Its a neat little store with a large selection of camping and fishing and some food items. We rented a pontoon boat from them for four hours and that was cool. We had a great time out on the lake where we found all the named waterfalls. Great day. The only bummer was the stereo didnt work. We had a picnic lunch floating around and the radio would have been nice.

We had an absolutely wonderful time renting a ski boat. We took my son out skiing for the very first time and he’s almost 19 years old. The lake was absolutely perfect and the best part was dealing with Kylie who was an amazing, super customer service oriented and just a pleasure to work with young lady. We had the whole lake almost to ourselves. The mountains and the water were breathtaking. We will be back from Florida again. Thank you so much.

I had two great experiences renting a Pontoon at their place. We came a little late the second time and they simply offered us to adjust the starting time accordingly so that we would get the full 8 hours. Employees are very nice.Pontoons run well eventhough the first one we had was pretty old and the second one had hundreds of small ants in one of the storage cabinets... That was pretty gross.

Kelly was delightful. The pontoon she provided for my family was absolutely perfect. Having owned many vessels of all sizes, including a half dozen (or so) pontoons, this boat was impeccable.The crew delivered the boat to my dock (for a reasonable fee), provided a thorough overview of proper operation with equipment checks. They gave me great advice on where to go and, importantly, what to look-out for around the waterfalls we were visiting. Their information was spot-on and very helpful.Ive spent my entire life on lakes (LOVE THEM) and Jocassee was the gem Id always seemed to miss. Ive heard about it all my life by never seemed to work it out. What a beautiful place! I strongly recommend it for anyone who loves unspoiled nature and unparalleled scenery.Jocassee Outdoor Center gets my top rating because they know what they are doing. They rented us a boat rental that had a prior customer complaint (we weren’t aware at the time). While we were on the water the boat broke down due to the issue the last people complained about. We were stuck in open water with no service and no information on board anywhere of how to contact the office for help. After having to be towed back we were told we wouldn’t be charged for the full day. Then received a phone call from their mechanic saying we had to pay in full along with parts for the boat THAT WE DIDN’T BREAK. Instead of them charging for the $25 part that was needed we were charged $170 for a whole new prop. There was nothing wrong with the prop. Seems like they just wanted to make an extra dollar. If you rent from them take pictures of everything and inspect the boat prior to being dropped in the water. Same as a car rental. I can’t stand being taken advantage of... ESPECIALLY on vacation! Also the firewood they sell is IMPOSSIBLE to burn. We wasted $50 on that as well.Side note: Maurice was great! Thanks again for towing us in.

Amazing day on the lake. The staff made our rental experience easy. A quick shuttle to the dock by a friendly driver who was right on time for departure and pickup. The boat was ready to go just as they said and the retail shop had all you could need or want. We absolutely will go back!

Rented a regular and premium boat this summer - definitely nicer experience in the new boat. The pick up / drop off was really smooth, and easy to get in the lake and have a great day on the water.

Our son, Clay, graduated from Clemson 3 years ago .... his oldest sister suggested we rent a pontoon boat following the graduation ceremony and spend the day on the Lake Jocassee .... we packed coolers full of sandwiches from Publix and all sorts of cold drinks and set out on the water with EVERYONE in our family. The owner and her staff (of this business) could not have been more gracious and accommodating to us .... the water was cool, clear .... the natural beauty and fauna breathtaking .... this experience was so appreciated by everyone!!! I took my 4-year old daughter to Lake Jocassee for her first camping trip. On the boat ramp I was accosted by an employee of Jocassee Outdoor Center. He hurled racial comments at me and was incredibly vulgar in front of my child. All because I took me 3-5 minutes to load everything on my boat at the ramp. He threatened to turn me into DNR for blocking the ramp and said he would F me up in front of my child. He also stated Where we come from we dont take kindly to your type. I emailed the manager and didnt hear back many days. After finally tracking the manager down she said the employee had another story of the encounter (imagine that). I can assure you a dad with their 4-year old daughter isnt the instigator. I simply wanted to take my kid camping. My daughter is now scarred from the encounter. I would not use this company. There are many other options in the area to consider.

