Super amazing retro decor. Felt very comfortable there. Would definitely revisit if we were in the area!! Unfortunately we were the 0nly patrons at the time so no feel for the real neighborhood vibe.
Refurbished bowling alley in Detroit like in the good old days with friendly vibes all around. The bar has a good beer selection including a decent pint of Guiness. However, no food apart from your basic potato chips. The bathrooms are indeed impressive. We came to see a band here that had a good gig, so we enjoyed it. You may have problems finding a place to park the car.
Being a long time patron of Bowlero, I was really looking forward to the updated Bowlero after a year long renovation. Sadly, this renovation and new management has left me searching for a new bowling alley. Gone are the days of being able to enjoy drink specials while partaking in a weekly league. The lack of any food options, even microwave popcorn, is unfortunate (yes I know a kitchen will be installed eventually, but why not offer something that doesnt need to be cooked and can be quickly heated?). Speaking of the bar, why have two people working behind the counter if only one is going to help get people drinks? There were multiple people waiting for a drink with only one of the bartenders getting drinks while the other one was too busy putting drink glasses in the refrigerator to chill them. It would be nice if that could have been taken care of during the day when there is literally no one at Bowlero. It used to be easy to find a seat behind each lane, but the renovation removed about half of the seats that were once there. Instead of a table for each lane and a standing table behind those, theyve been replaced with one table for two lanes. You quickly forget about the lack of seating when you realize the music is constantly being played at 85 dB+. Luckily it only takes 12 hours of noise at this level on a weekly basis to cause permanent hearing damage. Id raise these issues with management, however each time you ask someone behind the front counter a question, expect the standard response: Im not sure, Ill have to go ask. Did any employee training take place before Bowlero reopened?
This bowling alley is more than that. It is a place to enjoy one another. Fun and great bands. These owners care about people!!!! Family seems to be very important to these owners. Having bowling for the Autistic and special needs has made such a difference is those who attend.Thank you to Bowlero Lanes!
The new owners have done a fantastic job of preserving the building while adding modern technology and retro chic design. The 70s style permeates throughout, but is classy not kitschy. We had fun bowling on a Wednesday night while a DJ spun some old pop, r&b, and soul. There was a bit of a problem with the ball retrieving mechanism on our lane but the staff promptly attended to it and gave us more time for our troubles. They were courteous and apologetic. Its brand new so they are still working out some kinks with the lanes but we didnt care..it was fun! The lounge is really cool and the bartender explained that they will have live bands on weekends, and eventually food. Nice job preserving this gem!
I had been wanting to come here since it reopened and finally made it out last night. For a Friday night, the wait wasnt bad at all. While waiting for our lane, we grabbed a drink in the lounge. The drinks were good and the interior was outstanding.I liked the set up for bowling. The scoreboard was more interactive and had some pretty cute animations. I enjoyed the old commercials playing in the area too. Music wasnt too loud and had some fun songs to bop along to. Everyone I was with had a good time.
This place is an awesome addition to Royal Oak nightlife. The bowling alley is 1970s themed and does a really good job of blending modern and retro vibes. The bar is also fully equipped and pretty affordable. I will be returning.
Fun for the whole hipster family! No seriously, this place is awesome. Do yourself a favor and come visit the 50s with a modern twist of now. That is undeniable! The staff is pleasant and knowledgeable, and the facility and facilities clean tidy and fun loving. Highly recommended!
Decor is so cool, its like walking into a movie set from the 80s. The attention to detail is beyond impressive. Bar is not too expensive, lanes worked great. Bathroom was even super cool. Will definitely go back. Currently no restaurant, but people brought in pizza from somewhere.
They did a really nice job fixing up the place, it looks great! The new computers are nice. Wish theyd upgrade the lanes a bit too...our ball return was really slow (the lane next to ours would get 2 or 3 balls returned for each of ours), which isnt ideal when you pay by the hour. Was here with kids, so I skipped the bar, but it looked cool from a distance. Ill have to check it out next time
Bowlero is one of the best bowling lanes Ive really ever been to... Theres good music, theres a fun and chill atmosphere, and the staff are nice, understanding, and cool people. I really have no complaints. I along with my mother and sister had an absolute blast.
Nice bowling alley, fairly updated and clean. 2 biggest complaints are the seating is extremely small so you can sit about 4 in the lane. And they dont serve food which is a huge let down for a bowling alley. Having a snack while bowling is nice so I dont know if Id go back. French fries and chicken tenders is all Id want.
Very fun atmosphere! Amazing is not the word for the revamp! Owners an staff are very helpful an friendly with any concerns or accommodations that you may need!
Loved the style of the place! Felt really retro. The couches were comfortable, and the ability to set your own theme for bowling was fun!
