I have been going to the Basie since 1973. First show was BRUUCE w Born To Run album. The theater was called the Carlton back then. I used to go there too as a little girl to watch movies too! Bambi, Herbie & The Love Bug etc I have grown up w the Basie and absolutely love it like I always have! Ive been blessed seeing incredible artists such as BB King, Aretha, Little River Band, Southside on New Years eve, Brit Floyd, Remember Jones, Moody Blues & lots more. The artists always rave about the sound here, even the superstars!

This theater is beautiful and very well maintained. It is surprisingly large for a New Jersey venue. The acoustics are very good where you dont feel like your going to go deaf. The stage is adequately sized for the performers. The bathrooms were recently renovated but the stalls are a bit tight. Street parking can be difficult to find when a popular band is being featured. There are small parking lots in the area that charge $20 during performances. A bargain compared to Manhattan. There are also several nearby restaurants, if youre looking for a bite to eat, before or after the show. For those looking to travel on public transportation, there is a NJ Transit train station a few blocks away.

Count Basie Center AKA Hackensack Meridian Health Theater is an excellent venue. Historic building has been renovated and is well maintained. Good sound system. Weve seen several great shows there, most recently was The Bronx Tale. Meter parking in front, and some free parking on the side streets. If you dont mind walking a few blocks, you can park in the train station.

Just saw the best band, Dream Theater, at the Count Basie Theater. Was a great venue and great acoustics. There is not a bad seat in the house. Bathrooms seemed to be newly renovated. I highly recommend seeing a show here. Since this show was predominantly male, they even opened up the ladies room for the guys to keep the lines short

Had a great experience. Staff was friendly and helpful. There wasnt a bad seat in the house. I went to one show in the very back and another in the very front. There was a difference in the view obviously, but even in the back I had a great view of the comedian.Staff is very friendly. I had a situation with my tickets and the box office helped with no questions asked. Very helpful, professional and courteous. I will be back to help support this amazing theater!

The renovation of this old theater is fabulous! The staff is trained and professional. The acoustics are wonderful and the ambiance is delightful. Watch modern performance in an historic atmosphere. Drinks and snacks are typical for this type of venue. Glass of wine is $9. Water is $3. Soda is surprisingly cheaper than water. The seats have been refinished and we enjoyed a large movie screen with the symphony. Definitely a must visit

Not a bad seat in the theater! Sound quality was a little rough, but it could be because I was seated toward the back of the balcony. The waiting area is spacious for its size and the bathrooms are readily accessible. We parked for free (after 6pm) in a lot down the street and the theater is close to a lot in downtown Red Bank.I know theyre going through extensive renovations/additions, so Im looking forward to seeing how they improve.

I went here to see Rent and it was awesome. It’s a nice theatre with great selection of drinks and snacks. Yes long lines for bathroom and food drinks. My only issue was the balcony seats. As other have said very close and knees go up against seat in front of you. Also there is no handrail on the aisle which blows my mind. I have an on off issue with my knee and it seemed to set it off since there was no support going up the stairs. It was uncomfortable and I felt a bit off balance a few times making it a bit dangerous. If I were to see another show here I wouldn’t sit in balcony again. Other then that it was a good experience.

This is such a unique place and a gem in Monmouth County. They have a lot of variety in talent that comes in, and the theater is a classic from way back when. Ive been here several times. I still have the same opinion after sitting in different areas, from orchestra, to lodge, to upper balcony when I got last minute tickets. The sound quality is perfect. The sound system is perfect for acoustics and vocals, and the sound and shape of the room is well damned do you hear the sound perfectly anywhere. The sound is well done.My issues with the venue, why Id likely give it 3.49 stars (its better than 3, but not a 4).- The seats are terribly tight and uncomfortable. They are very close to the next person with no space, and you cant watch a show comfortably. My back hurt, but my buddy was in a lot more pain from the discomfort of the seats. For what you pay for seats, you think theyd update the venue a little at some point.- The other thing is ticket prices. Ive never seen a fairly priced event here. If I want to see an artist, I pay regardless, but Ive held out to see artists at a nearby local venue and ticket prices are significantly cheaper. Aside from the sound, if they put any money into the venue to make improvements, maybe it would be fairly priced. All in all, its a venue I go see artists at only when they are here in the area, but Id rather go elsewhere. The sound is good though.Just my honest review.

