The most incompetent place I have ever been to for my pet. I would not recommend purchasing from this store! I would rather spend the same amount of money for products that work and are actually filled. They sold me an empty product and then closed early. I will never purchase from here again and save yourself the heartache as well.

The only reason I’m giving two stars is because there are a few really great, kind, educated employees in this store. I moved here about 7 months ago. Since learning that the store is locally owned, I’ve gone to Pet Fun for ALL my pet needs. “Shop locally owned”However, recently, things have gotten pretty bad. Rude staff, expired items, dying fish. It’s really sad. I hope things can turn around for the store. The employees have mentioned that the store is struggling and that “the fish department is going down hill, slowly but surely.” I understand that that can be hard. However, it doesn’t justify being rude and slacking off. I’ve always sucked up the extra cost to shop local. It just isn’t worth losing my money over their carelessness.

So happy I found this place after adopting two abandoned four-week-old kittens. They were having tummy troubles and eating their litter, and the staff directed me to the right food, suggested adding canned pumpkin to their diet, and gave me a non clumping kitten litter made from corn which is safe in case they eat it. Thanks Pet Fun! The caring and genuine customer service will keep me coming back.

I used Pet Funs website to order some chow for my hounds. I guess I ordered at just the right time because I thought I had to wait a few dayS but it actually came later that day. Nice and unexpected from a local store. The second time I ordered a nice lady called and said they didnt have the exact brand of treats but something similiar which was fine. I like that they reach out to make sure everything is ok before delivering.

Everytime I visit here gotta get things bc they have really good clothes for dogs and leash design. Im a fan.

Great selection of fish and decent prices, but the last couple of times I’ve gone they have not let customers into the aquarium room. One time I was told by an employee that they were cleaning tanks and customers made it impossible to finish, more recently an employee said they were putting newly acquired fish away and it would take a long time and customers made it impossible to finish. I’ve never seen a Petco or PetSmart do that. I understand needing to do maintenance and other tasks. But It’s a pet store, they should probably be selling pets whenever customers are looking to buy. Won’t be traveling from Monterey to Salinas for this store anymore.

The sales associate was extremely knowledgeable while helping me choose specific treats for my little fur babies who have gentle teeth, aling with treats for my big fur babies. Treats for ALL! The entire staff are friendly! Definitely one of my favorite pet store in Salinas.

Ok, wow. Prices are the best Ive seen on dog food (nearly $10 cheaper on my Taste of the Wild bag) and received my delivery the day after I ordered it. I live in Monterey so never made it out to the actual store until I heard they deliver now also. Thank you Pet Fun for truly being the best local pet store around!

I waited about 15 min to get help on the saltwater section!!! after the girl with glasses was so rude horrible customer service..I asked to get a fish she said they wore about to close and to come another time because she had to move couple rocks around she was nothing but laize

Great selection of fishes and greet selection of tanks and decor for the inside of the tank. The rocks for the tanks are half the price from pet smart so I would come here for them. They are 3.99 for the first size of the two sizes the carry while pet smart has it for 5.99. same size everything. Employees are quiet knowledgeable on the fishes and how to take care of them. My favorite place to shop for my pets.

I enjoy the customer service and the animals there thats why the 5 star rating. However, I do want to inform anyone whos thinking about purchasing LED lights for their aquarium to double check the color (since some dont mention what color LED lights they have on the packet) and DO NOT submerge it into water. If you do you will not get a refund. I learned that the hard way and Im a little sad by it but its ok things happen. I still recommend this store for purchasing needs.

The staff is really friendly and always ready to offer advise and recommendations. They have been really helpful in giving me advise on how to care for my first dog, and what kind of toys to use and things like that. plus i really like their fish section, its pretty cool.

On my first visit here a couple months ago, I asked about recommendations for switching my dogs food. I had done some research, but the woman kindly steered me in another direction. The woman seemed knowledgeable and recommended a food I hadnt heard of, but she swore by it. I tried it for a couple months and my dog didnt seem thrilled. Then come to find out, this is the ONLY store around that sells this particular food. I had specifically asked for something that was more readily available...Last week, I went in to get recommendations on a specific brand, after doing much more extensive research. The woman, a different one, was kind of rude right off the bat. I asked about the particular brand and she asked what I was feeding now. I then got lectured about trying all the options in my current brand. She then went on to provide her very strong bias towards a raw diet and the fact that my vet doesnt know what shes talking about. Well, I didnt ask about a raw diet. I asked about a specific brand. I didnt ask to get a rude, biased lecture about why I shouldnt choose this new brand, when her only back-up was that I should try other options in my current brand.The entire experience rubbed me the wrong way. I dont appreciate being recommended a food that they know they are the only local store that sells it - when I specifically asked for something readily available. I will not be going back. Two stars because of the selection of supplies. But the staff are a total and complete turn off. They wont be getting any more of my business.

Prices are a little high on some things but thats just what some businesses have to do to survive. Kristine and Shelly are a big help and very friendly. Sold sick fish that died an hour after purchased. I informed the salesperson the fish appeared to be swimming wierd, they stated it happens when they are removed from tank. Made no effort to replace fish or refund........Never returning to this store......

We usually prefer to support the little guy. We like supporting local...usually. In this case we recommend you spend your hard earned money anywhere else. We recommend the feed store or Petsmart or Walmart all 3 are nearby. All 3 have just as much service without a smile you can find here. The thing you cant get here though are the low prices that usually accompany terrible customer service. Hey, if youre looking to help yourself when you go to a store, why not at least get cheap prices? Its been our unpleasant experience several times over 2 years now and Pet Fun At Harden Ranch takes the cake when it comes to service. Great store, they have a great selection of saltwater and freshwater, especially Cichlids. Their fish and aquariums are well maintained and taken care of. It definatly shows in the animals and the overall experience. Will definatly continue to shop here and support pet stores that are quality and have high standards.

Its not a PetSmart or a PetCo, which can be good or bad depending on the person, but I definitely see it as a more 1-to-1 experience when shopping for my dog. Overall great place!

I appreciate good customer service and a knowledgeable staff, and thats what you get at Pet Fun! I went in expecting bad service and an employee who was more interested in their next break (like Petsmart), than providing a comprehensive and great understanding of what I was looking for. If I didnt give a rip about the health of my animals, Id shop at PetSmart or Walmart. But I believe in preventative maintenance. Good food in, happy healthy pet in the long run! Less Vet bills!!
