONT LIKE YOU ATTITUDE YOU NEED TO LEAVE I then left the place with my family....its so sad to see a place like this going on wrong direction, shame on discount gun mart.
