Got a houseboat this last weekend. Boat was clean, worked great, and we had a blast. Every team member on their docks were eager to help us out. Anything we needed from tying up the houseboat to helping us do our final fuel stop. Wind was crazy so we left a day early but you dont know what mother nature is going to do all the time. Tip your dock workers!! They deserve it! Brandon....
We stayed for a weekend at the Bridge Bay Lodge at Shasta Lake. Once we have arrived, we were sad to find out that there is no internet in the room, or anywhere at the lodge. TV has about 3 channels with bad resolution. The room was clean but dark and mattresses were very uncomfortable. Good AC though. Restaurant closed at 7 and there were no other food options, no fridge or microwave in the room either, so we had to drive to Redding to get food. We have rented a fishing boat, that broke down when we were on the lake. We have called twice about that but had spotty reception. There was no response. Good Samaritan towed us to the dock. We were not offered any money back or anything else. There is very little communication between the boat rental staff and lodge staff, they provide opposite information which requires people to go from one to another, over a giant vertical stairs from beach to lodge, in a 110F heat. We will never stay there again.
Love it! The best party boat ever! But hope and wish their gas price should be lower tho. But the rest of our stay here is awesome! Well recommended to be getting away to unwind, relax and feel the nature
My wife and I booked a trip here for 4th of July (4th-6th) to stay on the Summit houseboat. Loading and unloading was fairly easy though I wouldnt suggest overloading the transport wagons because you will have a hell of a time getting them up and down the loading ramp as it is quite steep and unforgiving. We were greeted by a houseboat attendant who walked us through the controls and safety procedures of the boat. Here is where the trouble started. Our houseboat was equipped with an aging inboard motor that would not go above the 3k rpm without killing the engine. We delt with the engine problems for the first and second day and found that we could tule around the lake at a steady 2200 rpm with no problems. That evening we took the boat in to fuel up and talk to an engineer about the issue we were having. The engineer found one problem to be that the carburetor cover was rattling and sucking air from the top and bottom. After tightening the cover he said the problem was fixed. We went back out on the lake to cove hunt and settle down for the night. Unfortunately, the engine problem had not been fixed. Every 30 minutes or so the boat engine would throttle down to zero and shut off suddenly, leaving us scrambling to get it started so as not to get hit by passing boats. Not fun. We dealt with the problems and found a nice cove about 3/4 mile from the loading/unloading dock. Last day same problems except now the engine was even more unstable. The engine would not start and we were near a cove heading toward some houseboats on shore. We called the help line and an engineer came out with a tug boat within 20 minutes to diagnose and assess the problem. He swapped out the carburetor and it appeared to have fixed the problem. The engineer explained to us that they were in the process of swapping out the old inboard motors for newer outboard motors. We just so happened to get one of the old ones. If you decide to rent a houseboat, check with the front desk about which one you will be getting. You dont want to end up with a bad motor like we did.Aside from the engine problems, we enjoyed our trip on the lake and the houseboat and would still consider renting one out from Bridge Bay. Though next time they will have swapped out all the old inboard motors for newer outboards. I want to aslp add that I spoke with the manager (I believe his name was Nick) and he covered the cost of fuel for our troubles. Thank you for reimbursing us for the trouble. It made all the difference to us.
Our family had a great time renting a houseboat here a few years back. The employees were very kind and were willing to answer any of our questions. The houseboats were old, but very clean and safe. The location of Bridge Bay provides a perfect launching point to view all parts of the lake. Just be warned, it is very steep and there are lots of steps, but so long as you have no handicaps you will be fine. We really enjoyed our stay!
If I could leave a zero star I would. Had reserved a house boat for the weekend of September 11th, Forest Service shut down all national forests that week so Bridge Bay canceled our reservation. I understand this is not the fault of Bridge Bay, however they refused to refund our $300 deposit. They told us we should have purchased travel insurance. I could see not getting a refund if I was the one that canceled, but THEY canceled. Will never do business with Bridge Bay again and will spread the word as far and wide as I can.
