This old-fashioned jazz club is like medicine for a troubled soul and a weary spirit. Go there and let yourself be submersed in the honest, traditional and intelligent art form that is jazz, and you will emerge refreshed and believing in humanity again. I love this place and its owner, Pascal, and urge everybody to support him and this unique bastion of jazz in the bay area.
We were fortunate enough to come here on a Thursday and witness a breathtaking night of Jazz by Stephanie and co! I loved the earnestness of the band and the fact that they could spontaneously switch gears multiple times while going through numerous songs (modern and classical) through the night.Post the show we got the chance to interact with the folks in person and got to know that Stephanie also plays at the club every Tuesday. Definitely gonna visit again !As for the bar, theyve got a great cocktail menu and do have a cover charge of 20 bucks for the performance. We did appreciate the fact that we were charged a prorated amount since we arrived an hour before they shut down .Theres ample parking right in front of the bar
Intimate jazz club. Drinks and casual dining. 2 rooms with seating you can hear but not view the band in the dining room which has several large screen televisions. The performance space is comfortable, intimate, warm. The performance area is nearly level with seating and affords good views of the artists. Savanna is the antithesis of large arenas and theaters. An excellent choice for the jazz purists in your life. Casual dress, moderate pricing, discounts for cash ticket purchase.
Ooohh I loved this spot. So intimate and chill, with a great selection of artists. This would be a great date spot or a casual night for drinks.
I believe it to be one of the hidden gems of the Peninsula. The staff is very attentive, good humored and keep the place spotless.Theres a very positive atmosphere that can transport you to a differentl, eye opening, era. Its a fun artistic environment to experience.
I visited Savanna Jazz for the first time to see Indygo Rhythm Section play on a Sunday evening. What a treat! This is a great venue for Jazz aficionados. There are two spaces: you enter from the street into the bar, where you can sit at a cocktail table and enjoy sports and other events streamed on screen. A second door leads to the back room, where the bands play and there is lounge style seating. This arrangement is great for music lovers, as the bar noise is kept mostly in the front room, and you can enjoy all those great bass solos. As others have noted, there is a distinct European Jazz club ambiance. You can almost imagine that you arent in Silicon Valley.
The best place to go if you want to listen live jazz music!
Super waitress, Lupeter. Evening started quite (8pm) but warmed up and ended up having a fun evening chatting with fellow guests. Food was very average and drinks were on the expensive side and the $25 cover charge was not on the website. So if you are used to jazz clubs then probably no surprises but a hundred dollars did seem a bit steep for the evening.
Cozy place . Jazz music. Good for date, double date. We had a great time. It was the first time i went to a jazz club. And it was fantastic. Recommend this. Nice place, good wine. Had beer though .
Great place for live jazz 7 days a week.
Small, intimate space . Like being g in your living room.
Great spot. Awesome music. Service could have been a little bit better by being more frequent but overall really cool spot!
This is an interesting experience in jazz. Truly an intimate musical presentation on Friday night. Money well spent for a great musical memory. A friendly bar staff, relaxed patrons.
I love Tuesdays at Savannahs and they have Fireball
Very quaint bar. The bartender, Angeles, is so sweet! Want to go to a quiet Hideaway? Savanna Jazz Club is the place! Live Jazz bands and entertainment every evening after 8pm. Vicky, the owner, is a sweetheart as well! Stumble on in!
Really chill spot to vibe to some live music. The drinks are on point too.
So far this is one of my favorite clubs. Went to a friend b-day party. Its has a beautiful patio with lights, the inside is modern, clean the music is great. Great customer service. Sexy dancers. They give free strawberries dipped in chocolate delicious. Love this place. I was very impressed. Will come back again.
Intimate and diversified drinking, conversing and musically charged spaces that will bring you backAgain for more....fun and relaxation!
Not what i expected from my search on google. No real dinner menu and i went to enjoy a steak and live jazz. The band was fun, but hardly any audience either so kind of weird.
Wonderful jazz trio accompanied accomplished guitarist Pascal Bokar who was also wonderful. Each player was great. And the club had a truly lovely vocalist interspersed in the evenings show. I cant explain how great it was to hear such entertaining live music. Just go here. The mixed drinks were really good and they had a good selection of beers on tap. Decent bar grub too, but really go here for an entertaining live show.
