Come on out and enjoy the water district. Check out the Deta King or the River City Queen. Take a stroll near the American River or enjoy a meal at Joes Crab Shack!Keep in mind at the time of this review all indoor activities including shopping, tours, and dinning are regulated by California COVID-19 protocols. So bring your mask and have a good time and some amazing food!
Although Ive only been here once before, I like it much better now. A great place for some history, especially for the train lover. I was glad the stores were mostly open despite having to wear a mask all the time.
Nice place to just go for a walk by the river. Not much to do after a 2nd or 3rd visit. Sores sell a lot of souvenirs. Some good restaurants but not much entertainment other than bars and shops selling. I enjoy the outdoors and the River walks
Fun to walk around and see old parts of town and historic buildings still in use... Friendly environment and lots of cool shops to stop and browse neat and rare products...
It was nice to get out and shop local in historic old Sacramento. A lot of people were out. Christmas lights, Christmas tree and holiday music pumping through the speakers. It felt like the holidays..
The Old Sacramento Waterfront is clean and beautiful. They have a ferris wheel now. Thats new! All the shops are decorating for Christmas right now. I had such fun on a bike ride today.
Super cute this time of year. They have an adorable light show that matches to Christmas music, and a 50 ft Xmas tree. Super fun 2 take the kids to
So many people out and about but everyone respecting each others boundaries. While going through this pandemic and you can enjoy a nice walk with the family.
Old Town Sac has always been a fun place to visit when we are traveling. Theres a variety of restaurants and a multitude of fun shops. In the midst of a pandemic, the place was kind of deserted and the stores had very limited hours. No trains were available for any special events and the parking was ridiculous! Every spot that would be convenient is reserved for curbside, even when there is no restaurant in front of it. There were more 15-minute spots than I care to ever see in my life. While we were waiting for a meal from a restaurant with patio seating, a vagrant came to the window and snatched the order that was supposed to be ours. Maybe well visit in the future when conditions are more fun.
A great place to enjoy with friends or family. You can walk around eat some ice cream or sweets, check the cute shops, the train musiun, seat at a restaurant by the water or just seat somewhere to watch people....lots of things to enjoy. Oh! Did I mention is a great place to take pictures?...I hope you visit!
This was absolutely beautiful lit up with Christmas lights and a huge Xmas tree and even Christmas music! Theres still parts of the cobblestone streets and sidewalks of wooden planks.
I gave it 2 stars instead of one because of a shop called Steamers. Best coffee shop around. Hands down!!Other than that old sac makes me want to cry. 80% of the shops are closed and have lease signs on the doors. This Covid thing is killing Sacramento businesses. Its very sad to see.But if you are looking for a great coffee go to Steamers. They have great good too. Love love Steamers
Its always good to go for a walk in a wonderful place like the Waterfront during these trying times.
Really nice to walk around, lots of stores and restaurants to eat and shop in
I personally love old places and pieces of history. We went into a lot of the stores and theyre very cute with good service! Its parking meters but its cheap and more then one way to pay
Definitely better than Downtown. (You have to enter in through downtown to head here) Downtown used to be nice, but now homeless people are there and it can stink sometimes. In Old Sacramento, its way better. People show their talent in public for you to enjoy, and there is live music (By the people in here.)
The water front was awesome great views amazing weather just a great place to visit
Beautiful sunsets, nice farris wheel with waterfront overview. Lots of food options! Great history and lots of pubs.
Beautiful little place to visit!!! Quite a few nice little unique souvenir shops, plus a few of the standard 2 for 1 type tee shirt shops...
Old town Sacramento is an awesome place to go and see things as they were back in the early days. We went to Joes crab shack It is a great place to get really good seafood. The food was great the waiters were great truly awesome food and the staff were so awesome I would recommend it to all who love great food and awesome people.
Loved this place 1st time going and they had a lot of cool stuff to do...not to mention that ghost adventures went there to a candy shop right by the water
We loved Old Town Sac! Friendly people and lots of shops. So many choices of great restaurants and food trucks, be sure to sure to bring your appetite.
