Excellent instruction from Larry, excellent prices, and beginner friendly! We had a group of 6 people, 4 adults and 2 children (ages 8 and 7). With the exception of 2 of the adults having some sort of experience as children (basically, still beginners) everyone was a beginner. We opted for a private group lesson and Larry was our teacher. He was excellent with the kids and made sure to keep them involved with everything. He took time with each of us to go over things we needed to do to start with, and then again to help us improve. This was such a great experience and we all enjoyed learning archery and will definitely be back again!

My boyfriend came here to find some new arrows for his recurve (despite a phone interaction with a very rude man prior to arriving). The man there was extremely unhelpful, to the point of making you feel like you were wasting his time by asking questions. If youre looking for a friendly atmosphere and people willing to help you learn about archery equipment, take your money elsewhere.

The old guy behind the counter gives truly terrible customer service. I asked him to help me adjust something on my bow. He refused. As I struggled with it, the owner came over and asked me if I needed help. I told him I needed to adjust something, and he took me back over to the service area and told the guy to help me, which he did, and only took him about 30 seconds. This is just one example of the bad interactions Ive had with this guy. If you need work done on a bow dont come here.

Great range. Owner is very helpful. I paid for a one hour archery lesson and it was worth every penny! I learned so much. It moved me to buy a bow from them. If you’re looking to get into archery or if you were already into it this is the place to go.

My husband and I had been here a handful of times to rent equipment and shoot. Enjoyed it enough that we got our own equipment. I bought a compound bow, and since I had never shot one before, scheduled a lesson with Larry. The staff is certainly reserved, but not rude. Isaiah at the counter was incredibly helpful getting my bow set up for my draw length and strength while explaining each step of what he was doing and showing me how to make future adjustments myself. My first impression of Larry was that he was gruff, but that impression melted pretty quickly once the lesson began. Larry is a phenomenal teacher. Hes knowledgeable, but there are plenty of knowledgeable people who are terrible teachers. Larry is able to convey what he knows in a way that makes it accessible to someone with virtually no experience. Hes observant, patient, and kind. His teaching highlighted what I was doing right and expanded it rather than criticizing the mistakes Im sure I was making.Check out the wall around the cash register: you dont get that many commendations and thanks for your work with the youth paralympics if youre rude and dismissive.I rarely write reviews but was so surprised to see the negative comments about this place that I had to share my experience.

I really like the hours and the price. The staff is eager to ignore you. They aren’t rude, just distant. I usually prefer that to overly enthusiastic “can I help you?” types at the chains, but it is almost like you step up to the counter and need to clear your throat to get service. That said, it is a cheap range to practice at, and as the adage goes, quality, time or price - pick two. I keep coming back because it is very affordable and has a great location (once you find it).

If I could give this shop a zero I would. They have absolutely no knowledge of bow mechanics. First example is when I took my bow in to get tuned and they said I had a bent limb and my bow was no good. I took it to Wilde arrow and got a second opinion and they said it was fine and to go shoot it. Im shooting it accurately at 140 yards. Second example is when I was getting something as simple as a d loop replaced. I got my bow back and the d loop was half an inch longer than the one that was on there. I took it back and said he messed up and he tied another one on and it was the exact same. Wrong again. He informed me that it was impossible to tie a shorter d loop. That turned me off to that place for a long time until today Id thought Id go see if I could get my peep site switched out. I had purchased the peep site from them and was informed it would take a week for them to get to it. One week for a 5 min job?!? What a joke. I recommend nobody ever go here and tell everyone you know not to go here.

Called multiple times to reserve a group activity. I was repeatedly told to call back later, and speak with Larry. I called five or six times over a period of three days, but Larry was either busy or unavailable. We dropped in with our group anyway. The price is the best part of the range, but the gear is old and worn down, the ranges are mediocre, and the staff is standoffish. You wont be able to beat the price, but you get what you paid for, which is low quality.

My Wife, who was an Olympic hopeful in Archery went in to this store to have the poundage adjusted on a bow I had bought there years ago and to purchase arrows and a few other needed supplies. Not only did they not adjust the bow, they also refused to sell her arrows or anything else claiming that she didnt know what it was that she needed or that she was looking for. Not sure why they would assume this, if it was a gender thing or what, but with literally thousands of hours on the range my wife has an in depth knowledge of the equipment that she needs to shoot. For heavens sake she was a shooting sports instructor for three years! She was treated extremely poorly and was flat out refused service. Growing up in the area i was always a customer of Salt Lake Archery but after this i will never go back. This is no way to treat a customer!

