YMCA opening after COVID.1. They are still charging the full membership price, but provide 1/7 (one seventh) services and less. They are only open 5 days a week with limited hours, but still charge the full price (like for 7 days, regular hours)Honest? No. Do we deserve that? Nope.2. I was only able to schedule to go swim once a week or 1 time per 2 week (instead 4-6 times), but still pay the full membership price. How just/fair is that? Is it normal to overcharge people for services that YMCA cant provide?3. People in the reception are not honest about air quality and air filters that installed in YMCA. During bad air quality times in September (PM2.5 >200mg/m3) they informed me that they have great air filters and air is fine inside for exercising, so all clients can safely exercise. But when I measured the air quality inside of the building with my air quality device, it shows me PM193 mg/m3. If you go exercise with such air quality, it can cost you your life. As simple as that. I wish that YMCA reception simply told us the truth, instead of such life endangerment. And how about people who dont have such air quality devices?...4. You can be kicked out of YMCA if outside will be rainy weather with lightning. Not a joke! YMCA staff asked us to leave the club asap, because they saw a lightning during rain outside. They forbid us to use showers and toilets. My dad is professor of nuclear physics and he laughed at it for a long time. But fact is a fact - you will get kicked out if there is a lightning outside. BTW - all other fitness centers are still open on the same time.5. Something is ALWAYS broken/not working at YMCA. Nobody cares to fix it.There is NO clod/warm water in the showers - scalding hot water pours from the tap. Got burned, asked staff to fix it. Not got fixed in 2+ month.6. Handicap door openers are also constantly broken7. Toilet flushers are broken and you always can enjoy the remains of the previous visitor.8. Last swim ends ONLY 5 min before YMCA is closes. There is no way you can get out of the swimming pool, take a shower, dry out, get dressed, gather all the stuff and leave the club in 5 min. So, YMCA staff will yell at you when you step over 5 min. Its humiliating!

If you get used to the Pro Sports Club - you will be shocked by YMCA.But YMCA is simply very budget gym. This is why they are institute many limitations, compare to the regular gym.Great kids swimming pool by the way! But only 1 adult and 1 kids (adults are also piling up there, so poor kids dont have enough space in the pool sometimes). When crowded, YMCA will not let you in the pool on the weekends (even if you are a member and payed money). Yes, its hard to believe, but they are asking for some kind of registration. Very low budget also reflecting on the holidays: when all people not working - they would like to spend time in the gym (YMCA). But YMCA will be closed to your surprise. So do not confuse the slogan YMCA for community with real actions. The main concern is the quantity of the shower rooms (expensive to build) and the sanitation. More precisely, its the absence of it(sanitation). YMCA asking clients to clean after themselves (little notes on the walls). Never saw cleaning people in this facility. So, it results in the a lot of hair, goo on shower walls and mold in the corners and bugs on the towels. But if you are taking shower at home after gym - then all is fine.Overall its ok for budget gym.

Judge for yourself:1. YMCA continue charging monthly fees after they close their doors and stop serving customers (due to COVID). Ask to return your money? Answer is No. They refuse to do it. Really honest behavior!2. Problem is to re-activate membership. Website is designed pretty badly and its not possible to re-activate the membership.Email to YMCA cust. service?YMCA customer service (by email) will will send you to the YMCA building/fitness. You go to YMCA building/office - they would say nothing we can do, please contact YMCA by emailConclusion:Impossible bureaucratic swamp indicates by the actions that YMCA didnt value their customers and community.ProClub, for example, is honest (didnt charge you monthly fees if they are closed) and easy to re-activate.Judge for yourself.

Swim lessons are great here and have worked well for me for which it gets 4 stars, the staff is friendly otherwise and the amenities are clean. Rush depends on the time. Some of the experiences have been pretty bad for me, especially with the staff near the swim area when I went for a swim and asked the same question twice to the one who was a lifeguard at that hour, she practically yelled at me...definitely no stars for that.

Review №13

I love the facility and the front desk staff. Also their camp programs are great. But go elsewhere for swim lessons. Their teenage instructors could care less about teaching your child how to swim. They rotate them every couple of weeks so your child will never have consistent instruction. Also they cram all the lessons they can into the pool, oftentimes three lessons happening in a single lane of a pool. Also after speaking with Dawn, the aquatics director the clearly care more about quantity than quality. I should have listened to the other Moms in Sammamish and gone elsewhere.

Review №14

They will not allow you to teach your own children to swim. They force floaties on kids even in the zero entry pool, even if you are with your kids and in the water with them. I guess they do this because they want to force the swimming lessons on you to make more money off you or the mostly teenage guard staff is incompetent. No other YMCA has this rule that I have ever seen. Go to Bellevue Y to teach your own kids or another company entirely.

