I love visiting here. Looking forward to returning with my coworkers. This place has an awesome atmosphere. Atmosphere and food reminds me of Virginia Beach.
We ended the bachelor party festivities at How at the Moon and it didn’t disappoint! Fun atmosphere, great drinks, and extremely talented musicians! It was like we went to 4 different clubs and a rock concert but we never had to leave! If you have a group of 4 or more I highly recommend getting a package and reserving a table. It was like having front row tickets. All in all- a very memorable experience!
This place will surprise you. There was fast and courteous service. The place has a nice atmosphere. Mood here reminds me of Colorado Springs area.
This place is so much fun! We went on a Tuesday night and it was crazy busy. We had such a good time that we went again the next night and brought coworkers and prospective clients with us. Everyone had a great time and was still talking about it the next day.The drinks were good (ask about the bucket ) and the service was great. Our server dropped by our table often so we could order more drinks. The musicians are truly talented. They rotated singing, playing the piano, guitar, and drums. True entertainers, they encouraged the audience to sing along and dance. We’ll be back whenever we’re in town!!
Super savory. I think I might become a regular. This place has a great atmosphere.
You will not be disappointed in the menu and service. Had a friend come into town and she asked me to take her here again. Prices are fair.
Service is prompt even when they are busy. Ill return with my coworkers. The place has a nice feel to it.
Howl at the Moon is a must visit! The musicians are INCREDIBLY talented and play such a variety of music, you will definitely find something you like. You can also request songs and there are very few they dont know. Great date night, place to meet people and have an awesome time! Stay for an hour or all night.
Just arrived in town for a conference and this was our first stop. Guy at the door, I believe his name was “Eric,” claimed we were too intoxicated to enter. We had not had a drop to drink. “Eric” got his manager “Mark” to come out to back him up when we questioned his poor judgment. “Mark,” apparently attempting to form a sense of solidarity with his staff yet alienating potential clientele (that’s profit, take note owner), ran with Eric’s judgment and backed him up stating that the bartender said we were too intoxicated. We never met the bartender. We had never even been anywhere in San Antonio. Thanks, Eric and Howl at the Moon ( and Mark) for helping me decide NOT to bring anyone here (San Antonio). Little, embarrassing things like this are the things that make an impression, and you did it Eric! Thank you for making this an easy decision Eric. Howl at the Moon already went out of business in my home town, probably because of issues similar to mine and now I know why. Anyone who reads this looking for a good way to enjoy your night in San Antonio without it being overshadowed with an awkward experience should avoid this place, I am dead serious. Ruined my first day/night in San Antonio, I do not recommend to anyone. Thank you “Eric” the door guy and “Mark” the manager. FREE CONSULTATION TO OWNER OF BUSINESS: Fire “Eric” or whoever was working the door on Sunday March 1st 2020 and have a solid talk with “Mark” or whoever claimed to be the manager about how business works. I will never be returning to San Antonio again, that is how disappointing my experience was.
We have been to a few Howls and this one is right there with the others. Only complaint and it really isnt that much of one is that there were only 3 performers where the others we have been to have more than that. The talent did an excellent job though. We did love the variety of songs that were played. You had the musts like Piano Man and Sweet Caroline but other songs that we werent expecting. Would definitely go back if ever in San Antonio again.
My fiance and I came here on a Saturday and it was PACKED! $5 each to get in. We had a great time and everyone else in the place looked like they were having a great time aswell. Very happy atmosphere Oh and the band was great! and the music they played was fun!
Fun girls night out. We reserved seats on the rail and it was perfect. With our reservations we received 2 -$10 dollar gift cards we could use on drinks and it included cover charge. Definitely recommend the reservations and sitting on the rail -gives you great line of sight for the pianos, and everyone in there. Great service. Really enjoyed it.
I had no idea the awesome experience I would have at this place. Good drinks, good service, and amazingly talented entertainment. I will definitely be back here and I dont even live in San Antonio lol.
I went with my girlfriend and some friends. We had some issues with our check the night we went. We went back the next night to speak with the manager, Derek. Derek was extremely helpful with everything that happened. He has done a great job with the everything and was the reason we decided to go back again.
