I recently went on a awesome spring Brown trout fishing trip with Jeff at Big Hit charters . We did catch and release and we caught 18 Browns. The amount of knowledge Jeff has on the Lake Ontario fishery is incredible. This was not my first time using him as a charter captain nor will it be my last . I can’t thank him enough for such a awesome day on the water. So I figured I would write a review for him in hopes that other get to go out and enjoy the incredible fishing we have here in Rochester .

Have been fishing with Jeff for 8 years now - at least twice a year, spring and late summer trips. Kings, browns. lakers, ...He is a very hard working captain who has an outstanding knowledge of the Lake Ontario fishery. Hes personable and always sorting through his bag of tricks (lures, speeds, depths, temperatures,...) to get the next big one for me (and you). Ill probably jinx it for others, but have limited every trip but 1 and still caught fish. You really cant go wrong with Jeff!

Captain Jeff is the man you want if youre looking to catch more fish than you can carry. He was very personable and was extremely fun to be around. He also was great about teaching me how to use the gear. He seemed to love being out there and knew the perfect places to go to catch a ton of fish. We caught so many fish I was exhausted by the end of it, but at the same time it was a very enjoyable and relaxing getaway out on the gorgeous lake. He had a top respect for the fish and environment and it was very important to him that we didnt kill any fish we werent keeping. BEST FISHING TRIP EVER. WE GOT SOME BIG ONES.

We just got back from being out on the water and it was definitely the best fishing trip I’ve ever been on. Had a blast with the guys! You couldn’t ask for a better guy to take you out. My father, brother, brother-in-law and I went out twice this year and Jeff really worked hard for us to get us on fish. Captain Jeff in my opinion, is the most knowledgeable Captain on the lake. He knows the best spots, has great gear and also a great sense of humor. If you are looking for an enjoyable, successful fishing experience, Captain Jeff and Big Hit Charters is the choice you want to make. My only advice would be to book early, he has a great reputation and fills up fast. I usually book my following years trip when we return to shore. Went on an 8 hour charter July 19 and had a great time. Caught plenty of fish and thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience. This is our second time with Big Hit Charters and have already planned another one for next year. Great Captain, clean boat, excellent gear...knows his stuff.

The grandkids and I spent three days this week fishing with Big Hit Charters. I cannot speak highly enough of the whole experience. The boat is easy to find, clean, and comfortable. The fishing grounds are only 15-20 minutes out of the river mouth. Captain Jeff knows the waters and had no problem putting us on fish. We caught chinook salmon, big brown trout, steelhead, and lake trout. Several browns topped 15 pounds! The captain has a cleaning station at the dock so all we had to handle was freezer bags. Rochester is a hidden fishing gem.

July 2016Hes done it again, 9 Fish total!!! Hes the only charter Ill take for Lake Ontario.June 2013This Captain knows his stuff! We (3 passengers) were able to catch over 7 Brown Trout, 5 Lake Trout, 1 Rainbow/Steelhead and a 20lb Salmon (30 min) within the first 6 hours of the 8 hour charter. We plan on having an annual Big Hit Charters adventure.

Our normal crew of five went out with Captain Jeff for the fifth consecutive year, and the trip gets better every time!!! Captain Jeff knows where the fish are and gets them on the boat. If I was registered for the fishing derby this year I would be in first place for Brown Trout, landing a 19.2 lb monster!!!! For the 5th year we hit our limit on fish. Captain Jeff filets the fish to perfection leaving minimal to no bones!!! I highly recommend Big Hit Charters and can not wait to go again next year!!!

The experience I continue to have on Big Hit charters and Captain Jeff Goater is the reel deal. Jeff finds the fish and keeps you on them all day.