If you are looking get a break and want to get spend the afternoon looking around and shopping it is a great place to be. First get your favorite shaved ice or ice cream and see how many shops you can go in and buy something. Than take a break and have a great meal and start with where you left off
Sooo crowded could barley find parking! But a great experience! Love the Toy Emporium could get lost for hours! Candy heaven had so many great old time candies and all sorts of special and limited edition candy! Great place to spend the day or stop through!
Old SacTown Riverfront. Visiting on business trip. The Scooters made it easy to explore the area.
Super cute town that looks like a set off an old Western movie. Weve been to Joes Crabshack 2 days in a row for lunch and loved sitting on the patio and enjoying the waterfront. And tonight we went to an outdoor socially distanced comedy show at Laughs Unlimited andd had a great time!
Beautiful and nice to visit old site, not only to read about history but you can see it also l love it
I had a wonderful time here with family. I love walking through the shops, especially the jewelry shops. The old style feel and quaint atmosphere takes me away two times gone by. Whenever I come to Sacramento I like coming to the waterfront. I only wish that the trains and the boats were still running. Who knows once pandemic is over I might still get to ride!
Definitely a place to get put to, whether hanging with friends, family, a date. Its very versatile, but mostly laid back. A variety of eateries and bars. Nice scenery for just hanging out and taking a stroll. I advise comfy shoes as some roads are cobbled.
There is at least one beautiful place during the night to enjoy in Sacramento.
Visited on sep 7th 2020. Wow! Good place to have fun. Pleasant evening. First time experienced electric bike. Will visit again. Good to see trains in Sacramento.
Awesome place. The little shops were fun to go into. The bridge was beautiful. The railroad museum looked pretty cool but we couldnt go into it. It was just a super cute place to wander around for a morning. Well definitely visit again once things open back up!
Its beautiful here. The bridge is so beautiful, such an amazing color. The shops are nice and interesting. There are motorized scooters that you can ride around, which is part of the fun. Lots of nice restaurants to try out. I loved it here. It was so nice to be next to the river.
If you want to step back in time this is the place for you. The railroad museum has some really neat displays. The shop are very eclectic. You can get old time photos taken. They have plenty of places to eat. If you want to play a trick on your friends and family be sure to hit Fannie Mae. You can even take a carriage ride.
Very nice. It is free so do not park in the big parking lot. Park in Old Town if you find a spot.It appeared that the majority of the places there closes around 6pm, but some were still open. Masks are required in the restaurants, but of course, you xan remove it to eat. The prices were about $$, so not too bad.
One of the nice things to do in Sacramento. The stores are mostly tourist burgers, sweets, and trinkets. The cistume shop is a maun shop to visit. But there are some nice shops to visit during weekdays. There used to be a leather shop I liked, that had decent prices and interesting tooled graphics.Ive not found any good food at a decent price. So you will need to try any of the hundreds of restaurants that serve tasty food in Sacramento.
A bit basic, and just too many closed businesses. I feel like they really need to do something to fill up the spaces do it doesnt feel like a ghost town when walking through. Still there are other good things in the district, and its a fun alternative at times
Always a good walk. Stopped to look at the river and boats. Actually saw 5 seals sunbathing.
The train museum is really cool and gets five stars. There are few good restaurants but need more to do. Lots of empty shops and store front. Plenty of parking near museum. A few more homeless people laying around than you would like to see in a tourist area or anywhere really. Not San Francisco bad, but bad enough to mention. I hear lots of money going into the area but still has a ways to go. Fun during the day but pretty creepy at night. Streets lights arent great and not many people, other than bums, when we were there.
I love to visit old Sac they have something going on every month. Great place for tourist, the train museum is perfect for the kids and a quick stop by the stores for souvenirs and pictures to re imagine the old gold fever days.
I will never forget this place of history. I absolutely enjoyed walking around and seeing all the different historical buildings and boat. So many different shops to visit and different places to eat. I look forward to coming back!!
What a wonderful place to visit! Such beauty everywhere you look. There are so many stores to peep at! Its never a dull time in old Sac!
I love being able to walk along the public deck. My kids saw a seal.
We had a nice Anniversary Dinner at Delta King Restaurant. We had a view of a solo musician playing from the balcony across the street. Many of the businesses have closed, its still a nice outing. We took the train here, which is on one end of Old Town and stayed at the Embassy Suites, which is .6 mile on opposite side of the train Station.
