Beautiful day, busy Sunday. Had our second cart before we left the tee box. Good pace of play and greens were in great shape even though we havent had any rain in over a week. Staff was friendly and helpful.

Played a 9 hole round at Sandy Hollow today for the first time in a couple of years. The course was on pretty good shape. The greens were true, but a bit firm. Sandy Hollow is a nice FP course thats not over challenging but has some nice holes and is a nice place to play for the money.

The course is in excellent condition, especially the smooth relatively fast greens. The folks running it are friendly and efficient. Go play! Dan

I always do good here. Be prepared that there is a lot of people that golf here. You maybe have to wait a little from hole to hole

Okay course. Staff is super friendly, they could maintain course a little better. Not a fan of hole 10,11 right next to apartments. Residents there are pretty rude. Cheap mild difficulty but overall would go back.

One of Rockford oldest courses . It has sadly lost a lot of trees but still one of the best in park system. The clubhouse is historic and the course is really easy to get in and out of. It appears to be less busy than others which is always a plus. Long fairways and two very long Par 5s it has a lot of variety. I prefer the back nine.

NephitiriJ Matters!Ive been golfing at Sandy Hollow Golf Course for years and never have I experienced such a sweet and pleasant presence like I have since NephitiriJ has been there. What a delightful young lady, I really hate to see her go. Im going to tell you guys a little secret. My golf partner and I take turns calling to check on our tee times just to hear her voice. Im going to miss that smile of hers too. Although it is covered by the mask, I still see it!It is nice to have someone so positive and bright in this world of chaos and confusion. Rockford Park District is very lucky to have her.

I love this golf course I lived on 20th Street East to walk on after closing and practice my putting. Had my first hustle on that course 2 me and my friend got big giant pool Nets and would scrape the bottom of the pond for golf balls and sell them on the back hole two golfers that like are quality of balls lmao and I remember you got chased out of there at night time one time we went swimming in the water hole before had all the chemicals in it and one of the guys came down at yelled at us and I took off running good times I love that course Ill never forget it.

Sandy Hollow is one of Rockfords oldest municipal golf courses. Its well maintained and offers plenty of challenge to golfers of almost any skill level. It did lose a number of trees in recent years due to disease, but there is still plenty of trouble and aesthetics. Overall, a great value.

Ive been playing this course for over 30 years and Ive always loved it. Every hole is unique and diverse and beautiful to look at due to their well scaped floraculture and undulating fairways. It is my go to city course.

My home course since 1980, challengingLess trees due to the ash borer but still tough enough!Great breakfast & lunch too.

Worst golf expierence of my life. Took 1.5 hours to play 3 holes they had the course so jammed up wouldn’t get a refund and had awful front desk service save your $ don’t go here

Really was looking forward to coming to this golf course but paid $55 to sit at every hole for 20 min and then they have a short short course and was very disappointed to learn after we paid that theres no blues for this course. After hitting the first hole and having to wait 30 min to hit the next hole is not a fun experience. Called after the 3rd hole and the guy at the front said we could get our money back, got back to him and since we through away our receipt 20 min ago he wouldnt give us the refund. Definitely wont be back.

Consistent - kept up nice - great staff (laid back and friendly) - affordable (12 bucks for 9 - 21$ for 9 with cart, prices are for after 3 pm, I think a couple more if before, may be less on weekends) - after 3 is twilight so 18 holes for 9 hole price. Front 9 is H1 par 4, H2 par 4, H3 par 4, H4 par 4, H5 par 4, H6 par 3 (200 yards), H7 par 4, H8 par 3 (130 yards), H9 long par 5. Back 9 is H10 par 4, H11 par 3 (130ish with pond), H12 par 4, H13 par, H14 par 4, H15 par 5, H16 par 5, H17 par 3, H18 par 4. Back 9 with back to back par 5s on H15&16 allows experienced players to improve normal scores and the rewarding H17&18 to finish it off. One of Rockfords nicer courses that is up to par with the nicer public courses youll find in the suburbs. Never too crowded and a good bet for walk on tee up at nearly anytime in late morning or afternoon. Greens play better than most other courses (with tricky H9 if your into unpredictable slope and challenge). Again, a consistent experience and one of Rockfords better public courses - one with that certain private course feel and beauty.

Aside from Aldeen, its the best (affordable) course in Rockford, hands down. Say hi to Ken the superintendent while youre out there!

3 of us played 18 holes at a 3:50 tee time. $13 per golfer for the holes and $48 for two carts. Waited at an empty window and said hi to the employee as he walked up. He didnt say a word or even look at me until he got into the office and then I asked for the carts. 4 holes left and someone comes to tell us the carts need to get back.....would have been great to know when paying for the carts. There was a time when the park district taught employees about customer services and how to give people a positive experience. These guys failed. It was disappointing, bUT expains a bit why the courses arent doing great in rockford.
