We went for my daughter’s 10th birthday and loved it! I called in advance to receive recommendation for a family with younger kids and the very helpful rep suggested Escape Dentention! The kids loved the theme from the beginning and our operator, Usama, was very helpful because we struggled! The room had a great setup too! Even though we didn’t escape we had a great time for our very first escape room experience and will surely be back to conquer a room!

I waited a while to write this review in hopes I’d go back and play the detention game.However, the other two games, Cabin Fever and Prison Break, are phenomenal. I had a blast with the different groups I went with. The puzzles are logical and there is plenty for everyone to do.Prison Break was probably my favorite game at this location of the two I played. All of the hosts are cool, they have props to pose in photos with should you win, and it’s not just rooms full of padlocks.Parking is outside and there’s plenty of it.HUGE bonus points for private reservations.Standard $30 for each person at most rooms as is the industry norm.A great escape room experience and I’m happy to leave with two memorable victories and adding these rooms to the better of the 16 I’ve been to.Cabin Fever time to escape: 59:47Prison Break time to escape: 46:00

Had been a little while since I had last done an escape room, but I had a free night and thought Id get back into it. I called ahead to get a recommendation based on previous experience/skill level and was suggested the Cabin Fever room. It did not disappoint. The room was well thought out, the puzzles were just the right level of challenging, and Andy was a great room operator, attentive and chiming in when I needed without giving anything away. Made it out with a couple minutes to spare, and had a great time doing so. Great escape experience!

When I called A Game of Rooms Rockville at first time to make a reservation for my sons party. A staff named Andy gave me advice of how to choose an age appropriate game room for my son and his friends. It turned out to be a very good choice. My son and his friends successfully escape from the room in the last minute. Everyone had a lot of fun!

Had a great time with Escape Detention. Andy was our operator and he was great fun! It was just me + 1 and Andy played off our humor so it was very enjoyable.Even though we managed to finish within the time limit with just us 2, I totally understand why it is recommended to have more people. But it is possible with 2!We will come back for another challenge when we can recruit more people.

My girlfriend and I went here last Friday and we had a blast! Ive got to thank Andy at A game of Rooms for calling me ahead of our scheduled appointment to reschedule because our original appointment had us in a room with 6 kids and not that theres anything wrong with kids but he knew that in order for us to have the best experience possible, it was probably best to either place in a room with other adults or for us to have it do as a two person experience. We chose the latter option and some changes were made (such as we were given a few more clues since we took on the detention center as a team of two) to accommodate us. Well definitely come back. Took 6 teens to Game of Rooms in Rockville and they had a blast! The first thing I noticed was how helpful Andy was as I was deciding which room to book. He made sure we selected the right room for first timers and he was correct. We will all definitely be back again.Special mention for Usama as well, he was great with the kids and enjoyed having him as their operator.The attention to detail, challenge levels and friendliness of the staff have me planning a return trip soon.

My department at work came here and did the detention room and had a great time! It was definitely challenging and kept us busy the whole time, but we made it out with 7 minutes to spare. Our host O was also great and gave us a few little hints if we asked for them. Would definitely recommend this room for beginners and a group of around 6 people.

A fun place! Our group played Cabin Fever and it was a lot of fun but challenging! Our moderator was helpful and gave us valuable information to lead us to the next step. At the same time, he only helped when we asked for it or when he could see that we were struggling! We would return to play a different game. Highly recommend. I personally love escape rooms!

One of the best escape room locations I have ever been to. Andy and the rest of hosts were great and very funny. All three rooms were fantastic and definitely challenging. My favorite room was the jail break. I could not recommend this place enough the hosts alone were just incredible

Andy was a great host! A group of friends and I came on a Monday night and played two games here. Lobby is clean and has a water cooler while you wait for your game.Rooms are very well decorated and themed. Small details such as the ceiling being painted and hallways being decorated and themed (such as a metal detector leading to a prison room) complete the immersion.The puzzles had a very good balance and mix. Nothing felt too overdone. Complex in just the right ways where its not too challenging and not a breeze. The only thing that I personally dont like are too many books in the room as its a bore to go through all of them to find information. Not a big deal as the information is pretty obvious, but still something that someone inexperienced would spend a lot of time on.Overall would come back and recommend this location! Plenty of parking and not too hard to find!

We had a great time at Game of Rooms! We did Cabin Fever with 5 people and we would have escaped if we had a few more minutes. It was really fun and Andy was great. Overall pretty challenging I think but we also made some silly mistakes. Good stuff!

We did the Cabin Fever Room - very very good. The puzzles werent linear, there were lots of them, and the game master (we had Usama) was great at providing the exact level of hints we needed without giving too much. He also dressed up to play the part for the room which was super cool.

So much fun! My family (4 people) did the detention room for game night and we made it out with one minute to spare!!! Joy, our operator, was so sweet and gave us just the right amount of hints to break us out!! Thank you joy for making it a fun and successful night! Had a blast doing the cabin fever room. We came here after reading nothing but good reviews on Yelp. Our cabin operator, Usama, was amazing. He did a great job setting the atmosphere and helping us out. Even though we didn’t make it out he took the time to explain what we missed. Will be definitely coming back for another room.

