Gorgeous bit of history, still meeting the needs and wants of the community. Relevant theater, fantastic concerts - worth going to for any memorable event!
Absolutely amazing place for all people of every group. Take your spouse or the whole family. Enjoy a night with a group of friends taking in all the culture and beauty thats litterly coming out of the walls. Its like a fine wine in the sense its only gotten better with age. Add a little love, life, and laughter. You have the recipe for master pieces being created and reproduced. Please take the time to support this local diamond downtown Salem and you wont soon forget it.
I feel like this is an email a year to late I just wanted to express my love to this theatre and how nice they treat their cast! I enjoyed being Ralphie so much I just wish I could’ve done it at least one more year!
Treated Debbie, my wife, to surprise VIP Meet and Greet, Front Row Seats to John Tesh Concert. The Historic Elsinore Theater is a beautifully restored Salem Landmark. So much history abounds in this Theater. The acoustics inside the theater is outstanding. The show was impressive, John Tesh and his crew entertained us nearly 3 hours after the pre-show Meet and Greet was over. His crew included his son telling jokes and playing the Ukulele, his daughter danced ballet to selected music. Wonderful evening, if you ever have an opportunity to visit The Historic Elsinore Theater take it, you will not be disappointed!
Went to see a great show the Christmas story. However i found it extremely hard to enjoy the show with the amount of pain i was in from the seats. The seats were small and very close together with little leg room. So for this reason i will not be returning to another show at this theater. Update the seating!
My family watched A Christmas Story at Elsinore Theater. The venue is beautiful and the performance was amazing. The actors were top notch. The orchestra was great. It was fantastic for the whole family.
Beautiful building meticulously preserved in its 1920s style. Great acoustics, cheerful and super-efficient staff, very reasonable prices. Ill definitely see something at the Elsinore every time Im in Salem.
We visited tonight to see Richard Marx. Hands down the most memorable concert and venue well probably ever have the pleasure of experiencing. It was very emotional for my husband because Richard Marx music got him through some very dark times during his young adult years. Elsinore theatre is beautiful. The sound is amazing. The hosts make it even better! What a wonderful time!
I love Elsinore Theater. It is a palace absolutely gorgeous inside. Just to walk in this theater is worth the price of admission. They also have a great variety of shows to see.
Went to the Pentacles Cinderella, perfect setting for a classic. Seating and post show meet and greet well organized and accessible without prolonged waiting. Lots of seats... good for a fundraiser and good for patrons!
Had a great time at the Jay and Silent Bob Reboot Roadshow. The Elsinore is an honestly beautiful venue and I was blow away by the architecture. However, the audio was not very good for the movie or the Q&A session which was 100% the reason I was there. I understand a movie isnt what the theatre was built for, but it was still disappointing.
The Elsinore theater is a fantastic asset to Salem Oregon. Im impressed at how well it has evolved over the years into a first-class venue. its a great place for comedy shows as well as other smaller gatherings. its not really the kind of place that allows for much dancing because it has theater seating. It is close too many really good restaurants in downtown Salem. parking is a bit of a challenge as its on streets and an empty parking lots that are normally used during the daytime like at the bank nearby, but you really have to watch the signs and the time so that you dont get nasty parking tickets.
This theater is so beautifully maintained. The staff were all so friendly and extremely helpful. Cant wait to go again!
One of the most beautiful theatres in existence. A true hold over from days when ornate architecture was more than steel and glass. From the comfortable seating to the three register organ, this magnificent beauty is always a memorable affair.
A wonderful old theater. Take the tour its well worth it. We saw a concert there last night. Just a perfect time
This is a lovely restored theater. The interior is beautiful and all of the seats seem to have a good view of the stage. The seats could be a bit more comfortable and there are no elevators. The concession has some good alternatives like dried fruit and nuts. Overall a great experience.
Super cool lobby and fixtures. Lots of seats and big auditorium. Only pitfall was older blown out seats in balcony, dont know about downstairs. But still totally awesome spot. Will be back. Your can feel the history it is wonderful.
Had a great time listening to Michael Jr.,comedian. Staff were great helping me to my seat. This was a fundraiser for Gospel Union. Pam Propes
The Elsinore is quite unique in its décor beautifully done on the restoration and we enjoyed the show I have to say the seating is not the most comfortable whether youre any place except in the mezzanine then its really nice and comfortable but nonetheless we were 7 rows from the stage and I was very happy and we had a great time I would see them do another concert there and go
There theater is very beautiful and I enjoy just looking at it. The seats are pretty uncomfortable and there isnt a lot of legroom (at least on the main floor, in my opinion). There really isnt a bad seat to see the stage. If you are with anyone who has difficulty walking you need to stay on the main level as there is no elevator and the upper levels have a lot of stairs. Definitely a fun place to go!