This was our first time renting a pontoon and we had a fantastic experience with JOC. We had a large group on a very busy weekend and they still gave us lots of a personal attention and went out of their way to accommodate us. I was really impressed by their organized And friendly approach to dealing with the crowds and chaos of a big summer weekend at jocassee. We ended up getting out a little late and they let us keep the boat for extra time. They were very easy to deal with by phone as well and their were no surprises or unexpected fees. The 2 boats we rented were well maintained and fun. Everyone enjoyed it immensely and wants to go again soon.

Way to over priced. They were supposed to give us a full tank of gas so we would have enough for the whole day but they didn’t we ran out of gas within 3 hours and then the lady at the doc was very rude and then refused to fill up the boat we had rented for 8 hours.i will never use this company again.

Professional, courteous, staff with nice boats. They were a little late getting our boat in the water due to parties in front of us but told us to keep the boat an extra half hour to make up for it.

Their firewood isnt the greatest, needs to cure longer. Took forever to get going.

For an out of the way place, they had some interesting stuff. We had some subs there, and for what they were, we really like the food.

Rented Maxxum in late June. Last minute rental and still everything went smooth and perfect. The boat was great, the stuff was nice, made a real memorable experience. We will repeat in Aug when we will be back in SC.

Has your essentials but you pay for the convenience. Gas is ethanol free but expensive (as it is everywhere). They have souvenirs that are better than the state park has. Employees are very friendly and welcoming!

Our family camped at Lake Jocassee for the first time during the week of July 4th and a main highlight was definitely renting a ski boat for the day from Jocassee Outdoor Center! Kelly and the staff were great and went above and beyond to ensure we were well taken care of during one of their busiest times of the year. Located close to the state park and the launching dock, it was convenient and we had an absolute blast on the water. I highly recommend checking them out if you are going to be in the Jocassee area. We will definitely be back!

Great store!! Great selection of things you need or may have run out of, and then some.The boat rentals are fantastic. Price is great for a full day on the water, and although fuel is not included our 25 pontoon boat for the day only added $30 to the bill.They deliver the boat to the landing, and you drive away! Then just tie it up when you return. Very easy process.Friendly, and helpful staff!!

This place is on the way to Devils Fork Park and it is Awesome, outdoor and camping gear the general store part has some of the coolest stuff.. crickets in several flavors if your bold enough, they rent boats and kayaks, the lady that runs it and the people there are some of the nicest most helpful you could ever hope to meet, if you rent a boat they will take you to the park then pick you up when your done, stop here on your way to the park they will make your day at the lake even better

I decided to go into this business and when entering I witnessed two people being treated badly from the woman behind the counter. Apparently one of the men had his parents waiting on him with his boat. He was told he could not go in because the park was full no parking spaces available. They were driven by someone else to be dropped off. A good Samaritan who had rented from them was given a pass to enter, asked if the two men could ride with them...the lady very RUDELY said no to the man who had asked. I observed the man with his parents waiting ask if could he rent something she said we have nothing availability, then changed her story and offered him to rent a pontoon boat and he would get a pass to enter. It seem to me his parents would have told the woman that they were expecting and had the body count added. Why try to rent them a boat? They had one already waiting. I would not recommend this place to anyone. I have read the reviews below, a day early and saw a review by the person who was turned away. It has been deleted. Interesting, but apparently according to the reviews that has been posted in the past....this has happened before. What did I do? I turned around and left. Would not give them a dime because of the way this woman decided to treat this man.

We rented the pontoon Memorial Day weekend for 8 hours. The boat was over an hour late to the dock, but Kelly allowed us to stay out till 7. We had a blast. The boat was in great shape. Lots of things to do and sights to see on jocasse. We will be returning and renting another pontoon soon! Thanks again Kelly!

We had a great day at Lake Jocassee on a pontoon boat we rented from Jocassee Outdoor Center. Everyone at Jocassee Outdoor Center was friendly and helpful. The boat was in good condition and ran perfectly all day. They made it super easy by having it in the water ready to go when we arrived. All we had to do was hop on the boat and enjoy our day.