Mixed feelings about our new membership here. My 8yr old daughter was so excited about the slide. Turns out that every time we come its closed... Even though the website says its supposed to be open. We are then told it depends on staffing... First time slide was actually open, she passes the swim test (shes a great swimmer) and has so much fun. Next time we come shes told shes not tall enough (literally a half inch too short) and is not allowed on the slide... Very disappointing. My 3 yr old loves to go to the play area though and enjoys the play pool. As for me I wish there were more classes that fit my schedule...

This gym is severely over priced and operations are not good.Cons:1. Small workout area, only one of each machine (about half the size of 24 hour, LA fitness, or Golds)2. No Sauna3. No steam room4. Indoor track is small, ton of laps just for a mile5. Closed entire gym for a week for maintenance (who decided on that??)6. Basically banking hours for this gym, closes early, closed on any holiday they can.For $40 (half the price) you can join 24 hour that has locations in every city, twice the work out area, big pool, sauna, steam room, classes, ect. Oh and they are open 24 hours and most holidays.

Facility is nice and always pretty clean. I have a five year old son who loves the Adventure zone the daycare here. My only complaint is the rude teenage staff members! My gosh especially the ones supervising the activity pool. I get there is rules but kids come here for fun and shouldnt be getting yelled at every five seconds. Not to mention the constant eye rolls and snotty attitudes from the girls. I will be changing gyms to one that hires happier staff members hopefully, and that I will be able to enjoy swimming during winter months with my son.

If you are looking for summer camp more than just a day care, dont waste money here. I register a life guard camp for my son. They obviously hire some teenages as coaches. These young coaches just enjoyed their own time and dont teach anything. The swimming pool for the class is very small. I sent an email and ymca never reply. Very disppointed.

Overall, would recommend based on my experience with this YMCA. They have everything a person needs/expects when coming to a gym and more. Many reviews here discuss their discomfort with pool hours and where all of this may be true, as an adult these discomforts are minimal, however the lane pool isnt very large. Nor is the workout area. Did love the fact that I was able to retreat into the track area to do workouts that didnt require machines! Thanks for all you do YMCA.

This place is closed for all public holidays, all snow days (irrespective of how much snow is on the ground), and close for a week. Essentially they are closed for about 3 weeks and you pay for all the 3 weeks. Plus it is very crowded, and noisy with indisciplined kids running around. Half the time cleaning towels are not in the cleaning bins and you will have to search for them. They take on an average three weeks to fix a broken in spite of escalations. Their bath and locker room is very basic - smelly sometimes. Half their members do not clean up after using the machines - so you will want to clean before and after. Only their front desk people seem nice and are unempowered. If you are looking for a real fitness center this is not it. Go to a professionally run fitness center like Golds, Proclub, or Colombia. This is what happens when you have a non-profit (a joke if you think about how the law is abused here) and a city government run this place. There is a reason why private enterprises thrive and provide better service.

This is a review for the childcare. The workers are usually nice and some are friendly. I hope though the two korean ladies(if im correct) who work there would be friendly. They are sometimes curt and unfriendly which I have no idea why. I know there are times people are having a bad day but gosh, they could use a few smiles and speak tactfully. Many times they wouldnt even greet and avoid eye contact. Otherwise, the facilities are great and very clean!! My kids love it!!

First of all, I love the staff working there. Every time they are friendly and helpful. The new facility look awesome but the swimming programs are significantly too small relative to general demand. For example, I was trying to register my child for a swimming program on registration opening day on Friday. The registration starts at 8 am, I got in a wait list at 8:03 am.Child care center which I can see through the window looks very interesting, clean and friendly. They have a bunch of fitness programs, which I tried just one of them and it was OK.Their equipment are all new and works great.Locker rooms are clean and you can get free towels. The view is breathtaking. When it wasnt rainy I took a bunch of pics of amazing sunsets there during the exercisesEvery Friday they have family night and my kid loves it.I understand that it was really hard to start running such a big facility. At the beginning not everything was perfect, but it getting better and better. It looks like they care and I can feel it. I continue my membership for YMCA without any doubt.

Best y around. Coal creek beats them in number and variety of classes offered but this place excels everywhere else. So much better!! We signed up through the Bellevue Y, but it was so chaotic that I felt like a bad mother every time I left my baby in childcare. This one is run so much better. Check in for childcare was seamless. The staff is friendly and seems knowledgeable. We loved the facility and the classes. I was able to look through a window and see my baby and she was actually being attend to. Bellevue my baby isn’t even taken out of her car seat. I saw people rocking her and later holding and talking to her. You have no idea how that matters as a mother. I’m very impressed with this facility.