Spend a little time here. This area has aover 100 buildings looking to be from the late 1800s to early 1900s lots of parking all is either multi story garages or metered street parking.the side walks are wooden so wear appropriate footwear. The buildings are all well maintained before 8am there isnt much open but you can get pictures with out cars in front. The area is about 3 blocks long and 3 blocks deep not including the river area which has the old trains.
Fabulous donuts made right in front of u. Super friendly guy!
Every time Ive been down, it has been a lovely experience. People are having fun, dancing, eating outside. Just enjoying the scenery.
Super fun. Love the old architecture, shops and restaurants
Honestly one of my favorite places to come and meander around.. always full of life and joy. Highly recommend it to anyone looking to take in the sights, sounds, and appreciate the history thats been preserved beautifully over the years.
Nice and relaxing. Great views, awesome spot to take photos! Bring your masks and gloves just in case. Maybe a blanket as well. The birds down here love to run around so watch your step.
This place was amazing! So gorgeous! Absolutely great tourist spot or just for a night out. We also loved walking through the tunnel to downtown sacramento. Seriously so many restaurants and shops! Not to mention just seeing the beautiful buildings! Highly recommend!
It was a beautiful day, shop workers were friendly, and it wasnt crowded due to covid-19. Great experience walking around.
The Place is Small but So much to look at and many many stores to purchase goods you can never go wrong with spending time there with your family . The electric scooters are always super fun to ride! The Securities are Super nice and Always doing there job. The river is a place where you should not swim!! But heyy at your own risk. Haunted places make old sac more of a thrill to visit at night .
We love walking along the waterfront! We had many dates, our first kiss and he even proposed to me on the bridge!! We love reading about all the history and enjoying the views as well!
Fantastic magic memories of a Winter wonderland making me feel as if I was at the North Pole itself waiting upon Santa himself! I HIGHLYrecommend any and all ages to come out for the holiday festivities! Take a cruise down the river on the Hornblower and hear a guide give fascinating historical information about the town, buildings, waterways, and more. Catch the Polar Express Train in your pajamas and relive the old book/movie and believe all over! Enjoy the area that has been recreated and characters to go along with it. Eat at Joes Crab Shack when hungry and prepare to be full and happy with the atmosphere and speed. Then stroll along the shops and enjoy as you are serenaded with live music and a huge tree that changes colors with the music and a street light parade similar to Disneyland waiting on the arrival of Santa. MAGICAL! Just SOME of what was there. ENJOY!!
Old Sacramento is one of my favorite 1st date spots. Theres plenty of places to walk around, grab a drink, check out shops and get to know each other better. I love the history and architecture of the area.
This is a nice area to visit, must do it walking do you enjoy it best and dont have to worry about looking for parking, theres street parking or theres a structure near by. I loved it.. I visiting from Los Angeles..
What a gem of a place, so full of history and awe. Loved the quaint little shops and not to forget the taffy store. Old red Indian shops were awesome too, bought a rain stick. Lights and carols were beautiful. Lovely festive feeling .
Old Sacramento is an amazing place to go its fun about 45 to 55 different shops open with three bars about 5 to 7 restaurants. Its an amazing place to take your family.
My first in a long time. I had a good time!
Yeah I love the waterfront an Old Sac. Lived here all my life . I never tire of this place.
One of my favorite places to visit. Enjoy the atmosphere and the shops have many cute gift ideas. I enjoy spending time here anytime.
Over the top touristy. Interesting to walk around but the train museum was closed due to Covid and the underground tour was too. The historical part is what makes downtown interesting
With most restaurants having outdoor seating, the choices within walking distance are great and unique. The river walk adds an element of nature smack dab in a city. Many stores with eclectic items to explore. Plenty of parking and a safe environment!
There really isn’t anything to do. All the interactive places are closed so it was just a bunch of over priced tourist shops. There wasn’t a map or signage to point you in a direction so I had to walk aimlessly around and couldn’t t find much of anything to enjoy.
I love to visit this place. It is always beautiful. What a wonderful place to relax and take in some of the sights.