Zero stars! The experience was extremely disappointing. Parked the boat next to the shoreline and were met by the owner crawling through the forest falsely accusing us of having a infant on the boat! Lies!! who than confiscated our boat and threatened to call the police! Jumped on the boat and drove us with our small children to his dock without our consent. And arguably demanded we get out the boat without a refund. In addition, we tried to resolve the problem with the owners who refused to communicate with us.In respond to the owners comments. You once again are lieing, you have ultimately no proof of us sneaking anyone on board. We parked the boat on shore so that the father of the child can help his wife with a crying child. The owner has no valid proof of anyone being on boat other than the ones that were supposed to be there. His assumptions and actions proof othewise than safety and respect for his customers!

I have to say this is one of the cleanest lakes I have ever been too.there nothink wrong I can say about this state park, very well run by professional staff and park rangers in this place, understanding kind and there is no bad behavior with anyone running this state park.I give this park great remarks.deseves extra state money for there professional way of running this state park,

My family and I frequent lake Jocassee. In the summer we visit almost every weekend and share the public dock with ALL of the rental companies. JOC is our favorite company at the dock because the staff are always courteous and helpful even if you’re not their customer. Ex. letting us walk through their boat to access ours when the dock is full or offering to move a boat so we can have their spot.On an entirely different note..I rented a pontoon boat on the spur of the moment this week to take a great group of kids to see the many sites of Jocassee. Kelly was amazing! She was so accommodating and easy to work with! This family is a staple in our community and they offer top notch services!Out of all the rental companies that service Lake Jocassee the JOC is by far the best!

Pretty cool place to rent some kayaks. Kelly was knowledgeable of the park and quite helpful in tips of how to get started for two beginners new to kayaking. The kayak was sturdy, strong and clean and we had a great time on the lake.

We recently rented a pontoon boat from Jocassee Outdoor Center and I cant say enough great things about our experience renting from them. Their staff at the store location as well as the gentleman on the dock were all extremely helpful! Their prices were very reasonable and the boat we received was in great condition. Kelly was fantastic to work with and her knowledge of the lake was very helpful specially when we were searching for the water falls. This lake is gorgeous and we will definitely be back to rent again from Jocassee Outdoor Center.

Have everything you need in a pinch.

Excellent customer service. We pulled up in need of gas for our boat not realizing the store had been closed for 20 minutes. The owner came out with a smile and asked to wait a moment and she would turn the pumps back on. We were able to fuel up and get a few things from inside even though it was after hours. Went back for lunch the next day and had excellent service again. Make sure you get a homemade peanut butter milkshake with crumbled vanilla wafers!!! Awesome!!! ;-)

The manager and owner made great efforts to listen to our concerns and issues with an initial incident and went out of their way to address the issue and made a complete turn around on our impression. Especially Kelly, the manager let me feel that they do care about their business and what the customer think, that is essential for a businesss success and I think these people got it, as a result I have edited my review after a second try with them and hope this will continue to be a nice and friendly business to everyone!

Cannot say enough about the extrodinary experience with these folks yesterday renting a boat for a great day on Jocassee. Kelly and the entire team were really top notch. Friendliness and the right attidues really do make the difference. No issues with the entire process. Ive rented from other companies and this was the nicest boat Ive had, and with a 115hp engine! Professional, courteous, very welcoming staff. Lunch was delicious. (Hotdogs) The peanut butter shake is phenomenal.

Our day started out about 4 hours away and included a 3hr tubing trip. Long story short,my 10yr old and 7 yr old, along with myself ended up at JOC 30 min after they had closed. Kelly (manager) opens the door to help us with no hesitation. She was very helpful!

Very nice staff. If the parking is full at the park, they’ll even shuttle you in and pick you up at no charge. Kayak rentals were $45 for each person for the entire day. Totally worth it!

Me and my wife went to the lake for a vacation and the people here were amazing!! Great tackle variety and great hikin gear aswell! Nice selection of pretty much everything! I will say you must get the bear poop milkshake!!!! It was so good. Only for chocolate lovers! All in all this place was a picture perfect establishment in the mountains! WE WILL BE BACK!!

I have rented a pontoon and a ski boat from here. They always have fast service and answer the phone. They may not be the cheapest place to rent from but the extra you may pay is WELL WORTH IT!

