This is an excellent park with many different ecosystems. You have wetlands, oaks, pines, and much much more. The terrain is wonderful and changing with a few nice hills for exercise. There are some paved trails but the majority of the park is composed of soft trails. Even on a hot day, the woods are terrific and cool. The puns are very buggy but wonderful. There are a lot of wildlife as well. We saw a deer, dragonfly, damsifies, and frogs today. There is a nice overlook with a pair of tables and benches. There are four spots with benches in the parks rest, one of them is a shaded double bench. There is also a really cute fairy door that kids can leave things in. It is located in the Southeast Park region on the other side of Dale Street near one of the signs for a curve. Very very highly rated.
Good spot lots of nature feels, I mostly go here in the early summer its beautiful and there are lots of mushrooms you shouldnt be taking. Many animals about i saw deer; with young, lots of rabbits and chicken of the woods. Its a cant miss spot close to the cities but far enough to get away and have a good time.
Very nice place for a short hike. Lots of winding trails through a variety of habitats. The park is big enough to get a little lost your couple visits but small enough that you dont need to worry if you get a little lost.
Nice urban park with various loops to allow you to run and track your miles/progress. A nice mix of asphalt, dirt, and foot trails, with some moderate elevation thrown in. It can get somewhat crowded on the weekends on the narrow foot trail if youre concerned about COVID.
A beautiful little escape from the city. Perfect place to spend an hour or two surrounding yourself in the sounds of nature Includes both paved and dirt trails. Depending on the time of day you go (open Dawn to Dusk) will heavily influence how many people and dogs you encounter. At times the trails cut close to town and you can hear and sometimes see traffic, but most of the time youre surrounded in Forest. That being said there are numerous exits, leading either to a parking lot, or just onto the sidewalk of the suburbs.
This place is really fun! Woods that are easy for kids to play in, dirt trails with hills, sticks galore. Super fun and beautiful for kids and adults. Trail running here would be fun, although it seems like maybe too short. Wish I had known about this place sooner. Would also be nice if it were bigger.
Who doesnt like a nice walk outside
They really cleaned this place up took sometime.Man what a park. The only woods in the city.I just miss the hill top view taking dates to the highest point in Roseville. We lost part of our youth there in them hills.Did you find it because we left it all behind-unknow author & wighter
Dog owners. Please act as if every other person walking the trails are terrified of dogs. Your dog is beautiful and someone you love dearly, but some of us are scared of unknown canines. Especially unleashed ones. Thank you for being considerate. See you on the trails!!
Nice heavy wooded walking / biking path. Lots of wildlife. Plenty of hills some too big for wheelchairs or elderly people. Connection to a dog park. Plenty of benches to rest on. No bathrooms.
Nice place to go for a nature walk in the cities.
Really nice park to enjoy your day with.
Beautiful! Not all paved. Not level. So worth the hike!
Pretty hilly, but nice. The city should plant prairie plants in the high area next to the huge, round reservoir.
Great little mini-forest in first-ring burbs.
Great short walk/run from a couple different trailheads. The section east and west of Dale is my favorite since its like walking in the pines of the north woods, if you can ignore the sounds of cars buzzing along Dale. The area around the water tower and along the cemetery are nice as well. Tons of deer around as well of you are quiet and patient enough.
Great place to walk the dogs and take in some nature. If youre walking your dog here be aware that many dog owners have their dogs off leash even though there are many signs stating they must be leashed and there are dedicated of leash dog areas. Most of the trails are very peaceful but there are some spots that are a bit noisy due to nearby busy streets. Always fun to see wildfire, including deer and turkeys, when walking the trails.
I love this park but my car was broken into while I was hiking.
Here is a small slice of feeling like you are up north, even though you are right in the middle of a suburb. Great little hiking and biking trails.
Tons of trails novice e played backlogs of big deer
Great hiking/biking site. It was a beautiful walk.
Lots of walking paths great place.
A nice walk in nature! But not necessarily a leisurely walk, keep in mind the path changes elevation often, so you walk up and down hills most of the time (or at least the route we took did).
Best park in my own personal opinion. Plenty of paths off the main road that lead to interesting places. Great for hiking and biking paths. The best part is the small dog park and the large dog park so you can let them off leash for a while
This is a nice hidden getaway in the cities. You feel as if you are in some sleepy woods. A nice bunch of trails to explore- a great place to run.
This is a great place for a family hike!
Nice trails, both paved and non-paved
Enjoyed a nice hike through the woods and took our dog into the dog park. She enjoyed making new friends and exploring the area. The paths were well kept and easy to navigate. We picked up trash... People, dont leave garbage in this natural retreat.
Saw multiple does and fawns, and a red squirrel. Even the unpaved trails felt relatively safe for shared ped and (slow) bike use, as theres decent visibility... at least in mid October 2019. No mud or standing water! You can loop at least 4 miles, if you connect to Villa and/or Tamarack parks... more still if you add McCarrons Lake.
Always a wonderful adventure!
This small, fully fenced area for off-leash dog play is about 50x150. It has a double gate system so no dogs accidentally get out, and about 20 parking spaces. The rest of the park is not fenced.
What a pretty park. Big trees, paved and dirt trails, and some elevation change. Hard to believe you are close to a metro area.
Fun little dog park welcoming of our giant baby dog who is all legs and exuberance. Less busy than other options in this part of the metro. Fun running loops too, watch the hills they arent a joke.
