I used to shop at Hobby Lobby and Michaels but at Asel art I feel at home! They have so much to choose from. As a painter, they have everything and more that suits my needs! The staff is very friendly and helpful, also the prices are better than some of the stuff at other places I have shopped at. This is my go to place and I couldnt be happier! Ive been visiting this shop off and on for close to a decade for gifts for my sister, and recently to start my own inventory. They have always had spot on customer service and fantastic deals that were always helpful for a student wanting quality products. The staff are willing to go out of their way to make sure youre getting exactly what you nee, with my most recent experience involving them mixing colors to make sure I was getting the right shades for my project.I would give 20 stars of possible.

Best art supplies in town. Not for crafts so much...they cater to artists. Manager John is an encyclopedia of artists materials and techniques, and his staff always offers friendly and savvy service.

It amazes me how such a small store has whatever art supply I need. Yesterday I had a lovely selection of block inks to choose from. Today I wanted a silk screen kit, and they did not disappoint. Always great personal service there too. So blessed to have them in the neighborhood!

The selection was amazing and so were the prices, not to mention the great customer service! The man who helped me was sooo amazing! Once he found out I teach painting classes, he showed me every type of paint possible that could be used, thoroughly explained the differences between the brands, and even gave me a free tube of paint as a sample! I can not express how much I enjoyed my experience here and the knowledgeable artist.

I took my son by today to pick up his first sketch pad and pencils. Unfortunately, I didn’t get the gentleman’s name that helped up but he was a ball of energy. That made the visit so much fun and would highly recommend this store over any others in San Antonio.Keep up the great work!

They are clearly geared for students, and the prices reflect that assumption. However, they are pretty easy going about the student discount, so be sure to mention if you are a struggling independent artist. I love their variety of ink, pen and drawing utensils and especially that they are sold individually. I come here for the perfect pen when I need a specific job done. The paints are expensive but the brands are well chosen and sold individually by tube, same with brushes and ink supplies. The large canvases are well stocked and the dimensions arent just square and 5:3 rectangles, but some more interesting ones as well.I love coming here, but can never get more than a couple items with my budget. If you need standard things, go to the craft store with their weekly coupon. Come here knowing what you need in specific or high quality supplies. Unless you have $$, in which case have a blast!!

It has a nice degree of variety my mother enjoyed purchasing supplies here some are a bit pricy but many things are affordable but it depends on what you are looking for

In fact, I walked in for one thing and walked out with about 10. Friendly staff and though the prices are a bit higher than a super store, it was well worth it.

Went there for the first time today and to be honest I will never go anywhere else. This place has everything and the guy John is awesome. He has back story and history so your not just shopping. Love love love this store.

This store has a nice selection of Procion MX dyes. When Im on a deadline for a tie dye project, its nice to have a local source thats close to where I live.

There are some supplies one can get at asels that you cant get at big hobby stores, and the staff is always knowledgeable, helpful and can make you good deals.

We went in and were immediately greeted and helped. Received individual attention from the manager for almost an hour, helping us find the right pencils we needed. Im floored with how cool the staff was, and the selection was just what we needed. Go here if you have any need for any writing/drawing/painting/engineer drafting materials. Coming from a mostly-online shopper, Im coming back here instead.

Folks working here are super! Great Art Shop for artists on the northside! Friendly staff (mostly students and artists) and wide selection. They have great sales and will order something if its not in stock.

Nice shop. the workers their love art and have a good understanding of the suplies they sell. It wasnt we have this, but we have this this is how you use it to accomplish the look you described,and we also have this other product if you want to try it by using this other method.

Drove from Boerne and got there at 4:45. The sign says they close at 5. The stoners that work there wouldnt let us in. I guess its standard protocol to close before the hours at this store.
