A wonderful place to visit in old Sacramento. Their bloody Marys (as advertised) are one of the best that Ive ever tasted. Chock full of wonderful taste delights, it seems like a meal in a glass. The staff was friendly and welcoming. You will not be disappointed. Great location for stopping in after shopping and walking through Old Sacramento. Rumor is that it may have been a brothel back in the day. (Not verified).

Love it always...havent been in a while but it never changes. Bartenders were great fast and Best Bloody Mary of all...pool table was eh ok needs a little up keeping and music was good for Saturday night. Great atmosphere always.

Great experience! There was a bar fight where two gentlemen dueled each other with pistols. They were courteous to keep us out of the line of fire and the bartender took care of the bodies. Very clean and a fun atmosphere!

Sacramento is one of the friendliest towns I have ever visited. And the gals at the River City Saloon was a perfect example of Sacramento hospitality. And yeah, just like the sign says, theyre Bloody Mary is pretty darn good.

Im rarely happy when I order a blody Mary, but the river city saloon has exactly what you hope for in a bloody Mary. So dang good! Our bartender, Ryan was courteous and on point. Ill definitely come back.

The bloody Mary is one of the best Ive ever had, but besides that, this bar is over priced and for no good reason. Simply because its in old town did not warrant $30 for 3 drinks, one of which was a shot and a soda chaser... the damn soda was flat. And the bartender tried to tell my nephew he couldnt order a long island iced tea, hes a freaking adult, hell order whatever he likes... and with a cranberry too! As he told the bartender lol, love my nephew!The atmosphere was confusing, is this an old west bar; a biker bar; a gay bar; a (really really bad)karaoke bar; or just an over priced dump with no real identity? Idk, not sure I care enough to go there again. Hey, there were fireworks though, had a great view from the back window...

Pretty cool lots of history here just ask the bartender and food is ok,I really cant rate drinks due too all I had was beer, dont get this confused with the River City Cafe which is down the st.

The staff are great, the drinks dont skimp on flavor and the bar itself has a nice relaxing atmosphere other than Saturday nights. Im not a bloody Mary type person but I recommend everyone try their version at least once.

This place was dark and chill. The bartender is the DJ. They have $2.50 shots of Jack with the purchase of a beer. The offer was made with a draft so Im not sure if thats a thing. And they have sasparilla. Thats not easy to find. Nice place for sure.

This place was fun. The Monday night bartender is very friendly and made easy conversation with my friend and I. Their late night bar food is ok. A shot for $2.25 with every draft!

My how the mighty have fallen. This used to be a great place run by awesome people. Recently I received horrible service. The man would not stop his conversation to take my familys order. A woman came out and said if we are ordering food she can help but we just wanted drinks on a warm day. She said we had to wait. As we waited the man continues to make small talk with this guy. A woman finially comes out and I ordered a Jack and coke. The woman was stale and could not make any attempts to talk to me or anyone my family. I decided to leave with a tap under $7.00, with a 1 dollar tip. A few days later I am reviewing my statements and found they fraudulently changed to give themselves $3.00. I feel violated. I might not of noticed if the service wasnt so bad. Horrible.

Horrible service. Walked in at a time when the bar was not busy at all. Order was taken and finally after 40 minutes of waiting and not getting our food we paid for the drinks and left. When leaving there was nobody there to even accept our check. As we were leaving another family of the same size that came in after we did about 20 minutes later than we did got their food before ours had even came out. I would not recommend this place of business.

Awsome place. Laid back atmosphere. Kids welcome. Great appetizers. Body Mary are a meal in its self soooooooo good.

Great Bartenders and atmosphere

My husband and I are really into karaoke. We went to the River City Saloon for our valentines day weekend, with high hopes of a good time. We were met with a bartender that was the karaoke jockey who asked us what we wanted, gave us a menu and then never came back to take our orders. I tentatively put in a song to sing. Two singers sang while we were there then he played regular music. We asked the white/blonde haired female bartender for directions to our next location and she started spouting street names. My husband told her we dont live in the area can you explain in blocks and she gave him attitude interrupting him saying Im trying to tell you! we left trying to fallow her directions and found out that we were going in the opposite direction. I would not recommend coming here ever.

The River City Saloon is a decent enough establishment, with all the typical sights and sounds of most other dive bars. They also have karaoke nights, which is pretty entertaining. The bartenders are knowledgeable about a number of drinks, and they pay attention to the customers, making sure you are taken care of. The drinks were cheaper here than most places Ive been. Honestly, the only way to get cheaper alcohol is to buy it yourself from a store. I have not tried their food, nor have I sampled their famed bloody Mary. They dont water down the drinks like most places.

By far, the best bar in Old Town Sacramento! Great drinks! The BEST Bloody Mary Ive ever tasted too! The owners are super people! They enjoy hanging out with their customers! Ill always stop in at River City Saloon every time Im in the Sacramento area!

Not a very diverse crowd. Kareoke uses a mic with a cord that you have to stand and reach of the bar to sing. Friendly staff and good food. Needs a lil updating.

Overall, its more of a tourist trap. The sarsaparilla was warm and overly sweet with little balance or flavor.The drinks were okay, bit clearly used lower quality mixers. They had very little selection of liquors with only two short shelves.The decor is petty cheesy with plastic and over-the-top attempt at old west feel. Peanut shells on the floor are just played out and feel fake.

Went there last night and ordered a pabst... it was warm and flat... they refused to replace it with something else even though they then started telling other customers not to buy it because of the problem

I was invited to this place multiple times and decided to try it out. I can say that it is ok. Not great, not bad. Just average. The beers are a little warm and the service is ok. The food was a little bland but edible.

I travel on business and came here despite the reviews. Not a professional crowd by any stretch, and the bar service confirmed it. Definitely not my kind of place. I was late for the door within ten minutes and will certainly never return. Bar Rescue should visit this joint.

When I checked the bank account two days later, our account was charged $42. He couldnt get back there until a week later. Sorry, you didnt come in soon enough. Im pregnant, just lost my job while I wait for school to start back up, and $30 would have been able to feed me and my unborn child for quite a while.You should be utterly ashamed of yourself, River City Saloon. I will NEVER say a good word about you again. You used to be one of my favorite places in the city.Shame. On. You.

The peanut shells on the floor are just an excuse not to clean. Food is fair at best. Working nearby it was convenient but that is the best thing I can say. The different bartenders are night and day, If you come, roll the dice and see which one you get.

Live bugs in the parmasean shaker! Friend noticed after we finished eating the heavily parmasean doused pizza!! Eat at your own risk! The alcohol was good.

I swear their bathroom doors dont lock.

Bathrooms need a bit of attention. And because children are welcome until 9pm, it isnt the best watering hole for adults.

Drinks were gr8! Did like the bloody mary and deschutes stout on tap. Didnt tell us they were out of bacon until after sandwiches arrived. Sandwiches knockoffs from beach hut deli and not done nearly as well.