We always love lake shasta houseboating! It was a nice and quiet week on the water with good temps and even the rain today made beautiful clouds! Bridge Bay was very helpful considering how empty the lake was with people. Some houseboat troubles with one motor in reverse and the battery didnt like more than a few lights on and the water pump and radio on at the same time. So cooking dinner was entertaining some evenings.
These guys were great. From first booking to check out. They didn’t nickel and dime at all. We rented both a house boat and a wave runner. We even lost part of the bumper on the wave runner (it just fell off on the water- not our fault, but it did happen on our watch), and they didn’t charge us for it. All in all, great customer service We had such a fun time as a family!
No housekeeping after 3 days of stay; attitude by housekeeping once we finally reached them; no minirefrigerator Or microwave; ancient plumbing; dark out of date shower, very poor service, dirty outside. Definitely not worth the price. Cleanliness of room was marginal. Restaurants was good. Lake is beautiful.
Did not inform me that I could rent the boat for a half day if I walked in rather than made a reservation. When I got the boat they did not tell me how the choke worked or that I needed to even needed to do anything with it. The boat was extremely sluggish and had a hard time starting, but I didn’t think anything of it because they told me it was slow because it was just a fishing boat. The marina manager was argumentative and asked me things like “well what, you’ve never driven a boat before?” And would not accept that his employee did not inform me about the choke. He refused to even consider a partial refund. I would highly recommend looking at other boat rentals on Shasta lake.
Choose wisely. We had our reservation changed right after we booked it, from the Grand Sierra EX and 4 nights to the Grand Sierra for 3 nights in July(apparently they rented us a boat/night that was not available). We ended up picking Bay Bridge because they had a boat available for July when we looked in June. It was 105* the day we checked in after a 5 hour drive. The check in went good, but when we went to leave one motor kept stalling. The mechanic finally showed up and 1 outboard had a split fuel line that had to be replaced. This was a huge disappointment with the heat and a long drive we just wanted to get out on the lake. Im glad we found it in the dock instead of out on the lake. We where delayed 1.5 hours. The next day the main bathroom smelled so bad that no one could stand to use it. I motored in and had them suck out the tank(another 3+ hour delay + fuel). I asked them if they could at least give me a day credit for the wave runner I had rented ($900/3days) for the time spent motoring in and not enjoying the lake. The dock manager was not having it and let me know problems happen. We could not use the main bathroom and ended up washing ourselves in the lake (2 adults and 5 kids). The smell from there was horrible, like it had over flowed sewage and it was entrained in the wood. This place has the chance to be 5 stars(even with old boats), but after 2 instances that took hours away from our 4 days, not being able to use the main bathroom and no one willing to try and make it right we where disappointed with the service. We witnessed other boat renters going through the same problems at their check in as we where off loading. Take your time and read through reviews here and Yelp. Your going to spend a lot of money on your houseboat rental so choose wisely. The lake is beautiful and you can have a lot of fun, you just dont want to spend it dealing with problems and a horrible smell like we did.
This is a hidden gem! An older style hotel with no frills but located with water views, lots of trees and a peaceful atmosphere! We were glad to get off the highway on our trip home! No WiFi in rooms and cell service poor, but nice to unplug for a bit!
The people there are very pleasant but the fishing this trip wasnt, to hot and windy
Besides being so low the lake is awesome! So warm and beautiful. People who have boats out there are so friendly.
We provided our 30 day notice of leaving our rented slip on 30 May 2020 and still have not received our deposite back. Three promises of calls back with no response. Great resort but Moorage and accounting departments need a lot of work.
