Really nice facility with tranquil and clearly marked trail heads. nothing intense, but makes for a really enjoyable stroll on a quiet saturday afternoon. not too many people about and people were good about wearing masks and keeping distance. there is a parking fee, but it looked like not everyone paid?
Super cool views of SF airport and flights taking off and landing. Very shady and interesting short hikes. Has picnic tables both reservable and drop in. Has two children play area as well. One of lower make trail was closed others were open.I saw the park team who was sanitizing all the children play areas.
Beautiful park! Two playgrounds, one for young children and the other for pre-teens and teens. Nice trails primarily in the shade. Friendly staff. Picnic tables and bathrooms available.
Very shady and interesting short hikes. Has picnic tables both reservable and drop in. Has two children play area as well.
A nice small county park with a few regular park amenities and a few short trails. The Eastern facing views over the bay are pretty nice. Great for group events or just a solo casual hike.
What I appreciate most is that there was just enough parking by the rangers station and the clearly marked trails. Many of them are one way to allow for social distancing also!
One of my favorite hikes in the area by far. Parts of it feel like a dinosaur jungle, other parts like grassy hilltops. The eucalyptus always smells so wonderful. My dog loves it here. Highly recommend.
We picnicked at the drop-in picnic area near the upper playground, which has several play structures, two huge slides, & a swingset. We all appreciated how clean & well-kept the area is, plus the chainlink fence adds a level of safety for children. Amazing views, lovely environment. LOTS of pine & eucalyptus so the air smells wonderful! There are many nice walking trails to explore, too.
Beautiful exhibits and great employees.
Great park! jungle gym Is actually challenging and a great workout for those very active kids. The slide even got me a little scared before I went down! What a rush who! The views of the bay breathtaking. Looks like a great place for a birthday party. U DO HAVE TO PAY FOR PARKING BOOO! BUT IM CHEAP! THE PARK IS TOTALY WORTH IT!
Junipero Sierra is your average family friendly local county park - a few short, relatively easy trails that lead up to a view of SFO, playgrounds and a variety of picnic areas with BBQ grills that you can reserve or drop in to use. There is a $6 parking fee and you can self-register if there isnt a ranger at the gate.Be aware if you choose to run or walk along the path on the shoulder of Crystal Springs road... Cars tend to fly around the curve much faster than the speed limit.
Lovely playground for kids.
Our group has had our annual picnic at Junipero Serra for more than 10 years. As a group, the general consensus this year was one of disappointment. We were met with many notices from the rangers about many small infractions. We could not display our flag, we had a tarp tied to a tree that had to be removed, the ‘music was too loud’, and we were not to bring folding tables. The interactions were respectful but many. The site had a lot of bees, and they provided one trap, that was ineffective. Sorry if this is the new normal.
Nice park in San Bruno. There are a lot of eucalyptus trees. There is a hiking trail at the back entrance from the San Bruno Park. There is a nice childrens playground at the top of the Hill, or end of the road from the main entrance to the park. You can also get there from the hiking trail that is in the back of the San Bruno Park. Theres a great View of the Bay in the San Francisco Airport. There are plenty of picnic tables and there are nice bathroom facilities. There is a fair amount of road noise.
This is a more natural park and thus has lots of Poison Oak along the pathways. The lower play structure is great for 4+ and is totally fenced. The upper playground is better for maybe 6+, but is also totally fenced. There are bathrooms at both. The trails are ok--somewhat short, dusty, and full of Poison Oak--but if you are looking for something a bit more native, then they are for you. Dogs are currently allowed on-leash at the park. There are picnic areas that can be reserved and some have pinata poles (!!?). The view of the Bay is awesome from the upper playground and picnic areas
Great little gem of a park between 280 & El Camino!
Very serene for a midday walk...a lovely urban oasis.
As of 10/7/2020: park is closed on weekdays
Beautiful and Sunny. Wheelchair accessible ramps and fine cedar gravel paths hardpacked for rolling. Great place to bring dogs too!
They are allowing dogs on leash for a trial period starting June 2019, so I finally visited this park after 15 years of living nearby. Great for a short hike with your dog. Parking is $6.
A beautiful location with unfortunately hostile park supervisors.Due to unposted rules restricting a single group, regardless of size, to 2 tables and a fire pit, and any activity more than picnicking requiring a permit, the park unfortunately did not meet our needs. This would not have been an issue if we had been treated with respect or courtesy when told. While the ranger was friendly in reciting these unposted rules, when we spoke with the supervisor P. Alvarez she was rude, aggressive, and combative. Safe to say that I will not be returning, despite the natural beauty.
The best to hairdressers in the city oh, now under one roof. You cant go wrong! Thank u Nancy n Amy!
Nice hiking trails that lead to a nice secluded park overlooking SFO airport.
Lots of nice trails through the woods, with a nice lookout point, playground, volleyball court and picnic areas.
Great park and playground, nice views at the top and was not crowded.
Stroller friendly hike (but you might need a jogger stroller). But there are way too many mosquitoes so I stay clear of this trail in the evenings.
Nice place to hike
Beautiful park. Enjoy the different sections and beautiful trails. Perfect for parties.
Nice little park
Awesome, best slide in San Bruno best view too. Great staff. Its also far less populated then San Bruno Park (right below it) so my kid never has to wait on a piece of piece of play equipment and I dont need to worry about not plowing over other parents and kids when we play tag lol.
Our group left this park when we were rudely and uncompassionately told that unposted rules prevented our gathering. We then learned that the ranger, P. Alvarez, had eavesdropped on our conversation regarding what other San Mateo park we were going to, and had called ahead to tell them not to let us play there, despite the fact that we had played there in the past. That kind of vindictive behavior is unnecessary and unbecoming of such a beautiful location.