This place is awesome! Its got friendly staff, the musicians are talented and entertaining. Its super clean and the overall environment is fun. Theres no smoking so the air was breathable. Plus the place has security so you feel super safe being there. Expect cover charges that range from $7-10 dollars. I went for two nights, Thursday and Friday. Thursday, I bought 3 of the small buckets, which is what theyre known for, each one cost $24.00! I dont even know how much the bigger one costs but I imagine it to be in the $50.00 range. They are pricey but super delicious! Friday night, I ordered Dos Equis, thinking beer would be cheaper but drinks like beer and regular size cocktails cost $10.00 each! Therefore, I suggest maybe drinking a little before you get there or go and have a few and then go somewhere else if you plan on drinking a lot. If not, then have a few drinks and enjoy the show! Oh and also try the shots, the jello shots are good and there was also another one but I vaguely remember the name. I wanna say it was called the buttery nipple or something like that. It basically tasted like butterscotch and it was super delicious. Overall, we had fun nights at Howl at the Moon and I will definitely be going back!
Super cool atmosphere! I love the live music! Drinks are pretty pricey, and there is a door fee. Specialty shots about $9, but really good! Id say over all worth it if youre looking for a fun night! If youre ballin on a budget, maybe not for you
Very filling. The staff was very friendly and kind. Mood here reminds me of San Diegos scene.
Wowza! The musicians were amazing playing an array of music that really engaged the crowd. The staff or bartenders were attentive and super nice! I had free refills of water all nights long! Will most definitely be back in the future!
This place is pretty awesome. Ive gone quite a few times and they always seem to have live entertainment. There usually is a cover charge, $5-$10 depending. The drinks are bomb. They have special mixed drinks that can come in 12oz, 32oz and 60oz if I remember correctly. Definitely give this place a chance if you have the opportunity!
The cinnamon churros and light buffet they had for our bicycle tourism group was filling! Drinks were as expected. Except the “Get Lit” for $30+ to share among friends with lighted ice cubes was pretty cool. Great service offered us the mini 24 oz version than made it with whatever we wanted.Awesome fun place.
Love this place. My partner and I always have fun at the Houston and San Antonio location.Very talented entertainers. Only downside is you need to teach your door guy at the SA location some manners. He is the first and last impresssion and he was very rude 11/28/19.
Fantastic place, excellent atmosphere, super fun time. The band at this location is very fun and talented. Each member can play any instrument, and can play requests on the spot. We had a great time!!
Cutest bartender (Heather) took care of my friends and I at the upstairs bar. Two levels of a friendly environment good for mingling. Fun games, good drinks and super cute decor.
Great chil vibes
OMG! This place is such a great time. The dueling pianos, AMAZING! The talent was unbelievable. The service and drinks, really great.
Was very disappointed with the bartender service, drink price and extra charges placed on my credit card. The extra charges did go away and the manager was quick in responding and answered my questions. The 32 oz bucket was roughly $25 and specialty shots were about $10 each, I do not have the exact price on receipt. If youd like a sweet drink to enjoy a bucket is good, it did not seem to have high alcohol content. The pianist was great, did not seem to play a lot of rock music though.
Super fun! Only downside is that there isn’t much seating. If you like to stand then this place is great.
This place is amazing. Supports the military, and all local public servants with great discounts. I recommend 100 times a thousand.
Thank you thank you for having an attendant in the bathroom on a Tuesday night! This is something I became accustomed to in New Orleans. Its so amazing to know the bathroom is clean & small things are provided from tampons to cigarettes. The cocktails & shots were great! It would be nice if they had any Belgian style beer, but I made due with Miller lite. The musicians were great! It was a rotating cast & all were talented. Hubs & I had a quick overnight trip to SA. This was our evening entertainment & we were not disappointed!!
This bar is absolutely fun. I highly recommend for anyone visiting San Antonio Texas. Their talent on stage is astonishing!
I coordinated a client appreciation event for our company while we were in San Antonio for a conference. It was a great experience. The process of booking was really easy, and Whitney was always quick to respond. We were really impressed with all the branding they did for our company the evening of the event, including the custom wrap on the piano! The entertainment was really fun and several people stayed until it closed.Overall, it was a great night. The only negative, thats not really a big deal, is there is no food on-site, so you need to make arrangements with them ahead of time if needed.
