Excellent Links course. This year the course was in excellent shape. Challenging but fair. A great course for the whole family. The rolling ungelating of this course makes you feel like your in Scotland golfing. Wish they would serve food would make the whole experience just that much better.

Love playing Blackheath, it is my favorite local course. Given the value in price you get a great course for the money. I have golfed after a strong rain and the fairways and greens took water incredibly well. Grass is in great condition. Course definitely can be busy but that is a testament to the value. Very beginner friendly in my opinion just in the sense that the fairways are wide and with the style of the course there are not trees to worry about. Not much tall grass either so it is hard to lose balls. Staff that I have encountered have all been very friendly especially the starters and rangers. Great course!

For the price, this is a very nice course that is well kept, not overly challenging but still fun. Its very hilly, and some holes provide you with incredible scenic views of the whole course. As others have mentioned, most of the fairways are a bit tight/right next to each other so you do have to keep your head up when you hear FORE. Many people have complained about pace of play and that the ranger does nothing to enforce - Id have to really disagree with this. We played on a Sunday morning, and I had zero complaints about the pace. The ranger was driving around regularly and making sure that people were closing the gap if they were falling behind. Also, the cart girl Jenny was super awesome, and she came around very frequently which was nice.My only two complaints would be... cart girl has no credit card reader so its cash only (we probably would have spent a lot more if CC was accepted), and second complaint would be the lack of food options (pre-made sandwiches in the clubhouse is basically your only option).Overall, we had a great time on a well-kept and well managed course. Definitely will be back!

Honestly one of the most poor experiences I’ve had on a golf course. The course itself is ok. Cart paths are garbage and the holes are extremely close together.Aside from the course itself, the management ruined our experience. They booked a 6:24pm tee time for us. Then hounded us from the second we tee’d off about having the carts in by 8:45. We were bearded throughout the round by the ranger, who had no idea we were being held up by the group in front of us.After the round, we were practically chased out of the parking lot because the manager wanted to go home.Extremely unprofessional for a golf course of this caliber. If you want a good experience, go to twin lakes.

Beautiful course in Northern Rochester. Large fairways make it an ideal place for both experts and novice golfers alike, I would know, I’m much closer to a novice and I was able to shoot an 80. It’s not extremely easy but the open land makes it easy to locate your ball so you will save strokes in that sense.

Cr
Review №38

Pretty basic course. Not in bad shape or anything but pretty plane Jane. They say its a Links course but I didnt see it. Not much heather, long rough, or big greens with undulations. You can spray it way right or way left and still be in play, granted it will be in someone elses fairway. Speaking of which keep your head on a swivel as many teeboxes/greens seems to converge in one area, and many fairways are pretty snug to one another, so if you hear a FORE you better duck, and put some marks on your ball so you can identify it. Dont play the whites unless your 80+ years old and can only drive the ball 150 yards. Difference between blues and whites is too drastic. 400 yard par 5s are no fun. Clubhouse looks like it will collapse with a strong breeze, which might not be a bad thing, as long as nobody is inside. There were a ton of golfers on the course but the clubhouse offers next to nothing in the way of atmosphere or food, and definitely doesnt make you want to stick around and shoot the sh*t over a beer after a long round. Spruce the place up, thrown out a basic bar menu and a Golden Tee Machine and you could get more people to stick around and spend some more money. Pace of play was pretty slow...8 minute intervals between tee times is pretty tight. Although I will say there were multiple rangers out trying to hurry people along to prevent log jams. Cart girl was very pleasant and came by frequently. Overall just a pretty meh course with only a few challenging holes and no real scenery or ambiance to keep you coming back. If youre the area give it a shot and maybe play from the tips so you can use all the clubs in your bag, but I wouldnt make it a must play course as the allure of being a links course is over-played.

The course is laid out pretty nice. The greens are difficult, but well maintained. Pace of play can be very slow. On a Sunday, it took us almost 3 hours to finish 9 holes with two people, and the back 9 was about the same. Nice course, good prices, extremely overbooked. 3.5 stars.

When I pulled up I was a little worried about the tee time I had set up. The club house isnt much of a club house and getting started was a bit confusing. Some better directions and signs would have been helpful.I think there was 1 tree on the entire course and only 1 water hazard but the rolling hills incorporated into the greens was made up for it. Greens fee was decent and I ended up really enjoying myself out there. I will definatly come back here again and I would recommend this course to anyone beginner to intermediate.

If you want a miserably slow round and want to wait on every single solitary tee, then this is the course for you. We play it a couple of times a year, basically because its convenient, centrally located and inexpensive. But I would rather pay $10 more if they would spread out the tee times. Keep expecting them to address this issue, but they never do. Every single time I am out there, it is ridiculously slow.

