Loch Haven Lake Club

I attended an event there. We rented a picnic shelter in top of a wooded hill. The location was absolutely gorgeous! The shelter blended in with the trees and was roomy. The view was peaceful, overlooking the grounds and the lake and beach area. It appears to be rustic with plenty of outdoors activities available. I can imagine families would love this hidden gem, tucked away in plain site off 81! There are kayaks, floats, badminton/tennis courts, swings, a sandbox, outdoor grills and plenty of lawn chairs! I wish Id had more time to spend there.

Very beautiful place. Great staff that where very helpful. Affordable prices with a rustic old timey feel to it. It has a nice lake to swi and go boating. Woukd definetly reccomend it.

My 1st time there and it was nice and relaxing. Not crowded, clean outdoor getaway right in Roanoke. My son loved the diving boards and catching salamanders. We also enjoyed a short paddle around on kyaks. I hope to check out the trails some time.

I will be back to spend the day. It made for a perfect trip today for my family and i.

Wonderful family-owned swim club! We have been members for almost 25 years. My girls have wonderful memories of time spent there and my youngest was a lifeguard at Loch Haven for 4 years. I love the solitude that it offers most of the year. Not a fan of chlorine pools so lake water is natural and soothing. Trails are beautiful. 4th of July activities are great fun! There are kayaks and canoes available. Membership is year round so you have access to the lake property all months of the year which means swimming as early as late March and into early October! And off swim season hikes and runs are the best. Highly recommend if you like things more laid back and lovely.

I had my wedding reception in the party house here 10 years ago and have had several birthday parties at the picnic shelters. Its been great every time. I love that my kids always find something to do and never complain about wanting to watch TV when we are there. Ive been a member for 15 years and love the rustic outdoor atmosphere.

Been members for years! Its a GREAT place for family and friends. A small beach, yes, a beach! Swimming, fishing, hiking, canoeing, kayaking, picnicing, and theres a small tennis court of you bring your own balls and racquets. Theres also table tennis/ping-pong. Changing area and bathrooms. Have enjoyed many a celebration here (graduation parties, family gatherings, etc.). Would recommend family membership!

Loch Haven is Roanokes best kept secret. (Shhhh). We spend all summer exploring the forests, catching salamanders, swimming, and paddling. The atmosphere is relaxed and the views are beautiful. My family loves it.

By far the most enjoyable and laid back place to swim, paddle board, and relax in the area.

I had my wedding here this summer (2013). I had several problems with this venue. While it is pretty not everyone was hospitable. On the day before my wedding the care taker assigned to be on the property told us that we could not rehearse our wedding under the shelter by the lake, despite the fact that we rented it. She was quite rude with my mother. We had to ague to get to rehearse my wedding at all. Also DO NOT assume that since you are renting the venue they will not be using it. On my wedding day they were still using the property. There was a cookout by the lake with lots of people yelling, swimming, and running around. At times my guests could not even hear the ceremony for the noise caused by club members. This can clearly be heard on my wedding video. When we went to take pictures by the lake, we couldnt even use the dock to take pictures on because it was soaked from kids swimming and getting it wet all day. The pictures we did take had to be among their cookout and club members. Also during my reception it was so hot (with the air conditioning on) that most of my guests left before we even cut the cake. Another issue is that they help you with NOTHING! You set up the chairs, you arrange the tables, you put it all back, all the staff is there for is to babysit you. They are not hospitable once the big day comes, before that everyone you talk to is as nice as can be. I would suggest spending the extra money for somewhere that will be more helpful and hospitable. Save yourself the stress and dont have your moment ruined like mine was.