It’s okay place to see and enjoy the old town night atmosphere... if you’re in Sacramento, why not to visit this place ..
Nice view of old town. Food was good, Could if done without the megaphone about jesus while we sat outside for lunch. It never stopped.
I wast here for Dinner and shopping! Had an excellent time, even rode the ferris wheel it was a beautiful clear night!
One of my favorite places to go and walk around!
A great place to take the family for a day of history and remembering the days past. Train museum and waterfront eateries are observing COVID mandates. Clean and sanitize at all restaurants.
Lived in california my whole life and had never been to old sacramento. Went yesterday and loved it. I will be back. Its lovely.
Went to joes crab shack. Food was good very pricey. Didnt wait to long for a table. Enjoyed the old school cars that were cruising around.
Its a cool spot to visit, they have nice shops as well. But in a covid 19 world, there were still alot of people very close together and most not wearing masks. That would probably be my only complaint. They also have great candy shops.
Best place to be especially during the holidays. Love the lights and Christmas tree!
We went the weekend before memorial day and absolutely loved the town. It had amazing old world charm, and the best train museum. A beautiful train ride. I would definitely recommend splurging on the first class coach. There were also many little booths mostly run by volunteers.
So busy on the weekends but so fun. Great place for the family
Weve always loved this place however it was like a ghost town. Been a long time before we ever go back there. Not their fault just a stupid pandemic
Nice shops some were expensive and other normal. Tried the ice cream and it was good. Theres also a Mexican restaurant with live music
I always love coming here with my friends, we always have a great time in this beautiful place
One of my favorite places for family outings. Was extremely crowded though due to Trump rally in downtown. Not many people wearing face masks either, if that is a concern.
Love going here. Its something we try to get in at least a few times a year wish we could more but busy schedules dont always allow that. Heres some pix of our night
Fun atmosphere with historic buildings and architecture, I went in December and the Christmas decorations were very festive. The restaurants all follow the Wild West theme, but some of the shops seem a little “too touristy.” You can walk over to the nearby bridge for a view of the water and river boats, or cross the interstate and you’re in downtown Sacramento; so the location is easy access to other nearby attractions.
Love going for morning walks, you really get to see the place and enjoy it. You can walk along the waterfront across the yellow bridge on to west Sacramento river. Its a very beautiful and pleasant walk 3- 6 miles. The greatest part is theres clean restrooms .
Such a neat place to get to see the history of Sacramento
There was so much old a new. Its a modern wild west. Great people, great store owners, resturants, atmosphere. It had everything.
Great place to visit if you are a tourist visiting Sacramento. Great place to ride bird and lyft scooters. The place has on old western vibe to it.
The $6.00 fee per person for the Faris wheel is well worth it.
Very nice place to visit enjoyed the scenery and awesome gift shops. Really takes u back to an era from the past.
It was ok. Didnt like seeing all the homeless. Unfortunately this is everywhere. I also didnt like having to listen to the cruisers that were blasting their music and thinking it is cool. The cars looked good tho. Some of the homeys were standing in the street thinking they are cool. NOT! Didnt like the too loud Harleys that were riding around either.I visited the rock store Ology. It looked dilapidated and unkempt. Ill not visit that store again. We ate a light dinner at the Rio Cafe on the river. Nice there. We rode the horse and buggy. We did the full ride. I dont recommend this because half the ride was right next to the noisy freeway. If you dont mind that, then it is worth it. Had a nice chat with the driver as well.Overall it was an ok visit.
It was super neat. The streets are old cobblestone with a raised wooden sidewalk. You could really hear the days of yore walking down the sidewalks it wasnt hard to think how it would have sound back when men wore spurs and boots.
I Loved It! Lots of history, surprised at the low prices for souvenirs, even though is a tourist place. The historical ambience is awesome, food kind of expensive. Due to the pandemic and limit of time on our part, couldnt go at night, which we had been told is an experience by itself. Highly recommend it.
Beautiful scenery. Great introduction of history. Head out to some of the nearby parking garages as parking is limited.
Really nice place. Interesting stores and shops. Food
A nice, cozy setting to sample local wines. The bar keeps are very polite and knowledgeable. Definitely dropping by on my next trip to Sacramento!