I came here with friends over the weekend and we were all very impressed. It was a Saturday evening and they were able to get us right in. I loved the 70s atmosphere they were able to curate. Between the colors, furniture, light fixtures, everything here just works. They were able to get the atmosphere perfect without being too tacky. They even have old 70s commercials and bowling footage on the TVs above. The lounge is comfortable and the bartenders were friendly and quick with the service. Theyre newly reopened so they dont have food yet but will within the next few weeks. If they can get the food right, I can really see this being a spot Ill frequent. Either way, a great experience.
A fun place with great atmosphere. Liked the variety of bowling games you can do too! Nice clubby bar.
This place really has a great atmosphere for family and parties especially. The lanes are well maintained and the scoreboard interface is easily the best Ive used at any alley. Made it easy and fun to get started compared to other locations Ive been to. The only downside is they currently dont serve food but we were told that service will be coming. I highly recommend this bowling alley to anyone looking for a good time!
Bowling, pinball, happy hour, and live karaoke nights - what more could you ask for. Neighborhood bowling alley with a 70s retro vibe. Great place to meet up with friends.
I had a great experience here. I loved the vintage vibes this establishment provided. The customers service here was great as well. The staff was very friendly. I came out of town and they made me feel at home. There is also a bar there if you need to get a little losoe. Prices at the bar was pretty reasonable compared to actually bowling though. The pay by the hour method can you make you feel like your being rushed to get the bang for your buck.
Restored bowling alley. The decor and atmosphere are really great. Came in for a yacht rock event and they had an interesting live band playing in the lounge area. Staff is very attentive.
Pleasantly surprised at the renovation here. Had a work party and the owner and staff were very accommodating. The food was good and the lanes were nice with updated tablets and game modes.
Awesome atmosphere, everything is spot on with the theme.. to the point that I had to ask if this was a absolute polished old school alley.
The place to be itsamazing fun fun fun DJ spinning music all ages bowing having a blast. Wonderful staff. Had a drink at the. Safe parking. Cant wait to go back
Redesign looks amazing. New score screens are intuitive and full of information. Great work!
Yes! I love this place. Great 70s retro vibe with live music and stellar alleys to get your bowl on. A few pinball machines dont hurt either.
Very good service. Shoes were nice and clean. Lanes were waxed and clean. Will definitely return.
While the place looks great and the staff are super helpful, there is a few issues here. They charge by the hour, not but by the game, so unless youre in a small group thats very focused on bowling, you probably wont be able to complete the game. And secondly, their music is insanely loud, loud enough that my ears still hurt the next day. The music was so loud that it was distorting and sounded like garbage on top of that. Youre better of going somewhere else to bowl.
Its pretty fun. I dont remember what the prices were like but they didnt just do a bunch of renovations. Granted, they made it retro, which sounds counterintuitive to renovate to a time in the past, but thats what they did. It took us awhile to get a lane and when we did the monitor wasnt working right for long time. We finally got switched over to a different between but we werent compensated for the inconvenience, which is fine, but it would have been nice.FMOI: @joeyshyordieAdd me on snap: @joey_shy123
Nicest people ever, thank u from all the special kids you do so much for .
The newly remodeled 70s motif is fantastic; playing whole, period-appropriate albums on vinyl is a brilliant touch. While the decor was a throwback, the lanes themselves are very up to date with excellent scoring computers and lane hardware. Be sure to turn on the tips for interesting trivia and borderline sarcastic descriptions of the game as it unfolds. The only downside, no kitchen. Apparently that is coming soon, but it contributed to the frustration of a long wait for a lane in a busy bowling alley. Ill definitely be back!
Tried to rent a few lanes and the lounge area for a birthday party. Was working with the event coordinator via email. She gave us the list of rules and costs. Once we agreed she said she would call for a deposit. After a week and no call we started calling the the lanes. No one can take the deposit other than the events coordinator and no one knows if or when she will be in. After 3 attempts and multiple emails, I no longer want to have a party there, I just want her job. Work whenever want and dont worry about customers. Off to hartfield for us
Very nice neighborhood bowling alley. Friendly folks, great music (The Beggars)!
The coolest Bowling ally, it’s like going back in time to the 70’s and I love it. The bar has live music and a D.J.If you gotta be in a bowling ally this one is worth checking out.
Nice and well maintained bowling alley. No food served so you might have to order something out. Bar hv as very typical bar drink offering.i would go back.
Yessss! Its back! To be fair, I never went to it in its first iteration, but Bowlero is a real standout in our little corner of Royal Oak now! I live in the neighborhood and have been waiting excitedly to have it finally open. It was worth the wait! Such a wonderful experience. I will be back to introduce a new group of friends to this place.
The company I work for had our Christmas party there. We had fun, but no food. The company brought food but not sure if its just allowed.