Great music and cocktails, personable staff and friendly atmosphere.
If you enjoy live jazz, this is the place. Something different every night of the week .
Its good to hear actual cafe Jazz
Oh my! What a hidden gem this place is. The intimacy and acoustics are perfect for a spot to see and hear some quality jazz musicians on the Peninsula. We caught the Sunday school jam from 2-5pm and will definitely be coming back for more!
The music was excellent and venue perfect for enjoying great music
Nice ambience music is great. Ordered sweet potato fries which are delicious dips are so so. Bartender forgot to get me water and I had to as for a napkin. Seems like this would be automatic with fries. The music is outstanding!!
Came here on a whim last night. Website didnt list a cover charge which is what we wanted to just listen for an hour while we ate some food.Pros: Cool ambiance. Intimate space. Full bar. Music is in the back so you can sort of hear it in the bar.Cons: $25 cover charge that wasnt noted anywhere but at the door. Lack of servers. Lack of service. The menu sucks - $16 for 3 mushy chicken tenders and cold tasteless fries, $8 for 6 mozz sticks that had good flavor but the cook blew up the first batch he tried to fry so we had to wait 30 min for our food. Staff could not have cared less that we were unhappy.Generally 100% disappointed in this place. Will never recommend anyone comes here.
Amazing music every night of the week
Cosy jazz club with separate bar and eating area. Table cover to see jazz show varies depending on the day of the week; was told anything from $5 to 10 during week and higher at weekend. Nice decor and atmosphere. Recommended.
Love this place!!! Incredible jazz, intimate performance space, great cocktails, delicious sweet potato fries. They could use some healthier food options but Ive seen people get other restaurant food delivered to them while watching a show.
Great place with good Ambience and a friendly bartender! would visit again.
Classic jazz spot. Pascal is a true African and plays popcorn guitar. No longer serves dinner.
This is EXACTLY what you would hope for in a jazz club: great music, 7 nights a week, with a small, intimate setting. It amazes me this gem is hidden in San Carlos.
Very nice place for jazz lovers!!
Love this place! Great bartender and the drinks are always exactly how we like/want them! She is super fun to talk to and the music is always nice to listen to!
For a Sunday afternoon of jazz...in the middle of the day... it was dark & very hot..definitely not a jazzy (brunch 2-5 style of venue.Music was excellent tho.
Small Jazz room in the rear of the place. I caught a Sunday afternoon jam session. Cheap entry, no cover, good vibes.
Cute, quaint jazz joint...love it!
Excellent music and ambiance. Good service and drinks are good and reasonably priced.
Cool spotNicely done there is cover charge of 10bucks.To go into the back Room
1st time ... quite enjoyable, live jazz music... interesting little snacks/appetizers #worldfamousPatLyons style #enjoyTheMoment
Great venue. Enjoy
Amazing classic jazz. I wish I lived closer...
Pretty great.1) VERY GOOD JAZZ. The owner is a guitarist of some repute, and when he doesnt have an outside band, it seems he rounds up some of his favorite cats and they play. The setting is very intimate and sounds good. There is a $15 per person cover to hang out in the jazz lounge, but if thats too rich you can get an earful at the bar for the price of drinks.2) Food is OK because they have you order from outside places. Theres the good wood fired pizza place two doors down, theres the great dumpling place on the other side. I really hope they keep this policy. They dont have room for a kitchen and a kitchen is a hassle !3) Drinks and beers are only OK, which is why the 4 stars. On the good side, theyre not overpriced, so the price-performance is reasonable. The attitude of the female owner is a bit abrasive, rather like shed honestly prefer if none of us showed up, but Im willing to set that aside for good live music, which has nearly vanished from the peninsula.
I love this place. Being from Chicago, I was looking for a smaller blues and jazz place to hang out. The vibe is perfect and the talent is great. Reasonable cover - typically around 20ish. Food is great. Staff is wonderful. Would get tickets in advance for special events.
An intimate space for jazz.
Nice, intimate setting with music you can feel in your soul.
Excellent jazz, great ambiance, great cocktails ... Feels like NYC in the South Bay. Truly a local institution that supports arts of all kinds in our community. Note: bring cash. There is a cover for the music, but totally worth it!
