Pretty good selection of saltwater fish and frags... depending on recent shipment arrivals. Prices seem to have really jumped over the last month or so on the fish though. Still top choice in the foothills area.

We came to pick out a betta and they had a good amount. I had to ask for help because the lady was busy, and the guy at the counter helped me fast. I needed a heater for my 15 gal but they only had 1 option and it was $20. We eneded up going to another spot for the heather.

There disorganized. i called on a Sunday few weeks ago. outgoing message said there open daily even 4th of July. But didn’t answer at noon . i called again 1pm and they answered. i went to location inquired about custom built in aquarium. was told to call another number. i did, no one called back.

As a complete fish dummy, Auqa Life Aquarium helped to point me in the right direction to start my new hobby. Their fish stock is healthy and diverse. Their employees are very patient and knowledgeable, and their prices are good to boot. I love going into the store!

I want to like this store but I have such a hard time convincing myself that every time I come I encounter anything other than problems. Unfortunately I always seem to get Alex (young girl) helping me and it just frustrates me! I wanted to confirm the price for an anemone as marked on the glass and she states ‘oh those are super old prices, let me confirm what they are now.’ Price was marked $49. She comes back to tell me the price is now $100. Whaaaaat. We’re in the middle of a pandemic, businesses are shutting down - are you trying to be next? Nolan is always helpful but I feel like I am bothering him since he is busy with other tasks. I wanted to buy a couple fish but was just so shocked I left. Here’s a tip, don’t deal with Alex. If you do, I guarantee you will pay more than I will for the same product. Stick to Facebook Groups...

Worst fish store on the planet!! I called to see if they had discus fish and the guy on the phone said they had plenty of them in stock for sale. When I arrived they said all of their discus were being shipped away??? Horrible customer service I even mentioned on the phone that last time I came they had said the same thing to me and he ensured me they were for sale. Businesses shouldnt lie to their customers period.

Neat variety of freshwater fish not seen in other local fish stores, but super tiny tanks and lots of sick/dying/dead fish. Definitely be ready to quarantine anything purchased here.

I have been browsing fish stores for a while and got my nose stuck in this store. I knew what I wanted and really appreciated their betta tanks and just the store in generally seems well maintained and full of healthy fish. Their prices on fish food is very reasonable, even have live blood worms for cheap. 3 weeks later my betta is healthy and loving her 10 gallon planted tank. I highly recommend buying fish from this store once your tank is cycled or adding new fish to your established aquarium.

Customer service wasnt very good I had to stand trying to flag people for help.But the person that helped me was really friendly and help full.Their fish choise is not the best also, how ever you can special order fish.Their plant selection is great.And have some cool drift wood.

The best Discus in the area. I drive 2 hours each way just for these fish. The owner is nice and the tanks are clean and the fish all look healthy. One photo shows the tank at the store the rest are the fish I bought and have now.

Good place for fresh and saltwater fish with friendly service. Wish they had more coral frags and saltwater fish. They had a lot of empty or sparsely populated saltwater tanks (fresh water fish tanks were well stocked), otherwise Id love to shop here again. I came in on a Saturday before closing so maybe they just sold out of stuff, Ill definately be back.

Just had a terrible experience at this store. Was trying to return or exchange a small piece of aquarium wood that stained my water and they would not exchange without receipt. Keith me waiting fifteen minutes before telling me this. Said that I might not have bought it there. I dont need to be called a liar when there is a great aquarium down the road in Citrus Heights.

Im not sure what to say about this place. Seemed almost like a fish market for feeder fish but at the same time a pet store. Not sure what is happening there. Just a lot of tanks with fish.

I have gotten all my plants here and they are always happy and healthy. The only times they die off are when it’s a mistake I made. I always find that their suggestions for my tank always work out.

They didnt have a big selection or stock. Customer service was excellent. Parking was a little tight due to a couple of moving trucks taking up a lot of spaces. They had a lot of our tank supplies that we were looking for.

STAY AWAY. VERY INCOMPETENT!My wife and I went in for advice on adding some fish to our community freshwater tank. We went into detail on all fish in our tank and the first person sold us fish that died in 12 hours. When we took them back, we were informed by the store manager, Nolan, that we were sold incompatible fish. He offered us store credit and then said he would personally recommend some fish for our tank. He suggested a jewel cichlid and told us it would be perfect for our tank. 12 hours later, the ciclid killed two of our fish. We tested our 40 gallon tank and there were no water quality issues. I had the water tested independently as well by a reputable aquarium shop with the same results. We escalated this to the owner with no resolution. Clearly they don’t believe in customer service and absolutely do not know what they are doing. Buyers beware.

Staff are incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. I trust this store to have safe, healthy fish and to give me the right advice. Very large selection of fresh and saltwater plants and animals. Lots of discus. The fish seem healthy and well taken care of. Theyll do free tests of your aquarium water if you bring them a sample. They also have a very good guarantee/return policy on their fish. Prices arent any cheaper than anywhere else, but its worth the extra money. I especially prefer this store over the big pet stores such as PetSmart and PetCo.