My boyfriend and I completed the Escape Detention room and had a blast. Our operator Andy was so kind and had the best customer service. We had originally signed up to Jon a ton that already had 6 participants, knowing it might be difficult with just the two of us. Andy called us before our visit to let us know that the other participants were all kids. He offered to let us come at a later time to do the room by ourselves. He was very kind and gave us some extra hints to move us along. Im glad he said something because though I would do the room with more people it might have been a worse experience if we do it with young kids. So thanks to Andy for a great time and great customer service. Were hoping to get some friends on board so we can try the cabin room next!

A terrific experience for a birthday party! We reserved the party room and an experience for eight guests and they all had a great time. 10 out of 10 would do again.

What a great experience!!! Our leadership team escaped from all three rooms. But more importantly was the professionalism of the staff. After our other activity fell through, I called the morning of and they fit my group of 22 in without a problem. This place is definitely a must do!!!

Outstanding experience with my family! The escape from detention room was a great intro -- but not too easy! Some very clever puzzles. Mercedes (our host) was fantastic -- gave us a few clues when needed, but only enough to push us in the right direction, and only after we had struggled for a bit on our own. Played the school room game and it was too challenging for me to have fun in. We did not get out. The room is huge in size and makes you feel like you really are inside a school class room.

Ive been to many escape rooms and my experience here with operator Jess was by far one of the best I have had. So much so that, for the first time ever, I was able to convince my family to go right in for round 2!

Our group had a blast! we did Cabin Fever and we just barely escaped in the last minute. Our operator was Joy and was very nice got right to the point for the objective and kept us well informed of the time limit we had left, plus loved the scout outfit she had on. Only problem was that the walkie was very quiet so it was hard to here what joy was saying sometimes. Also, I believe she said the hint TV monitor was suppose to go off with an alarm for a new hint but there was nothing mentioned on the monitor or an alarm notification for the hints. Other than that Joy and Cabin fever was a GREAT choice for out group.

Being my first time here with other co-workers, we were given the cabin fever game. This game was very challenging, but there were clues. We almost completed this, but didn’t make it. I thought the whole process of these games were to have a connection with others, bonding and working together as a team.Great instructor USdina.

The puzzles were all very well conceived and laid out. It took a while to figure out how to start working with the clues and numbers, but we eventually made progress, not that we got out in time! This was our first experience with a Game Room and I was impressed with how the staff made it fun and challenging.

Went for the first time yesterday with a friend and it was super fun (and stressful). Definitely recommend going with more people, since the rooms are designed for at least 4+. Our operator, Andy, was really nice and helpful too!! Gave enough hints to help us out haha. Would recommend this place for almost anyone, especially young adults.

It was my first time in an escape room and I had lots of fun-I was a littler nervous about the whole thing but it’s really fun. My friends and I did Cabin Fever and our operator was Andrew who was so nice and made the whole experience very fun!

Rosie was super sweet and support from start to finish. Even though one member of our group was 15min late on a friday night, she was really great about it. She was also really helpful during the game and kept us moving forward. The ambience and the game is interesting and fun. Will be coming back for sure.

I had an awesome experience. My group did the prison escape room, we found the room to be the perfect difficulty and we enjoyed the surprises. We had a great experience at A Game of Rooms in Rockville! Our group was four adults and four middle school students and we conquered the Escape Detention room! It was the perfect challenge level for our group, although we did need a few hints from Doug. Everything was great about our experience, especially Doug who made it extra fun. A Game of Rooms has some of the highest quality escape rooms Ive done (Ive been to 10+ rooms). Cabin Fever was amazing last time I went, so this time we decided to try Prison Break. Zoe was our operator and she was really friendly and helpful while not giving too much away when we asked for hints. We thought the difficulty of the clues was just right, and we had a blast! We also loved the prisoner outfits we got to wear for the photo afterwards. Thanks for hosting a great escape room!

We did the escape detention room and had a blast! It was easy enough for two of us to (just barely) get out on time, so smaller groups could definitely accomplish this. There was a good mix of difficulty with the puzzles, and the clues were very helpful when we needed them. The only reason I didn’t give it a full 5 stars is because the room wasn’t as elaborate as most of the other escape rooms I have been in, and most of the puzzles were the same (some kind of lock). Overall the staff (especially Chloe) was very friendly and we had a blast, so I would definitely recommend!

First off, let me say that Chloe was awesome. Very direct, sweet and welcomed us with a warm smile. Second, this experience was an awesome one. Definitely a Different experience but for 6 people to work together and figure things out was awesome. But once again, definietly could not have done it with them clues. Chloe YOU ROCK!!!

My group of five had a lot of fun in the Detention room! Even though we hadnt booked an appointment or called ahead, the staff were very accommodating. Our guide Andy was informative, engaging and patient with our group of mostly newbies.The room itself was logical and surprised us multiple times with its puzzles. We managed to finish with 10 minutes to spare (and apparently no hints, though I think we did attempt to ask once).

