Great museum! TONS of information - I need to come back sometime without my kids so I have time to actually read all the signs. Very detailed exhibits, with tons of artifacts. The kids loved all the animals statues (taxidermied?) - pretty much every native type, including fossils. The outdoor exhibits were very cool; I really enjoyed getting to look into a stagecoach. My husband enjoyed the history of chainsaws. Interesting enough for little ones, and really great if youre a history lover and wants to learn more about the local area.
So much interesting information. It is kept up and taken are of very well. The employees were all warm and helpful. Would definitely recommend for a fun afternoon!
Neat local museum, natural history part has really impressive taxidermy.
Great place to visit with family cute amd informative
I had an AMAZING time at this museum. Saw a sign on the interstate and pulled off hoping for a fun stop during a long road trip. It beyond exceeded my expectations. We showed up just before closing and the delightful lady at the front desk couldn’t have been kinder. They had such cool interactive exhibits, beautiful artifacts and detail like we couldn’t believe - look closely, the backgrounds of the glass enclosures are paintings! A highlight of our journey and well worth the stop. Thanks so much for the experience, we’ll remember it for a long time!!
Super cool. Doesnt look like there much here from the outside but tons of historical stuff inside to see and a cool gift shop.
Extensive exhibits but a bit disjointed in layout. Good overview of local history
This museum is very well put together and its displays are nicely done. The animal displays and dioramas were very realistic. The entrance fee is reasonable and the cashier at the front desk was very engaging. They group animals together in species categories that are well done. Enjoyed it!
The information on this areas history, the exhibits, displays, and testimonies we great. The overly P.C. agenda was not to my taste. Pointing out past flaws and lack of inclusion for all does not need to be in your face and pointed out to satisfy the unsatisfyable among us. Just present history as it was!!! Outdoor exhibits were unexpected and unique.
Truly a great little slice of Roseburg history, and available for tours outside of normal days/hours if you set it up with them ahead of time. You could spend hours perusing the portraits, gadgets, garments, books, etc. Highly recommended if youre looking for something interesting and free to do.
Very fun and informative, little bit of everything here from dinosaurs to pioneer. fun for every one, even a kids area down stairs
Everyone in Douglas County should visit at least once. So much info and history, definately 1.5 hours set aside for time. I loved seeing my family history.
Definitely worth the stop on your way North or South on I-5 or if you are a resident! History of the area well presented and lots of artifacts. Minimal entrance fee and nice gift shop.
I liked the displays and the calm and quiet browsing. Learned that beaver fur was once sought after lol
Great local museum covering everything from sabre tooth tigers to mastadons & woolly mammoths (skeletons) up to current times with timber & mining... An interesting stop off I-5...
Relaxing experience, great historical photos, new attractions being created and kid friendly.
I visit lots of different museums around the country. This museum is very clean, open floor plan, decent air conditioning, and friendly. It feels like a work in progress because there is painting and roped off areas. The lighting on some different splays is not sufficient and several displays lack explanation. The early native American displays need more native American and less white settlers. There are shaped stones, tomahawks, and clothing, and information on migration and diet, but not on culture. Lots of settlers that should be in another section, like downstairs with the wagon, and household treasures. If you visit only one museum outside the big cities, this is a good one, I t covers native Americans, pioneers, gold, logging, forestry, and the animal furs, and animals are really well done. Good job on the taxidermy!
The douglas county museum was amazing we had so much fun playing museum bingo.
A ton to see. Love history seeing nature (with no chance of rain ;-)).
Wonderful place. Very friendly staff and lots of interesting things to look at. Great gift shop.
I loved this museum! They did a free mothers day craft day and my kids and husband enjoyed it. Beautiful structure and historical displays.
Small, delightful museum. The early settlers exhibit is fascinating, plenty of information, artifacts and photos. The Ancient Oregon display of animal fossils is just enough to fire your imagination.
Great hands-on activities for children.
Very nice small museum. Its located @ the county fairgrounds. Has alot of interesting information. Bring the kids, it has two kids areas.
Excellent museum, lots of local history, interactive exhibits for kids, nice staff. If youre interested in the Roseburg/Douglas Co. area, a must see.
Possibly the best local history museum Ive ever been to. Well laid-out, informative, and offers an amazing diversity for such a small museum.
The place is amazing, we stopped and only got to see the new ice age pieces, its spectacular and the staff is great! Absolutely planning to stop here longer next trip.
We come here at least once a month. They are friendly and there is a lot of great information about the history of Douglas county. They are good about changing exhibits.
Quaint and well done, with a lot of local history. No rocks or minerals, however.
A fun little museum. Family and ADA friendly.

A lot of great stuff to explore including hands on for littler kids. Everything is well kept.
Great fun and to be had for all, particulary children. Loved their turtle fish tank. Showcasing an historic living area, where one can relax, adds to this most interesting museum.