Our visit began at the opening time of 11:00 am on a Sunday morning. There was an issue with the doors still being locked as someone had taken the keys home with them so the staff was figuring out a way to prop the doors open. The retro decor of the facility was excellent. They did a nice job of tapping into the time period with the paint and furnishings. We rented 3 lanes for $30 an hour each, which was a bit of a shock for me, especially considering I havent been bowling in over 20 years. The six adults and four kids from 2 to 10 years of age had a good time. There was a small glitch with the ball return on one of our lanes and the staff member was busy checking in other patrons so there was a bit of a wait to get the bowling balls flowing freely again. We enjoyed the numerous games that were available to play on the scoring system. The bathrooms are interesting with Pac-Man in the mens facilities while the ladies reportedly had a Ms. Pac-Man. The lounge was interesting with the windows to the bowling alley. The staffer was telling us about the food they were going to offer in the new year. We look forward to visiting again.
Owners Dean and Kelly realized their vision of opening a very cool 70s themed bowling alley and lounge in the Bowlero. Highly recommended. 5 stars!
Best time at a bowling alley ever!!! Cool new interior style, and the manager Cy was very friendly and accommodating to my family both young and old!!!!! Great music and atmosphere!!!!!
Saw Natalie Lukasian for free, and she was great, but the act after her was awful. She couldnt play without her tracks pumping from her computer. Silly! No talent hack.
Fun place to bowl, play pinball or just chill with a cocktail. Live music and DJs along with fabulous bathroom selfies . Excellent local hang.
The renovation is stellar. Fun bowling consoles and good drinks in the lounge. Fresh new rental shoes. The house bowling balls are original to the alley so they are a bit scratched up. Lounge will be serving food in the near future. The owners promised they are adding a bike rack soon too!
Took the family for some bowling. $50 for one hour and shoe rental. We had a great time, staff was super friendly and accommodating to our needs. We will go back. Hoping to find some coupons for next time.
Went here about a month ago to check out the renovation everyone was talking about. The interior is definitely gorgeous and clean. We wanted to bowl and have a few drinks but what really happened is we waited at the bar for 30 minutes for a drink and never got to bowl. At the desk there was a hand written list of people waiting for bowling and I knew right away we would never be called. The girl at the desk said it would be a 2+ hour wait. When we checked back an hour later there was no progress. When we were at the bar, the staff were swamped and seemed to have issues with their credit card machines. This was never communicated to any guests and guests at the bar were staring at each other confused and frustrated. I had to speak up and basically beg the bartenders to serve us after waiting 25 minutes. Not a great first impression and we left to go to another bowling alley that had PLENTY of lanes open.
Trendy, fun, well done. Enjoyed it! Parking is tight tho.
Took the family to Bowlero last week - had a great time & drinks were reasonably priced, had to wait about 1 hour but it all worked out in the end. Need a kitchen !
Real fun 70s vibe going on there. The bar is quite lovely too.
Very busy and our place in line on the list was lost, however once it was realized it was immediately corrected and we were given a free hour of bowling. The decor is amazing even down to the Aquanet in the womens bathrooms!
We tried bowling there with the guys for a couple weeks, bar service is horrible! Guys we’re buying 2 at a time so they didn’t have to wait!! Also bowling in the dark isn’t much fun. Unfortunately we moved to a different establishment
The new remodel is pretty awesome. Took a group of highschool students there and they loved it. Outstanding service. Fun time.
Remodel is amazing. Visited on a Saturday night. DJ was great and everyone appeared to be having an awesome time. Look forward to them offering food.
Such a wonderfully retro spot with a great lounge & a large selection of beers, ciders & wine. Highly recommend for a fun night!
Cool retro bowling alley. Be prepared for a wait during peak times.
I would give it a 5 but it seems a but expensive....i get it cool decor venue and great vibe and chic place to go out with the friends but seems slightly overpriced...overall amazing place to go bowling....
They only have about 15 lanes. There were little kids running around unsupervised. Their parents were paying no attention to them running into our lane the entire time. I asked for a refund and was told I couldnt get anything back except a voucher. They wouldnt change our lane either stating there was a reservation. By the time we left no one was on the other lane we were requesting. Poor customer service.