This escape room place is amazing, our room coordinator was super kind and helpful; thank you Doug. The room was challenging but wasnt stressful to the point of panic. The rooms were in good condition with everything being sanitary and contributed to the rooms atmosphere. This place does not lock doors, and can exit the puzzle at any time for air and restroom breaks, as well as allowing as many hints as needed. The coordinators gave helpful hints without spoiling anything, leading us to the right direction. Overall this was an amazing experience, my group almost made it out, with two more puzzles left. The only thing that could make it better would be some time check ins.

We had a great time! I went with my family of five, all of us adults who love puzzles and games-- so I was pleased to find that the beginner option was still challenging. It was elaborate with lots of clever parts to it and we got out just in time! Our game-master, Doug, and the other manager we met were both very attentive and fun. Overall, Id say this escape room set-up was even better than with my first experience (elsewhere)... definitely hope to go here again!

I went with my Board Game Design class and did the School Escape room and it was good challenging, but not too hard and we finely did escape the room.

As a first timer, this was a good experience for a beginner like myself. We were given clear instructions and had a lot of fun! Will definitely recommend this to any avid escape room player!

I had great fun with my family here. The escape room we did was nicely organized and the puzzles were challenging. The guide was attentive and gave good minimal hints at critical time to help us through. I will def come back again in the future.

Gamemaster Andy was excellent in character and humor. He made the experience much more enjoyable as we did Prison Break which was an challenging but very enjoyable escape room.

This place is a lot of fun. My cousin and I enjoyed the Prison Break room so much that we went back to Escape Detention the next day. Compared to some of the other Escape Rooms in the area they fill their rooms with a lot more puzzles and some of these are no joke. Search every corner of every room, and really enjoy the thrill of cutting through riddles and opening a variety of gates with limited hints. We still have one more room to crack probably in May, but I cant wait for when the other two rooms come out.

Its a fun activity you can do with friends or family. I just wish rooms are similar to those in movies Nevertheless, it was worth the experience!

My friends and I did Cabin Fever on a Saturday night for my birthday, and my gift was that we escaped! Doug was very helpful in the registration process and very patient. They even put my name on the board and had a board that said “Happy Birthday” for the group picture at the end. The escape room itself was so fun; my friends and I couldn’t stop talking about it at dinner right after. The overall game was challenging, but the staff gave really great clues and made the game exciting. They really got into character, which I loved! It was most of our first time doing an escape room. We all want to come back for Prison Break!

This place is great! Ive done about 12 or so escape rooms and this one deserves the five stars. Our game master Chloe made sure we had a fantastic time. We did the Cabin escape; the room was clean, the puzzles were challenging but not obtuse, and Chloe did a great job giving us hints at the right time. Definitely recommended.

Myself and a three friends did the “Prison Break” escape room. The experience was excellent and challenging enough to be fun. We got out with little time to spare, having solved some well designed puzzles.Our guide during the experience was engaged, enthusiastic, and friendly. I cannot recommend A Game of Rooms Rockville enough for would-be escapees, both new and experienced.

So we were originally going to go hiking when a huge storm rolled in. With family visiting we wanted something fun to do indoors. We called up A Games Room and Andrew kindly helped us out because we had 3 children in tow (infant, 3, and 4). We all had an amazing time and escaped in under an hour. I highly recommend this place!!

Ive done close to 10 Escape rooms and this one defintely stood out! The theme of the room and the game master is top notch and has lots of detail! The room also didnt feel very linear until the very end where we knew what we needed to do to break out. Early on, we had lots of things to work on and could spread out. We did the Avalanche Escape and managed to break out! Andy, our game master, was incredible! Must visit if you are into Escape rooms!

I went here for my birthday party, and it was one of the most FUN experiences Ive ever had. Upon entry, they had a happy birthday sign listed on the screen and were super welcoming, attentive, and helpful the whole way through. My party was split in two, one group going with Joy in Cabin Fever, while my group went with Chloe in Escape Detention. The room was so entertaining and well thought out, the clues given were helpful (and amusing) but not so much that it gave too much away. Both groups escaped and got pictures taken, and from what I could tell, the other group had as much fun as we did. Staff was SUPER accommodating and friendly the entire time. I will definitely be back for another round!!

Game of Rooms has locations in both Rockville and Columbia. I recently did the Escape Detention room with my two sons. It was challenging and interesting making us collaborate with a common goal. One of the best interactive experiences I have had with my kids in a long time. Doug, the host, was phenomenal.

The details in the escape room were great! Everything was put together very well and it was all fairly easy to follow. Chloe was also very friendly and definitely made the escape room more immersive. I definitly plan on coming back here for a different escape room at some point!

Well-organized and clean, with very friendly staff. We did Cabin Fever with six people and made it out just at time (with PLENTY of hints) -- definitely tricky, but things made sense and it made for a fun challenge. Doug was our Ranger for this game and he was fantastic! We definitely want to come back to try the other rooms.