I initially went here because it was convenient for a lunch break. Im glad I did! Im not sure what previous reviewers have meant about rudeness as the staff has always been pleasant and chill when Ive gone there. If you go during the day when its not busy, sometimes theyll come over and give you tips (not to mention you can sometimes have one of the range areas to yourself). They are very knowledgable about the sport and have good recommendations for equipment. I had some cheap-o beginners arrows I was using and they let me try out some better arrows. The difference in my shooting was astounding! I immediately purchased some better arrows. With the customer service I receive each time I go, I wouldnt go anywhere else. Also, Ive been to a few other ranges and a lot seem to be more hunter-focused. This one has a great mix for any type of archer, whether youre doing longbow, recurve, compound, whatever. Go here!

Just walked in to shoot for an hour. It was $11/person (including equipment rental) and we could have stayed for as long as we wanted (until close). The equipment we were given was nothing exciting, but acceptable. Although I indicated that we were complete novices, we were told they didnt have time to show us how to do anything, which I was a little surprised about-I want expecting formal lessons or anything, but just a quick, basic run-through would have been nice. The guy that gave the equipment to my kids (8 and 10) talked to them like they were 3 years old, which they seemed a little annoyed by, but whatever. The facility felt a bit ghetto, but it works and does what it needed to do.

The building is very hidden. At a glance, you wouldnt be able to notice that there is an archery place right in front of you because the sign is small and there are no windows or a door that looks like the front door. I couldnt believe my eyes that I have been walking past an archery place for years and not noticing it.When you walk in, there are a set of stairs. The whole place looks kind of sketchy when you first walk in, but afterwards it just looks kind of worn down. When you turn right, there is a little shop full of archery items. When you turn left, there are open shooting ranges. My boyfriend and I were so confused when we first got there because no one was there to help us and we had no idea where to go to rent a bow and arrow. There was one young person and one elderly person there to assist us. They werent busy, but it took them a while to help us as we waited by the counter. When one person finally noticed, we were given a bow and 3 arrows. He kind of explained how to shoot, but not very thoroughly. We paid (about $11 each) and gave us our targets. We walked to the other side of the building to find a spot for us and we took the right edge of the main shooting range. We had no idea how to properly shoot. As we kept shooting, we learned through trial and error, but I bet we still werent doing it correctly.I had always wanted to shoot a bow and arrow, but I didnt know about any place close to me that would give me this opportunity. The prices were great, but the service was terrible; however, I would not mind coming back here again because I enjoy shooting arrows so much and its cheap for an unlimited time on the range.

It is clear that the people that work their know their craft which makes it a shame that they are so poor at customer service. Over the past year, I have been into the store four different times and each time I have left feeling like I was a burden and that my questions were not appreciated. The range was the only range open tonight and I took my 12 and 15 year old sons. They recognized the terrible service and started making fun of it. Unfortunately I cannot recommend the store. Go somewhere they not only know their craft, they want to share it.

First off, if you drive a big truck, do not attempt to park near their store. It is in a very inconvenient place for sportsmen. When i walked in the store I felt like i was in a swap meet or a garage sale. The place is dirty, and unorganized. I walked back to the shop and looked at bows and other things for about 20 min. Not a single person acknowledged my existence the entire time i was there. Their shop is small, dirty, unorganized and over priced. I would not recommend this dump to anyone.

Id been in twice to get some arrows and have a couple of bows looked at. Like two of the other reviewers, I have to agree; they just treat you like youre bothering them. Not a very good experience at all. I went in today to rent a bow and shoot, but there wasnt anyone behind the counter, or shooting. There were two women sitting off in a corner near the range, but they made no move to engage me or offer any assistance. The place was dark and run down. I dont know why they even came to the counter they seem so bothered I was there. They didnt want to educate me as I am a beginner in archery and had no experience. How do you expect people to want to purchase from you or use your facilities if your not willing to educate them about you products and the sport.