I WOULD GIVE 0 STAR IF I COULD!!!This is the fifth time we were forced to not use the pool after we signed up for the membership. There were kindergarten event, then an elder event, church event..., when they happens, even when we were in the pool, we were forced to leave and chill in the cold air for an hour!As a paying member, I brought kids to the pool last Saturday for the fifth time in the past month. To our disappointment, they were holding yet another event of some birthday party. A staff told us that we were not allowed to swim in the kids pool, but in the lane swimming pool.Just a few minutes after we got into the water, another lifeguard came in and ordered us to leave with a very condescending attitude, as if we were not welcomed. She then threatened that she would call security to remove us. This is absolutely the rudest person Ive ever met in my adult life.AVOID THEM IF YOU CAN! I just cancelled my membership and will never come back.

As an adult you have every right to shush a child if their parents are not stepping up to the job!! It takes a village... leave a note at the desk if you have a need and it will be responded to asap. The facility is clean, attractive, and well staffed. Membership includes lockers, short term childcare, two pools, weights, various sports, and classes. However, it is so crowded every time I go I have to share a swimming lane, last time with 3 others. The kids pool is even worse, with waits up to an hour. Swim lesson registration was full the same day it opened. Half of the resistance machines are in use at a given time. For a new gym I would not have expected it to fill up so fast.

If this were my local Y, we wouldnt be members. Their swimming rules (Ill add a screenshot to the photos) are ridiculously restrictive. My son has been swimming independently since he could walk. At age 3 he could throw himself into the pool, right himself, and swim to the wall. I always swim with him. When we visited this Y, we were told he could only be in the (zero entry!) pool if he had a lifejacket on, so we complied and I swam with him as usual. He had a great time... but for six months after, refused to get into any swimming pool (including the one at our local Y where hed been swimming since infancy) without a lifejacket. It set him back a long way, and I was TICKED. We finally (a year later) have him back to being a competent swimmer (can swim 10ish yards, flip, and float on his back, plus retrieve objects from a couple feet under water) and I thought about taking him to this Y again, figuring he could pass their swim test. Not only do they make kids take the test in the cold pool if they want to swim in the warm one (this makes a big difference to a 4yo with 0% body fat), and not only is his otter shimmy/dog paddle-ish movement not acceptable for the test (crawl only... not many 4yos have the coordination to pull off a crawl), but all kids under age 5 are considered non-swimmers anyway, so it wouldnt matter. If you want a good place to work out, this might be fine. If you want a place for your tween/teen to swim, it might be okay. If you want to be able to actually spend time swimming with your younger child and hoping they gain water confidence, forget it.

Logistically, this is very inconvenient for people who cant make that extra trip.

I am disappointed with the swimming pool schedule, I have the same issue last year and gave up membership. Joined this year to see if it is better but this time is worst.Be assured if you are YMCA adult member you cannot use the swimming pool if that is part of your exercise. If you want to use swimming pool you need to give up your job and wait when the lap is free in the day time.I complained to every staff about the pool schedule that it is filled with some kind of activity as a member I cannot use it and emailed to YMCA director, no reply. The reply I got from two staff is to use the pool in the morning hours. I told I need to go for job during day time. Not helpful at all, waste of money....I gave up membership to find another Gym in Issaquah.

Love the meandering river. But the changing rooms for the disabled have several shortcomings. 1) shower stall infinitesimally small; impossible to assist a disabled in/out of the stall. 2) Shower system problematic: EITHER OR for the nozzle vs hand wand also makes it impossible to bathe a disabled person: cannot get wheelchair into the stall, the hand held doesnt have the reach to allow a caregiver to bathe a person IN a wheelchair--and a person IN a wheelchair cannot even access the handheld in any way shape or form! 3) the uneven slopes of the tile floors result in lakes that do not drain.Sorry, but the dressing rooms present enormous danger for disabled and staffed caregivers. We wont be returning.Beautiful facility but major major issues for anyone needing handicap support.

Before I go onto my rant, I want to say that this is a beautiful perfect facility for everyone, and MOST of the people working there are very nice and respectful. We are a family of six, recent members and are still adjusting to the YMCA schedule. My boys and I start out each time playing basketball to warm up before we hit the weights. It just happen that the 3 gyms were all reserved that evening, two for volleyball and one for aerobics. But one gym for volleyball was not being used and a lot of us (over 12 people) who wanted to play basketball. I went up to front desk and spoke to a very nice young man, Heysn, asking him to allow us to use the gym because no one is using the volleyball net. Keep in mind that I was not complaining about the schedule. All I asked was to let us use the empty gym. Some woman behind the counter rudely interrupted and said in an unpleasant tone, Were not gonna change the schedule just in case one person wants to play volleyball! I looked at her and walked away. In my experience with people like that, I learned to ignore them because the more you try to reason with them, the more unreasonable and stupid you look.Later I learned that her name is Melissa, the coordinator for the facility. I think shes doing a horrible job not facilitating the members, allowing an empty gym not to be use. You need someone that has a sense of good judgment and is not rude. And sure enough no one used the volleyball net all night. Yes, real smart coordinating! Id say give that coordinating job to that nice young man, Heysn! Sorry, one star for ruining our workout!
