1000% worth it. Captain Dan is wicked knowledgeable and has spent the last 30+ years sailing all over the world. Try to go for at least 4hrs OR sign up for the lobster bake on the beach.It’s absolutely incredible. You sail over to a small uninhabited island, while enjoying a charcuterie board. Once you’re on the island you’ll enjoy the FRESHEST lobsters paired with plenty of homemade food and homemade pie to top it off. We will definitely be back for another sail!! Remember to BYOB.

My older brother had found the website for Bufflehead Sailing Charters while searching for sailing in Rockland during our vacation. Captain Daniel was very friendly and shared lots of history, knowledge, and great stories of the area as we were sailing. He also showed us good spots for photos and recommended amazing sightseeing spots and restaurants for us to visit during our trip. It was the first time I have been on a sailboat before and I had an awesome experience. We were out on the water for two hours and time seemed to fly by quick because we had so much fun!

Did a two-hour tour with my dad this summer and had a blast. Captain Dan not only did a great job piloting his boat to show us around, he was very informative about the history of Rockland and the surrounding areas. Would definitely sail with him again.

Captain Daniel was awesome. He worked with us around the weather in early October to make sure that we had the best possible experience. He took us out to an island where we did some hiking and then came back and he cooked lobster for us on the shore. It was THE BEST lobster we had the entire week we were in Maine! We sailed back into the sunset and had beautiful views of lighthouses and got to see some other very cool sailing vessels (who all greeted us warmly). Captain Daniel was very informative throughout the sail about everything around the area.This sailing adventure was definitely the highlight of our trip and we highly recommend it to anyone looking for a non-commercialized Maine experience.

This was a superb tour..., beautifully crafted, taking us through the long history of the Rockland. The accommodation was wonderful and the food/wine experiences truly memorable. Captain Dan is not only a fount of knowledge but a wonderful host and has a great sense of humor.We were so lucky and had a photographer Quinton. Dan and Quinton went to great lengths to provide us with experiences much beyond expectations and I cannot thank them enough.

Capt. Daniel was great!! My wife and I text him around 6 pm for availability the next morning. He quickly responded and luckily for us he had two seats and away we went. We were able to learn about the area and even captured photos of seals, a bald eagle and porpoise. It was a great 3 hours that I would highly recommend anyone to experience!

Awesome time. Captain Dan is such a knowledgeable guy about the islands and local waters as well as the history. You are on the boat ten minutes and you know you are in for a great trip. Highly recommend the 4 hour trip!!!! Thanks for the great time Dan.

Loved our tour. He was great with my nephew. Very knowledgeable, fun stories, and easy to talk to. Handled the ship beautifully for all this landsman could see.I highly recommend him!

We absolutely loved the day! Perfect. Time socializing and laughing with Daniel and company plus more quiet time sitting at the front (I know there is a term for it, I just dont know what it is!...hull?) Of the boat...so beautiful. I will be back every year!

We had an excellent time sailing with Daniel. It was one of the highlights of our trip to Maine. He was so welcoming and kind to all if us. When my 2 year old started getting fussy he broke out his guitar and tried to keep him entertained. His knowledge was so fascinating and he answered all of our questions and told us stories of his sailing adventures. We had an added bonus of sailing with his friend/photographer whom occupied my 11 year old son with pirate jokes and YouTube conversations. We had a chance to see seals, porpoises, and several birds which Daniel spotted and named. It was a blessing to sail with them.

Captain Dan is the best! I went to Maine on vacation last year and had previously charted two other boats that were not Bufflehead and my experience was, meh. But then we charted with Captain Dan and he gave me an experience I will never forget! Myself and a group of friends did a six hour sail out to Monroe Island where we ate a picnic lunch ashore on the island with our beloved Captain. He made us feel like we were home and regaled us with the most fascinating stories of his travels and experiences as a boat captain. You can tell he is very passionate about what he does and that he wants you to have the best experience you can possibly have. He is a wonderful captain with a warm heart and genuine passion for life. Seriously do not waste your money going anywhere else! Bufflehead and Captain Dan are the best there is!! Im going up again soon and booked 2 sails this time. I really would love to have booked every day aboard Bufflehead! An experience not to be missed!!

Absolutely the BEST sailing trip ever! This Captain is awesome and will answer any question you have. His sailing is top knotch and he keeps you entertained the whole time. If you want a true sailing experience, then this is the boat and captain for you!!

We went out sailing with my 80ish parents and all loved it. This is a real, wonderful, wooden boat that has been around, sails beautifully, and has a captain with just as much character and warmth. Got great pics and great memories.

Fantastic! Ive chartered other sailing cruises before but this was the best. Captain Daniel is great to sail with. His experience and knowledge of sailing and the bay is extensive. Bufflehead isnt the biggest boat you can charter (32 I think) but it was very comfortable for the 5 passengers on my charter. Probably more would work too on a warmer day when you can mill about on the deck. What really made my 4 hour trip memorable was the conversation along the way - we learned all about the bay, its history, the people who live and work there, and enjoyed some hilarious stories about the people Daniels met along the way. Raya (his daughter) was a joy to have on board too, and Amanda was wonderful in working with me to get something set up that I could make work. I would definitely sail on Bufflehead again.

A Bufllehead charter was the highlight of a week in Maine with friends! If youve been to Maine at all, you know thats really saying something. We rock-climbed in Camden, we kayaked in Port Clyde, we picnicked at Drift Inn beach - but we always talk about Capn Dan and our time with him sailing around to a picnic on Monroe Island.I smartened up for this years trip and booked two outings! If youve never been to Midcoast Maine, then a Bufflehead charter (or two) is a great centerpiece to plan a trip around - and - if youve been to the Midcoast before, then a Bufflehead charter is going to become one of those Have To things to do on your trip.Make sure to book a longer sail though - the time flies and youre cheating yourself with a short sail. Like Capn Dan says - a day on the water is like a weeks vacation.