Won’t go back here again. Terrible customer experience. I was lied to and swindled out of hard earned cash. Here’s the story:I called ahead and asked if the course was busy. The pro shop manager said the turnaround times were 2 hours and 10 minutes, so I booked an 11:12am tee time.I paid $70 bucks and headed to the first tee, which is out of sight from the pro shop. As I approached the 1st tee, I counted 8 carts and 16 golfers (4 foursomes) all with later tee times than us.There was no starter to enforce our booked tee time, so we asked a ranger at the 9th hole if we had to wait for the tee times who were later than us to go off. He told us that since we weren’t at the 1st hole 5 minutes early that we essentially lost our spot.Thirty minutes after our scheduled tee time we still had a foursome in front of us. It was almost 1pm and we got word from a guy who was walking off the 9th green that his front nine lasted 2 hours and 45 minutes. With how things played out, I requested a refund. The pro shop manager told me it was out of the question and that we could only get a rain check. He wouldn’t budge. Even though he told us on the phone the turn around time was 2 hours and 10 minutes.I’m never coming back to this dump ever again. The person who runs this course doesn’t know how to run a golf course.

O.K. golf course. The course was in decent to above average condition, so no complaints there. The clubhouse is very dirty, outdated, and borderline run-down. Almost every single hole forces you to lay up, leaving it very difficult to reach the greens in two. Not a fan of this unless you can consistently drive the ball 280+ yards or if your average drive goes about 170. The greens seemed to be pretty inconsistent as well. Id go back here if I got a good deal, but Id pretty much just leave my driver at home.

I can not remember the last time I wrote a review, but I feel that I need to share this with other golfers so they can avoid the absolutely miserable time that I experienced last Saturday. It took 5 hours and 45 minutes to play a round of golf. they overbooked the course and were letting walk ons in between. No ranger on the course at all. When I asked some one if there was a ranger, their response was. (well were short handed today). No attempt to do anything about it. There are no ball washers on the course or on the carts., so bring your own water. No one at the snack bar to get a hot dog ( which is all they had) and one cart girl on the course. Needless to say this was our first and last time we will ever visit this course.

No sense of customer service, when I first arrived to pay for outing I ask a female worker if I could speak with Mike. I was there to pay for the outing and make sure accommodations were ready for that Sunday. She promptly and rudely says Hes Busy!. I kind of stand there for about 15 seconds, finally I ask Well is there any way you can get a hold of him, Hes busy is not very helpful.. But once I talked to Mike he made the experience much better, he was very helpful and was excited to talk about the golf course. The rangers didnt give anyone in our group a hard time. We made a reservation on a Friday morning for two groups. One a threesome and one a foursome. They messed up the reservation and ended up combining all seven of us into one tee time?!? We obliged to get going and divided the groups to keep our pace up. We were doing a mini-scramble/playing best ball to be sure we didnt hold any groups behind us. Despite this, the course ranger couldnt have been more rude. Between our two smaller groups, we both shot even and in theory, couldnt have gone any faster without shooting an eagle on every hole.Through the first nine, the we kept running into the group ahead of us. It wasnt a big deal and it didnt really bother us too much (it happens when golfing). At times though, the ranger asked us to tee off with the group ahead of us only 150yds down the fairway and pretty much hit right into them. We tried to give them a little bit more room, and then teed off as demanded by the ranger. The group ahead of us didnt seem very pleased. After the first 9, we got to 10 and got a tongue lashing from the course ranger yet again. At that time, the harassment was pretty ridiculous and so unfounded that our group decided to call it quits before it really ruined our day. We didnt attempt to continue a pointless argument with the general manager in the club house to get our money back. I would be completely understanding had we been a group of inexperienced golfers or abunch of kids just looking to wreck a golf cart, but with us being crammed into one tee-time (unlike our reservation) and playing best ball I dont think we could have done much more to accommodate the course and the extremely rude staff. All said and done, I have read the course plays slow and Ive realized that with the tee time intervals so short, its obvious this course is just looking to get as many golfers onto the course as possible and the only way to keep the players going (and hitting into one another) is to accompany that approach with rude course rangers. All in all, Im happy that the round was only $40. I would have had a much harder time giving up half of a paid round of golf had it been a respectable course and a much more costly round of golf. This a great example of getting what you pay for. This experience makes me feel that those $80-125/round courses are worth it.I would recommend trying a different place before you head to this course. The rude staff and slow rounds of golf dont make the cheap round worth it.

We usually like to go to Blackheath because of the link style type course layout and the price is always fair. But the last time we were there which was June of 2013, the ranger was extremely rude. The first player hit a ball out of bounds and was hitting a provisional when the ranger came running up to the tee box and began swearing asking us what the f**k we are doing? So needless to say, everyone wasnt very happy. We arent bad golfers and were playing as the rules state. Unfortunately other reviews have seemed to point the rude ranger, who seemed to have an accent. We will never be back and will choose to play anywhere else than Black heath!!!