Peaceful and crisp
This place is a hidden little gem in the cities! Cant wait to bike ride, and explore it more!
Great dog parks and hiking is beautiful
I didnt see anything interesting there. Just a paved trail and woods
This place is weird and amazing. You can get lost in a suburban wilderness area! Interesting abandoned buildings, tall pines trees, and eccentric graffiti. Plus, the friendliest deer youll ever meet! All spitting distance from Dale and Larpenteur!
This picturesque park was previously owned by the St Paul water authority. It was saved from becoming a housing development by a community effort. Its largely undeveloped except for the bike and walking trails. It offers steep hills, woods and wetlands, as well as an historic granite lined abandoned reservoir. Its contiguous with Ramsey County open space land, a dog park and 80+ acres of undeveloped land leased from a near by cemetery. Less than 3 miles from the Minnesota Capital Building, you can feel like you are in the middle of a woods in Northern Wisconsin or Minnesota
A nice natural area with a variety of spaces to experience. There are paved trails, gravel trails, prairie fields, wooded areas, and small cliffs to explore!
Theres an off leash dog area next to the fenced in dog park here. The park area is a great place to bring your pet to play. There are tables to sit at and socialize with other owners. The large area just down the trail is for big dogs who run fast to play. Please please please dont bring children there. Big dogs with lots of energy play hard. When a kid gets hip checked by a dog playing with another dog they can be seriously hurt, and some dogs that show up at the large off leash are arent socialized to kids. This is my favorite place to bring my dog to play because she can really stretch her legs and sprint down the trails, but today she ran into a little girl while playing with the girls dog and took the girl down hard. I felt terrible and we left immediately. That part of the park is for dogs, not children. Ive posted a photo of the warning sign about bringing children to the large off leash area.If you have a big dog that loves to run and play, I hope Juice and I run into you at the off leash area.
Great little park
This is good park for a getting out under the trees. Long and short paved paths, informal trails. A pleasant open space.
Great place to ride your bike or take a walk. Its crazy that it is in the middle of Roseville.
Hidden gem, a savanna in the middle of the cities
Really fun park.
Awesome trail. Great to walk, bike or take your dog.
Beautiful park. Lots of trails with varied types of natural areas. It also has the largest butternut tree in Minnesota. I was working with local volunteers for Rosevilles natural resources renewal program.
Great experience on the trails .... Felt like really hiking in the woods, not a few minutes from the city. I will return for sure :)
Love this park and trails system, what a resource to our community to have access to this beautiful preserved land. And there is a great off-leash dog park!
Awesome trail! Perfect blend of hills and valleys and we see so much wildlife each time we go!
Peaceful . Free parking, not busy and a dog park
Absolutely gorgeous!
This is a huge park with many paved and unpaved paths. It has some appreciable hills in it, which is very nice to mix up the walking. I have frequented this park for years. The only downside is that it seems like a lot of kids from the high school like to party there.
We love the feeling of isolation and wilderness so close to the city.
This is a beautiful park! I enjoyed my walk!
Small, but such an amazing park. Discovered it on a first date and took searching to find out where it was to go back once again on my own. Saw deer and other wildlife in this wooded area.
Great for hiking or biking on the paved trails! But its poor for single track biking.
I was in awe when I saw this location it is wonderful. It was so close to us in a City in residential area. One would think that they were in more of a country area so its really cool because you didnt have to go far for that feeling. I was also surprised how many birds and frogs were in this location. You could hear them singing if they were in a singing competition. There is paved trail and dirt trails. I specially like that there was markers that kind of told you where you were. Also areas to sit and relax and hear all the beautiful bird say. Only thing that was missing was a drinking fountain or water source of some kind. So dont be like me bring some water with you.
Reservoir Woods is a minimally developed park in the midst of the city. I love wandering there, its like a miniature state park but only 10 minutes from home. Loss of opportunities for hiking and nature watching. Today was awesome for snowshoeing. If you prefer paved trails theres one that runs through the park. It connects with several other area parks.
Awesome for hikes
Nice walking path in a neighborhood along the upper embankment.
This park has nice wide, paved sidewalks, some great trails, and is very well kept. I really enjoy going on runs here and taking my dog on walks through the different trails.
Great place for a nice walk
Love walking thru the flora and fawna.
Lovely paved trail for jogging or biking.
This is a great walking park. No playgrounds but just a peaceful stroll through the woods. Our kids still loved it as we have seen deer as we walk along. This is a true outdoor escape in the middle of the city.
Entibody is definitely not a huge problem down here
Great trials within the cities.
Nice clear path, pretty scenery, and plenty of hills.
Dont tell anyone about this great park!
Goon and nice
A hidden gem. Very woodsy. Can walk or bike on paved trails. A bit hard to find.
We use the off leash area here and love it! A bunch of woods and short trails for my dog and myself to explore.
Even though youre in the middle of the city, you feel like youre out in the woods. So peaceful.
Walk the dog there and it is very enjoyable.Turkeys gobbling, owls hooting and deer around.
Love the tall pine trees and quiet
Once I found the official address off of the city website, it was nice.
Great piece of nature tucked in Roseville. Very diverse landscapes with prairie, deciduous woodland, and evergreen section. Spot deer, turkeys and lots of birds. In spring many jack-in-the-pulpit a can be found here too.
Beautiful winter hike
Pleasant trails through pines, wetlands and wooded areas. Dog park area is easy to get to.