Arista at the front desk was amazing. She remembered me just by my voice. The room was dated-bathroom tile was 1950s, but in perfect condition. The shower-warm at best was a trickle, the air conditioning unit worked well-it controlled the 100+ degree temperature, but it was loud. we turned it off in the morning, then left for a boat ride-realizing how hot our room would be. The housekeeping staff had turned it back on.-very aware and responsible. Dinner at the resorts COOK HOUSE Restaurant was great, views wonderful, and very attentive staff. We rented a pontoon boat for the day-saw most of the lake, and easy to operate.
We had an issue with our wake board rental (previous users destroyed it). We called in ahead of time to see if they had any wake boats available. They said they 5, so we took a 45 minute jet ski ride over there to rent one. A very angry lady with red/pink hair came out and was very rude to us and said nothing was available. We tried to talk to her and figure out what was going on, but she was very rude and disrespectful and wouldnt help us at all. Any decent company would consider her unhireable because of how awful she was.
Been coming here over 10 years. Best time of my life. Please followed rules with jet boats.
A very cozy nostalgic old school comfortable Lodge...located at the mouth of the VERY large Shasta Lake basin.Very large, full service marina with houseboat, speed boat, party pontoon, waverunner and fishing boat rentals.Exceptionally friendly and helpful staff. The on site Cookhouse Restaurant was a wonderfully pleasant surprise! Exceptionally well prepared meals!!!We enjoyed three dinners and two breakfasts there. The grillid ribeye steak, the mushroom swiss burger, the wedge salad and the fish & chips (enjoyed twice) were very well worth it!!! The country fried steak and eggs and the traditional bacon and egg breakfasts were delicious. While the wait to be seated might be discouraging to some, the down home, personal and friendly service makes it all, a worth while wait. Oh, and did I mention the view?! Indoor and outdoor seating available. Large, full service bar with a view, as well. Overall, an EXCELLENT value. Well worth it!!!
5 day houseboat rental. You cannot beat being on the water however the boat we rented needed some upgrades. Stained curtains, filthy conditions, cracked window could not be opened, AC barely worked, motor or generator, even when not used for over 1/2 a day, left a constant oil or fuel slick around boat. Not worth the price paid especially when we toured other local houseboat rentals for comparable pricing. Do your research.
Boat Rental at Bridge Bay.Easy check in easy check out. Nice staff and really easy to find. Be patient when returning your boat because every one else on a rental will be docking at the same time. So share the water and be prepared to strategically navigate your rental. There is also as loading dock with wheelbarrows to make loading easier on your back. Have fun and be safe!
What a delight. So much.to offer. Restaurant, lounge, and every kind of water craft to rent. My room was efficient, but electric outlets not located near the bed was the only drawback. .would definitely stay here again.
I love Shasta ! Ive been to Bridge Bay many times and its a great facility. Ive been thinking about reserving a room at the lodge for three or four days, but when I was there a few years ago I had to use the boat ramp over by the private docks, it was brutal …. Had to wait in line for an Hour in the blazing heat and there was no where to park the van and trailer not to mention its a very steep ramp to boot ! I asked why the other ramp was closed and was told it was for emergency purposes. I couldnt believe what I heard …… Ive never even seen anyone launching a boat there except for me ! I call it B.S. I dont know whos running things there but if its still that way next summer Ill take my business to Silverthorn or Jones Valley.
It would be better if they could cut down the wait time
About 20 minutes from Redding. Good location to actually get on the water.
Its always a fun time at bridge bay thank you.
My family and I spend a week on the lake every year and we always use Bridge Bay to rent a houseboat! The staff is always super friendly and helpful! The marina is very easy to get into and launching our boats is easy on their ramps. The houseboats do their job. Nothing too fancy, but it works for us. We just use it to sleep and eat!
Great marina with very friendly and helpful staff.
Great place to stay! Only downfall is the marina stairs... marina 2 isnt bad but marina 1s stairs of terrifying. Very steep incline certain death if you fall. Overall a great place that is well recommend by me.
