A beautiful park next to a calm river. Lots of winding and fun to explore trails. Rock faces to climb, hills to go up and down on. Its not a huge trail, so its perfect for all ages.

My absolute favorite place for a walk! The trails are nicely kept and not too difficult, and there is a lot of interesting wildlife and plant life here to see! The museum is also really interesting, you should definitely check it out to learn about Native American history.

Nice park!

Great park in the Quad Cities, Rock Island IL. Part is along the Mississippi River. Lots of spots for families to get together and cook out, have reunions and Birthday parties. They have a beautiful area to have an actual campfire!

Landscapes formations are unique and provide nice scenery and walkways. I enjoyed reading upon the different markings on the trails that complemented the brochure I obtained from the museum area.

I have spent a lot of time in the park! Great place for walking the dog. We have had many picnics and other gatherings! My wife and i got married here may 4th 2019! I have seen many weddings here as well! Good times!

Its a Good Piece of Mother Nature right in the middle of the City...

I go here to walk and run all the time. Love having a park that I dont have to compete with frisbees or bikes.

My family and I really enjoy hiking here. Its convenient and they have some good trails.

One of the hidden gems of The Quad CitiesTrails are not clearly presented, but its not in wild and you wont get lost.A bridge that once existed has been taken out of service. But the detour is close.Two hiking lengths. Different entry pointsPicnic shelter.bathrooms. firepit with benches carved from large trees.

From the beautiful old growth forest to the charming and amazing museum I have grown up in this place. I almost gave it 1 star to keep this place all to myself. I cannot possibly say enough good about this place. Truly Gods country.

Grew up in that area is a kid absolutely loved hiking around. There are so much history back there and its worth the trip to check it all out

Historic Indian site

Well. Have driven through the Black Hawk Forest Preserve to look at colors. It was gorgeous this year.

It was too foresty. Too many trees. Too much wildlife. Too natural and beautiful. It was just like one of those National or state parks.

This park is so big and beautiful with lots of trees that in the fall look stunning with the leaf colors! So many cool trails to walk on that take you into the amazing woods with great views! Great place to have picnic with family or friends! A bridge that goes over the other side of the park that makes for a fun experience! Its breathtaking all around this place and always something to do here it would take months to do them all! If youre a nature buff this place is right up your alley!!! You will not be disappointed at all!!!

Black HawkForest Park is a nice big park to go, had a picnic there. Had a good day at the park.

Little slice of heaven.

I love walking here with the family. Youll see groups of teens, couples with their dogs, and families walking here at the trails. It’s a nice place to take pictures too, if youre creative!

Public parks are amazing! Recently there had been some great volunteer work done at Black Hawk Forest to maintain the trails. Their work is apparent. Awesome job! Keep it up!When going through the selection of trails that the Quad Cities offers Black Hawk Forest should make the top ten. Longer available miles, central location, and easily accessible trailheads make for a great time for individuals and families.I really recommended the park for school groups wanting a nature walk for the kids where they can learn local history, plant life, and basics of hiking and interaction with our environment.Also, for people wanting to get some short trail running mileage in without having to drive too far, Black Hawk Forest can be great. Again shorter miles for running, but with some creative trail weaving and repeats you can build some longer runs.

Wonderful park, and the Indian museum is really interesting to go through.

We absolutely love taking our kids here! the hiking trail is a perfect distance and difficulty level for a young family just getting kids into hiking. Our little ones take about an hour to make the big loop, but you can take different trails to make it shorter, or go around again for a longer loop. Its really pretty scenery as you go on the long trail, and the river view off the shorter trail is really beautiful as well. The kids also enjoy playing on the playground after our hikes. Perfect way to keep them active!

Great hidden gem in Rock Island County. Did you know the westernmost battle of the Revolutionary War was fought there? Try to find the plaque just east of the main lodge on the walking parh.

Really beautiful trails and nice facilities. Some trails need some work but they are working on it. Trails could be better marked.

Beautiful area and the visitors center had several historical artifacts and stories to share about the land. I always love learning about history.

This is an awesome retreat from busy city life! The hiking trails are a great place to get some exercise and see wildlife. There are picnic shelter with grills, great views of the river(from the south side of the park), and there are several great geocaches to find throughout the park.

This forest is actually a Historic Site. They have a beautiful lodge and trails the meander through hardwood forests. Overlooking the Rock River is a treat & the color explosion in autumn is very hard to beat.

I hike this park about 3 - 5 times a week and it is a great a little gem in the middle of the city. Rock Islanders are lucky to have something like this in their town. There are a variety of trails with changes in topography that range from easy to moderate and plenty of wildlife to see along the way. Unfortunately, Trail and Bridge maintenance have suffered significantly in the past 10 years due to budget cuts and priority changes within the state of Illinois.

Very well organized museum. Gives a complete picture of the tribe and their social organization.

My wife and I love the trails! Its a great way to get out of the city and not actually have to leave it. Everyone there is friendly and respectful and the trials are kept in good condition.

One off my favorite places to walk.

The statue is a Pokegym so Ive been up here a lot more than usual. The overall park is a great place to walk. Theres seating around the statue that is very pretty and a good place to take a break in your walk and enjoy nature. The building is a nice place for events.

A few short hiking trails that are beautiful and you can frequently see deer. A couple of nice parks for the kids also.

Beautiful place to hike. Love spending time there watching the river, the wildlife and birds. The museum is fun to visit also. Great information about the Sauk indian tribe and the great warrior Black Hawk.

Its a pretty area, but short lived for riding road bike. Great adventure on foot. My rating is based on riding my bike.