Superb weather and bathroom facilities were nearby too. Power and playground are also available.
Nice small park with lot of picnic benches and view of the airport.not very crowded and clean. Park rangers are right at the entrance of the park. On weekends you can throw parties also at the park for kids.
This is a nice little park with clean facilities and two great playgrounds. The playground near the entrance is surrounded by picnic tables so you can keep an eye on kids. The playground up top has a set of long slides and a great view of the bay. The trails are easy, short, and well marked but beware of poison oak. The Quail loop trail is nice (there is even a small patch of redwoods!) but you can hear freeway sounds. Many picnic sites are reservable but there are also open picnic tables near both playgrounds. There is a $6 parking fee.
My kids an I love this park!
Junipero Serra Park is an amazing place to go hiking or go running. There are many different trails you can follow and explore that all loop around the park, which makes it difficult to get lost
Decent park with a nice space for gatherings and birthdays. In fact, there was a large birthday party happening while I was there. The De Anza parking lot requires a pass or $6 enclosed in a envelope form (dont forget to bring a pen). If you didnt wanna pay, you can park about a half mile up the road. The walk can be tiring since its uphill on the way back. The trails here are alright and could be maintained better. Not the most beautiful trails but could be nice for some quick uphill exercises.
It is a great park for a family BBQ!
Great place to bring family.
I miss the huge swings that hung over the mountains edge. The playground there is really cool though! Love the metal slides. You cant find those everywhere. I loathe those plastic static electricity inducing slides. Many good memories here.
Very pretty from the car. unfortunately, we had to turn back around since they don’t allow dogs, even on-leash. $6 park fee.
Nice place to visit especially with the kids
Really like the views good vantage point to see the airport among other landmarks.
Still a gem. Too bad its not maintained as as it should be. Still a lovely bit of open space.
Too many bees. We had to put all our food under the table cloths. Thank God none of us are allergic. I wouldnt say it ruined our reunion. I would say it put a big damper on the day and there is no circumstance that I would consider using this park ever again.
Great trails, paved, fire road, and single track trails. Bee mindful, you are entering a natural habitat; there are creepy crawlers, flying insects, and so much goodness. You are entering natures home, bee respectful.
We really enjoyed The whole park. The hiking the awesome view. No dogs GREAT
I have no idea. Ive never been here. But Google seems to think that I have. They can track me at 80 miles an hour as I move down the freeway to within 3 of my actual position. But they cant seem to figure out that Ive never been to junipero serra park. Im sure its a nice . Im just putting this review up To get Google to quit requesting I review it
This is a really nice park but the bees are out of control and they should let you know when you reserve a spot for a party because the bees were literally swarming the food tables and the people who were eating. You need screen houses to enjoy food at this park or dont go, it ruined our party that we spent a year planning.
Love going here, away from the hustle of cities
Great music on Friday nights!
So many great memories at this park. The smell of the tall eucalyptus, the winding trails through the woods up to a beautiful view - just a couple of many reasons I love this park.
Bayview Shelter is a great group event location. Private but convenient to ask the amenities. And an amazing view!
Oasis in the middle of urban jungle. Well kept beauty and nature coexisting together. Lots of perks. Well cleaned restrooms. Power outlets. Fresh waterater. Kids park. BBQ grills. Park rangers.
Every time Friends and Family visited this beautiful park, many good memories were shared. Also very clean and plenty of parking.
Great views. Not too crowded. Nice trails. Nice place to BBQ.
I loved the scenic views it was spacious and lots of tables.. And one thing is ppl who go there need to clean up afterself please. I seen someone leave trash .. I hate that.. Also the slides were fun.. $6 parking fee....
Beautiful little Park with overlook of sfo
My favorite to not be in the crowed places and kids love the big slides
Always nice views of the airport and the huge slide next to The bay view picnic area is fantastic. To Far ? Depends where you live great place with shade much cooler than Flood park with better views to boot. Store are close for food ice n beer runs!
Rude rangers, taking photos of a group without consent.
The park with the most amazing view!! A must for visitors and locals alike. Grillers are available in case you may want to plan a bbq with a group of friends
If this is your local park, you already know about it. If you dont live nearby, its probably not worth the trip. A few trails, some with views of SFO airport. Several picnic sites with shelters that you can reserve. Nice playground at the top of the hill.
Great park!
Open, spacious, picnic areas, and bathrooms! Lol there were no bathrooms at any of the parks in the last city I lived in. The park also has an amazing view of San Bruno, South San Francisco, and SFO.
Not many things can do. Big slide is good, view of airport is good. Climbing structure is closed.
Very quiet and nice natural environment which is great for hiking and kids play.
Park with great views over San Bruno and SFO. Not many trails. Some picnic
Great park for a picnic and hike. Nice views
Nice open space for the kiddos. Bathrooms onsite a bonus. Pretty well kept.
Good hiking trails
Pleasant place for hiking, but there us a use fee if you drive in.
We have so much fun in this place grate for familys.
Beautiful views of SFO, but Indian summef made it hot and the bees enjoyed our picnic food than we did.
Thee perfect view of the airport. Perfect view ! Just perfect.
Great view of San Francisco Bay and the airport. Took an amazing video of a jumbo jet taking off.
Nice trails. Most are well maintained and marked.
Nice park just a bit far and needs more fencing so balls dont roll away
Small hill
Massive, regal, yet still feels like a community park.
Great view, over see SFO, nice play ground
Nice park but wasps swarmed our picnic really bad.
First time there. Great grounds, we went for someones party.
Nice view, but extremely windy, only shelters help
Nice place to visit
My favorite place to walk
Nice park
Fantastic place for family gathering and BBQ.
Love it.
Lovely