What a great find. The perfect place to hear jazz in San Francisco far from crowds and tourists. We were lucky to come across this place and came back 3 times. Modest cover, very reasonably priced drinks and GREAT music and atmosphere. Thank you Savanna Jazz! If you are staying downtown its a few steps from the BART station at 24th and Mission.
Cozy jazz club that feels like an institution. Small as it should be. Amazing find. Definitely coming here again.
This is my new favorite spot! Great love music, strong drinks, and a warm atmosphere made for writing poetry or just having a solid uninterrupted conversation.
A surprising gem. Found great music here. Have been twice and will be going as often as I can.
Great ambience. Good drinks, good music. Ideal date location
Great selection of wine and other spirits. Great live jazz, check online. Relaxed friendly environment. Great addition to San Carlos, CA.
Couldnt recommend this place highly enough. The owners are the best people in the world, and the music is phenomenal. Definitely worth a visit.
Awesome. The entertainer, was superb.
Nice little divey jazz lounge. Covers for shows can be very very pricey for what it is, though, and food prices are extremely high for bar food. Drinks are good, though, with a nice champagne selection as well as a tasty cocktail list. Try their Sazerac and gimlet and you wont be disappointed. Ive only been on Sunday evenings, when its very quiet and mellow, but they have seating back for the live shows or high tops out front (in addition to the bar of course). You can sit out on the high tops or the bar and hear the live music just fine.
The vibes were cool and the people were friendly. The Jazz was fantastic. We enjoyed the salsa and chips while we sipped our drinks and feasted our ears on the good stuff. We highly recommend this place for an authentic, jazzy experience!
Food drinks and live jazz music is fabulous and well deserving of our support. Very romantic to enjoy w your beloved!
Sax player was out of tune. They wanted $5 to listen to this jam session. Jam sessions usually dont charge a cover. This was not a guest sax player. It was the house band and I couldnt bear listening for more than a minute.I used to go to Savannah Jazz when it was in SF. Drove down to San Carlos to this new location. Wont return.
When I do, my first choice certainly would not be to a club. However, since my wonderful friend from Ohio was making an unexpected visit to Cali so soon after her last one, I could not very well decline the invite.
Really awesome and nice bartenders, good food, good music
Hot, cramped, and lousy food. We were there for the music and it wasnt properly air conditioned, so it was like watching a band in a sauna all night. Rude management, too.
This place is great as a bar. They hae a fryer and serve deep fried food but the smell and tje fumes are overwhelming. The club section is very cramped and seating is uncomfortable.
Not open during advertised opening hours...
Great jazz club and bar. Recommended
Awesome venue. Almost didnt post a review so the word wouldnt get out to non San Carlos residents.
Quaint establishment hidden in San Carlos. Very cozy atmosphere and very helpful staff.
Best jazz in Bay area.
Live music., friendly people
Great place. Great live music
Music great....food & service not a priority.
Pros: Good Jazz, nice ambiance and cool peopleCon: Lack luster food, food taste like it came out of a can/ bag and just reheated$10 cover charge even when dinning incocktails just okTried to sneak in a extra $ on my transaction when I clearly wrote the total amount on the check will let my bank know.Great for good live music (Jazz) but eat and maybe even drink elsewhere.
Reasonable drink prices on the peninsula.
Amazing place for the Jazz lovers.I was staying in San Carlos for two weeks and went to Savanna Jazz 4 times.Bartender is really nice and the music is really good.
Great music, ambiance and staff.
Savannah Jazz is a hidden gem! The talent, venue and courteous staff makes your experience memorable.
Owner is very knowledgeable about jazz history and a conversation with him is lik being dropped into the past. Hes an amazing historian. Great club, amazing atmosphere.
Nice bar cool jazz
Great bartenders. Great music and beer selection
Highly recommend
Amazing little find! Great atmosphere.
Cool place good music
Great live jazz music, paid $10 cover on a Saturday night but well worth it. Easy going atmosphere and great service.
Nice little club with regular jazz and decent food - nice for a date
Great jazz, intimate feel, neighborhood vibes. Love it!
Friendly wait staff, great music.
Love going here and listening to jazz. Great friendly staff, and the owner is always walking around checking on things.
Pretty solid dive jazz bar!
Show of the Sambada band! Great music and atmosphere.
Great to have a great local Jazz establishment in San Carlos.
Great date venue!