We gave this place a try a couple times, but after our last visit here we have decided to take our business else where because of how Un family friendly the business and staff is here. We have a 4 year old daughter who is so excited to get started with learning and taking care of fish. So we decided to come here to get all the info we needed, as well as supplies we needed to get our little girl started. Anytime she would touch something off the shelves (which would be put back in it’s correct order) we would have someone tell us not to have her touch anything, and they would stare at us and whisper with each other. This is suppose to be an exciting experience for our little girl and the whole time I just felt extremely uncomfortable bringing her here. Tried a second time to see if I could shake the uncomfortable feeling, but same thing again happened to us.

The staff is great. They were able to explain how and what to do and are happy to answer any questions regarding your fish tanks. There is a wide variety of salt water and fresh water animals, including anemones and corals for your salt water. They have beautiful display tanks showing the potential of a good choice of animals and a little patients. I will never visit another Aquarium store. Great job guys!

Real reefers don’t let friends shop at Aqualife. Bad selection high prices. And if the staff doesn’t care about keeping their jobs then neither do I. I’ll be happy to not ever go again.

It was my first time in, about 15 minutes before closing. The two guys I spoke with were friendly and knowledgeable, even though they must have been ready to call it a night. I just moved to the area and looks like this is a quality fish store. I will be back!

I live in Bakersfield about 4 1/2 to 5 hours away online this place looks awesome but was pretty disappointed. Fresh water seemed pretty well stock but the salt water department was almost nothing except a few typical fish you see in every fish store. My local store thats not half this size has a better selection. Most of the tanks were empty and the coral selection was fairly small. Maybe it waz towards the time they get a new supply this was a thursday.I will say that staff was friendly and store was clean prices were not bad on the things I did look at. I would probably not stop here again as I am passing through though. Luckily there are plenty more stores on the Home.

I wanted to visit this place a few times before I made a review, so I visited here both on the weekends and weekdays at different times and dates.So this LFS is currently just okay. I like the set up for both fresh and salt water fish and inverts, and I appreciate the divided tanks for the betta fish, as most stores only keep them in cups. They also carry a lot of dry goods/tanks at what at first glance seemed like competitive prices. I think the most impressive part of the store is their stock of discus, while very expensive they seem to be high quality, healthy fish.On the flip side, every time Ive visited (even after their shipment days) their livestock seems to be lackluster. It doesnt seem that there are a lot of unhealthy fish, there just isnt a ton of variety unless freshwater wise you are looking for discus and apistogramma. Their freshwater plants are generally so so, nothing to write home about, and are usually pretty sad looking. The most frustrating part for me shopping here was the lack of marked prices, even on fish and plants Ive noticed in the same locations weeks apart.Lastly, their staff is also just okay. On my visits, I was only greeted once. Unlike other local LFS I have yet to talk to a staff member that seems really passionate about the hobby. I get it, retail can be a pain and we all get busy, but even on the slower times the staff hasnt ever been really friendly.All in all, I think this place shows promise, but currently will not be my choice for my LFS.

First time visiting this store. I was greeted then no other interactions with staff. I was looking for Bala sharks they had none for sale.

Helpful staff always ready to answer my dumb questions... you gotta learn somehow just glad its by these guys. They wont suggest selling you something if they dont think your tank is ready for it. Thanks for making sure Im not throwing my money away and most importantly that my wife isnt.

Very small inventory of fish. I recommend going to a larger aquarium such as the Aquarium Depot in Citrus Heights.

The new store is really nice. Employees are very helpful, and I like if they dont know the answer to our question that they go and they find out for you while youre there.

It was ok but I didnt like the people or the vibe there were giving me and my 2 small children. Weve been going for years but now idk. The tanks were small, the selection was minimal and out of everything, and the tanks looked sickly. Aqua Depot has my business now.

Just came in after a couple months break. The store use to be really busy. No customers today. It appears management has changed. Energy level in the store was poor, lots of dead livestock. More dead crabs then alive, frag selection has gone down and the display tanks are filthy. Bought some dry goods to kill of a gift card.

*The Very Worst Aquarium and Fish Maintenance Service Company Ever!*I spent over $$$$$$$$ on Aqua Life Aquarium Maintenance Services to try and keep my high end Oceanic Saltwater Aquarium running and alive!Seems every time they came to do Maintenance and Service they up sale me with Parts or telling me I need this Fish or to add more Coral or Anemones! Up Sale, Up Sale, Up Sale! and in the end my tank died in there care!! Lets not forget the *Extremely High $ervice Fees!!* Note: at the end I found out the Employees sent out was paid very little with barely any knowledge or training on Aquariums and Saltwater Care!! In fact most of the Service Employees are *High School or College Kids* looking for work! This place is a *SCAM* in my opinion!!

Decent selection of livestock. Prices are quite good on some items, inflated on others. Dry goods prices are average for the hobby. Some staff members are knowledgeable, others, not so much.

One of their employees called me about a Craigslist ad I am selling African cichlids.He said his name was Mike and was very inconsiderate. He probably doesnt have much of an education because he thought I was selling African cichlids for $1.
