I am very upset with the way Megan Heller handled my issue during an unprecedented time for all families. I called and left messages that were not returned which caused another draft of over $80 to come out of my bank account. I explained I needed to cancel my membership because my husband is not working right now and we cannot have the expense of a gym trump the necessity of making sure that we have food on the table for our family of five. She was not compassionate at all to my situation and sounded eerily cheery on the phone when telling me there was nothing she could do about it. I dont believe that. There is always something you can do. Why is a gym taking funds from families at this time if people are getting sick and dying from the exposure that potentially goes along with a gym visit. What about taking the time to call the families that have not used the membership since the last draft and asking them if they would like to continue or are there extenuating circumstances they are experiencing at this time that prohibit them from doing so. Especially after I put a freeze on it back in the spring/summer stating that I did not want to have any membership fees taken out given the current circumstances. Has much changed since then?

Good place for kids birthday parties. Pool and locker room floorplans arent perfect.

I take my grandchildren to the Y once a week in the evening. Unfortunately, I encountered a very rude older gentleman at the front desk who was wearing a ball cap. He waited for me by the women’s bathroom after swim class to inform me in a condescending tone “that’s not a changing room” I replied and said “okay” as I was not changing but using the bathroom. He kept going on and said”it’s simple, get it”. I walked away because I did not want to engage this man. Everyone could use a little compassion especially now a days during the pandemic no one know what the other person is going through. The staff should be a little more friendly about explaining the “rules.

Every day more people come and less people wear masks. It is becoming dangerous.

We just went here for a swim lesson and I cant get over how gross this place is. There is hair and dirt all over the floor in the pool area - the family locker rooms are filthy and beyond dated (in the basement) my husband and I were truly shocked at the conditions. We wont be returning.

I had a great experience. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. They broke every step down for me and made sure I understood everything I needed to join. Best decision to join the ridgewood YMCA.

Don’t appreciate monthly rate increase with a decrease in services. Considering discontinuing membership.

The swimming area is very dirty, its actually quite gross. Going from the family changing room, to the pool area is disgusting, there is hair (hairballs in the showers, huge, multiple hairballs to be exact), weve never used the showers because of this, you can also see things like band-aids, gum, pieces of candy, and other miscellaneous stuff that I honestly cant even describe. Theres also hair around the swimming pool. Coming out of the pool and going back to the changing rooms thats super cold is also something I cant warp my head around, the little ones -and adults- are super uncomfortable and cold and change in hurry to escape the low temperatures. We enrolled for lessons this summer, but never again.

Its pretty good, except why is the showering room for adults SO MUCH Better than the kid girls room. The water is warmer, with a bigger distance. Theres stools, soap, REAL hair dryers. The room is bigger, so please make the kids girls room (boys too if its like that, idk) like the adults showering room.

I have. been going to this YMCA since I was in High School. Ive used the Pool for swimming Laps and also the downstairs gym for weights, stretching and cardio. The showers & Lockers have always been kept clean. I now have 5 children with my youngest one being only 8 months old who is going to be starting the Mommy and me swim class but in my case its Daddy & Me. My 4 older children have all started like this and still continue to swim to swim jay the Y. My oldest daughter is on their competitive swim team. My children have also taken karate classes which I was extremely satisfied with and the girls did amazing. My mother whom is a senior also swims here in the morning. We have also used the summer camp programs which were very fun & exciting. We are very satisfied and will continue being a member.See you around the Y

The Ridgewood YMCA used to have amazing swim instructors who really cared about the students. The quality of swim lessons has really gone downhill and its such a shame! I wish they could bring back the old instructors, because this place is definitely NOT the same!

The Y has great fitness classes. With a BFC membership you can swim anytime, take classes from yoga to interval training and use the fitness center upstairs or in the basement The instructors are top notch. I have been a member for over 24 years and I love the feel of the Y. It is not a loud spandex gym. You talk with other members and make friends.

I wanted to go there to swim. At 8 am there was no answer (the office opens at 830 and cant get to anyone before then to ask any question). I took a chance (because I use YMCA when I travel a lot and I always have positive experience) and drove there. The woman who is at the door before the office opens at 830 didnt know: 1-if you can get a daily pass; 2-If there are classes in the pool or its lap swimming (she told me lap swimming would end at 11. When the office finally opened I was informed that you cant get daily passes and lap swimming was ending at 9. The ability for a customer to get accurate information via phone prior to 830 would be a good thing.

My son goes to basketball class there. Last week coach didnt come we waited for 45 minutes and nobody came to explain. There was no another coach either. This week there was a little boy as a coach but he is too young for this and he could’nt teach anything about basketball. This place is very bad. I dont recommend this branch. They are just very good charge money from credit card on time thats all.

Someone should be fired for converting the womens room to a family changing room! Who in their right mind though it was ok to allow grown men to wander into a changing room with 10 year old girls. I expect this to be changed immediately. I cannot beleive that you expect preteen girls to change and shower in the same space with grown men.

Cut the Y some slack. Jeez. Your paying for a pool and gym, the swim lessons are a bonus. Some people complain way too much. You get what you pay for; nothing more nothing less.