I didnt hate it just wished they sold food
I hosted my 40th birthday here...disappointed in some areas. First, my husband and I called back in early December to ask about hosting a birthday party here. Honestly, no one answered the phone so I sent an email. While the first response was rather quick, going forward I would find myself sending multiple emails just to get a response. We toured the facility in early December and asked to speak to Kristin as she was the party coordinator. She wasn’t there, so they suggested to send an email. I did and heard nothing...sent another and felt we were ready to make our deposit. Sent another email and didn’t hear a word...when Kristin finally responded over a week later, she said my date was gone...they overbooked the date and I needed to change my date. Annoyed, I did it anyway. I was told that I should reserve the minimum of four lanes and I could add lanes that night if available. Since I was limited on my time between booking the event and the date of my party - because I was forced to choose a party date a week earlier than I wanted, I had to rush my guests for a response. When I realized that I had more people than would be advisable for just four lanes, I emailed Kristin and asked to add a lane. At this point I was told I couldn’t, that all other lanes were taken. After more digging I found out that they actually don’t fill all lanes and some are left open for those who walk in. I said fine, I’ll grab another lane that day, even though you led me to believe I could add a lane at anytime. During our walkthrough on our own, I noticed they had a private area near the bar with banquet tables and tables/chairs. I asked how much it was to rent it and she said $200/hr. I said ok, I’d like it for an hour. They do not offer catering so we had to bring in all of our own stuff- food, plates, silverware etc. and set it up. I asked if we could arrive a bit early to set it up, since no one else was. Kristin said I could come 20 minutes early, I said ok. When we arrived at 5:43 NOTHING was set up- not a single table. My husband went up to a worker, not Kristin (she wasn’t there) and asked him where were the tables? He said, “Ok, the notes Kristin left were sketchy.” Thankfully, two gentlemen started putting tables together while my husband and a few friends watched...we brought in all of our boxes and food, ready to go and now had to wait on something that should have been done before we arrived. Kristin did show up after 6:00 and asked how everything was, when I told her about the tables and area not being setup, she kept saying it was done at 5:45, which couldn’t be possible as we arrived at 5:43. Obviously I wasn’t going to sit there and argue with her. She said she was, “Sorry I didn’t meet your high expectations.” Honestly, I just wanted the tables and ropes set up- that was all. After an hour we moved our party to the bowling side. Mind you, during dinner my husband went to the desk multiple times to try to add a lane and was told they were full and we’re out of luck. We reserved bowling for two hours total. After the first hour, our lanes were shut off...so my husband and I both went to the desk and the lady at the counter didn’t know we had even had a two hour reservation. How did this happen when we had a contract with Bowlero? Thankfully after my husband and I answered some questions, she set the game for an additional hour. When we asked if we could add time, we were told no, they were booked. The only positives were the bar staff and the staff at the counter. I would never host a party here or recommend it to anyone. It was not worth the amount of money that we paid.
I dont particularly like bowling but this place is really swanky. Id come here for the bar and atmosphere alone.
One of my early jobs, I worked for Walby Inc for 10 years and spent a few of them at Bowlero. I did everything from waitress and bartender to bowling counter and books/office management. Even did a few ball returns behind the machines, lol. I have some great memories of those days. Kind of sad that they didn’t keep the name of the bar, the Pocket Lounge... now THAT was retro!
New twist on an old favorite. Not the bowling alley of old. This trio of new owners Kelly, Dave & Dean are making this one of the hottest places to be & be seen!
Remodeled and very nice, love music sounds like fun!
Lots of fun and great family environment. A little slow on the service in the bar
We had a GREAT time!! Will go again
Cool atmosphere, drinks are reasonably priced. Great place for adults and children.
Was absolutely amazing originally, but now it’s all terrible remix music, crowded and not the best. The interior is changed and so is everything else. Do not recommend
Fun vibe. Incredible decor!
Retro set up. They wont have a kitchen until next year but they had no problem letting us bring in our own food.
Great band and the newly remodeled lanes were busy.
Only there for a short visit. They seemed to recently renovated to give it a really cool retro vibe.
Lounge is great, and has great concerts. Bowling prices are insane.
This place is a disaster. Pay by the hour, no food and the stoners that work here are not helpful. Overpriced drinks don’t help either. I felt like all I was paying for was the retro vibe of this place. What a joke.
Nice cosy place for bowling with some arcades and a full bar.
Stanley Kubrick would approve great drinks and ambiance. As for the vintage arcade all the pinball machines are newer and they have Pacman, Mrs Pac-Man and Missile command I would not expect this being labeled as an arcade.
The Reefermen were awesome! Great drinks!
Very cool reteo bowling alley! Definitely worth your time.
Clean, high tech, children friendly, low sensory days.
Yeah and night here.... turning point in downward relationship. Bowling was good.
The staff is unresponsive and unprofessional. Do not come here unless you are 105 years old. The music will drive you insane. The staff said that they dont like it and it is forced by the manager. Yikes. Way to draw in the Royal oak crowd.
Awesome place now that they have reopened. Love the retro look.
Awesome staff and great bowling lanes!
Very clean and the score screens were too cool!
Place looks great! Just wished they served food!
Real run place... people engaged. Hardly anyone on their phones!
Way better than punchbowl in detroit
Interesting decor, great music. Debra at the bar was the BEST!!!!!
Great place for family or night out
Awesome spot to bowl, great vibe, very clean too!
Love coming here, great place, great atmosphere, very reasonable prices.
