An excellent gym for top rope climbing (I dont usually boulder, so I cant speak to those facilities). Their shoe and harness rentals are very reasonably priced. And the lot has plenty of space for parking- even at the busiest times.Their new COVID policies are clear and easy to follow. I felt very safe returning when they opened back up in August. I highly recommend this climbing gym.

Went for a birthday party. Well done. They teach you how to belay for your guests, or do it for you for a fee if youd like. The pizza and party gifts are included. Nice venue and very fun for the kids. Ages 8-12 for the party. Plenty of varied difficulty levels and other things to climb besides the rock walls: cargo nets, ropes, even a tire with a bell to ring when you get to the top. Very reasonable price. Even when it was busy, there was still plenty of wall space to explore and use. 90 minutes was plenty for a group of 8 to have fun.

I went to Rocventure for the first time after climbing at many other gyms in the area just to check it out. Their top rope is very engaging and accessible for beginners and challenging enough for experienced climbers. You definitely should check it out as both kids and adults will have a great time.

New and experienced climbers are both well served at Roc Ventures with a wide range of top rope grades to choose from.Furthermore, the staff is amazing. New ownership took over and transformed the gym into a welcoming environment. They are exceptional. The owners genuinely care about building an indoor rock climbing community thats inclusive, encouraging, and challenging. It seems like they are consistently brainstorming ways to nurture the growth of the gym through fun events. I love the headlamp climbing nights the most. I also look forward to their music themed or costume climbs. If you are a new climber, dont worry: the top ropes easy to learn and there are plenty of routes for you to begin on. The staff is enthusiastic to help.If you are an experienced climber and looking for a gym, I recommend the seasonal climbing leagues. Its a great way to climb among other experienced climbers and an opportunity to meet some folks. (New climbers can comfortably compete in the league, too!)Im in my late 20s, so I havent had a birthday party in quite some time. However, I would totally have had a birthday party here in the past. Seems like so much fun! The staff help out and Im sure its a great way to introduce your kids to a new hobby. Climbing rocks.TL;DRGo to Roc Ventures. The ownership is delightful and the business is awesome.

This is THE best climbing gym in Rochester! Great for experienced climbers or beginners, RocVentures has it all! They are constantly adding new and challenging routes and are always excited to talk about climbing. Perhaps the best thing about this place is the atmosphere! The owners and staff at RocVentures are amazing! Everyone is friendly, knowledgeable and always ready to help. This is hands down the best place for climbing, whether you are looking to learn, grow, or just have fun! Go to RocVentures!

Went here yesterday with a group of friends from school. Had absolutely no belaying experience and within 10 minutes both my partner and I had it down and were ready to top rope. The routes that I did were challenging and fun. It is my understanding that the gym has recently changed ownership. All employees there were super nice and they even had an adorable dog! Ill definitely be returning here in the near future.

Been to all the Rochester gyms and this is the best by far. Ropes and boulders are far better than CRG. Red Barn competes well for quality bouldering. I definitely love it there, but ropes are my favorite.

Took my kids and their cousins to Rocventures last night. The gym is incredible and so family friendly. The kids only bouldered but they had plenty to keep them busy. The options for harnessed climbing are amazing! Walls, ladders, ropes... We were truly impressed and will definitely be back- with our harnesses! Thanks for a great time!

Life is about more than lifting things up to put them down, so make your gym experience worth something. Grab a partner and have a day of top-rope climbing or go solo and attempt the bouldering caves. Paths are consistently updated so theres a new reason to visit after youve finally figured out the old paths.

Review №26

The gym is under new ownership as of Spring 2018, and theyve done a lot to update and improve the gym. New holds and volumes, adjusting routes and how theyre marked, new flooring, new ropes, expanded bouldering, set lead routes, and added limited fitness equipment (exercise balls, free weights, etc). New routes are all marked with consistent hold colors instead of tape, and the grading system was expanded to denote sub-grades. All of these changes havent affected the main thing I love about RV - the casual, familiar atmosphere. The staff are wonderfully friendly, and I can always just show up and find someone to climb with. Memberships remain affordable.

Had a great time here with my little sister. You have to learn how to belay or operate the ropes for each other before you can go on the course. It cost around 31 dollars, but there was a deal for 45 dollars that included way more perks. Instructors very friendly.

I dont climb that often, but I had fun at this place! They normally will make you take a class if its your first time there, but you can test out of it. The routes kind of jumped in difficulty pretty drastically. One level would feel like a ladder and the next would be pretty tough.

Well, I wasnt expecting to be trained there which was pretty fun for the family of us 6 to enjoy some rock climbing. But we passed with flying colors, lots of easy and very hard obstacles. They had a changing room which was nice also had a bathroom. They had lockers and hangers off to the side so you can place your stuff so dont worry about your stuff being stolen. They have water fountains when your thirsty and some other snacks at their register.Very fun place lots of obstacles for the family, you dont have to be an expert to climb, they have mats for safety, just double check your rope and gear to keep being safe!. Have fun!!!

Not the place to go if you are passing through town. The required belay test is $11/person and its on a grigri clip in system. The bouldering routes are sparse, awkward, and inconsistent. Maybe we would of had more fun of we just bit the bullet and payed the $55 bucks for the two of us.

I am pretty disappointed that this gym isnt really for climbers. Its a nice recreation space for kids and has some vertical toproping and a couple of poorly set caves. Basically it is an entry level climbing gym with no lead climbing, no serious route setting and no serious bouldering. Think of it as a beginners gym - or a poor substitute for a serious climbers gym.The owner is not a climber - more of a recreation specialist who developed the citys only public rock gym and turned that into a novelty for families and kids. It works for that.I was there in the earliest days of RV, when the small population of serious climbers in Rochester used to go there regularly. We set good routes and had good lead climbing routes for certified leaders. The caves were pretty good as well, with lots of harder bouldering problems mixed in. You could traverse the entire gym from end to end through both caves and get a serious endurance workout. It was fun. They eventually ran off all of the climbing punks and the serious trad guys like myself and my climbing partner... we just gave up on it.Today I go back there with a couple of local friends who are new to climbing. Its sort of sad to see whats left of RV - but its provides some variety beyond climbing in my home cave. The staff are very nice and accommodating. It would be great to see this become a real climbing gym again.

Been climbing a couple times before, and this place was pretty good. I liked the nice open space feeling of this gym, staff was helpful and there was a good variety of climbing. Only downside was the labeling of the climbing routes werent as clear as I would have hoped in the bouldering section. I had a lot of fun on a date with my girlfriend, so four stars overall, will come back!

My wife brought seven kids to Rock Ventures for my sons birthday, at $20 each. I brought an ice cream cake to celebrate and they wouldnt allow us to serve and eat it there, despite the picnic tables in the building. The reasoning was that ice cream cakes make too much of a mess, and other types of cake are permitted. Terrible customer service.
