A unique nursery too me! I was on my way to the thrift store and saw this little gem of a nursery. Decided couldnt pass up this opportunity to peak inside. 3 plants and some incense later I was one happy gal. I did pay over $100 for 4 items. The store was kept up well. All plants were beautiful and lush. Customer service was great from start to finish. I will back! Also soap was available to purchase, the smell was amazing.

I came into Public Land Store just roughly about once they hit their 2 month mark. I was greeted by one of the shop owners, Mel. She had a great/friendly personality. Then, I met the other shop owner: Austin. He too is very friendly and has an abundant amount of product knowledge. Austin & Mel have created a terrific interior as well that really compliment their products in their store. As an interior designer (soon to be), I strongly believe that this store is perfectly executed and the quality is definitely there! In terms of experience, once you come into this particular cactus store, youre very overwhelmed. In a exciting and positive way, that is. Youll see a variety of different species of cacti that you cannot find on your own. You wont find these types just in any home depot, walmart, etc. Every single one has such strong and unique features about them. Additionally, they also have other home goods, such as: high-quality patterned blankets, a variety of pots, VERY GOOD incense, ceramic goods, and many more.As you can tell, I am very enthusiastic about this review. Ive actually never made a review on a store but you have to when youve finally found your favorite store where youre an ACTUAL REGULAR. If youre trying to get into plants, I highly suggest starting with a cactus here. Its a quality store with quality products and of course quality customer service. Which is the reason my boyfriend and I keep coming back and refuse to buy from any other cactus/plant stores other than the Public Land Store. BEWARE before entering though, youll want to just cash out on a bunch of different cacti so pay off all your bills!

Such an awesome store! The variety of cacti / succulents they have is amazing. Great selection of home goods and art as well. A couple of our favorites were the woodsy, camp incense, baskets & vintage pottery. We also got some awesome vintage desert inspired postcards to send to our friends. Everyone there is really knowledgeable and helpful in talking about the plants. Great gallery space. The owner used to work for Juxtapoz magazine for years so everything is really well curated. Highly recommended.

Everything about this place is beautiful, special, and lovely. A family-owned, local business #SacramentoProud. Key points for me were: the Cacti selection, the down-to-earth interactions with Mel, the beauty of the store, and their gorgeous dog : ). They offer cacti and succulents that are rarely found in other establishments; you are never in doubt of the love that this couple pour into their plants and their business. They have a good selection of terracotta pots appropriate for the type of plants they sell. And the artisan wares they carry are stunning. I seriously wanted to buy ALL the things.

Great people, wonderful place. Mel and Austin have worked hard and traveled wide to acquire knowledge on so many unique plants and varieties. The love and care that they put into everything is humbling. But beware: if youre not careful you will spend all your moneys here on so many cool little things. Make sure you pay your rent first.

Amazing cacti Ive never seen anywhere else, plus the owners have extensive knowledge about how to care and maintain them, their Latin names and origin/history. You can also pick up pots for when you will need to re-pot any plants, you can pick up small gifts such as incense, soap, candles etc. My favorite part is that they carry items for your dog or your kid, all reasonably priced, such as their eco-friendly dog soap or their collection of Native American books with beautiful illustrations. They also have self-made postcard holders made out of gorgeous rocks found on their adventures throughout the California deserts.

Stopped in here on my visit back home to Sacramento & was blown away by the vast selection of rare cacti & home goods. Mel & Austin are kind, knowledgeable & very insightful about every little (and big) thing they carry in their store. I personally loved how the plants were displayed, and there’s even a small gallery space in the back! There is no other store like this in the Sacramento area so I felt instantly relieved when I stepped foot in here. FINALLY!!

This store is awesome! It’s a refreshing, unique take on a plant store. They carry very reasonably priced rare cactus’, potted in lovely ceramic pots. It’s great because of you are like me and to lazy to re-pot them, you don’t have to! The owners are happy to edjucate you on how to care for them so they can grow to their fullest potential.Oh and I forgot to mention the housewares! Candles, wicker bags, soaps, rugs, books, and an art gallery in the back. It’s all desert inspired. This place is super rad and I highly recommend it.

When you walk into public land you can’t help but feel greeted by every Instagram worthy artisanal item. When i walked into this space i was welcomed by knowledgeable staff on the collections of unusual cacti and succulents. Public Land is cross functional space and it operates as a gallery too . The layout not only showcases design but it also has ethics. All the items are fair trade and the money goes back to the artist or the community. I felt like a good person after purchasing, which is a rarity in a fast consumer world. They definitely are the niche Sacramento needed, a hidden gem on the map .

Recently stopped in public land, Awesome feel. Picked up a variegated Lophocerues schottii came in a nice sleek design terra cotta pot with large chuck mixed rock on top. Great find for my collection! A ton of warm blankets and south western style home decor for sale. The people working had vast knowledge of cactus and a great collection. I’ll definitely stop by Everytime I’m in sacramento to pick something up.

Meticulously curated space. Every detail and item they sell is beautiful. They sell small plants that make great gifts, and larger, badass cacti too. And the prices are really good. I’ve seen similar size/quality plants at specialty dry garden nurseries for way more money, in a standard plastic nursery pot! At Public Land, everything is potted up using the proper soil in the perfect pink-peach terra cotta pot. They also sell empty pots in all shapes and sizes. I brought home a very old, very cool Euphorbia, one I’ve been searching for a long time. Keep up with their Instagram stories because they post new arrivals all the time.