The Count Basie is a beautiful venue. Parking can be a chore, but taking advantage of the valet parking offered by the near by restaurants may save you up to $23. After a brief wait in the security screening line, we immediately entered the lobby and concession area. The facility has both upper and lower concession stands and bathrooms on each level. The theatre is visually stunning with impressive acoustics. The only down side to this venue is personal space. The dividers in the mens bathroom literally forced all three men to bump shoulders when moving in or out of the stalls. The seats are also a bit narrow in the balcony and luge area. Two of the seven people in our group also suffered knee pains from the cramped quarters.

Not sure how this venue will survive in the age of covid and beyond. For all the millions plunged into the expansion and the exorbitant ticket prices and fees, the seats are so tight and close you can smell others breath when they laugh or talk...which people do a lot of in the audience. People stroll in late necessitating the entire row to get up to let them squeeze in. No matter the weather, the bouncers hustle you out of the theater in the rain or cold if you are waiting for a pick up. You really have to put up with a lot of discomfort to see an act.

I took my mother to see Rent this week, having attended a few performances at the Count Basie Theater in the past, comparatively we were both disappointed with the over all experience. They have installed a security system, the line to get in was long, though there were 3 scanners to enter through, regardless of which way you approach the theater there is little access to the middle entrance until you are just about to the left or right entrance, no one really guiding patrons to the center and no entrance for patrons without bags, which is usually the fast line. As the process to enter was slow, the show started late and with the lights on for the first 5-10 minutes as a good number of patrons continued to enter, very distracting to guests and I can imagine the performers as well. Once the lights went down people continued to stagger in, some groups as large as 6 trying to locate their seats, they were escorted by theater staff, still intrusive and disruptive as they stood in the aisles for what seemed like forever waiting for seated guests to stand so they could pass. I suggest if a guest is more than 10 minutes late, they wait until the 2nd act to enter the theater.I have never attended a show where the patrons were constantly exiting /re-entering the theater. Perhaps we were there on a bad night with a particularly rude group of patrons, or maybe since entering late was acceptable, leaving also became acceptable. The show was great, the cast did an amazing job. I would say I was able enjoy the second act much more as the foot traffic and distractions were less. The performance was powerful and emotional and I felt all the love and angst of the story to my soul.We are hoping this was a bad night and will attend another performance, as our previous experiences had been fantastic.

This is a lovely venue....not too big and not a bad seat in the house. There is no elevator to the 2nd floor so if stairs are an issue you need to get seats on the 1st floor. I am 64 and had to sit sideways with my legs in the aisle. 6gentleman 2 seats over had to put his legs over the seat in front of him( fortunately that seat was empty). Credit to count basie for making sure to get a charge for a seat for my 9 week old son. Bought three tickets for my wife, daughter and myself to see blippi on Sunday the 16th of February. Upon entrance was told I needed 4 seats. When asking the manager Corey where it states such terms are located he did not know. My son in the carrier (Worn on my chest) obviously cant keep his head up yet let alone take up a seat. Im all for following protocol but if your going to keep to such absurd restrictions please let the public know where to find this information. When I asked for a bosses card I was threatened with nancy the ticket holder directing the cops to remove me while holding my 2 month old. Solid customer service. Not wanting to ruin my 3 yr old daughters experience I bought the extra ticket but lets get society to return to common sense. Just because I question your actions does not mean I should be threaten with removal by force. Again by all means if the rules are legit and in place so be it but just because I question it doesnt mean we cant keep steady heads.