The place was ok. Bed was comfy enough, but the walls are so thin. The people up stairs walked around late and loudly; in addition to their balling kids in the morning. The people down the way from us let their kids play in front of our door at 8 am. So, that was awesome to wake up too, screaming and pulling one another around on the plastic chairs outside.Yeah, we wont be going back.
Excellent! My friend had passed by Shasta Lake and had wanted to explore, so on our drive home to Seattle we thought wed stay a night here and were we ever happy we did. I was a teeny bit sceptical when I first saw my building, but once I got into the room I was sold. The bathroom was dated but immaculately maintained and the room had modern touches like a small flat screen TV. What really did it was that even though my room backed onto the freeway we were able to sleep with the windows open and I didnt hear a single car in the night. The view from the room was lovely and, as it was the off season, we had the excellent restaurant all to ourselves. Would love to come back and stay a few more days!
Very clean and friendly staff. Bit of a challenge finding the rooms as we checked in late night. Otherwise a nice place to rest during a road trip.
Its like stepping back in time... The Lodge rooms are clean, but old. Staff were very friendly. This place is built on the side of a hill so be prepared for lots of stairs to get around. The restaurant had good food and amazing views of the lake.
Two boat ramps make it nice to launch.
I stayed at this resort on the way back from a Cowboy Dressage gather in California. The lodge overlooks Shasta Lake and is quiet. The room is comfortable with a scenic view. The is a good restaurant within walking distance. There is a vista point, where events, such a weddings take place. One can enjoy walks to the center and lakeside marinas.
They are good overall.
Excellent resort. 5/5 will retire here.
I love this location. The amenities are decent and they have a restaurant on site. The prices are worth what you get, especially during off season.
Always a amazing time on a house boat
Amazing time and very friendly employees and always very helpful
Great place for visiting Shasta Lake and Redding area. Complete services with boat Marina, rentals, motel, houseboat rentals, restaurant, bar, launch ramps, boat fuel and shack and gift shops and a courtesy dock for shop, restaurant patrons and of course the beautiful Shasta Lake for all water activities. No designated areas for fishing or swimming within the resort boundaries but still may find small spots for such activities.
I figured heck all I need is to bring some Ice cream,I could sale it all. lol
Good people nice place.
Took 45 mins to get a mechanic out to see my boat after it stalled several times.
Cozy spot with good views of the lake. Clean, comfortable and very reasonable prices. Furniture and decor is dated but overall, a great value.
Staff was pleasant, store was well stocked
Called yesterday to try to make a reservation and everything went good she said come in the next day itll be all set. Get there today and they say no more boats and we never got written down for a rental. So drove 45 minutes for nothing and the lady at the desk could care less
Beautiful place
Old but well kept quiet retreat from city accomodations. Good winter rates. Big breakfasts.
Motel near bridge from I-5 Frwy.Heard car/truck traffic while trying to sleep.Said motel on lake but tucked back farther away &behind trees,no real view. Also hardly any WiFi,cell reception extremely poor. Inside, bed very comfortable&clean.Older, well kept unit.Nothing more than that.
F this place. Go and find out for yourself.
The staff here are excellent. Have never had a bad experience with them. Their rentals are great and mostly well maintained, but some of them are getting a bit tired.
Great food, wonderful service and a fantastic view of the lake!
It was great renting a boat from here. They were out of ski boats, so we took out a patio boat. It was $75 for 2 hours. Note that you also have to pay for gas that you use! We used an average amount over the 2 hours and it cost $17, so that adds to your cost. It was smokey when we were there, so they gave us free smoke masks, which was awesome.
Great place for getting away and good food and drinks.
Park our houseboat there, docks are nice and the restraint is excellent
Very special place to visit and stay. Lovely scenic views, pristine lake and accommodations.