Better than I expected. An elegant building that retains its antiquity while having updated modern amenities. The Elsinore balances the two very well without overshadowing the other. The concession prices for water and soda are very reasonable. Alcohol is another story, but overall a good place to watch a show.
While the concert I attended was not great, the venue is very nice. Restored old building with good sound and sight lines. Would certainly look for an opportunity to attend another event here.
Great old architecture... Good natural sound in auditorium... Old building smell can be charming .. Or not.
Watched a wonderful production of the Little Mermaid from Pentacle theatre. A little confusing when you wait for your tickets at will call- but worth it. A beautiful theatre, vintage seating(snug& not stadium for us short people) once you get past that, its quite charming and elegant. Staff volunteers were very helpful and very kind! Forgot to take a photo of the lovely details of the stage- but this is us enjoying the atmosphere before the show!
Went & saw the new Jay and Silent Bob Reboot, had a great time! (Seats are not that comfortable).I also wish they booked big acts (at all?) More often!
Unique architecture, beautiful time period details inside, very clean, good sound system. Wheelchair accessible area located on main level, balconies and restrooms are accessible by stairs only. Seats could use to be updated.
Enjoyed the friendly staff and wonderful old movie we saw tonight. Great to see the classic films on the big screen!
Amazing old theater with a plethora of different plays, old movie screenings and musical performances. I love coming here to watch both the old westerns and my little brother in tuba Christmas! Definitely a fantastic place to check out and I would recommend it for all ages!
Beautiful theater. Only complaint was the distraction of letting in latecomers who stood in the aisle having a conversation with the chaperone flashing her light around during the performace. Show up early and respect others time.
Pretty nice place. Easy and quick to get into. Similar vibe to the Schnitz in Portland, but smaller and less crowded.
Beautiful but gets really hot when its crowded.
Beautiful old theater.. But NO elevator. If the bathroom is down a flight of stairs you have no way to get to it if you are limited in your abilities! It made a fun night out an embarrassment. $48.00 just to be made to feel infuriated!
Watch my son dance performance here, chairs were decently comfortable and well placed to see the stage.
By far the place Ive ever seen a concert. First class is all I can say. Oh by the way Richard Marx rocked the house.
Great old place, with outstanding features. Seating is ok, and at a angle so can view stage pretty good from any seat. The sound is great. Good place for concerts.
Love coming to State festivals and other events here. Oldest theater in Salem!
I love this historic building and how they have kept it alive and ongoing so you can still see performances on their stage what what it was like back in the old days you can see tribute bands and magic shows and you cant even see black and white films there on on occasion
We have come here for several events including the Nutcracker ballet and 3 Doors Down acoustic... I love this place as Ive been going to it since I was a little girl and Ive enjoyed bringing my kids and family to these cute events. The staff is always so kind and helpful elder folks who are a joy. I support this place! Many great memories.
Very pretty theater. Decent neighborhood. Street parking pretty easy to find. 2 to 8 minute walk depending on how far away you park. Almost every seat offers a decent view because of the theaters small size. 4 stars because seating can be a bit tight and slightly uncomfortable. Not a deal breaker though.
The Elsinore Theatre is beaitiful and larger than it looks from the front! The comedian Michael Jr was very good!
Been here twice and Im convinced that every seat is the perfect seat.
The facilities are well taken care of and the staff are amazing. If you are looking for a place to host your show in salem look no further!Ive worked with the staff there over the past decade and have had nothing but good experiences. The Technical Director Greg is top notch!
Great atmosphere and architecture. I was married in the foyer. Nice staff
I really love this little theater. Very intimate and well appointed. Great acoustics too.
I am so thankful to have a facility like this in Salem... lots of history and just a great venue for a show.
I saw Michael JR there tonight. It was awesome
Beautiful historic theater, comfortable seats, and you can take wine into the auditorium while you watch the show.
Ryan Hamilton was fantastic! Extremely funny.Alex Falcone opened and he was so good, funny and got the crowd warmed up!
Great theater. Not a bad seat anywhere you choose. It was my first time there and really enjoyed the Taste of Spain. The dancers were terrific. I would love to see a play or a concert there.
We watched the Little Mermaid and the experience was great. Plus, you can drink wine inside which was a plus
A well kept historical theater. A must see in a tour of downtown Salem. So many options for shows as they have plays and movies and comedy shows and much more. You can even stop by for a quick look around. Takes you back to the olden days
Beautiful place! Cant wait to have our first event here! #NONO Night
Had a great time seeing Robert Cray! Beautiful theater.
I went to the pump or dump show, which was awesome! The theater itself is really cool and there are alot of interesting things to look at. I think it opened in the 1920s and architecturally is really cool.
Beautiful, historic building with gorgeous ceilings. Saw Rocky Horror Picture Show and it was fantastic.
Fun theater with good seating and good acoustics. Always something to watch here.