This dueling piano chain has been in SA for so long that I’m not going to explain the concept. I’m sure there are PLENTY of other reviews that delve into that. I’ll just tell you that this place is an ABSOLUTE BLAST!They open at 6PM and charge a $10 cover charge and the performers start about 6:30pm. Drinks are $$$ - someone had a Margarita, and another had a Moscow Mule and they were $15 each (remember it is a tourist spot). There is a parking garage and a couple of surface parking lots close by.I was fortunate enough to attend with a friend who won a Happy Hour Package there. There are cards at the tables that you can fill out to enter to win one for yourself. I’m pretty sure if you fill out the card and give them your digits, you win, because my friend is just not that lucky (that’s right D, I’m talkin’ about you – LOL).The happy hour package let’s you invite an unlimited number of friends who get in for NO cover charge, each person gets two $1 drink tickets (but there are only a handful of drinks/beers to choose from with these tix – scroll to the end of this review if you want the deets), and an A-OK buffet of taquitos, nachos, chips and queso, etc. There must have been 6 or 8 performers that night (pianists, singers, guitar players, drummers) so they were able to rotate in and out all night long without a break in the entertainment. They were ALL top-notch entertainers.Everyone knows that you can put song requests in (and if you include a tip they will probably play it) but make sure you take advantage of what I call “The Mirror Tips.” You can tip them to write anything you want in shoe polish on the mirrors for all the world to see. It can be a silly statement, a congratulatory statement for a friend, or something to humiliate your friend (I chose the latter of course). The comment stays on the mirror until someone tips more than you paid to have it put up there. LOT’s of fun at this place – but pricey and crowded.I’ll stop rambling now and include the $1 happy hour party drink list as I promised above:Lonestar/Lonestar LightMiller LightCoors LightWell DrinksBarefoot Wines
Always an awesome time when I come here! Love how they do requests and have us singing all night. I really enjoy the large drinks they serve and the bar tenders are always prompt and friendly. Eat before going though as they don’t have a kitchen. If you want a good time this is definitely a good spot, especially if you have a group !
Fun fun fun! Love that you sometimes get passes to come back and enter VIP! Mixed drinks are too much and all sugar with no alcohol, but you dont need alcohol to have fun anyway. Cant wait to go back!
Fun spot. Bartenders are quick and friendly... Musicians are super talented. One sang that red bottoms song by cardi b and brought the roof down.
This place was packed. Live music that kept everyone entertained all night. Hard to order drinks cause only one bar.
Best howl at the Moon Ive been to out of 4 of them. Such a lively environment!
Had my friends surprise/last minute party there and she loved it. Would not stop thanking me for planning it their. Its ur tired of the clubs but still like to hangout this place downtown is the place to go.
Great place with great drinks!! Music and entertainment was really cool. Very crowded felt like a really small place but the service is worth it. Had a bucket drink dont recall the name but it was good cost @$30.
Drinks are little pricey but overall a great spot to hang out and sings some songs
Lots of fun! Great music and dancing. Get there early for a good table or reserve one for later.
Fun, large place. Talented performers. Didnt play either of my two songs. I tipped!!
Fun happy hour! Everyone enjoyed the dueling piano show! Loved their banter! Great music, drinks, and food!
Really had fun here. Staff was friendly and the musicians were jamming! Pretty packed for a weekday so prepare to stand.
Great place for group get togethers. The musicians are beyond talented. We had a great time.
We had a blast! The drinks were great, the music is always fabulous, and the ambiance is great! One thing. Bars close at 2am, they were closing down and getting everyone out at 1:45am.
This place is a cool piano bar. They play good music, and also a downstairs club to go to as well. Downfall about this place is they charge $10 bux to get in.
Fun place. Lets even better if you buy body shots for the girls to give to each other.
Always love this place. The music, and musicians throw a bit of comedy and this place rocks the house down. This is a staple of San Antonio and a definite must go if staying close to downtown.
We had fun while visiting the area at this place, but beware...the waiter who was all fun and games, brought us a $300 check for one round of drinks. He apologized, then brought a new bill for over a hundred dollars. I would not recommend the bucket drinks the waiters push on you. They must have cost over $30 each, and they were extremely sweet, I couldnt finished half of mine. A friend sent his back, but bill was still over a hundred for 5 drinks. Also my cousin got double billed and is checking I to that as she saw on her bank statement, and is checking into that.
Fun and interesting things they did. Band was good and engaging with crowd
Great place!! Wish they had a place like this back home!! Very entertaining and alot of fun!!
Made rail seating reservations with Justine...excellent customer service...we had a blast listening to a great variety of music! Our waitress Madison kept checking on us and made our anniversary so much special! Coming back again!
They hosted an afterparty for the Armstrong McCall Worlds Fair for a bunch of hairdressers and it was a blast! Good atmosphere and the entertainment was fabulous and fun! Had a blast ️
Really fun atmosphere, singing, dancing, lots of drink specials. Lots of music!! You can request songs & you can pay to get a message up on the mirrors behind the pianos.
This place was my favorite of all the bars we went to. The performers were SO talented and the atmosphere was awesome. We will definitely be going back!
My girlfriend and I had a great time. The music was amazing. The band members all play every instrument and sing great. At one point a guy that was helping clean and keep the place running smooth got up there and sang Georgia
Nice clubs, even Mondays are full of events and happening crowd. Live music was a plus
Great atmosphere and lots of talented musicians. We threw a few curveball requests at them and they made it fun and match the atmosphere.