They were was fantastic. I originally rented a pontoon boat for 6 days. After the first day I decided to switch to a motor boat because the kids wanted some more speed for tubing. Kelly switched the boat the very next morning. I also ran out of gas on the way to drop the boat off on the sixth day. Kelly sent 2 of her guys to tow me in. They gave me the right amount of deserving jabs:). I highly recommend them and will use them the next time Im at Lake Keowee.

This past weekend was the second year in a row that our company has rented two pontoons to spend a day on Jocassee. The lake itself is gorgeous, which makes for a nice day.The staff at Jocassee Outdoor Center were super helpful. They sent the forms for us to fill out ahead of time, which made check-in a breeze. The boats were well equip. We realized after getting out on the water that one of the pontoons did not have a rope for towing a tube. A quick call to the office and the guys met us at the dock with the part we needed.Well definitely use Jocassee Outdoor Center again!

We have had the most terrible experience with Jocassee Outdoor Center. We have rented from them twice. The first time, we showed up and they told us our boat was ready and waiting with the keys in it. We got down to the boat ramp and there was no boat. Apparently someone else hopped in and took off. The employees were in no particular hurry to help us with the situation, but they did eventually show up with another boat for us.Our second time, shame on us, was this past weekend for Labor Day. We brought our children and parents to enjoy a day on the lake. About mid-afternoon, we heard a loud thump and water splashed everywhere. We were in the middle of the lake, with no trees, etc, around. The motor was turned on its side. We waited for someone to come help us. When Jonathan arrived, he said, You must have hit something, but we have insurance so dont worry about it. He then towed us in.I received a call from them the next day letting me know we were going to have to pay for the damage. We discussed this with the owner and we were told that he would see what the damages would cost. We are reasonable people, and although we feel like we did not do anything wrong, were willing to work something out with him.I woke up this morning and over $850 of unauthorized charges have been put on my debit card. No contact from anyone at Jocassee, no one calling to discuss it with us, no one calling to get permission to charge our debit card.Needless to say, we have contacted our attorney.DO NO RENT FROM THIS PLACE.

KELLY IS THE QUEEN! A couple of months ago, I called in the middle of the day to schedule a rental, and they were swamped and she said she would call me back. Five rolled around, six rolled around, never heard from her. Then at 10:15, I get a call from a strange 864 number. #yolo I answered, and it was Kelly! She was incredibly apologetic, not that I mind being called at that hour, because Im a heathen that never sleeps. We discussed my rental, which we didnt end up going through with, due to my partys scheduling, but we ended up talking for over an hour, because Kelly was so nice.Enter August 21st, eclipse day. My crew and I were wildly unprepared. We just wanted to get into the path of totality, our hopes were to get into the water, but we werent sure how crazy it was going to be. We got turned away by the park rangers at the lake, but then we stopped at Jocassee Outdoor Center, hoping to just have them shuttle us and our canoe down to the lake. Somehow, KELLY REMEMBERED ME!!! It had been like two months since we spoke. On a day when everything had been booked up for months in advance, Not only did Kelly somehow produce a speed boat, but she produced their NEWEST speedboat, AND GAVE US A DEAL!!!! All of their staff was also incredibly nice and hospitable, the facility was nothing like Id ever seen in terms of a boat rental place on a lake. They had fishing gear, outdoor gear, camping gear, a small quantity of groceries, hot food, beer and cigarettes. I would and will recommend this place to all of my friends seeking boat rentals.

Had our boat stored there. Went to go pick it up and it was not even in the same lot we had it stored in. They had to go get it for us. When it was brought back to us we had no electricity going to the trailer and the wires were messed up. It was not like this before we started storing out boat there and the last time we used it.

Stopped in here for some supplies before hitting the state park for a night of relaxing after a tough few days on the Foothills Trail. We were welcomed with some good BBQ and cold beer and about the friendliest service a couple of tired weekend-warrior backpacker dads could hope for.

My husband and I visit regularly during the summer months. The staff is super friendly and helpful with the boat rentals. I always get Hoyetts salsa and blueberry jam (they even went to storage to get a jar for me). I recently took a visiting girlfriend for the day to have lunch. Such a beautiful place!