Love that when restoring they kept to the colors and theme of the original so closely. Beautiful theater! Small and intimate yet all the sound of the bigger venues!
I went to the George lopez concert. I had balcony seats and they were old and sticky. The seats and floor had so many stains on it. George brought with him one comedian and he was mediocre. Im AA and he would have been booed by my audience. George was funny. I doubt Id go back. Everyone was recording, the staff was to busy watching the show to notice. George made several references to the latino community but the AA community was there supporting hun too, no shout outside for us. Just my 2 cents
I absolutely love this place. It is one of my favorite interior spaces. It has a semi-medieval vibe, dark and mysterious. Watching any performance here enhances the experience. Dont miss it.
Beautiful and historic! I love seeing shows here.
A Beautiful Venue for Fans of the Foul Mouthed and Vertical Veiw Challanged. Good job Salem in keeping this place alive and wonderful. Snoogians.
I didnt go into this theater but it has a cool history. It was built in 1926 and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1994. It is supposed to look like the Kronborg Castle in Denmark. Taken from the Shakespeare play Hamlet.
Very nice venue. Attentive staff. Will definitely be back.
A beautiful place. Being a historic venue the seating is very narrow and rather uncomfortable. This is totally understandable and a sign of the times when it was built, I would only remove a fraction of a star for this if possible.
Beautiful theater, perfect seat all around for an awesome Richard Marxs concert on 10/8/19.
Omg. Richard Marx put on the best show id ever seen, and Ive seen Paul McCartney 3x loved it
We have a High School Graduation at the Elsinire Theater every year. It is such a lovely venue, it makes our graduation the best in the city. The staff is so helpful, they take good care of us. Such a special place for such a special occasion.
Nice venue, enjoyed seeing squeeze
A very nice piece of history in salem. The seats are plain horrible, unless in the mezzinene. Friendly, curtious staff.
Went to see a concert here not long ago. Very nice location. Excellent sound. Rows were a little tight for my liking, leaving my knees pressed against the seat in front of me. But I am a couple inches over 6ft so Im somewhat used to it. Only other complaint was that the staff was letting people use their phones the whole show. The lady next to me was filming half the time. VERY DISTRACTING. Really annoying to be trying to watch a show and seeing all these phone lights all around me. Might as well just turn on all the lights in the room. A huge portion of the concert was spent with a bright blue phone light sitting in the seat next to me. Not cool. Still overall...a good concert. A good location with an ok seating layout and quality sound.
Amazing! Just saw my friends in the production of Cinderella!
Classic intimate theater where there is no bad seat and the volunteer staff is fantastic and helpful.
I love the fact that this is a small venue and ticket prices are very reasonable. However they really need to update the seating it is cramped and not super comfortable. If your a large or tall person prepare to not be comfortable. I do like the variety of showes they offer and like I stated before ticket prices are very reasonable! Will for sure take in another show there
I’m not sure if it was the theater or the sound team, but I recently saw Dwight Yoakam and the sound was terrible upstairs and down... he did such a great performance but the sound for him and the opening band was very poor. Others confirmed the same after the show. I was bummed after spending $111.00 and driving from Portland...
This place is beautiful and majestic. Any chance I get to come here I will.
What a beautiful theater. It is the fantasy of escape.
Salem’s premier venue for performances arts and live music, located downtown within walking distance of an assortment of bars and restaurants. Well maintained and adorned, the theater it’s self is beautiful, with balconies and row seating in front from of the stage. During my last visit, the Elsinore was not kitted out well for concessions or merchandise for acts appearing at the theatre, with make shift tables to facilitate these services, which does take away from the experience. Overall a pleasant experience in one of Salem’s staple locations.
Absolutely beautiful craftsmanship in this building. Cant wait to return for a play!
Unfortunately, the website isnt that helpful if you want any information on the historic aspects of the theatre which is a huge disappointment because it is a wonderfully historic building. The tickets offered here are not always the only tickets available for shows, such as Pentacle Theatre, so its sometimes best to check out other avenues for tickets to performances. However, it is a gorgeous theatre with beautiful acoustics.
Very elegant theater! The chair were a little uncomfortable..
Attended the Tuba Spectacular. Ive always wanted to go, but my work life has never allowed it. I was not disappointed. It really helps get the audience in the Christmas spirit. Conductor Skelton took the technical difficulties in stride and used it to add some humor. Jeff Witt has such an amazing voice, and always had phenomenal performances. Hope to make this an annual family tradition.
Still a decent place. Not a movie theater like it once was, but they host many events there now.
Nice place. Upper balcomy is perfect. We saw Colin Hay.
ECHS AND TPP held their commencement at the Elsinore. Beautiful venue, lovely graduation. The best part had to be that someone played the organ. Id never heard Pomp & Circumstance played on an organ. Lovely