I never cared for the dueling piano thing...but this is something else, and I mean that in a good way. High energy entertainment from some of the most talented musicians I have ever seen...the staff is on point, just like the the talent. Great place
Weve been here a few times. Musicians are always very good and talented, no complaint there. The place had good specials for drinks in the past. Now not so much. Normal drinks are $12, so the crowd is sitting sober watching the band and no one is dancing half of the night. The place used to be packed at 8 and the dancefloor was crowded with people.
I usually don’t come on here and complain but this place was the worst! And I tried to speak to management and all complaints fell on deaf ears! So my experience was I took my mother and sister to this piano bar. Granted we came on a Friday so there is a cover charge... fine whatever no problem $10 per person. Honestly, the best thing about this establishment was the bouncers! They were the most friendly people. Once we got upstairs we found a table to sit at. As we all know at a bar people are always trying to grab chairs, so I had my foot on a chair for my sister while she went to the bar. A server came to my table ripped the chair from under my foot, I said oh we have one more person with us. She told me, I need to straighten up the chairs, do you understand me? Followed with a dirty look. She proceeded to come up and place menus on the table and slam down the napkins looked at my mom and gave her a dirty look also. She came around again asked if we needed anything I gave her a smile and thumbs up said we are good thank you and she once again gave us a dirty look. At this point I’m beyond upset with paying $30 to get mistreated. We have only been in the bar for maybe 10 minutes!! So I went to complain to a manager. When I asked someone for the manager I again got attitude from yet another staff member. Told em I had a complaint. When I told the female manager what happened and how I should not pay $30 to be mistreated she smiled at me and said sorry I’ll get you another server. I said no we closed our tab and don’t want to spend another moment here and she said oh sorry just let me know if you decide to stay. So needless to say, spent money just to get mistreated and management could care less. I left upset and could have spent that money somewhere else with better staff on drinks. Please do yourself a favor and never come here.
Dueling pianos at its finest. The performers rotate through songs and instruments seamlessly!! Always have a smile on their face while singing with flawless voices and dance moves that kill!!! Plus you can drink out of buckets!
Nothing but great experiences here.
We had the best time of our lives here! The entertainment was superb! Staff was friendly and fun! Great place to have a great time!
So love going here, the female singer was great and they did a great job of keeping up with requests. I hate that they dont have food but you can use Uber eats or Postmates delivered and they let you bring in your food.
Always a fun time. Talented and entertaining musicians keep the crowd engaged.
If you’re looking for a great time with friends to sing and dance, go here!!! The dueling pianos are so cool and they play all the great songs and let you make requests!!! Such a great time!!!
Interesting place. Very pricey drinks. If you’re into cover bands then you’ll have a good time. Cute spot for a bachelorette party. This is definitely a gimmicky tourist spot, so expect to drop some money.
Great dueling piano band. The female singers voice is fantastic. Even on a monday night the place was decently filled.
Great bar, dance floor with live band most nights.
Gear Box VIP event nice end to PAX!!
Such a good time! Always laughing
Had a great time. The musicians are very multitalented and the staff is very attentive. Restrooms are very clean. If youre in San Antonio and dont go to Howl at the Moon, youre missing out. Awesome place.
Love it. Fun atmosphere great entertainment @
We had an awesome time... one of the better places to go on the River Walk.
Well its good. Musicians play more than just pianos. The comedy between them and the crowd is not as good as Austins dueling piano but this venue is quite larger. Great dance floor though! Great smoking patio overlooking a bend in the river walk. Clean bathrooms.
Amazing spot will definitely visit again... Had a great timev
Good drinks. Worst music at a piano bar ever. They pretend to play their instruments.
Freaking awesome! Great LIVE music, dancing, drinks and a freaking absolutely good time. Turn up!
Fun place. Drinks good. Could be better restrooms. But great views if river.
Fun night of singing and dancing with piano battles. Everyone in our group of 19 had great time.
A group of girl friends and I came to San Antonio just to come to Howl at the Moon and I was not disappointed. We arrived a little early to get our seats & loved that we were against the dance floor. The music was fantastic almost all night & we stayed dancing. Our waiter Eric was absolutely amazing. We were never without drinks & gave great advice on drink selection. I will most definitely be back!
Lots of fun and electricity in the place!! The drinks were also excellent, we got a fruit roll up that was great!!
Go early if you want a table. Music beer and cocktail on point
We had a great time here! All five of the musicians were quite talented and put on a fantastic show. The drinks were good and our server took good care of us. Well definitely be back.