Upgrade the ramp....its the WORST
I had the best time of my life .went you go here you leave all your problems behind
Its so beautiful Im from Portland Oregon and want to come see it again sometime
Be careful not to break any boating rules when renting a houseboat at Bridge Bay. We were hit with a $1,007.00 ticket from a lake policeman when one of the members of our family opened the back gate and sat on the floor while the boat was moving.
No internet in the rooms and the on line advertising looks like it is. They told me they cant give internet access to the rooms because the signal does not reach and the hard wire cost would be too much and yet I had a full strength signal on the admin network.Anyway, the room was clean hot water takes forever the bed was comfortable and it was quiet so I slept well.Beautiful location. Disappointed the restaurant was not open, also not disclosed until after I had paid. For the price I think the value was ok.if all you want is a good nights sleep its good but if you need to get any on line work done a big nope.
Good place to stay clean rooms, good food and friendly staff
Great place to spend a weeks vacation
There is the obligatory gift shop and separate lounge. Spectacular views and house boat rentals available
Great staff, beautiful scenery.
Horrible customer service very ruin down. Hotel room smelt like mold and the restraint took forever for my family to get are food. Use to be a nice place about three years ago. Ever since the new owners have taken over the resort. Very pricey not worth the money spent.
Great place to rent houseboats or bring ur own... Lots of parking... Restaurant is realli good, motel there too... Store is clean and has lots of things to purchase as a reminder of ur trip if ur not a local
The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. Our boat was small but mighty and got us everywhere we wanted to visit around the lake including the caverns, and Shasta dam. It was a great experience our first with bridge bay. We would definitely rent from here again!
Bloody mary meal awesome and try the chicken marsala melt in your mouth good
Staff are super friendly and the place was great. I spent a week in one of their house boats and I will be back next summer
This was a great find. Nice room, friendly staff, convenient restaurant.
A surprisingly nice hotel and restaurant attached to the most convenient house boat rental dock in Lake Shasta, hard to go wrong booking a getaway here. The beds are OK, but really nothing else to complain about especially considering its proximity. The staff is alll extremely helpful and smiling as the day goes on. Be sure to have breakfast at the restaurant. Houseboat rentals are booked often and early so dont leave yours till late. Parking can go fast so get there early!
Very run down and the room was a spider haven. Very loud at night. Basically it looks like apartments in the ghetto, so if you are in to that then this is the place for you.
Wish we could of stayed, the gate guy let us in for 15 minutes he is so nice
Great location easy access from freeway to launch ramp
Good views of lake and marina (think Sunset). Good food, reasonable price. Great bar with some original drinks (bloody marys). The nearby lodge has a nice venue for weddings/anniversary type setting. Parking can be tight for large vehicles at busier times, but it is not a big problem.
Decent place for what it is. I was thankful they had the air conditioning turned on when we arrived to our room, though our room did not have a lake view as expected. No pool and the access to the lake is very difficult. You really need a boat to swim there. If you are gluten-free, you may want to avoid the restaurant. They didnt seem very knowledgeable about celiac disease.
Amazing employees. Roxy Valencia is always there yo help in whatever she can. She always has a smile no matter what time of the day you walk in the office.
Theres better hotels out there, but this one has one of the best locations you can find. This place is right on the lake. The boat launch and docks are just a short walk away. You can eat at the restaurant that has a gorgeous lake view, bring your boat and go fishing, or rent a house boat for a small party. The rooms are a little small and old, but still well kept.
Went smooth! Had a blast! People are nice, fair and friendly. We rented a boat for 3 days and camped, plus got a room for 2 nights. Good times! Could not be more pleased.
We got so much fun here
Pet friendly, no views, easy access from I-5, friendly staff, comfy bed, plenty of blankets, teensy shower - think phonebooth, only smaller, smoke free rooms but ours had an ashtray on the private balcony with a view of the hill about 20 ft away. Room over fragranced at arrival and for hours after. Dead bugs all over the window sills. At least they were dead. Probably great for recouping after a day on the lake, I dont think well be back.
